//-------------------------------------------------------// Fangs of the Moon -by Dead Account Here- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: Sleeping Demons //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: Sleeping Demons Chapter 1: Sleeping Demons It was your average night, as most nights were in the relatively peaceful land of Equestria. Princess Luna was leaned over her porch, gazing up at the stars, alone as usual. Whenever she found herself in moments such as this, she truly felt she got the short end of the stick. She'd never resort to becoming Nightmare Moon again of course, yet she still couldn't help but feel envious of her older sister, who had such a lively crowd to rule over and even livelier enemies to contend with. The Princess didn't want to admit it, but sometimes, even she wished some sort of dastardly villain would appear that she could deal with, just so she could re-instill her purpose of guarding the night. "Is there not one who wishes to spend their time dancing about beneath the moonlight? Is there not one who finds themselves unable to resist the shine of my stars, unable to close their eyes, forever lost in their tiny yet mesmerizing glow?" The Princess exhaled heavily, before closing her eyes and lowering her head further. "Is there not one?" Princess Luna removed herself from the porch at that moment, heading back into her private quarters as she made her way over to a desk with a picture laid out atop the surface. She eyed the picture grumpily, before levitating it before her in which it was revealed to be a photo of Celestia and her during Twilight's coronation. Princess Luna groaned softly; yes she loved Celestia, but she was still a pony with ordinary feelings, feelings of jealousy which she felt stirring up once again. She knew it was childish, she knew maturity was one of the most important traits that should be instilled in any Princess, yet she couldn't stop herself from feeling this way either. Yes, she helped rid young ponies of their nightmares. Yes, she helped differ the times of day between when one was to sleep, and one was to remain awake, and majority of the time that was a thankless job as well. She wasn't being selfish though! She was just, she was just- she sighed, yeah, she was being selfish. She was acting childish, even for an ancient being with thousands of years of experience. Princess Luna gently placed down the photograph of Celestia and her, then made her way back over to the porch tiredly. She leaned back over it letting her hooves dangle over the railing for a bit, allowing them to sway limply from left to right as she gazed back up at her stars. However, even though it was her night sky, she saw something that caught her attention for a fleeting moment. It was a shooting star, one that was gone in practically an instant, but one she didn't expect either. She knew the game, and she knew how this worked, so the night princess immediately closed her eyes tight and muttered a private wish to herself. She found herself blushing a little bit due to how desperate she seemed, but one had to preoccupy themselves somehow if they were forced to guard the time of day when nopony usually did anything. She bit her lower lip and gulped, looking back up with wide eyes, "Oh please please please mean something." Coincidentally, it was at that moment a Lunar Guard had burst open the door to the Princess' chamber room. The guard was having some trouble catching his breath, as if he'd just gotten done sprinting a cross country marathon. He attempted to speak, and disappointingly to no avail, he raised a hoof afterwords. "A second, if I may Princess..." Princess Luna was obvious a little thrown off about this Guard's demeanor, as her gaze shifted awkwardly to the left and right, and she let off hushed coughs almost to break the unpleasant feeling that stirred about the chamber. "Ahem," She waited a few more seconds, just glancing down at her Lunar Guard as he was taking his merry time in explaining his unexpected intrusion. After another moment passed, Princess Luna couldn't stand the sudden suspense any longer, she stomped a hoof before inquiring more information from him. "So, will thou explain why he intrudes upon my private chambers? What is the emergency my loyal subject!? Why such haste!?" The guard looked up at the Princess apologetically before taking a deep breath and then swallowing out of nervousness. He finally let out some words regarding the matter hurriedly, "M-Monster Princess!" Princess Luna looked at him, unsure of what he meant. "What?" The guard continued, fully aware that his pathetic sliver of a report wouldn't be enough. "A-A monster, Princess! A monster has appeared in the town of Hollow Shades! It's attacked their livestock, and is now fending off the guards! We cannot stop it alone, we-" the guard then looked ashamed, unable to look his Princess in the eyes. "We r-require your assistance." A playful wide smile slowly crept onto Luna's face when she'd heard those words. They, required her assistance? They actually, required her help!? There was actually an incident her mighty guard could not resolve alone!? There was actually something for her to do besides dream watch!? She felt as if she were going to bounce off her hooves due to the joy that coursed through her very being. Jeez, she'd definitely be star-gazing a lot more often, the wish worked! Well, it worked somewhat, there was still more to it. Even Princess Luna found it strange, as she tapped her lower lip with her hoof thinking about it, oh no matter. She chuckled as she closed her eyes and raised a hoof, "Let us go stop this monster then!" She paused as she looked dumbfounded for a second, before she looked back down to her guard once again. "Ah yes, before we head off, what is this monster exactly my loyal subject? Surely it must be familiar in some way." The guard fell silent once again. His breaths were hushed and barely audible as he shook his head slowly. He spoke with a tremble in his voice, which'd caused Princess Luna to gaze upon him worriedly with concern. He spoke in an awfully dramatic tone, one befitting of a horrible proclamation, "We, we've never seen anything like this before Princess. We had it outnumbered, yet it still overpowered us. It is unlike any monster previously encountered during our duties. It even refuses to take us seriously, treating our efforts like a child's game. We fear there is no way to best it." The guard broke into cowardly trembles, unable to hold himself still. Princess Luna no longer looked as if she were treating this like a child's game herself. What could've possibly threatened her royal guard in such a manner to cause them to react like this? This must've certainly been quite the monster to cause such fear, and it worried her greatly. Should she go and inform her sister of this news before she herself embarked on the dangerous journey to Hollow Shades? She thought about it, and as she did, the feelings in which she experienced earlier returned once again. This caused the alicorn to shake her head in frustration. She didn't want to be foolish about this whole mess but she also didn't want to involve Celestia. She wanted to deal with this herself, to prove her being the guardian of the night still meant something. No, she would deal with this herself no matter what! She wouldn't fail her subjects. She put on a serious expression trotting past her frightened guard stating, "Let us go see what this monster's made of." The Lunar Guard felt his confidence building up once again, basking in the glory of Princess Luna. It was no wonder she was their ruler, she was graceful, strong, brave, she was everything they could hope for. His trembling steadily died down before he regarded Princess Luna with a salute from behind, out of natural instinct as he nodded. "Of course Princess!" Princess Luna's determination was that much more obvious with each trot she took. She wouldn't let this mysterious creature harm her subjects anymore, she'd put a stop to it. She pitied the idea of it somewhat, how could any individual creature prepare for the power of the night itself. This wouldn't end pretty, she felt quite certain of that at least. A slight smirk crept onto her face in amusement. The town of Hollow Shades, it certainly provided the perfectly creepy atmosphere for the situation. As Princess Luna and her guard escort touched down upon the beaten dirt trail which lead further into town, there was already an ominous feeling that hung about the air. Princess Luna glanced around at the area which surrounded them, a dense fog covering most of it while dead trees surrounded them at all sides. It was also silent, the only ambient sounds being that of the whistling winds, which wasn't comforting to say the least. Where were all her guards, where was the sounds of fighting? Although they weren't in town they were close enough to the point where they should've at least heard the battle taking place, unless, the battle was already over by this point. The lunar guard was trembling once again, his armor letting off an irritating rattling sound. Princess Luna glared back at him, before looking ahead and rolling her eyes, continuing on ahead. The two ponies soon made their way into the desolate little town of Hollow Shades, where all was still quiet. Princess Luna proceeded to glance around for any signs of a grand battle. Yet what she saw would only leave her speechless, as laying about the courtyard motionless and defeated, would be what could've been considered a small army of her guards. Princess Luna couldn't find any words for that particular moment, she just couldn't believe it, even if the scene was laid out right in front of her. She expected to see some sign of struggle based on the report her guard gave, but this was a little too much. The Lunar Guard were some of the most skilled warriors in Equestria, there was just no way they could've been defeated so easily. Yet here they were, beaten to a pulp, laid down in the dirt. The Princess's heart was almost immediately overcome with dread as she hurried over to one of her guards. One of the guards groaned as he turned on his side, looking over at Princess Luna who'd arrived at the scene. "Princess?" Princess Luna put on a smile as she gave him a nod of acknowledgement, comforting him. "Yes it is I, please, would you tell me where the one who committed these acts went? I shall deal with it thoroughly." The guard shook his head, drifting off into a peaceful sleep. "Forgive me, Princess..." The guard escort then pointed his hoof up towards the inn of the town hurriedly, "P-Princess! Up there!" Princess Luna's eyes shot upward, straight towards the top of the inn where her guard had been referring to. There she'd finally caught sight of it, the mysterious creature who'd managed to best such a large amount of her guards. Yet, she couldn't really identify it by shape, and majority of its features were masked in shadow. She could take notice of its blood red eyes however, which were fastened on the Princess. Princess Luna looked furiously at the strange creature, unsure of what she was dealing with. She stood and prepared her magical defenses with a flash of her horn. A bright luminescent blue light surrounded her to which she stated, "Come down here! You'll pay for threatening my subjects monster!" The creature spoke softly, revealing a childish, feminine tone. "Is that so?" Princess Luna nodded, "Yes, it is! Tell me, why're you doing this? What's in it for you?" The creature let off a deep groan before rolling its red eyes. It began to trail back and forth casually from atop the Inn. "Hm, I don't know, let me think about it." It paused, "Oh! The fear. I enjoy making ponies scared, in watching them squirm bweheheheh." The Princess formed a frown of obvious discern for the despicable villain. "How dare you." There was a lasting silence between them, as the guard ponies, and even the citizens of the small town all watched from their distant positions. The citizens of Hollow Shades hid within their homes, too afraid to step outside or have any of involvement in the oncoming battle. It wasn't hard to notice a cast of silhouettes spread about the town from within windows, to small nooks between houses. They were there and watching, they just decided not to reveal themselves. One of the guards laying on the ground struggled to reach Princess Luna, attempting to warn her. "Careful Princess, it's very dangerous! You don't want to get too close, keep your distance!" A young foal hopped up and down between two houses as his mother stood behind him. He pointed a hoof at Princess Luna, "Look Mommy! It's Princess Luna, isn't she amazing?" The mother covered her foal's mouth with a hoof before pulling him back closer into her embrace. "Hush now Sweetie, this is serious." The monster raised its tiny palms to the air in a crude yet confident manner. "Mwahahahahaha! Foolish ponies! Nothing can stop me, I shall take over this world, and I shall rule it with blood, death, and fear as my greatest ally!" A shiver ran down Princess Luna's spine as she took a few trots forward. "Not if I have anything to say about it!" The creature lowered its arms before cocking its head observingly at the Princess. "Anything to say? Anything, to, saaaay?" She took a few steps forward, out of the shadows and into the moonlight, revealing her appearance. Princess Luna looked upon the creature in disbelief, due to the fact she didn't recognize it at all. It stood upright on two legs in a similar manner to a minotaur, it didn't have any sort of coat but it did have a mane. It also had two small visible fangs sticking out its mouth and was quite short. Its skin was pale like that of dead oak, giving off a sickeningly gray texture although it had a very young, smooth complexion. Its mane was like that of freshly fallen snow, glistening in the moonlight and almost blinding to the eyes due to how clean it looked. It wore rags for clothing, and even had strange appendages sticking out on its hooves, like a dragon with its claws. What was this thing? The creature placed its hands on its hips, looking down at the Princess. "Well, I'll tell you what I have to say." She took in a deep breath and leaned back, as if about to shout something. Princess Luna gasped! Oh no, was it some sort of attack she was preparing for!? The creature then cheered, "Good job! You really must really be the protector of these lands then!" She placed her finger on her lip, looking down at the Princess in an embarrassed manner. "Did I do okay? I think i did pretty good, I mean, that's how it's supposed to go I think." She scratched the back of her head in contemplation, "I guess I might need some more practice." She leaned forward, smiling at Princess Luna. "But you were great! After so many decades I guess I shouldn't be surprised to see things are so different. Ponies can talk and everything! It's like a dream come true!" Princess Luna once again, looked at a loss for words. She literally couldn't wrap her mind around the situation in any way, since it made absolutely no sense whatsoever. She muttered, "What?...What's?" She looked to one of her guards, as if expecting some form of explanation, while her guards just shrugged at her looking just as confused. She looked back to the creature, baffled, feeling practically compelled to listen just to gain some sense of understanding. The creature hopped from the roof of the inn, as it shrugged at Princess Luna, "Hey! They were the ones who attacked first." She suddenly scowled at one of the guards, causing him to flinch before looking back at Princess Luna. "I was only trying to get something to eat." She approached the Princess without a hint of fear. "What was I supposed to do, just let them come and beat me up, I had the right to defend myself." She paused, crossing her arms and looking up, "Well um, I mean, at least I think I did." She sighed, "Eh, sorry, I have no idea how things work around here." It was at this point many of the town's citizens started emerging from their homes, looking on in curiosity. Princess Luna continued, "B-But you killed the livestock!" Then the cows rose in the background, looking a little dizzy as they emerged from their small pins towards the back of the town. One of the cows raised her hoof, "W-We're, we're okay! Surprisingly." They nodded to one another. One cow attempted to glance down at two puncture holes on its neck to no avail, before it cringed. "At least-" its eye twitched, "I think we're okay?" The creature just sighed again, glaring up at the Princess grumpily. "Listen pony!" She pointed a finger straight at Princess Luna's muzzle, "Killing is against my morale code! I only take what I need and go! I didn't have time to just roam around and look for the perfect meal, which wouldn't have been cows mind you! I've been sleeping for a long time and I needed to satisfy my quench for blood so give me a break! I was waiting forever for you to show up, seeing as these guys wouldn't stop attacking me until some superior ordered em to." She placed her hands back on her hips, smiling up at Princess Luna. "Can't say I'm disappointed though, I've definitely never seen anything like you before in my entire life. You're so beautiful, like the night itself. It all feels so unreal! Glad I decided to take a long nap!" Princess Luna took a few trots back, reasonably skeptical about the creature. "What, are you?" The creature smiled, not hesitating to embrace Princess Luna in a hug, looking up at her. "Never heard of a vampire before?" The guard escort from earlier burst forth, attempting to attack the creature, "P-Princess!" Before the creature could react, Princess Luna raised a hoof halting her guard, remaining focused on the child before her. "A vampire? Can't say that I have. Does this vampire have a name?" She raised a brow at it, just as suspicious but no longer wanting to be the assailant. The little vampire girl nodded, smirking. "It's Sylvia, what's yours? And I'm not little, I'm over a thousand years old." Princess Luna's eyes widened, "A-A, A thousand years old!?" The vampire girl smiled softly as she placed her head against the Princess, closing her eyes. "Looks like you ponies got a lot to learn." Princess Luna had been so thrown off by the appearance and the personality of the creature, that she barely even took notice of the fact it was so close to her. It had its arms wrapped around her and was embracing her affectionately, it was strange, and although she found it off putting at first, she now felt a little, comforted, herself. She frowned a little, looking down at the vampire curiously before hesitantly raising her own hoof, and cautiously wrapping it around her. What was this feeling? She wasn't actually enjoying having this creature act in such a way was she? Nor did she fail to notice its remark regarding her beauty. Princess Luna gulped, unsure of what she was doing, or how to accurately describe her emotions, so she just reacted naturally, returning the hug. "Yes, that we do little um, vampire. If you are truly unfamiliar with the way these lands operate, then I must ask you come with us." Princess Luna sighed, looking down at the vampire questioningly as her cheeks were a hint of faint crimson. "My name it's-" she sighed, "It's Princess Luna, by the way." //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: Questionable Desires //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: Questionable Desires Chapter 2: Questionable Desires Was this meeting fate? As Princess Luna just gazed across the banquet table, looking upon the strange creature which still left her feeling mesmerized, she couldn't help but wonder. It was she who'd made questionable desires herself, when she wished upon the very stars earlier that same night. Was she perhaps responsible for the sudden appearance of this creature? Did this creature come as an answer to her wish? She couldn't help but ponder the idea. Princess Luna shook her head, immediately denying any chance of that possibility being taken seriously. She was forced to avoid eye contact with the girl, as she felt her nervous stature would cause her to lose ground. She gulped afterwords, attempting to keep her cool and shake off any hint of uncertainty about herself. Sylvia didn't make it public information, but she wasn't fooled by the act either. She giggled softly in her seat. The banquet room itself was dimly lit, with candles being the only source of light. The color gave off a depressing orange glow, and allowed Princess Luna to mask her expression quite well from the remaining shadows. The color of the room certainly had a way of making one feel there was something ominous about the entire situation. Sylvia however, just remained still in her seat, as she put on her most welcoming smile. Her blood red iris's never left the ponies, which caused some of the guards to react with caution, and shift about nervously at their posts near Princess Luna. One of Princess Luna's guards approached her from the side worriedly. He placed one hoof over her own, before looking the princess in the eyes. "My Princess, are you alright? If you wish to rest, we'll watch over this creature until you've returned, or until Princess Celestia wakes up." He raised a brow at her, waiting for a response. Princess Luna practically snapped at the guard, before turning to him in a flustered manner. "Watch over her? She managed to best over a dozen of you and you plan to simply watch over her!?" She spoke on impulse, and she spoke out loud. This obviously caused her to bite her tongue in that next moment, before hesitantly glancing over at Sylvia. Sylvia sat at the far end of the banquet table, as she yawned softly. She closed her eyes afterwords, but judging by her expression, she was a little uncomfortable being the center of attention, or at least a topic. She kicked her legs beneath the table, the chair being too tall for her feet to reach the bottom so they just dangled there. As she opened her eyes, she glanced down at the table top, acting inconspicuous of what was happening around her. It was as if she wanted to seem oblivious to the topic although it was fairly obvious she knew full well what was going on. But still she wanted to play this role, still she just kept quiet as she let Princess Luna discuss the situation. These actions worried Princess Luna. She knew nothing about this creature really, nothing besides the fact she could indeed pose a terrible threat if she wished, and that she could very well be manipulating all of them with the childish act. But those were all just assumptions, was she just being paranoid? Sylvia indeed was doing no more than sitting there listening, actually, she'd been listening this entire time. It was Princess Luna who was constantly juggling around with different possibilities, some good some bad, regarding this entire situation. Was she truly taking this all out of proportion? She closed her eyes and sighed, and wasn't certain. If this is what it was going to come down to, then Princess Luna knew she'd be better off seeking the counsel of her sister as well, but she didn't want to disturb Celestia in her sleep either. She paused, before taking a moment to regard Sylvia in a serious manner, "Sylvia." Sylvia immediately snapped back to attention, her white locks flailing a bit at her sudden need to now lock eyes with the Princess. Sylvia looked quite serious, if not more serious than Princess Luna, while appearing just as nervous. She'd actually looked more nervous than Princess Luna had ever seen her before, which the princess certainly took into question. Sylvia remained still, motionless in her seat as she finally managed to bring out the words, "Yes Princess? I-Is there something wrong?" Princess Luna took a moment to stare into Sylvia's eyes, as if analyzing her, and trying to figure her out. What was this so called vampire playing at? Apparently she was over a thousand years old even with that appearance, and able to handle herself, so why did she possess eyes like that? Why did she look to be in such dread, such uncertainty? Why was a creature such as herself, so worried about what was to come next? Or at least, playing it off as such. How could a being possibly as ancient as herself, appear so vulnerable in such a situation? Princess Luna however knew she couldn't let her own expression mirror her thoughts. So she spoke bluntly. "My guards will escort you to the guest quarters, where you will remain for the night. We shall confine you to a single room with no windows, I suggest you stay there if you don't wish to cause any more trouble Sylvia. If you need anything, please don't hesitate to ask my guards, I'm certain they can provide you with whatever you need. This is all only temporary of course, but I must have time to make preparations regarding your stay here in Canterlot." Princess Luna sighed as she looked a Sylvia. "I've taken much risk in bringing you here, I pray that you won't disappoint me." With that Princess Luna scooted back from her seat, and then nudged her head in Sylvia's direction, as if signaling her to stand. Sylvia's expression suddenly eased into a look of relief, as she exhaled, followed by a soft smile. She closed her eyes and spoke in a gratified tone, "O-Of course, whatever you need me to do!" She glanced down at the table top, before muttering softly and bowing her head politely. "Thank you for your kindness and hospitality, Princess Luna." She to scooted back from her seat, before hopping from her chair, nearly tripping herself in the process, before recovering and standing up straight. She still wore a smile, and looked untroubled as she made her way across the room to one of the guards. Sylvia looked at Princess Luna almost worriedly, "Will I be seeing you again Princess?" Princess Luna flushed red, before glancing down at her. "W-What? Don't worry about such things, now hurry along now. I have other issues I need to take care of. Such matters aren't important at the moment anyhow." Princess Luna shooed away the little vampire, as if attempting to get her to go with her guards already. Which she did soon enough. Sylvia moved hesitantly, before just padding along beside two of Princess Luna's lunar guards. They opened the large banquet room doors before exiting, never leaving the vampire's side. Sylvia took a moment to look back at Princess Luna worriedly once again, before flashing her a smile. She then lowered her head, lacing her fingers behind her back as she obediently went along with the guards, who lead her further into the castle and down the hall. Upon their exit, Princess Luna sighed with relief, before looking worried once again. She looked to one of her remaining guards, "My dear subject, my sister still rests, yes?" The guard responded with a simple nod. "Yes Princess Luna, would it be wise to disturb her?" Princess Luna gulped, before glancing worriedly down towards the floor. "I believe the situation calls for it." From that point, Princess Luna herself moved to an opposite pair of doors leading down a different hall, on the other side of the banquet room. She instinctively looked back towards the doors Sylvia departed from, wondering if it was truly wise to separate herself from the vampire. She'd only left a few guards to watch over her, guards that Sylvia could easily dispatch if she'd wished it. No, Sylvia didn't mean them any harm, and she wouldn't dare attempt making a move within this very castle, crawling with dozens more guards, far more than she'd dealt with at Hollow Shades. Plus she was in unfamiliar territory, uncertain of where anything was, no, she would surely follow instructions. Princess Luna gave herself a reassuring nod before making her way out the doors. Leaving the banquet room empty. As Sylvia made her way down the hall, she couldn't help but feel a little out of place. But it wasn't for reasons most would assume. She felt dirty, filthy, ashamed of her raggedy appearance. Such decorative halls, the carpets were spotless, made of a very soft comfortable material. Pictures of ponies she obviously didn't recognize hung about the walls, and pillars of sparkling marble reached all the way to the towering ceilings. It was a castle fit for gods. She felt so small here, in some dirty worn dress, unable to recall the last time she took a shower, and reeking with the faint odor of blood. A blush appeared on her face as she nervously twiddled her fingers, not wanting to dwell on such things. She sighed before giving one of the guards an intense and frightening glare. "Hey guards." One of the guards by Sylvia's side glanced down at her with a gulp, "H-Hm? What is it?" Sylvia continued to glare up at him with one hand firmly on her hip. "Will there be a bath in my room?" The guard's eyes widened before he looked ahead, nodding plainly. "Yes, there will be a bath." Sylvia chuckled, before burying her head in her shoulders a bit. "T-Thanks, um, I just don't want Princess Luna to have to tolerate my appearance anymore." Jeez, was she being a worry worm or what? Surely if they cared about how she looked, then they would've said something by now. She wasn't even sure why she felt so nervous. Usually she'd be a little more confident, but somehow the situation left her feeling vulnerable, submissive, all she wanted to do was please. Well luckily, soon enough it seemed they'd arrived at her room, as the guards suddenly halted. Sylvia looked at the both of them curiously before they turned towards their left, standing in front of a small door. One of the guards used his magic in order to open it, allowing Sylvia to get a good look inside, which she did. She immediately wore a mesmerized expression, almost at a loss for words. She didn't even look at them before asking her question, "This, is a guest room?" The guards looked down at Sylvia in unison, confused,  before one of them responded, "Yes, this is a guest room." Sylvia gulped, as she felt even more nervous now. The room was pretty huge to be a guest room, the curtains, bed, carpeting, practically all the furnishings were fit for royalty. Everything looked to be perfectly laid out, almost too good to be true. There was even a bowl of snacks atop the small table located near the corner of her room, which caused her to recall the fact she no longer had any satisfaction for ordinary foods. Her eyes saddened, she wished she did. She then looked to another door located at the far end of the room, near the back, that must've been the bathroom. Sylvia took a few steps inside, feeling alien about the entire situation. She ran her hand slowly along one of the walls, before asking one of the guards another question. "May I know where Princess Luna has gone?" The guard responded curtly, "She has gone to speak with her sister, Princess Celestia." Sylvia's eyes grew wide, as she immediately stopped what she was doing, looking back towards the door. "Princess Celestia? Princess Luna has a sister?" She paused, "Do they, rule together?" The guard actually spoke with a hint of emotion, gratification, as if he were pleased to speak of the princesses. It was obvious how much he cared for them and their overall safety based on the tone of his voice. "Yes, both of the princesses rule together side by side. While Princess Luna is the guardian of the night, Princess Celestia is our guardian of day. She is the embodiment of the sun itself, our celestial goddess, our protector and ruler. We'd give our lives for both of them a thousand times over. Princess Celestia and Princess Luna has managed to establish a lasting peace in Equestria." A tremble ran down Sylvia's spine as she bit her lower lip. "The sun?" She shook her head, before speaking once more, but possessing a slight shakiness to her voice. "Erhm, has Princess Celestia ruled long?" The guard responded curtly once again, "Yes, she's been ruling longer than most history books can recall." Sylvia gulped once again, before she put on a hopeful smile. "Um, would it be possible for you to grab me one of these history books. I'm very interested in learning more about Princess Luna, as well as Princess Celestia." The guard sighed before shaking his head. "Sadly, there is not much we can do for you in regards to Princess Luna's past history. You see, she has recently returned from a lengthy banishment, having only recently taken up the mantle as Princess once again." Sylvia's expression mirrored one of immediate offense at those words. She spoke with a hint of spite, "Banishment? Why would Princess Luna be banished? She has been nice to me this entire time. Who would banish her?" The guard spoke plainly once again. "Princess Celestia. She had her reasons, I assure you." Sylvia looked struck as she eased into a look of contemplation. She still looked fairly displeased, but still calm as she spoke softly. "I see." Sylvia then put on another smile, as she chuckled a bit. "Uhm, are there any books about Princess Celestia? I'm really interested in learning more about her. It sounds as if everypony must know who she is." The guard looked back at Sylvia for a moment, as if analyzing her. After a few seconds, he simply looked over to his fellow and nodded, as the other guard began making his way down the hall. "Mhm." Sylvia clapped her hands in cheer as she nodded hurriedly to him. "Thank you thank you!" Well, there was an awkward silence since it was only the two of them at this point. Sylvia glanced to her left and right before she broke the silence with a nervous chuckle. "Alright, well um, I think I'm going to go take a bath sir! You know, all dirty and stuff so, that'd wouldn't be nice. Eheh." The guard didn't respond to her this time, he only looked ahead, remaining focused on his task. Sylvia sighed, but she couldn't help but smile a little as well. She just shut the door and then slowly made her way over to the bathroom, closing the door behind her once again as she did so. But upon entering the bathroom, Sylvia immediately dropped to the floor. Her white hair was spread about on the marble tiles as she was hunched over, practically gasping for breath. It was as if she went through a sudden shift in condition, from being absolutely fine to dreadful in a matter of seconds. Sweat poured down her face as upon further inspection, one would be able to tell her lips were deathly dry, as well as her tongue. She kept her focus on the white marble floor, bags beginning to underline her eyes as she seemed to be lost in thought. Animal.... That was the one word that ran through her mind as she remained on the floor. She raised her wrist to her mouth, before biting into it hungrily. A thin stream of crimson flowed down her wrist, small pellets dropping onto the floor as she sucked on the puncture wounds she'd created. She gulped once, before feeling the need to use her opposite hand to forcibly tear her wrist away from her mouth. Afterwords Sylvia licked her lips, before she leaned her head back with a pout. "I guess I need to get used to it again." She looked down at her wrist again with a look of disgust, as the wound she'd just created disappeared in a matter of seconds. Her eyes expressed a hint of disgust as she put on a soft smile. "Hah..." Princess Celestia slept soundly in her bed, actually curled beneath her blankets. If one were to simply watch her, it'd be hard to imagine this was the same all knowing Princess who'd kept the world safe from harm all these years. She appeared so vulnerable in such a state, exposed, peaceful. Though, that image of peace would be shattered in a mere moment with three abrupt knocks that suddenly came to her door. Knock, knock, knock! Princess Celestia buried her head against her pillow, as if attempting to ignore the knocks. She was likely still half asleep during the whole thing, still pretending that she was going delusional and the knocks weren't actually happening, an excuse to remain in bed. But the knocks continued, consecutively. Knock, knock, knock, knock, knock! Princess Celestia's peaceful expression soon turned into a frustrated scowl, something unexpected of her. She groaned heavily before grinding her teeth and turning to the opposite end. It would've been amusing to say the least for anypony to see her in such a kiddish state. Like a filly not wanting to wake up for school. "Sister? It's me, Luna! Do forgive me for disturbing you at such a late hour, but it's very important!" Princess Celestia's expression eased up as she only sighed. Her horn started to glow faintly, before the door handle possessed the same faint glow as her horn, and opened itself. Princess Luna stood in the open doorway of course, and didn't seem that surprised to see Princess Celestia was still in bed, not wanting to get up. Actually, the sight brought a smile to Princess Luna's face, one of relief. But that smile slowly faded as she made her way into the room, shutting the door behind her. Princess Celestia leaned up for a moment, before rubbing her eyes and looking at her sister with a caring smile, that all too familiar look. "So Luna, what is it you wanted to talk about?" Princess Luna paced back and forth in Celestia's room for a moment, obviously nervous about discussing the whole thing. So she simply began to speak, "Celestia, I believe I've found something very dangerous, but I don't know if I really should feel the need to do anything about it. I wanted your opinion on the matter," Princess Luna paused, hurriedly shaking her head. "B-But in no way do you need to get involved! I mean, it's just she seems nice enough. Although a little um, different, and quite questionable with her actions, I feel she truly aims to please." Princess Luna sighed, closing her eyes and lowering her head. "I've brought her here, for I believed it would be better to have her secured in a place where we could keep an eye on her, rather than having her randomly roam." Princess Celestia at this point was a little more than skeptical, as she immediately rose from her bed. Her eyes scanned Luna up and down observantly, as she had a look of further concern. "Luna, do tell me, what is it you've found exactly?" She then made her way over to her chamber room mirror. Levitating a comb that she used to brush through her mane in a delicate manner. Princess Luna responded with a hint of worry, "A human vampire." But it was as if those words caused a sudden change in the entire atmosphere regarding the situation, for Princess Celestia paused. Frozen in place as her comb ceased to move. Her eyes were wide as she was struck with a look of disbelief, while she had trouble wrapping her mind around what Luna had just said. Her expression actually began to represent one of great offense as she continued to try making sense of the words, before she laughed softly, shaking her head and continuing to comb her mane. Princess Luna didn't fail to notice Celestia's reaction. "Sister, is something wrong?" Princess Celestia closed her eyes and shook her head. "Forgive me Luna, I thought you just said you found a human vampire." Princess Luna fell silent for a moment. Her eyes nervously shifted to the left and right, unsure if she wanted to confirm her Sister's obvious fears. She looked worriedly back at Celestia before stating it once again, "But Sister, that is what I said." She gulped, "I've found a creature that refers to itself as a human vampire." Princess Celestia's comb dropped to the floor, as it was fairly obvious she'd been trembling at this point. It appeared as light shivering, but she still seemed to be having trouble accepting the reality of Luna's words, but nor did she look to be denying them any further. She was silent, as she kept her eyes on her counter top, standing in front of her mirror. She needed a few seconds in order to gather her composure. But in that next moment, Princess Celestia hurriedly turned towards Luna with a look of dread. Her eyes scanned Luna up and down again as the princess began running her hoof through Luna's mane. "Luna! W-What do you mean you've discovered a human vampire!? That's obviously nonsense! That is nothing to joke about! Please tell me this is another one of your stupid pranks! What you say is impossible!" Princess Celestia was dying to hear Princess Luna was only kidding however. It's all she wanted to hear. But after taking some time to take in Luna's reaction, she was being forced to realize this was all very real. Something she herself was unprepared for, nor could have ever expected. But being herself, Princess Celestia quickly regained her composure, running the situation through her head masterfully. "This is no light situation, this is a very serious matter. I need you to tell me, did she bite you anywhere?" Princess Celestia looked towards the floor, almost afraid to hear the answer. "How could this have happened? Of course you should've came to me. Of course I should've educated you on such possibilities before sending you out there. W-We must act swiftly, you said it was here in the castle did you not? Such a creature, here, in our very city. We need to alert the guards and you need to come with me, I have to make sure that you're oka-" Princess Luna practically couldn't believe it, seeing Celestia act in such a manner. "C-Celestia! Calm down, I'm fine. She didn't do anything to me! What's wrong, what are you even going on about?" She'd reacted with frustration, "You obviously know what these vampires are sister. So what is it that you're so worried about? I believe you should meet this creature for yourself before worrying so much. She's harmless." Princess Celestia looked into Luna's eyes, attempting to understand her view. Were they truly on the same page here? Celestia had trouble taking this all in. Not only had Luna brought a vampire into the city, but she was suggesting it was harmless? But Princess Celestia also trusted her sister's opinion, and she hadn't met this vampire yet either, so Luna's words were fairly true. She took in a deep breath, calming down, before nodding slowly. "Y-Yes, of course. Yes, I need to meet it first of course, before judging it so harshly." Princess Celestia gulped as she went for the door immediately. She paused, taking a moment to speak. "Take me to this vampire Luna." Princess Luna couldn't help but worry for her sister, especially seeing her in such a state. "Celestia?...." Princess Celestia glanced back. "We must hurry! Now's not the time to sit and wonder." She paused once again. "You can do that later." With that Celestia exited the room, before the clatter of more guard's had appeared in the halls. Princess Luna followed after Celestia, at a much slower pace however. Why the cause of such uproar? Did she truly bring in such a threat into the very castle? It caused Princess Luna's emotions to boil, since that meant she'd put her own subjects in horrible danger. Could these vampires truly have posed such a threat, that it caused her sister to worry this much? It wasn't all too strange to think of it as a possibility. Princess Luna had a feeling all her questions would be answered soon enough however. Sylvia cheered as she'd emerged from the bathtub. She reached for the sky, obviously satisfied in feeling so clean. She clenched her fist before smirking, "Hmph! Nothing like a bath to rid you of the smell of death." She scratched her cheek for a second, looking a little confused. "Well, I mean I guess I'm considered dead so it would make sense. Well, maybe not." She tapped her lower lip, literally dwelling on the idea. "Am I considered dead?" She looked at the palm of her hand. "I guess you can't consider this anything else." She smiled softly closing her eyes, "Disgusting!" She yawned, stretching before heading over and grabbing a towel off the rack, and wrapping it around herself. She made her way outside the bathroom, running a bit of the towel through her snow white hair. But upon exiting the bathroom, Sylvia immediately noticed something fairly strange about the situation. Well, something you'd have to be clueless to miss. In her room, there was a pool of multiple guards, some dressed in golden armor rather than black and blue, all guarding the exit to her room. Sylvia blinked a bit before chuckling, "Um, is something wrong ponies?" Her gaze drifted, but she still gave off an indirect blood-lust in her defense. The guards remained silent, simply ensuring to guard the door to her room. Sylvia smiled at them, cocking her head to the left and lacing her fingers behind her back. "Are you going to answer me?" The guards didn't answer, they only remained silent as they kept their eyes locked on the vampire. Sylvia hopped on the bed before laying down. Her eyes widened as she noticed laying at her side was a small book, which her eyes fastened on the title. Love of the Sun. She smiled, before looking at the palm of her hand and chuckling. "Such a shame." //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3: Reasonable Doubt //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3: Reasonable Doubt CHAPTER 3: REASONABLE DOUBT It was little to no time at all before Princess Luna and Celestia arrived at Sylvia's quarters. By the looks of it at first, everything was absolutely fine, both guards standing post outside the room, as they regarded both Princess Celestia and Luna with salutes before opening the door and granting them entry. Princess Celestia looked to her sister before raising a hoof, making her way in first. Princess Luna followed in suit. Yet as they'd arrived in the room, they glanced around, first towards the bed, then bathroom door, and realized there was nothing but a bundle of guards in here standing watch over nothing. Sylvia had disappeared entirely. Princess Luna was at first simply confused before she felt overcome with worry, and soon bewilderment, and panic. "Sylvia? Sylvia!?" She trotted further into the room to ensure she wasn't simply misinterpreting things. Princess Celestia's expression worsened before she reacted in a similar manner, except there was a slight hint of annoyance in her voice. "What happened to her? Where's the vampire?" The guards stood there silently as they'd looked dazed, almost as if they were under some sort of spell. It was at that moment Princess Celestia's eyes widened before she covered her face with a hoof. "Of course..." She sighed as she made her way to Luna, who was still scurrying about the room looking for the creature. "Luna..." Princess Luna still wore an expression of worry as she used her telekinetic magic to tear off the blankets and sheets from the bed, before checking under it. She then went to the bathroom before checking even the tub for any trace of the creature left under her care. "S-Sister where could she have gone? I told her to stay put here!" Princess Celestia sighed again, before regarding her sister with a look of conflict. Did Luna truly care about the whereabouts of this creature so much, despite the risk? "Luna, vampires have a tendency of being able to read into things easier than other races. They also possess heightened senses, as well as very capable magic in our world. It's of no surprise to me your, Sylvia, had caught wind of my worries and has made her escape." Princess Celestia paused, "When you escorted her here did she get a good look through the city and castle?" Princess Luna's expression at first represented one of surprise, before it worsened into offense and anger. "Sister! I absolutely WILL NOT approve of some sort of, hunt, for her if that's what you're implying. She's under my care and jurisdiction and obviously you've been keeping secrets from me, which could've possibly frightened her off!" Princess Luna stomped her hoof angrily. "I will find her and escort her back. Then you can talk to her as much as you'd like but only with my go ahead! For now I don't want her any more frightened than she may very well be now." Princess Luna stomped past the guards stationed in the room before wincing at each of them, then glaring back at her sister. "And for such a dangerous creature, she was awfully considerate to simply leave our guards unharmed Celestia!" Then barged out the room, slamming the door shut behind her. Princess Celestia didn't seem too surprised by Luna's reaction as she muttered softly to herself. "It is of no surprise to me that not even you know of the world these creatures emerged from sister." Princess Celestia closed her eyes a bit, looking tired. "The scars of that world still plaque our peaceful lands. I only hope this one is different from the rest." Princess Celestia cast a spell as it affected each and every one of the guards in the room. "I welcome you back from the land of dreams my dear guards. Did you sleep well?" The guards all looked a little confused before taking a second to recall their orders. They each then reacted with shock and dismay at the sight of the Princess. "P-Princess forgive us we've!-" Princess Celestia raised a hoof with a smile. "No need, you all did what you could under the circumstances. Princess Luna is out looking for the creature as of now. Please, would you tell me what she was like? I'm very interested." One of the guards saluted before nodding. "Of course Princess!" He paused with a cough before continuing. "Aherm. I report that the creature lacked any coat whatsoever, and was naked, such as that of a reptile. She did however possess a mane like us ponies, snow white in color and not much difference in variation when compared to the rest of her physical appearance. Her eyes were red. She spoke with cunning yet sincerity, and I had a hard time trusting anything she said was far from deceit. From what I can recall she approached us with a book she'd requested from one of the guards, relating to your history Princess, before we were lost under her spell." Princess Celestia trotted back and forth. "A book about me you say? You mean she wasn't aware of who I was?" The guard shook his head. "Judging by the evidence, no Princess, she was not familiar with your history." Princess Celestia rubbed her muzzle before dwelling upon the situation. "Surprising, so she is a more recent arrival." What was she even doing? Princess Luna couldn't make sense of her own actions as she was committing them. What compelled her to chase after this creature even though she barely knew anything about it, why it was here, and what its true goals even were? Was it Sylvia's kindness which compelled her to set things right between the two? The simple misunderstanding that she owed it to the vampire to know that she wasn't at fault for scaring her off? Or was it something else entirely? Was there something which'd caused the Princess to not want to lose her connection to this foreign creature no matter what? Her heart raced as she thought about the reasons. The reasons why she simply wanted to do anything she could to find Sylvia at this moment, rather than have her disappear off the face of the earth. Princess Luna ignored her guards despite them voicing their worries, seeing her trot through the castle all the way to the entrance doors then outside. Princess Luna continued, down the steps, and even into the castle courtyard as she glanced around the wide open city of Canterlot. Ponies trotted around going about their regular mid night routines, without any panic whatsoever. Based on what she was seeing, there was no sign Sylvia was ever here to begin with. Princess Luna's eyes depicted sadness before she glanced to the lower left, reflecting on Sylvia's words regarding her age. According to the vampire she was a thousand years old, or older; what did that mean? Sylvia appeared to be a child at heart, lacking any knowledge of this world, so how could she possibly be that age? So many questions and a slim chance to find the answers at this rate.  Princess Luna groaned a little, before lowering her head and turning back towards the castle, going off into a sluggish depressed trot up the steps. Wherever Sylvia was, be it somewhere in the Castle, or even out there in the world. Finding her again would likely take much more time than she'd wanted, and Princess Luna couldn't help but feel flustered by it all. Sylvia felt mesmerized by the city lights which surrounded her, as well as the large variation of ponies. It truly was like a depiction of a storybook, or a fairy tale from a little girl's dreams. The architecture, the way the floors were all made of marble or rune etched concrete. How everything around her seemed to possess some sort of glow, beautiful in every way shape and form. She was lost in a paradise, and didn't mind being so. Yet as Sylvia kept herself wrapped in her towel and clutched the book with her naked hand, she could feel the stares all around her. There were even mutters and whispers which left her feeling uncomfortable to say the least. Sylvia currently sat at the train station, on a bench by her lonesome as she'd waited for the train to arrive. She couldn't cover her face or a large portion of her legs. She felt her appearance was also shameful compared to the ponies which trotted by her. They looked at her as if looking upon an exotic animal. "What is that?" was the most common question she'd heard. As Sylvia sat on the bench, she began to drift back to her past which seemed to give off a familiar atmosphere. A thought back to a time when she sat on a bench, much like she was doing now, well dressed of course. A time where instead of ponies, creatures much more like herself walked back and forth going about their daily lives, but it was only ironic due to the fact, their questions were the same. What's with her skin, is she sick? Why's her hair like that? Is she albino? Gross. Sylvia gripped the book firmly before wincing a little, and baring her fangs on the end of her lips, unable to hide her anger in the past she couldn't change. She sighed as she thought about Princess Luna as well, before lowering her head. "You probably hate me huh?..." Sylvia sat there with a faint smile for a moment, before her expression steadily broke down and she found herself tearing up, her eyes red and puffy as she frowned, before wiping them and exhaling softly. She just sat there then, still waiting for the train. "Oh, now what exactly do we have here?" A pony stopped in front of Sylvia curiously. Sylvia looked upon the pony with wide eyes, wondering who he was. He was a pony with a monocle, and a very fancy blue mustache and combed back mane. He reminded her of a butler of sorts, and could tell he was probably rich. The stallion adjusted his monocle before observing her closely. "I must say I've never seen something quite like yourself before? Might I ask where you're from? Do you speak? Perhaps you are a pet with a master?" Sylvia chuckled, closing her eyes and giggling afterwords. "Eheh...No, I'm a human vampire sir. Sylvia is my name." The stallion's eyes widened. "Oh a what now? A human you say; that's quite interesting! Can't say I met one before." Sylvia shook her head. "You probably don't ever want to sir. We're not very great, for many reasons." The stallion laughed before raising a brow. "Sir? Now no need for that; it's Fancy Pants, at your service." He eyed her up and down, "And where might you be off to in such a hurry little lady? Judging by your attire I can't imagine you had a whole lot of time to prepare yourself for your own departure." Was that a used towel she was wrapped in? Sylvia smiled before flusing somewhat, giving a crooked smile. She clenched the towel a little. "Well at the moment I'm just trying to get out of the city. I'll probably just get off at the nearest town for now, until things cool off with Prin-" But she stopped herself, which left Fancy Pants regarding her with further curiosity. Sylvia dared not mention Princess Celestia or Luna, seeing as if she did, it was more than likely that Fancy Pants would inform the guards. So she just continued to smile, recovering from her near mishap. "Well, just the nearest town I mean. S-Sir." Fancy Pants responded with a crooked smile of his own, but couldn't help but smirk. He closed his eyes and nodded. "I see, well best of luck to you then little human. I'm not sure if they'll have any clothes that fit your shape at any of our 'pony' stores, but if you do happen to come across such a place-" Fancy Pants immediately took a hold of her hand before dropping a small sack of bits onto her palm. "Please don't hesitate to replace that current getup."  The stallion then strode past the bench, and the human vampire in order to go about his business. "Now I must be off, take care of yourself little human. It can be a dangerous world out there for such mysterious creatures." Sylvia stared at the sack of coins for a few seconds before immediately standing up, simply allowing her towel to drop, not thinking about it and just wanting to thank the kind pony. She called out to him, "Fancy Pants!" Fancy Pants stopped, before glancing back at the young girl and adjusting his monocle. "Hm?" A bright vibrant smile decorated her face as she nodded to him, "Thank you very much!" Fancy Pants blinked a bit before smiling back. "My pleasure little lady. Now please put that towel back on." Coincidentally it was also at this moment, that Sylvia's train would arrive. "All aboard for Ponyville, Station 4. Please enter in a calm orderly fashion, thank you for your cooperation." Sylvia picked up her towel before wrapping it around herself once again. She then waved at Fancy Pants, hurrying onto the train as the doors closed behind her. By that point Fancy Pants had already gone about his way. Sylvia exhaled softly, and felt somewhat relieved to have a form of currency in this world, although she didn't really need sustenance, her priority at the time probably would require some form of money. She'd also take Fancy Pant's advice and perhaps find some clothes to put on as well. Most ponies in this city seemed pretty high class and well off as well. She took a seat and then proceeded by just staring out the window, taking in the scenery of the night sky and rolling hills in the distance. The world seemed so vast, new, unfamiliar,....exciting. Yet Sylvia's heart still ached when she thought of Princess Luna. She probably should've just told Princess Luna more about her race when she had the chance. Fancy pants continued on his way through Canterlot, but to his surprise he found the city was more lively than usual, with guards that is. Lunar guards were a bit more active for some reason, and it caused the stallion to worry a bit. He glanced around to see they were questioning some ponies, but not so much so as to cause a panic, although they couldn't help but draw attention. Fancy Pants looked for a free guard, before making his way over to one himself. Although he was planning to speak first, the guard inclined the moment he saw Fancy Pants approach. "Hail citizen! Could you spare a moment of your time?" The guard saluted him. Fancy Pants adjusted his monocle again. "It's quite fine my good sir, but may I go out of my way as to guess that all of this involves a strange little creature roaming about the city?" He tapped his muzzle. "A human was it?" The guard's eyes widened as he glanced around before immediately getting closer to Fancy Pants. "Well you see, Princess Luna has lost something of great importance, a harmless pet, one of no danger whatsoever! Absolutely ZERO risk, sooooo if you diiiiiid happen to come across this human vampire, where might you have seen her good citizen?" Fancy Pants blinked a bit, before simply adding on. "She was at the station, I'm fairly certain I wasn't the only one who saw her there. Well perhaps others saw her wandering about the city previously but as of the latest update, yes she was planning to depart from the station. Although I can't say where she planned on going. She'd suggested the nearest city." The guard immediately called out to his fellows, flapping his bat pony wings and letting off a howling whistle. "Team! Back to the castle, we must inform the Princess of this news as soon as possible!" Fancy Pants watched the guards depart from that particular area of the city with a slight frown before scratching the back of his own mane. "Well, I do hope I didn't trouble the girl's life too much." He then went about his business again, continuing on through the city, as he was soon joined by some squawking fans chanting his name. As he made his way off into the distance he sighed, "It is certainly going to be a long night." Princess Luna overlooked the city from the throne room porch. She still appeared fairly upset with the current situation, as she possessed an intense glare, reflecting on what'd happened. Princess Celestia made her way into the room soon after. "Luna? Could we talk?...." Princess Luna glanced back at Celestia still with that same glare, before she steadily mellowed out into a look of hesitation, then sorrow. She sighed heavily before giving Celestia a reluctant nod and muttering, "Yes, of course sister. Please forgive me for earlier, I was only upset due to your sudden actions." She paused, "I see now it was all for the greater good of our subjects and they come first before anything, so, yes, please forgive me." Princess Luna lowered her head a little before returning back to overlooking the city. Princess Celestia frowned herself before making her way to her sister's side. "I'm sorry as well, my experience with vampires has not been pleasant sister. There are many things that happened while....while...." Princess Celestia's voice died down a bit as she had a bit of trouble speaking about the topic. "While your 'true' self was away. There were many things I'd rather not speak of, and in all honesty, never expected to have to speak of again. That's obviously no longer the case. I never foresaw this, let alone you caring for the creature." She to began to overlook the city as well. "But if Canterlot isn't already in a state of panic, I feel it's safe to assume that for now, I lacked the better judgement." Princess Luna remained silent as her mood worsened, expressing sadness and turmoil. Princess Celestia looked to her sister worriedly. "But I must know sister, why do you care for it so much?" Princess Luna turned red a bit as she seemed thrown off, before she recovered and shook her head in her own defense. "I-I don't care for her! It's just a matter of common courtesy alright!?" She huffed, breathing heavily before frowning again and turning away from Celestia in embarrassment. "I simply don't want there to be any misunderstandings between us, so until then, I will find her and c-clear things up between us." Princess Celestia couldn't help but chuckle a little, as she raised a hoof to her mouth. Princess Luna snapped, stomping a hoof. "I-It's your fault this all happened anyway sister! If you hadn't sent the entire blasted guard into her quarters she wouldn't have been frightened off! S-She's so small, she might've assumed we were planning to harm her, or worse! Now she's out there again in the cold dark, doing who knows what!?" Princess Celestia only continued to chuckle, unable to contain her amusement. Princess Luna snarled, "I don't see what's so funny about all this!!" But before the situation could drag on, one of the guards soon burst into the throne room. "Princess Luna!" Princess Luna was about to make another comment in regards to Princess Celestia, but stopped herself to focus more so on her guard, her mouth still hung open with her hoof raised and pointed straight at Celestia, but her eyes were on her guard. She just stood there silently, as if giving him the signal to continue. The guard saluted, "We've received word on the creature's whereabouts! It has fled the city by use of train!" Princess Luna lowered her hoof before teleporting over to her guard's side. "The train you say? Do you have any idea where she may have gone? We must find her at once! And remember if you do, DO NOT, frighten her. Be kind and gentle, and ensure she knows she's a welcomed guest, despite what she is. Do you understand?" The guard nodded and gave Princess Luna another salute, "Judging by the report there is no specified location confirmed, but we might have an idea of where she's head off to," before flying back out of the throne room. Princess Luna touched upon the floor before breaking off into a trot towards the exit. Princess Celestia called out to her, "Where might you be going Luna?" Princess Luna glanced back at Celestia with a wince. "I'm heading out sister!...I'll be back soon." She then exited the throne room swiftly, ensuring to slam the two massive doors behind her as well. Then ensuring they were shut with some light rattling that could be heard, before trotting hurriedly down the hall. Princess Celestia smiled softly to herself, "I will delay the sun for some time, just for you dearest sister." Princess Celestia then began to overlook the city again as she looked up towards the night sky with a sigh. "Because even if you're as she says, how long can you expect to outrun the sky itself little vampire. Few of you ever could." Sylvia's situation didn't appear to be getting any better as she now made way through the barren small town of Ponyville. Well at least during this time everything felt quite barren, there being practically nopony out and about. The few that were didn't fail to notice Sylvia, but she reacted as if she didn't mind, she knew causing a commotion would certainly cause a scene and that's the last thing she'd wanted. Although such lessons were old news, she knew to abide by that lifestyle long ago. Reacting to such trivial things would only cause her even more trouble. Yet even though she said that, she knew she couldn't continue this trek alone, especially if she planned to find a particular place. Sylvia sighed before gulping, and looking to one of the ponies and approaching them. She put on a smile, "Uhm, excuse me." The pony halted as she'd eyed Sylvia with wide paranoid eyes. "Yes!?" Sylvia chuckled a bit before rubbing her forehead nervously, "Uhm, is there a library anywhere in town." The pony's hoof trembled as she'd simply pointed in the direction of Golden Oak's Library. "Yes, Golden Oak's, it's the large tree decorated as a home, it is our main library here in Ponyville." She added on curiously, "Might you be here to see Princess Twilight? I wouldn't be surprised to find out she gets such interesting visitors." Sylvia blinked a bit before shaking her head. "Princess Twilight? N-No, I wasn't even aware there was a Princess here." The pony blinked before looking ahead, "Oh I see. Well then, take care erhm...whatever you might be." Before she went off into a trot, further into town and towards one of the houses off in the distance. Sylvia waved at her, before making her way off towards Golden Oak's Library. "Anoooother Princess?....Jeez...." Princess Twilight Sparkle wasn't doing anything too tedious. She was simply sitting at her study, flipping through the pages of yet another book. The place was tidy thanks to Spike for the most part, with everything in a neat order and dusted off. Twilight had a couple of lamps on, which gave off a nice orange glow around the place, and allowed her to relax for the most part. Twilight also had a cup of tea nearby, with some small packs given to her by Rarity, recommended by the pony for when she found herself on nights such as these reading a good book. Twilight felt she couldn't have been more grateful as she was right now for such advice, as she chuckled, continually and happily gliding through the pages. Her eyes scrolling over each and every letter, not missing a single word. Yet suddenly, breaking the silence and quiet ambiance would be three abrupt knocks at the door. Twilight blinked a bit, before turning around a little and looking at the door curiously. It was late at night and she didn't expect any visitors, so it seemed quite suspicious. "Hello? Is somepony there?" The voice which'd answered was high pitched and sounded like it belonged to a little filly. Yet Twilight didn't recognize it and it left her feeling puzzled, she was certain she knew every little filly in town by now. "Yes, excuse me Princess, I'm sorry to disturb you so late at night. But I was wondering if I could perhaps have a look at the books in the library. There are a few I'm looking for and it'd be really helpful if I could get a quick look at the ones available to me here." The voice paused for a good few seconds. "P-Please...I'm sorry, I can come back another time if you need me to." Princess Twilight rose from her seat as she chuckled a bit shaking her head. "No no no it's fine it's fine! Just give me a second and I'll get the door for you." Princess Twilight took a fraction of a second to teleport to the door, before opening it with little effort on her part due to her magic. She had a wide welcoming smile on her face as she'd looked outside, then down at the individual in front of her. To where she saw a tiny human girl standing there with a smile very similar to her own, with a large book hugged tightly against her chest. Twilight giggled, "Oh look, a human." There was a lengthy silence between the two then. "................................." Twilight's eyes snapped wide into a look of utter shock, as she gasped. "A HUMAAAAAAAAAN!?!?!!?!?!" She then immediately snatched the little girl with her hooves with a look of intense paranoia, before sticking her head out the door and looking around to make sure nopony saw her do the deed, as she then slammed the door shut behind her. Twilight immediately carried the little human over to her study, placing her on the desk then removing the towel. Sylvia remained still as she just looked at Twilight curiously, allowing the mare to do whatever she liked. Twilight ran a hoof down her face delicately before running it steadily down her body, getting a good feel of the vampire and then even going so far as to inspect her hair by the individual strands. Twilight felt as if she were about to yell but caught on, and lowered her voice to a minimum. "What're you doing here!? How did you even get here!?" Sylvia chuckled a bit before cocking her head to the right. "I took the train, and I came here to find some books. You don't remember what I told you Princess?" She looked fairly confused by Twilight's questions and concern. Twilight looked into the girl's eyes with worry. "What? No no no forget the books little girl! I mean how in the world did you even get into Equestria!? You shouldn't be here! Did you come through the mirror?" Twilight began pacing back and forth as she then muttered, "I've got to inform Princess Celestia about this right away....Spiiiiiiiiiiiiike!!!" Sylvia at that moment clutched onto Twilight's coat tightly before looking into her eyes pleadingly. "WAIT!" Twilight paused, before looking back at Sylvia worriedly herself still. "Huh?" Sylvia shook her head. "P-Please, don't tell Princess Celestia that I'm here!...I...I don't think she'll approve of me being here. I think she knows a lot about what I am!" She lowered her head and voice, "P-Please, just...I'll just leave. Nopony ever has to know I was here. It's okay you don't need to lend me books miss." Sylvia was trembling as she kept a firm grip on Twilight, which Twilight didn't fail to notice as she felt somewhat stunned by the human's words. Twilight lowered her frame before tilting Sylvia's head up to look her in the eyes. "Now now wait a second, we're not going to hurt you. Ponies are nice okay? Especially Princess Celestia, she's the last one you need to worry about. What makes you think she'd detest you because of what you are?" Sylvia added on. "Because I'm no normal human, I'm a vampire. We're very dangerous." At that moment Spike came rushing down the stairs hurriedly. "What is it Twilight!? What's wro-" then he caught sight of Sylvia as he gasped much like Twilight originally did and then tumbled down the stairs, passed out. Sylvia's expression lit up as she'd hurried over to the fainted dragon. "A baby dragon! How amazing!" She then began poking the little purple dragon playfully, chuckling as she did so, knelt down before him at the bottom of the steps. Twilight just stood in place for a few seconds, pondering the word. Vampire? Where had she heard that word before? No she'd never heard it mentioned in such a way, but she had heard something similar to it. Twilight ignored Sylvia for a few seconds before hurrying over to one of the bookshelves and then letting her eyes go over each of the individual sections. She then blinked as she saw what she was looking for, pulling it out with her telekinetic magic. "Ah here it is, pony myths and legends." Twilight immediately flipped through the pages of the book, turning more towards the end with a V category specified in the pages of the book. Twilight squinted a bit as she focused on one particular page and then cocked her head to the side a bit. "There it is....a myth originating around the time frame of 900 years ago...an old filly's ghost story...vamponies?....." Twilight then glanced back worriedly at Sylvia, before gulping a bit. She whispered silently to herself as the little vampire continued to poke Spike playfully. "Just where exactly did you come from all of a sudden?............" Meanwhile, back in the small town of Hollow Shades, more trouble was stirring apparently. Exiting from one of the numerous shabby buildings would be a hooded pony, wearing a playful smirk. Her coat was a pale blue color as her mane was a darker shade of sapphire, and her eyes were yellow, possessing slits like those of a sinister serpent or perhaps a dragon. She was cackling softly, as she ran her hoof down a small alicorn pendant in the form of a necklace. She licked her lips, and ran her tongue over one of her fangs. "It's about time, sheesh."
