My name is Discord, I am the god and embodiment of chaos and my hobby is being disharmonious. I was free to do what I wished, set in stone twice by the elements of harmony and then reformed by the very thing I wished to destroy so much: The element of kindness. Alas, all the history books say about me is that I caused harm to ponies and the princesses set me into stone, it never says exactly why I did it and it never explained why I seemed to be the only one of my species. I might as well tell you my story as I sit in my chambers, bored out of my everlasting mind. I shall conjure up some chocolate milk and cotton candy clouds for you, hopefully that isn't too chaotic for dear Celestia to handle, wouldn't want that, now would we?
Of course I could be wrong about some things since that time, considering how long it has been and the fact I don’t care much about history, but that is the price that must be payed...
Outside of the pony lands there was a small village full of my very species, we caused small acts of chaos but nothing too serious and the ponies enjoyed what little we actually did, or at least what little my family did. I was three a few years or so after the princesses came into power of the throne and Draconequus kids happen to be quite tall, but I was unusually tall for my age, so I was almost as tall as the adults. My mother was a lovely mixture of eagle, bear, and deer who was named Disarray, while my father was a mixture of pony, crocodile, and donkey, named Havoc.
You would think that having such lovely parents and neighbors around me everything would be all right but it was never meant to be sadly, because many accidents had befallen us after I and many other Draconequus were born. It seemed the influx of chaotic children born made us somehow very unlucky, but I never understood exactly why, considering how handsome I am and was.
It happened rather suddenly in the night and through the week after my fifth birthday, I guess I am unlucky. The ground in the village started shaking violently in an earthquake, and it was only in our village, the ponies homes seemed quite fine and it only happened during the night, getting worse and worse.
Everyone thought it might be someone in the village doing this, so they looked for who might be responsible and it seemed to trace back to all of the Draconequus kids, my mother was devastated because she thought I might be a rebel, at only the age of five. Honestly, like I had that power, if I had that power it would have not been something that threatened us, but a chocolate mountain that could keep us alive forever. Might I add that I did in fact do that at one point before my banishment to stone, possibly one of the reasons Celestia used the elements on me in the first place, not like anypony was using that house...
Ahem...anyway, the elders made a decree that since we as a species live forever, we were not allowed to bear children anymore and that the kids they did have were never to fall in love or have children in return. It was a rather unhappy childhood. That, unfortunately, didn't help the earthquakes, because after that week, it seemed quite calm for the rest of the month, which nobody was particularly fond off might I add.
The beginning of the next month though I was awoken well past midnight to the sound of screams that was coming many houses away. It just so happened my good friend, Delusion’s house was full of water, it seemed perhaps that someone had tried to make him and his family drown in his own house, but they woke up once they felt the water against their tails. We hat to get buckets and take the water out since the water wouldn't go out an open door or windows.
This as well happened for a week to every home, with us taking hours to clean the water out, including my own before it again became peaceful for the rest of the month. It seemed that everything that happened appeared in a different house every time it happened. We were starting to suspect our very own pony neighbors, especially since the princesses never seemed to interfere with what their subjects were doing and just lowered and raised the sun and moon.
Yes, your dear princesses did not in fact do anything but raise their celestial bodies into the air at their specific times and watch their subjects, they let the ponies do what they wished and left them be as long as they were harmonious.
Neither of those was fatal though, the earthquakes may have hurt and set us back and the water may have inconvenienced us, but the thing that killed my race was worse then anything we had imagined. We never used our magic to fix the problems before because it would just make it more chaotic and horrible, and that is exactly what happened when we tried to fix this last problem with our magic. In hindsight it was probably a horrible idea to use magic on something like this when we never used our magic to fix anything before, but no matter, on with the story!
I do not care if you are afraid, you decided to listen to what I have to say, so you will listen to the reason as to why I am the only one of my species. Get situated again on the chair and relax while you listen, drink the chocolate milk and eat the cotton candy.
Although we are able to live forever it does not mean we are unable to be hurt and killed. Anyone who believes that just because we are gods it means we cannot be killed is a fool, Celestia and Luna can be killed as well as I or you.
Now where was I before you tried bouncing off the chair in the middle of the story? Hmmm...oh yes, I was at the part where I ran like a coward while my family and friends died in the most horrible way possible, how could I forget...
It seemed like the worst was over and everything calmed down for months. Everyone calmed down and relaxed, feeling like nothing else would happen. We were too relaxed, too calm, too cocky, we should have been on our guard all along. All good things must come to an end, I suppose my good things had to end so horribly.
months after the water incident my family went on a one day trip to a lake to enjoy quality time with each other and perhaps fish. We got back to the village before nightfall and what greeted us wasn't what we expected. My friend Eris’ house was on fire and everyone was trying to put it out, but I didn't see Eris or her family. A friend of my parents filled us in they the fire had gone on for hours before anybody could do anything and Eris was trapped in the house.
I was too scared to fly down to help so I stayed in the sky and just looked at my old friends house as everyone else tried to put the fire out. Their magic only made it worse and it spread. I watched in fear as other Draconequus caught fire and fell from the air, feeding the inferno more. I watched as the fire spread from house to house, helped by my species chaotic magic and the bodies of the once alive members.
The image of the blazing hot orange fire seared into my mind as I watched my own parents fall to the fire themselves, I was too much of a coward to even try and help. I couldn't take it anymore, and I knew that the chaos was making it worse. I ran, I ran from the fire, I ran from my species, and I ran from my parents bodies. I flew as far as my wings could take me and hid in a cave by a pony village.
I watched the ponies as I hid in the cave. I saw how happy they were while I had nothing. I resented the ponies for being happy while I was alone and afraid! I started to blame the ponies for my parents demise, for my whole species demise. They had not tried to help with the fire or look to see if we were alright. As far as I was concerned they might as well have caused the fire that killed everyone I knew and loved.
I did what I thought was justice. I change their mane colors for fun, I messed with them by making them trip over nothing, I made them go against each other and I hurt them, but I never went as far as killing them. I could have killed any of them, but I knew the feeling of death, and I wouldn't do the same thing they did to me.
It is true that I made myself the king, or whatever it is that the history book says, but I was simply playing a game with the ponies. They did not know anything about my age or who I was, Celestia had no right to turn me to stone with Luna, but they did anyway, and they did not know the reason for what I did. Of course the two ponies who only cares about their precious subjects if they felt a disturbance in harmony would set me in stone the moment they encountered me as I was singing a song and didn't notice them. They were afraid I would fight them or something.
I spent eons in stone and you of course no the rest, as well as everypony else. The story is over, and I am done. Good bye my little friend.
Angel watched as Discord flew away while he ate the rest of the cotton candy cloud and swallowed, he didn't understand why Discord told his life story to him but it might be because he wasn't able to talk, it seemed, to others. Angel smiled before looking once again at Discord’s fleeting form, “Jackass.” He said before hopping back into the house.
