Manehattan
The Need of a Hero
Load Full StoryNext ChapterIt was a late night in the wonderful city of Manehattan. Ponies partying, drinking, getting in to fights, and such is life in the complicated city. Speaking of complications, the crime rates in the city have increased greatly due to a lack of skillfully trained police ponies. Crimes have been known to be violent in the city at night... Bank robberies, illegal contraband, gangs terrorizing streets, rape, murder and etc. The police ponies cannot do anything about this madness... Neither can Celestia.
She has sent Royal Guards to the greatly terrorized city and they have failed to decrease the threat that still exists today. Celestia and Luna have talked about what to do with the city, but have failed to come up with any ideas, until they set curfew, which didn't do jack shit. Crime rates are still high and the pony policemen, even with curfew, have failed to neutrilize the threat. Everypony has been crying for a hero.
Somepony that will save them.
Somepony who will end this madness.
Somepony that will never give up.
Which is where I step in...
My name is Buck. Buck Clarke. An average pony citizen of every day Manehattan. I work down at one of the most famous bars in Equestria as the manager, "The OV Bar". I took over the business from my father, who made a chain of the bar all across Manehatten and several other big cities in Equestria. He started the business ever since I was a little filly, he always used to talk about making a bar to hang out with his friends and maybe make a profit, but when it became a big hit, he spent less time coming home, got drunk all the time, and he met another mare, which devastated the marriage between my mom and dad. I hated him the day mom and I found out. I was furious and so was she.
We moved out of the house and lived in Ponyville. We stayed with a family that owned an apple farm named "Sweet Apple Acres"; they heard about us just leaving Manehattan and the situation we were in. We were broke and homeless. We couldn't afford to live anywhere, but luckily the apple family let us settle in with them. It was no trouble with them. Which is why today I am greatful that AppleJack let us live with her. It was always about hard work up there, which didn't bother mom or me at all. We were being payed, had a home, had food, and had a family to have it with. Best times with my mom... And then...
She got killed...
She went back up the Manehattan one night to get the paper work for a divorce and somepony shot her... Stabbed her... I waited for her to come back and didn't learn of her murder until somepony came to the farm to inform me the next morning...
I ran away. Into the Everfree Forest and never came out. I ran towards a tree house looking place and ran inside. I cried really hard and felt the tears rushing out like a waterfall... I wanted my mom back... I wanted those ponies to pay... I didn't know what to do, until a zebra came in the house and nearly gave me a heart attack. She sat down next to me and hugged me. Telling me everything was going to be okay and I shouldn't be sad. Zecora was the one who calmed me down, the one who taught me over the years; she knew what I was thinking one day when I was outside her house one day, using magic to swing a stick around, putting my hooves up like I was fighting. Revenge. She told me revenge isn't sweet and I will suffer defeat if I continue kicking my feet.
Why does she rhyme everything? I don't know. Never figured it out.
The only things she has taught me is magic concentration, basic defense skills, and healing. Healing was the hardest thing to master in the book, it was a spell even Twilight can't get. Zecora said I was the first unicorn to have such talent to master such a hard spell. Once she said my training was complete, I set off into Ponyville.
I went to Rarity's place and had to simply ask her for a costume, she was dazzled. She was all "AH! IDEEEAAA!!!" and "AH YES! THIS WILL SIMPLY DO!". Ugh... Going in there is bad? No. Staying in there for 5 hours? Yes. I feel like I needed to go to the spa, which Rarity then went there after my costume. I rejected her offer to go with her... 5 hours is enough. I then went to Twilight's house to gather some books to study, went to Sugar Cube Corner for a quick bite, and said goodbye to all of my friends there. AJ, Rarity, RD, Twilight, Fluttershy, and Pinkie. It was hard going away though... Pinkie hung onto me and didn't let go. Typical Pinkie.
Where did I go?
Manehattan.
Why?
The ponies will see why I returned home....
It was a late night like where we left off. I was hopping from building to building. Searching. I looked down and saw a couple of thugs tormenting a poor mare. They had their knives out and it looks like they already cut her, there was blood dripping from her face, she had bruises all over her. All they wanted was her satchel. Typical. With one giant leap I landed behind the two stallions. They turned around and saw me. They started to laugh.
"Ha ha ha! Oh sweet Celestia!" said one of them. "Is there a circus in town? What is this? A pony in a black suit with red stripes at the hooves?! Sorry pal, the circus is that way."
I step forward, "Leave the mare alone."
One of the stallions looked at me funny, "Oh really? And if we dont?" He asked.
"Why don't you come at me and find out." I answered.
One of the stallions ran towards me swinging the knife and with a flash I appeared behind him and bucked him into the wall. The other stallion held the mare with the knife in his mouth against her throat. "Don't move circus boy, or the pretty mare gets it" he said crazily.
I stayed still and heard the other stallion get up, running at me. I quickly turned around, layed on my back, and pushed him with my back hooves towards the other stallion, knocking into him and hitting the garbage cans hard. I trotted up to them both, they were struggling in pain, I grinned and picked them up with my magic. I sent them flying into the street behind me, where two pony policemen picked them up and put them in the squad carriage.
The mare looked at me and sat down.
"You... You saved me... I thought I was a goner..." She said very quietly and relieved.
"All in a night's work my lady, now I must go. Have a safe night." I said about to go back to the building top.
"W-wait. Who... Wh-Who are you?"
I turned around and smiled.
"Velvet Jazz" I said as I disappeared before her eyes.
