Legend of the Miracle Pool
Beep! Beep! Beep!
"Alright! Alright! Damn!" I groaned as I reach over to silence, well throw, my alarm clock to stop the annoying sound. In one swift motion I pull the plug out of the wall and throw the clock on the floor. Obviously I tried to go back to sleep, I hate having to get up at such an early time. Ring! Ring! Ring! "Who the hell is calling me!" I swung my hand at the dresser to grab my phone, but only succeeding in knocking off the opposite side.Well....Fuck. I got up off the bed to grab my phone, then I answered it,
"Ryan! Hey get up, me,you, and Thomas are going to look for that pool thing, remember?!" Derek said a little frustrated. Woah I completely forgot about that, no wonder my alarm went off, I thought to myself for brief moment before answering
"Y-yeah sure i'll be out in 10 minutes.". I got up, took a shower,packed up,got dressed, and ate. Most of my morning meals were just an apple and maybe toast, but I can't complain because apples are the best edible things on Earth.
I walked outside to see Derek and Thomas already waiting for me. As usual I was wearing my favorite sweater for when we go out like this, but this was much different than other times that we'd just hang out somewhere. This time we were actually
going into the woods and shit, I've played and seen enough stuff to know that it could possibly go bad in an instant but it didn't bother me much. "So, you guys ready?" I asked.
"Well we were the ones waiting on you." Thomas replied.Damnit Thomas, you always have to be a smart ass.
"Lets get going already!" Derek said impatiently.
Getting to the forest was not hard, I mean it literally RIGHT THERE. Heading in we heard nothing but birds and bushes rumbling, usual forest sounds. "Were the brambles are thickest." I hear Derek say to himself,
"What are you saying?" I ask with curiosity.
"Well my Uncles kind of "Path" to the pool" he said with a "obviously" kind of tone. "There you will find,upon beyond the most twisted of vines, WOAH LOOK!" He exclaimed clearly startled.
"Holy shit, is that it" Thomas said.
Could this pool really exist? I mean a pool of water can't change your life....right? I thought to myself,I wonder what it could do for us.
"This is fucking crazy, lets just go back" I couldn't really think of anything else to say and it WAS a deep ass hole.
"Someones a little scared" Derek chuckled,
"NO! its just it's a really deep hole!" I protested, but to be honest I was scared.
"Why the fuck did you think I brought rope, dingus." Derek claimed pulling out a rope from his green backpack. I grabbed the heaviest and largest rock I could find to tie the rope to, I pushed it into the ground a bit so it wouldn't slide from the weight.
"Alright Thomas, climb down." I said trying to keep myself from going first.
"What! Why me first!" He argued,
"Because if something happened to you no one would give a shit" Derek joked.
"Assholes" Thomas grumbled while getting himself positioned on the rope to slowly slide down. It only took a brief 7 seconds for him to hit the ground and call us "Hey! Come down its safe!". Me and Derek climbed down into the hole, at the bottom was a little cobblestone path. "Lets follow the path" Thomas suggested,
"No shit sherlock" I said sarcastically.Upon reaching the end of the path, we were facing the pool already, all of our jaws dropped. "WOAH IT'S REAL!!" I exclaimed, I quickly ran to the edge of the pool and changed to my swimming trunks, I tested the water with my toe. "It's pretty warm." I stated "Hey!Guys lets go! Earth to guys! Im speaking to you!"They are soooo dramatic.
"WOOHOO!!" Derek yelled as he jumped into the pool, followed by Thomas. It was about 7 feet deep and very warm.Wait...it wasn't that warm before....its getting hotter!
"Guys!! Get the fuck OUT!!!" I screamed trying to swim to land. "GUYS!! Where are y-" I was instantly pulled deeper into the now steaming pool of water, a white light was showing up at the bottom.Is THIS what the people mean by "life changing"... that you die!?I thought to myself as I my lungs were exploding due to lack of air I guess this is it. I suddenly felt myself being dragged up and also a intense pain in my chest, I blacked out...
I woke up to the sound of... well nothing at the time, but I woke up to something, pain. "Arrgh" I grabbed my chest in hopes that it would relieve some pain, no luck. I looked around to see that we were still in the cave with the pool THE POOL!!! What did it do to me?!! I thought on the verge of panic, I felt my body and to my relief nothing terrible had happened. I looked over and saw Thomas and Derek on the other side of the pool, "Guys, hey wake up" I shouted, it was a large cave so I had to raise my voice a bit.
"Wha-" Thomas mumbled, rolling on his side to look at me.
"I said get up"
"OK fine, dude I could've sworn I was drowning a second ago, wait.... DID THE POOL DO SOMETHING TO US!!" He panicked, waking up Derek who was just as curious as we were.
"We all look fine" I said with a bit of disappointment,you would think that we would have super powers or something I thought.
"Meh, lets just get out of here before anything else fucked up can happen to us" Derek suggested. WE packed up our things and followed the same...Dirt path? Wasn't it a cobbles-, My thoughts were cut off as I saw something horrifying,
"THE ROPE IS GONE??!!"We all exclaimed, running towards the hole.
"How in the blue hell are we going to escape now!" Thomas ranted,
"We could try to lift each other up" Derek said, already putting his hands together to replicate a place to set your foot.
"Ok, i guess" Thomas said, Derek lifted Thomas up as high as possible, but it still wasn't enough. "Damn I have to jump the rest of it" Thomas stated,
"Don't fall and die" Derek joked,
"Wow, words of encouragement by Derek!" Thomas said sarcastically, He balanced himself and jumped as high as he could, grabbing on the ledge above us.
"Hell yeah!! Go Thomas!" I chanted,
"When you get up, try and grab a long vine so I don't have to lift this fat ass" Derek yelled,
I gave Derek a quick "seriously" look. Thomas ran to look for a long enough vine for us to climb. Did someone take our rope? Or something.I thought to myself while Thomas threw a long, thick vine down, I climbed up first, then Thomas helped me up the ledge. Once all 3 of us were at the surface, there was alot of stuff different from yesterday Where did the rock go? Why did it just get so cold? Everything is much more...creepier. I thought to myself, something here was NOT right. All silence broke until we heard something terrifying, It was deep and rabid, it sent chills down my spine and I winced when I heard a twig snap. It was getting louder and more terrifying Is that? No way
Growling
"AAAAAAAHHHHHHHH" We all exclaimed.
"Run GUYS RUN!!" I yelled, beginning to dart towards the opposite direction of the growling. I turned around for a second to take a quick peek at the predator. It was wooden, and it had sap and leaves hanging and pouring out from the cracks of the wood. I saw 2 more emerge from the never ending darkness of the forest, Oh shit... I thought.
"What are those!!! Thomas yelped, clearly in complete panic. We were all at a full on sprint at this point, and those....things were right on our asses.
"I REALLY don't....know!!!" Derek said, panting and running as fast as possible.
"AAHHH, g-guys!" Thomas exclaimed, one of the wolves leaped into the air and tackled Thomas and bit him on the shoulder. Clear streaks of crimson dripping down his arm and shoulder blade.
"Get the fuck off of him!!!" Derek yelled, making a battle cry and kicking the creature in the face, "Oh shit..." Derek sighed , the wolf glared daggers at him and charged with the other two following it. I took this chance to quickly take Thomas to safety, I picked him up and moved him to where we wasn't in too much danger.
"Thomas, listen to me, we're gonna try to get through this, just wait here, got it?" I said, checking his shoulder and caring for it.
"Ahhh, shucks, you do care, it doesn't hurt that bad though" Thomas stated, instantly taking his words back when he REALLY felt the pain.
"Just wait he-" I was cut off, by Derek.
"A little help!! I'm distracting all 3 of them!!" He yelled. I ran over with a large rock, I knew this would work, I mean they were made out of wood. I caught up to the slowest wolf and kicked it down, then I slammed the rock as hard as I could onto its head.It let out a cry and went limp on the cold, damp ground. Is it dead? Hehe, must be I thought to myself as It lay there.
I ran over to Derek, who was currently cornered, and raised my fists.
"You are stupid, how did you manage to get yourself cornered" I said, getting ready for the pounce of the two creatures.
"Well, it all started when I was buying you two some time to get to safety" He said sarcastically. The first wolf pounced at me, then came the second which jumped at Derek. I held out my arm, I didn't want it to bite me anywhere else, and there was no place to run. Gladly I used my left arm, I would need my right arm for my next move. Woah, this fucking hurts, gotta get that branch!I leaned down with the wolf still digging its splintery teeth into my arm, once I had a firm grip on the branch, I hit it in it side to get it off of me. I dealt some moderate damage, it WAS a thick branch. I looked over to my left and saw that Derek as pinning his attacker down and looking for a weapon to use.
"Hey Derek! Heads up!!" I said, tossing the branch to him. He caught it and began to bash it into the wolfs head. I was caught off guard when my attacker bit me in the ankle, I was brought to the ground when it pulled on my shirt and It dug it's claws into my sides.
"Ryan!! here I come!!" Derek said, holding the branch as anyone would if they were going to stab something on the ground. He quickly brought the branch down and I went straight through the abomination.
"Wow, thanks" I said.
"Ey, what are friends for?" Derek replied. We both walked over to Thomas and saw that he was ok, I was limping a bit, but I shook it off, I wasn't going to be a pussy like Thomas.
"Lets get out of here, before more of those.... things come" Thomas suggested. The next 30 minutes we spent walking to what we thought was the way out. We came to a stop when we found a hut, it was decorated with masks and vines, and from what I could see through the window, there were potions and soups inside.
"Oh dear, look at what we have here" A calm voice spoke up.

"What the?" Thomas said. The three of of us stared at the amazing and totally weird sight before us. A small zebra about as tall as up to my waist, it even had earrings and bracelets on its hooves.
"Am I going crazy, or is there a zebra, right there" I said.
"I see it, you see it and Thomas sees it, we're sane." Derek added, "Who said that then, it couldn't have been that zebra"
"There must be a person around here!" I exclaimed.
"I asure you I can speak, but your friends look very beat" The zebra said. All of us were in shock, okay there is no way that thing just spoke to us. I thought as I looked over to see if any of my friends were even conscious."I can offer you some help, there are many potions on my shelf", There it goes again!!
"Um... do you mind, uh helping us?" I was nervous, I was thinking it was all an illusion and I was talking to nothing. It gestured to the door, and I walked inside. Derek and Thomas were whispering things, I couldn't quite make out what but I didn't care. I was focused on the many books, potions, herbs, and all of that other witchcraft shit. How can a zebra even make all of this, wait wait wait, more like how can a zebra even talk! The thought never escaped my mind as I followed the small zebra.
"Hey Ryan come here" Thomas whispered. "What the hell are we doing here?! WE can't trust that thing!"
"WE also can't find anything else that will help us" I said, making sure the zebra wasn't listening to this conversation.
"Here we are, a potion to heal you from your spar" The zebra spoke up, and handed me a bottle with a red juice in it. I eyed it and studied it, I didn't even know how this would work, healing potions can't be made on Earth.
"Are you going to drink that!" Derek yelled, and covered his mouth to quickly silence himself.
"Yes, of course, and so is Thomas" I said calmly.
"No way I'm drinking that shit, it looks like blood!" Thomas protested.
"Fine, suit yourself" I slowly opened the cap, and then I looked at the zebra and asked " Is this safe, um, what was your name?" I don't know why I was suddenly curious for this information, but at least it answered.
"My name is Zecora, and this is my place, I asure you that potion is safe" Zecora said.
"Oh, ok, um thanks" I replied, she nodded and went back to whatever she was doing. "Bottoms up" I drank a gulp of the sweet red elixir, and it had the WORST aftertaste ever.Don't puke don't puke don't puke! I thought to myself.
"How does it taste!" Derek asked, his eyes wide with curiosity.
"Bleh, um, aftertaste is pretty bad, but its good overall" I replied, handing the bottle over to Thomas.
"Fine, if it will help with this pain" Thomas grumbled. He took the bottle and drank the rest of it. I couldn't help but see him smile and he loved it! "Mmmmmm, this stuff is awe-" He was suddenly given the true taste of pure disgust. "Eeeewww, that sucks!" He whined.
"Told you but at least my wounds will get...... healed?" My voice trailed off as I noticed that my bite on my ankle was gone, and my sides didn't hurt like hell. I lifted my shirt and saw that the gashes were fading away, like magic. Thats fucking unbelievable!!! I thought to myself.
"Dude it worked!!" Thomas exclaimed, nearly leaping into the air and throwing his hands in the air. His shoulder was no longer bleeding and it was totally looking like it wasn't mangled by a wolf....creature....thing. We started to think of plans of where to go, because obviously we weren't in Kansas anymore.
"Should we just leave?" Derek asked, unsure of what to do this.
"Not before we thank.... Um, Zecora!" I said, turning around and walking up to Zecora, waving my hands at Thomas and Derek, gesturing them to come with me."Thank you for the hospitality Zecora! My name is Ryan, his is Derek, and that's Thomas" I said, Thomas and Derek smiled and waved. Smile and wave boys, smile and wave.
"It is a pleasure to meet you all, might I ask who were you fighting during your brawl?" Zecora asked, all three of u were speechless. None of us knew exactly what those things were.
"Um, T-timber..... wolves?" I said in a way that would be thought of as a question, I didn't know if I was right anyway. My friends looked at me in curiosity.
"Timberwolves?" Derek whispered.
"If you are leaving, stay I guard you might, timberwolves tend to attack twice" Zecora said, walking towards the dorr and waiting for us to follow. That is sooo annoying! I thought, I never liked the way she spoke.
"Thanks for the tip" Thomas said walking out the door, waving goodbye and stopping a few feet outside.
"Thank you again Zecora!" Derek said as three of us headed the same way. She nodded her head and shut her door. The three of us decided to go.... a way.
"Where the hell are we going!?" Thomas asked, Derek and I shrugged and just kept walking. None of us knew where to go, so we just walked and walked and walked. We came across a large dirt road with a bunch of holes and mounds of dired piled everywhere.
"What are these doing here?!" I said, getting a better look at one of the holes. The three of us were looking in different holes. The hole I was looking in had two yellow eyes shining in the darkness,Wait, WHAT!
"GUYS MORE OF THOSE WOLF SHITBAGS!" I screamed, running over to my friends and pointing towards the hole.
"Alright, lets fuck them up then!" Derek replied, It was a good idea, I mean we did it once, we could do it twice. Suddenly a large dog jumped out of the hole and barked at us.
"Ok, what the fuck" Thomas said, clearly unimpressed, "First wooden wolves and now overgrown mutts!?"
"Well, i've seen worse" Derek replied, The dog was slowly crawling towards us, a little TO slow. I decided to run up to it and kick it in the nose, making it cry and call out for its buddies.
"Nice going Ryan" Thomas remarked, realizing that 3 other dogs , one Tall and grey, one short and light brown, and the other in front, a darkish brown/grey color to it.
"Hey! You savages will pay for assaulting my hounds!" The ugly one said, well, they were ALL ugly but whatever.
"IM FUCKING DONE WITH THIS STUPID TALKING ANIMAL SHIT" Thomas yelled, getting pissed at all of the unbelievable things that have been happening to us. "Lets get out of here before I have to kill ugly mutts!" He yelled, grabbing me and Derek by the collars of our shirts.
"Woah calm down Thoams" I tried, he didn't even listen, he just kept walking the other way and huffing loudly.
"Not so fast! You WILL pay!" The dog yelled again. Charging at us with it buddies right next to him.
"Lets go assholes!" Thomas turned around just quick enough to punch the large one in the gut. He was grabbed by the arms when two other dogs came up from the hole. Me and Derek sprung into action and tried to get them off of him. They were much bigger up close, and all accept the short one was towering over us.
"Rawr!" I roared, pushing the dog away, I couldn't knock them to the ground they were just to big.
"Gah! This isn't working,they are to big!" Thomas grunted, fighting hoards of hounds off. They eventually out numbered and outmatched us, we were in their territory! Oh NO! Where will they take us! I thought, while being dog piled and dragged down one of the hundreds of holes.
"I'll see you guys down-" Derek's voice trailed off as we were all dragged into different holes. This sucked and it hurt! My face was just being dragged across cold hard dirt and rocks. I was eventually in a cave or underground mines. They put me, Thomas, and Derek in the same cells. Pretty stupid of them... I thought.
"So, guys, how ya doing?" Thomas asked sarcastically, sighing and then banging his head on the dirt wall behind him.
"Just shut up, Thomas, there is no time for fun and games!" Derek yelled, causing a small echo.
"Derek's right, we have bigger problems, in case you haven't noticed, we are pretty much hostages." I said, stopping to think of multiple scenarios that could lead to our escape, but they all had a terrible outcome... We. Were. Fucked.
