Darkness rising

Years before King Sombra tyrant ruling in crystal empire, his father Shadow Rise arrived with very young Sombra. He wasn't very talkative colt speaking only when needed to or appearing necessary for him, he didn't like the idea of his father taking over a kingdom, to him it made no sense at all since they had place to rule over. He was rather concerned more about getting his cutie mark than new kingdom to rule. While young shadow colt explored crystal empire, Shadow Rise went to the castle.

Sunny Heart, a wise old alicorn mare, doesn't have much time to live, compared to other alicorns, crystal princesses doesn't live eternity, also its the crystal heart who chooses suitable pony which heart is pure for a crystal princess.

Sunny Heart: Welcome, to the crystal empire, I expected you, could you tell me what brings you there?

Shadow Rise: I appreciate your welcoming, but i don't think this place is going to be yours for long *he grinned imagining his plan becoming reality*

Sunny Heart: Why it is true soon, a new crystal princess will take over my duties, I'm sure crystal Heart picked her wisely.

Meanwhile, Diara's parents, a soon to be crystal princess Diara,s mother Heartfull Light and Diara,s Father Dark Chemical, like other ponies didn't knew about a dangerous stallion talking with their actual crystal princess. Sunny Heart

Heartfull Light: honey! come here quick! Diara is trying to say her first words!

Dark Chemical: I'm coming I'm coming!

before he ran off to living room to hear their little filly atempt to talk, he was doing a potion which changes anypony into alicorn. It doesn't matter if its normal pony unicorn or pegasus  it's very familiar to milk. He was quite forgetful stallion and completely forgot about the potion in his hoof and quickly made his way into living room

Dark Chemical: oh! let me get camera and film it!

he placed the potion on a table, and went to search for a camera. Heartfull Light thinking its milk in the bottle picked it up opened it and checked if its warm enought for Diara to drink, she took bottle for little ponies and poured the potion into it,

Heartfull Light: its time for your milk my sweet little filly!

she raised little Diara sat in chair with her, fed her the potion and thought "how nice of my husband, he made milk for our little princess, he is such good father" smiling to herself.

Finally Mr chemical arrived with camera in his hoof, but dropped it after he saw emptied potion bottle, but it was too late Heartfull Light already fed it to Diara

Dark Chemicals: honey....don't tell me you did what i think you did?

Heartfull Light looked at him confused as she has no idea what he is talking about

Heartfull Light: huh? i just gave our beloved daughter milk that you prepared for her.

Dark Chemicals: but dear that was my new experimental potion

Heartfull Light gasped : oh my! what will happen to her now? *gets worried*

Dark Chemicals: Don't worry its not that bad! though i assume she may turn into an alicorn if i made a success, but *has sad expression on his face* she might be unable to live normally.

Heartfull Light hugs her daughter: oh my little filly what i have done, i should have asked daddy first.

Dark Chemicalls: its not your fault dear, i shouldn't be so forgetful, it wouldn't happen and she would be just a crystal pony, anyway im sure she will grow into wonderful mare!

Hearfull Light: Yes! *smiles* we will raise a beautiful mare.

Though they still didn't know how much everything will change in the little filly life.

Sunny Heart: Well then, will you tell me what brings you here?

Shadow Rise: *his grin grew* I'm here to take over crystal empire and nothing will stop me

Sunny Heart: *calmly answered* is that so? and how are you going to do it? you do realize to acheive this you would have to deal with me first and then find new crystal princess?

Shadow Rise: I already took care of it my dear, her name is heartfull Light isn't it? *when he spoke of new crystal princess name Sunny Heart eyes widened, name of a new princess was always kept secret till they sat on the throne*

Sunny Heart: h-how did you find out? its impossible only a few can know new crystal princess name!

Shadow Rise: Enough of the talk don't you agree? its time for you to be gone * his horn started to glow in dark colors, his eyes turned green red, and purple smoke was oozing out*.

Sunny Heart quickly created a magical shield around herself to protect her. as his dark magic hit the barrier,it  at first didn't do much damage to it, but after a bit a crack could be heard as the barrier slowly gave in The princess gasped in disbelief and her eyes widened as her barrier broke "no...impossible!"

Quickly the old princess used her magic to shoot back at him, their magics colliding with each other 'I cannot be defeated!' she thought as she fought with the evil stallion. Still she was old, so her powers weren't as strong as she was in her young age. Slowly his dark powers reached her turning her into black statue, silencing her forever.

Outside, the crystal heart's magic had stopped and it had fallen to the ground, its bright glow lost. Crystal ponies slowly realizing what just happened. with tears in their eyes  though 'it can't be, not our princess' 'please it can't be true!', crying could be heard everywhere. Diara and her parents went for a walk, crying they heard worried them, especially Heartfull Light, she is supposed to be crystal princess soon after all. Seeing the crystal heart on the ground and seeing crying ponies was really a sad sight, which made them even more worried.

Heartfull Light could not believe what was happening 'why? it..its too soon!' she ran to the castle ignoring his yelling what's wrong after her. She approached the castle, stopping in tracks as she saw a stallion coming outside. He spotted her and smiled evily

Shadow Rise: Who my eyes are seeing, you just made it easier to find you

Heartfull Light: who are you? oh never mind, move aside i need to see princess!

Shadow Rise: Go ahead, being a statue fits her perfectly

Heartfull Light: wha...what? what have you done to the princess?! *glares at him*

Shadow Rise: Not much , I just got rid of that annoying old mare! and now its time for you to share her fate.

Heartfull Light: your evil plans end here, now!

Shadow Rise: too bad my dear,but i already won.

The evil stallion used his magic once more, and in response the mare used her in defense. their magic collided in between them, just like had happened before when the evil stallion attacked the princess, the collision of their magic creating a small magical explosion. Before smoke completely cleared they shoot magic at each other again, causing the same effect After smoke cleared once more she saw with corner of her eye Dark Chemicals with Diara, running to her, panting heavily he asked "what is going on?". She looked at him with worried expression and yelled "Dear please run! don't worry about me and run!!". He finally managed to catch his breath " but I can't just leave you!" she yelled again" please run!" she didn't wanna them to get hurt, they were too important for her to lose them.

Shadow Rise used the moment to strike and shoot his dark magic right at Dark Chemicals and Diara. Heartfull Light realizing evil stallion attacks her family, she quickly, ran into shot range covering them with her body. Dark Chemicals eyes widened as in front of him was his wife, turned into black statue. Losing his mind, he left Diara on ground and charged at evil stallion full of anger, he won't forgive him, this stallion has to pay. To no avail, before he even reach him, he changed him into black statue too as well As diara was left alone, she walked to her mother's black statue and poked her "mommy..." she called out sadly as she looked down at the statue that was her mother "...mommy?" she whispered out again as she looked at her petrified mother. as she get no answer she ran over to the black statue that was her father, and she stared at it in silence, looking back and forth between her parents' motionless bodies laying on the floor, tears welling up in eyes, and after a moment she sat down on the ground in between her parents' petrified bodies. Bursting out in heavy tears as she realized what had just happened and that her parents were not going to react and were gone, defeated and turned to solid stone by the evil stallion just like he had done to the princess Shadow Rise looked at the scene full of satisfaction.....the crystal kingdom was finally his... all those years of planning, they had been worth all the effort!  His Horn glowed with darkness again as he prepared himself to silence the crying filly on the ground in front of him. the glow on his horn faded a bit as a thought crossed his mind 'hmm.....she is still small, i could raise her... if my son won't become as evil as me... then perhaps i could raise this little filly as my own... and she could fullifull the rest of my plan instead'

Meanwhile, young sombra was overjoyed hearing all the crying crystal ponies, 'the apple doesn't fall far from apple tree they say, maybe being evil isn't that bad...' he thought with a wide smile on his face.He paused in his track 'but....thats not right.. but still, it makes me so happy', he thought as he continued to walk back to his father once more. He was really close when he saw two black statues 'so beautiful....', he said .but then his happiness was gone as he saw a little filly which was crying with all her might. It reminded him of his mother's death. when she died, he felt sadness, pain and sorrow, and had felt himself slowly falling into the darkness like his father. Shadow Rise couldn't stand it when his only love and the only pony who understood him died, he always cried about her when no one was watching. Anger consumed him as his heart and soul has gotten corrupted over years, changing him into an evil and cruel tyrant. He wiped nearly his whole kingdom, blaming its citizens for the loss he suffered. only the most loyal ones were spared, and it was easy to tell who they were, for all the most loyal ponies were in the castle, most of them working for him, though amongst them were ponies who greatly feared him.

young sombra stared at the crying filly "father? why is she crying?" he asked as he turned to his father. In response his father said "I got rid of her parents, now make her stop and take her along, she will stay with us very long!" the young colt didn't like the idea, but he still listened to his father "As you wish father". When he returned his gaze to the little filly she was gone. he tried to find her with no positive results "father, she's not here" the young colt said, which made his father a bit mad. "what?! how could such a small filly just disappear all by herself?! stay here i will look for her!". Just before he departed to search for Diara, he caught a glimpse of a pony not far away which had Diara with her, and he ran after the mare angry. didnt this mare know any better? he could turn her into statue right away! but he doesn't wanna to shot Diara by accident, so he didnt. "How dare you interfere with my plans! Stop right there!" the stallion called out, but the mare ignored him and kept running as fast as her hoofs let her. He was getting closer, and the mare ran into a valley. sadly it seemed to have a wall at the end "oh no, a blind valley!" the mare tripped, dropping Diara unknowingly into a hidden passage. the mare gasped as she noticed she dropped the filly "i hope she is fine!" Soon after the stallion arrived, and before the mare had any chance to react the stallion had used his dark magic and turned her into a black statue like he had done with all the others before. Diara luckily didn't get hurt at all as she had fallen on somepony's back, making the unknown pony fall with her. the unknown pony looked at what had fallen on her, not expecting it to be  a little filly "awww you are so cute, where did you get from?". little Diara just looked at her, tears welling up in her little eyes again "mommy! daddy....." was all she said before she bursts in tears. the young mare got sad seeing Diara crying like that and tried to comfort her somehow "shhhh little one i know, i saw it all. your parents were really brave! My name is Brave Lily, do you know how to say your name, cute flower?" the little filly stopped crying even though she was still sad "d...dia.....la.di...a ra...." Brave Lily giggled "Diara? really cute name! now lets go, its still dangerous here!" she said, and she grabbed the little filly and ran off with her trough a hidden passage far away from the crystal kingdom

Above the hidden passage, a really angry Shadow Rise walked back and forth. he couldn't believe his son didn't manage to do such an easy task! he was supposed to take care of Diara not let her escape! "why do i always have to do everything alone!" he yelled as he waited for his army to appear.Young Sombra entered the crystal castle throne room "They are here father". "good now get out of my sight and find something useful to do!" the young colt understood his father was mad and it would be better to stay away from him for awhile, so he left the castle and wandered around thinking about what evil he could do. the evil stallion entered the room where his army stayed at, and all of them saluted to him " We arrived as fast as we could sir!" he looked at his guards " You probably wonder why i wanted you here.... I want all of you to find this little filly alive! do whatever you can to find her..... but if even one hair on her little head is harmed you will be punished!" he spoke to them, and he gave each of them a picture of the filly. they saluted him once again "Yes sir!" and they left in search of the little filly.
