Basics around the barrack, filling up the dictionary again! "Huh? Captain Armor?" Flash replied as Shining Armor entered the resting quarters. "There you are! What's wrong Flash? You look awful..." Shining Armor said with concern "Nothing wrong Captain, just a bad dream. Some creature that has different animal parts put together was chasing after me." Flash said. "Hmm... That sure sounds weird and funny." Shining said "But sir! It was horrifying" "Oh really? Sorry about that." Shining chuckled and continued "what if it was actually a dream about the future? Ha! I jest, I jest. But back to the matter at hand, I've got a mission for you complete, its not a serious mission but you'll have to get a briefing downstairs in the main hall." And he left the quarters. Flash jumped out of his bed, stretched a bit, put on his armor and saddlebag and trotted downstairs. As he walked down to the main floor, he saw a couple of soldiers walking by doing heavy work such as lifting supplies to different places, painting the interior and building suspensions and extra rooms. What he didn't notice was a piece of paper on the floor and as Flash stepped on it, he went sliding across the hall much to Shining Armor's shock and bumped onto a unicorn who was in charge of intelligence and was also a lazy pony and always found sleeping. Flash tripped over him and landed head first into a bucket hanging helplessly. Shining looked really embarrassed at that point. "Alley-Oop!" Flash murmured with the bucket still on his head and did a forward flip landing on his hooves, shook the bucket off his head and shook himself dry, what he didn't notice that something else fell out of Flash Sentry's saddlebags, a book lying on the wet surface and soaked. Shining Armor immediately recognised what that was and immediately galloped to it. "Oh no! The Royal Canterlot Soldier's code of actions is soaking wet!" He cried in horror. Shining opened the book, the 86 actions (AKA Pony-Chat) and the instructions to perform them have disappeared and only 10 remain. "*Sigh* most of your actions are gone! Bummer, and it was nearly complete!" Shining said in disappointment. "Well, anything bad can happen so you've got to learn from your mistakes and fill up the code again!" "Sorry sir, I'll be careful next time" Flash hung his head down as he replied "So what is the mission for me?" "Ah! I need you to find a very important target: Princess Twilight Sparkle, my sister. You should know her." "Her? Yes sir... How could I not forget her?" Flash said after going through memories on how Twilight occasionally bumps into him on purpose and seeing her blush and smile every time their eyes meet. "Very well, but first, you have to go through basic training. I know you've been through it many times and that you have kept up to date with it, but as Captain of the Royal Guard, I want to maintain the safety of all my men and know that they can defend themselves and flawlessly perform their duties as a soldier. Besides, your code of actions was wiped out, you may forget the basic important actions! Follow me into the training hall" Shining Armor ordered and led Flash to a door that has a carpet with a song note on it. The training hall was brightly lit up stadium with a lifted stage in the middle, 'probably used for practice fights' Flash wondered on how this hall works. Shining Armor stopped in front of the stage and Flash stopped next to it. "First, we start off with the most important action when encountering somepony, a greeting. Try it out, greet me." Shining said "Captain Armor Sir!" Flash yelled, he stood straight and saluted him with his hoof. "No no no, there's no need to salute me as a captain for this training, just picture me being a civilian." Shining chuckled. "Sorry sir... Greetings good sir!" Flash corrected himself "Not bad, you don't have to be formal, just be casual and say 'Hi' or "Good Morning, Afternoon or Evening'. Now for the next action" Shining said and walked up to two planted pots. Shining stood in front of one and Flash stood in front of the other. "Kick!" Shining kicked the the pot and 10 bits fell out of the plant, "now do that!" Flash kicked the pot and 10 bits fell out as well. "Nice kick!" Shining complimented inspecting Flash's strong and stabilised kick. "You may find some surprises when you kick here, there or anywhere suspicious! But don't even think of kicking other ponies." Shining warned him. "Next, Inspect using your senses such as your eyes and nose" Shining looked and sniffed at the bits then picked it up with his mouth and put it in his saddlebags. Flash does the same thing and picked up the 10 bits. "That's right, look and smell them to make sure they are safe, then pick it up. Now here is the last action!" Shining ordered and dragged Flash to two bunched up patches of dirt. "When there are weird spots on the ground like this, Dig on this spot with your hooves" Shining dug at one mound with his hooves and unearthed 10 bits. After he put it in his saddlebags, it was Flash's turn. Flash dug at the mound with his hooves and the dirt revealed a test tube like item. "That item is called a Love Meter and it was created by my wife but, I have no idea what to do with it. Anyway, that's it for the basic moves for a solider or pretty much everypony. Any questions?" Shining asked. "Just one, who would put bits in a plant pot or under some dirt?" Flash asked with a puzzled look on his face "...No idea, I actually asked Princess Celestia about this but she would change the subject, I mean, there were 5 bits just lying on the floor in some area I patrolled once. You'll probably find bits lying on the ground too. One more thing, this training hall... will not be a training hall any longer, it will become a concert hall when the construction of the barracks makes progress." Shining answered "Ah, so that explains the the carpet with the song note." Said Flash Back in the main hall, Shining Armor concluded his Period of Instruction with Flash Sentry: "These Four actions are the key to getting what you want! There are many more actions but I'm only teaching you the basics. You'll have to learn other actions from other civilians or fellow soldiers. This barrack can only be accessed by a teleporter." Shining pointed to a lone circle that is radiating a lot of white aura and continued. "The teleporter can take you anywhere where other teleporters are. Twilight is in the Rainbow Highlands, so you can only access that area and nowhere else. Only the Royal Canterlot Forces including the Princesses can use these teleporters but soldiers are allowed to bring civilians to the teleporter with them. Not that you have to. Your front guard horseshoes activate any teleporter around Equestria, you just have to dig your hooves on the portal and the portal will activate. Bring your "Sentry Spear" along, your spear is special as it is the only spear imbued with Lightning Magic, you'll needed for one of the actions. Your ranged weapon hasn't been constructed yet but you won't need it for now. I have to see to the construction of the barracks so I have to stay put. Plus, you need to learn your actions again! Good luck soldier." "Yes Sir!" Flash said and strode to the teleporter. As the teleporter was doing its work transmitting Flash Sentry to Rainbow Plains, Flash pulled out the code and started looking at the other 6 actions that were not wiped out. "Hmm... Look, Climb, Poke, Yes and No and Scratch? I wonder how I can do that?" Flash chuckled as the aura around him intensifies and with a flash of the teleporter, Flash disappeared, heading for Rainbow Plains. Author's Note The "Ham-Chat" will only be the definition. I have also changed some of the definitions as well such as Tack-Q (Tackle) becoming kick and Hif-Hif (sniff) becoming inspect. Great to be out of the Tutorial and stay tuned for Flash's mission to find Twilight in the Rainbow plains! //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: Saving the Princess of Magic //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: Saving the Princess of Magic Saving the Princess of Magic In Rainbow Plains, a teleporter next to a big tree started to intensify the aura radiating from it. Flash Sentry appeared on the teleporter and stepped out of the circle. He looked around and saw a path leading to a river. "Hmm, It be easier to find the Princess in the air, there also seems to be something wrong in this area" he thought and prepared his wings to fly. However, as soon as he started hovering, he immediately fell back to ground. "What? I can't fly! What's happening?" Flash said to himself in horror. "There must be some way to scout the hills up ahead. But how?" Flash looked around to find a high spot and his eyes rested on the huge tree. "Ah! This should work, now, how to get up there...Of course! One of the actions!" Flash trotted in front of the tree and sharp studs mechanically appear on Flash's Horseshoes and Flash started climbing the tree. As he reached the top, he looked at the view of the area in front. He saw a river, a mini piece of land in the middle with a log and a magical rod used as a bridge to cross the river. He saw a path heading up to a big mountain covered with Sunflowers. At the bottom of his eye, he saw a purple speck walking on the path away from the hill. That purple speck was enough for Flash Sentry to know who that is. "Princess Twilight!" Flash concluded when he finished analysing the Purple Princess. He climbed back down the tree and also thought "Hmm, maybe I should shine these horseshoes and fix my hair. I need to look good in front of the princess!" So he scratched his hooves, front then back against the large tree and it gave a very good gleam and shine. Flash then made his way on the path to the river. Flash got to the bank of the river and saw Twilight trotting down the path to him and then turning to her left on another path. A split minute later, a loud noise and a crash happened which shook the ground. "Eeeek!!!!" Twilight cried and all was silent. Flash heard the entire thing as was worried like never before. "Princess Twilight!" He cried and crossed the large rod and log and ran to the right, the same path Twilight took. As he approached further, he saw a giant rock in the way. "Oh Celestia... Please don't tell me she's under the rock!" As he approached the rock, he heard a faint amount of crying on the other side. "Thank goodness! The Princess is safe! But by the looks of it, I need to get to her right away! He crossed the dual bridge back to the other side and stopped to inspect and pick up 5 bits lying on the ground. "Captain was right! There are random bits lying on the ground". He went to a different path from the path to the teleporter. On the other side of the river, he manages to see Twilight crying... Flash assessed the situation, Twilight was crying because she was trapped between two large boulders, with no escape. "That's not good. I've got to rescue her!" Flash said determined "Excuse me, you look like a soldier." Flash turned to the source of the voice and saw a peach coloured unicorn looking at him just a few meters away. "Oh um, good morning!" Flash greeted "Well, good morning to you too! What's your name and what are you doing? I'm interested to know what a soldier does because I would like to join the Royal Canterlot army!" The pony said with interest. "Very well then, my name is Flash Sentry. I'm a high-ranking officer and the Captain's right hand man! Right now, I've been given a mission to find Princess Twilight, she's the fourth princess of Equestria." "Really? Wow! Its so lucky of you interact with the princesses! Did you find her?" "Yes, she's on the other side of the river, trapped between two boulders." Flash Sentry sadly concluded. "Oh dear, that's not good, I'd easily help her with my magic but for some reason, my magic's not working." The pony said "Funny, my wings aren't working either. Something's wrong with this atmosphere." Flash agreed. "Now, I'm not a soldier like you but I think I can help. Do you see that miniature pier near where the Princess is? You can dock there and rescue the princess if you have a boat. Last time I saw a boat, I think it was on the other side of the mountain near the waterfall. To get to the boat, you need to scale the mountain." The pony informed "Thanks for the information! You know, you would really work out as a soldier. In that case, stay safe" Flash said and started galloping back to the crossroads between the dual bridge and the path to the teleporter. He got the other side of the river and then started to hear some rustling bushes, Flash immediately halted at the sound. "What was that?" he thought and looked at the rustling bushes. "I wonder what's in there? Better know from afar." He grabbed his Sentry Spear and poked the bush twice. A random pony jumped out of the bush with an "Ahh!". The pony was in the bushes to relieve himself and Flash's poking seemed to have disrupted his concentration and it made quite a mess on the pony. The pony blushed very hard in shock, stood up on his two hooves, covered his eyes using his ears and shook left and right 6 times then proceeded to run off saying "Hyaah! I'm so embarrassed!" "Well that was awkward." Flash concluded. Suddenly a blue light was coming out of Flash's saddlebag. "Wha?" He stammered as the Code of Actions levitated out of his bag surrounded by a blue sphere of aura, flew to Flashes face, the book opened up causing the aura to disappear. On an empty box, a miniature star covered in magic flew on to the empty box in the code and filled the box with the word "Embarrass". The picture at the bottom of the four boxes illuminated and the two ponies on the picture showed the action. After a few seconds, the code closed and the same blue aura appeared enveloping the code and flew back into Flash's bag. After that, the action was immediately recorded in Flash's memory. "I see, so that was a new action that I haven't seen, the code of actions must have some strong magic to implant the action in my mind" Flash thought and started to scale up the mountain. Midway up the mountain covered with sunflowers, he sees two earth ponies, one pink and one blue, down on their luck. "Buenos Dias! How can I help you?" Flash greeted using Spaneighsh. "Huh? Oh, Hi! We... we don't have time to be trading greetings with one another!" Both ponies spoke at once "You see, were are trying to find a way to get all the apples at once from that tree" the blue one said pointing to a nearby apple tree and continued "There's got to be a way!" "Exactly, kicking the tree over and over is really degrading you know? We'd like to get the apples using a more sophisticated way!" The pink one concluded, both sighed and started thinking on what to do. "Well, I'll find something that can help you but in the meantime, take care." Flash said and after kicking the tree and inspecting 5 bits that fell out, Flash picked them up and continued all the way to the top of the mountain. At the top of the mountain, he saw a young purple dragon holding a gemstone crying. As Flash approached, he recognised the dragon to be Spike, Twilight Sparkle's library assistant. "Spike! What's wrong?" Flash greeted with concern. "Oh, nooooooooo!! Listen to my story will you Flash? My..my... Rarity! She's really, really mad! We were talking away when she just got very angry and stormed off! I...I don't really know what's going on. Ohhh!!!! I'm so sad! Waaah! Waaah!" Spike said after he calmed down, after finishing his story and when at the point on when he said sad, tears welled up in his eyes and he started crying again. The code of actions flew out of the bag again and opened, Flash recorded the sad action and learned it in the process. As the code flew back into the bag, Flash decided to climb up on the stump next to Spike. "Heeeyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" A voice rang out. Flash went confused, "I thought I heard a pony's voice far, far away..." he said. "Heyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!" The voice rang out again. Flash caught the sound this time and started to look around. "Heyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!! I'm... over... here!" Flash immediately turned around and found the source of the voice, a pony located on a far away mountain. "Heeeeeeeeeeyy!!!! Thanks... for... noticing! I'm the one... who was... calling out to you!" The code popped up again and Flash recorded the action to call out. As the code flew back into the bag, the yelling pony continued "How's your mountain? This...one's... great! What...a...view!" Flash smiled in agreement "See yaaaaaaaaaaa!" The yelling pony yelled. Flash stepped of the stump and continued through the mountain leaving Spike behind. After poking a few bushes that had frogs in them and passing a mannequin of a horse that is wearing a rather dapper shirt pointing to a door, he decided to kick a big tree which caused and apple to fall. Flash inspected it, picked it up and continued. However, his hooves came to rest upon a handkerchief. "Hey! STOPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!" A pony voice yelled. Flash immediately looked around to see what that voice was and did not notice a pony charging towards him very angrily. "You! Do you have any idea what you are doing?" The pony said "Umm... No?" Flash answered, really unsure of why the pony was angry "Arrgh! The handkerchief? Hand-ker-chief! The one you happen to ride on" the pony stood on its hind legs, pointed its front legs into the air, crouched with his arms facing the opposite direction of where he was looking, jumped into the air and did three quick somersaults before landing on all fours and continued "right now! IT'S MINE!!!" Flash thought this was a good time to record the action since the book appeared. "Um, Hello? How long are you going to stand there?!?" The pony continued and yanked the handkerchief underneath Flash nearly tripping him up. "You inconsiderate lout! What kind of a soldier are you? How rude!!! Sheesh!" The yelled and trotted off angrily. "Well I'm sorry, I actually didn't know..." Flash apologised even though the pony didn't hear him. As he trotted along the mountain, he came across a dirt patch. Flash dug there and unearthed 5 bits. He came across a yellow pony with a cowboy hat on, rummaging through some bushes. Flash greeted him. "Hm? Could ya please keep it down. Ah'm busy gathering apples you know?" The pony said and continued on finding apples. Flash always liked to help so he decided to inspect for apples. That caught the pony's attention. "Excuse me? You are also looking for apples too? Well, you see, I actually find these apples around Rainbow Plains because its very important for my family business. If you have any apples on you, I would love to trade them for bits." Then he eyed an apple in Flash's bag. "You've got one! Well ah'll be! Would ya be willing to trade me that fer 20 bits?" The pony asked with joy in his eyes. "Well yes! Why not?" Flash agreed and took the apple out of his bag and gave it to the pony, the pony accepted it and returned 20 bits to Flash's hoof. "Thank ya very kindly for the apple! Mah name's Braeburn by the way. I like apples and hot springs, is there anything else? Nah, I fergot. The apples here are very scrumptious. I'd love to trade em' if ya find some more." "I'll sure do! See you later Braeburn!" Flash said as he left, waving bye to Braeburn. Flash arrived at the top of the waterfall, marking that climbing down this cliff means he'll reach the base on the other side of the mountain. He noticed a young pegasus filly located there waiting for something. "Hello young filly. How may I help you?" Flash greeted, the filly turned around excited. "Arnie! Is that you? I'm so glad your home! I've been waiting for sooooo long!" The filly said mistaking Flash for Arnie and realising a few seconds later. "Hey! You're not Arnie! Who are you? I'm sitting here waiting for Arnie to come home. I don't want to talk to you!" The filly cried and turned her head away and kept on waiting. "Why is everyone being so rude today?" Flash said to himself and approached a large red feather and looked up the sky to see where it came from. A cry of a Phoenix was heard and a shadow swooped over Flash and the waterfall. "What a majestic Phoenix" Flash concluded admiring the bird. Flash saw a few vines leading to the base of the mountain and climbed down. Flash arrived on a medium sized platform sticking out of the cliff near the midpoint of the waterfall. Flash found a white aura-radiating teleporter that looks exactly like the one near the giant tree at the base of the mountain where Flash used to enter Rainbow Plains, and a smaller platform sticking out of the cliff higher than the platform Flash was on that appears to have a White pony with a very stylish looking mane. As Flash inspected 3 diamonds as the pony's cutie mark, Flash knew the pony as Rarity, one of Twilight's friends. Flash continued climbing down another vine leading to the bottom of the mountain. Sure enough, like the peach unicorn said, there was a boat. However, there was a rope tied on to the boat, and Flash didn't know how to break it. "It must be one of the actions that I forgot, oh why did I get my code wet?" Flash wailed. Flash walked on the only path and saw a pegasus. "Hello." Flash greeted "Oh yeah... Hi. I'm kinda busy." The pony replied and continued looking around. "Everyone is being busy, what is going on?" Flash said and continued talking the the pony "well so am I, I'm looking for something." "Yeah that's right. My little sister had lost something, it was this object that looks like a swan." The pony described "Actually, what I meant to say was that I was looking for somepony. Have you seen someone by the name of Twilight Sparkle? She's purple in colour with a dark purple coloured mane with pink streaks." Flash said hiding Twilight's true identity. "Really? Well you know, I think I heard a girl calling out from behind that boulder. It should be her but, that is a really big boulder. You could bite it forever and get nowhere!" "Oh well, I'm positive that there is another way around the boulder but thanks for the help!" Flash thanked while he recorded the bite action in the code. Flash jumped back into the boat and bit the rope setting the boat free. Horror then spread across Flash Sentry's face realising as the boat was free, the current started moving the boat on its own! Flash sailed away through the river and passing Twilight Sparkle on the way. Twilight managed to se Flash on the boat but she gasped in shock as he passed her. Tears came back into her eyes and she started crying again. The boat hit the rocks and floated to a mini pier where the same peach unicorn was. Flash tried to make the boat go but it won't budge. Flash rushed out of the boat in anger, crossed the bridge to where the boulder was blocking Twilight and started biting it as hard as he can but to no avail. So he rushed back up to the mid-point of the mountain and decided to call out to the skies with an "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!" In anger of failing to rescue Twilight. Little did he know that the two blue and pink earth ponies was near him and Flash's scream caused the pink one to to jump onto the blue one. "What are you doing? Why are you yelling? You scared me half to death!" The pink pony spluttered "...And you!" The blue mare said to the pink colt "why are on top of me? Get down!" she bellowed. "Huh?" The two ponies said in unison and stopped moving, the pink colt jumped down and said "On...top? Yes that's it!" The ponies cried in delight and headed to the tree next to them. "Piggyback!" they said and the Pink pony hopped onto the blue. The code flew out and opened, then flew back in again. Flash tried to do the same thing, but failed. "What? I can't seem to learn this action!" Flash said in horror. "What's this?" The blue pony said "are you trying to learn our action alone? Ha ha ha! That's impossible if you ask me!" "This action requires two ponies! See? One and two!" The pink one said pointing at his partner then himself. "If you really want to learn it, you'll have to find a partner!" The blue pony continued then both ponies concluded in unison: "No partner, no action!" Then they turned around and started collecting the apples. "Wow! This is great! Its like an all-you-can-eat buffet!" The pink one said with glee "Hold it! You can't eat all of those apples! Time to switch!" The blue pony yelled angrily. Flash sighed, "I need to rescue the Princess and learn actions as well! Now I need a partner to do it? Can't this day just get any worse? And who will be my partner anyway?" Flash thought, he decided to head back and report in a mission failure, he wondered what punishment he would get from the Captain, especially if the victim was his sister. As he crossed the bridge, the peach unicorn came up to him. "Hey Flash! Do you think this boat would be fun to drive?" She said "Hmmm... Yeah, It would be." Flash agreed "That right! It would be very fun! But there's no power to move the boat! If it should work the way I think it works, put something in the middle of the boat and it should move." Flash recorded the action and noticed a rather peculiar looking object that looks like a Swan floating... against the current, as he looked closer, it turned out it was not a real swan. Flash got really suspicious "Something must be moving it! But what?" Flash wondered so he called out to the object. "Glubahhhhhhh!" A magic mint coloured unicorn rose from the water with the Swan object stuck on her back. "Hi there! I'm Lyra Heartstrings! Water doesn't scare me! In fact I love it! After all, I do have seapony ancestry and swimming is what humans like to do and I want to be like one of them!" Lyra swam to the river bank and climbed out. "Oh yeah! You've got great timing! I need you to do something for me. Something's stuck to my back and I can't get it off. Remove it for me would you?" Lyra said as she flipped onto one side landing on her front hooves then flipping forward while not moving and landed on her hind legs before moving back to her original position. Flash recorded the move then proceeded to remove the object neatly. "You saved me greatly! Thanks a bunch!" Lyra thanked then continued "by the way, what was that thing?" Flash gave the Swan shaped potty training seat to Lyra after finding out what it was. "Eww! This is a training seat used for potty training? That's gross! However, I find it rather funny so I'll keep it for now." As, Lyra put the seat in her waterproof saddlebags, Lyra then recognised Flash's face. "Hey, aren't you Flash Sentry?" Lyra questioned, "Yep, that's me!" Flash answered "I see, Shining Armor has told me all about you being his second-in-command and all! You see, I got a job at the barracks where you are currently residing at: Running a photo studio. Since Photo Finish is currently away, me and my best friend Bon Bon are now doing all the photo taking. The studio should be already complete by now so wear your fancy clothes and dazzling accessories down at the photo studio and Bon Bon and I can get your picture taken! Just so you know, you need a partner if you want to get your photo taken so we can't take a picture of you unless you find yourself a partner! Don't worry, you're the second-in-command so it shouldn't be that hard to get a girl! I hope we can be friends, see you in the Barracks!" Lyra said waving goodbye and heading to the teleporter near the big tree Flash climbed. Flash grumbled "Wow! Everyone is telling me that I need a partner to do this and that! This is annoying, who would want to be my partner anyway!? No one likes me!" At that moment, Flash noticed the magical rod used as a bridge. Then he remembered the peach pony's words 'put something in the middle and it should move.' Flash immediately knew what to do. He removed the magical rod and trotted off to the boat. There, he put the rod in the boat and it fit perfectly! Flash hopped in the boat, and as he stepped on the gas, it moved against the current!!! "Yes! It worked! I'm coming for you Princess!" Flash cried and drove the boat to the miniature dock where Twilight was. Twilight ran over to Flash and started speaking in shock "Oh Flash! I'd never thought I'd escape for sure! I came here to investigate this area because there is this invisible field around here that is disrupting most of the unicorn's powers such as teleportation or lifting heavy objects, all the unicorns can only levitate small things close to their range and the Pegasi can't fly either! I guess you can't fly over here can you?" "Nope, my wings don't work." Flash agreed "Well, I was looking around here when suddenly, a big boulder came crashing down! If I had been standing underneath it... No! I don't even want to think about that!" Twilight continued, when she said 'large', she used her magic to temporarily enlarge herself then reverted back to her original size. Flash recorded that action. "You know, I had enough bad things happening to my liking. Having most of your magic disrupted and getting trapped between a rock and a hard place, literally! As a Princess of Equestria, I'm assigning you to be my part- uhh, a personal guard from now on so do the oath of partners with me!" Twilight declared before Flash can complain on what her brother, his superior would say. Now that Flash was forced into this, he had to preform the oath to become partners with Twilight. Flash inspected Twilight, then Twilight inspected Flash, both nodded at each other, then jumped and raised their hoofs to the air symmetrically. "By the way Flash, why did you come here again?" Twilight questioned "Your brother was worried about you so he sent me to look for you." Flash answered "I see, but...I can't go yet. You see, Spike thinks Rarity is really angry with him so he's really depressed as ever. I need to ask Rarity what is going on but I can't get to her due to this magic disruption and she up on this hard to reach spot so I can't talk to her. Oh yeah! Now that you're here Flash, we can work together to reach her! I just hope we can lend a hoof before its too late!" "I spoke too soon of getting a partner..." Flash mumbled to himself as he Twilight hopped on the the boat. Author's Note So much things in the way and I only finish this chapter in a week! Oh man, I need to find some time alone to do this. Heartbroken!? Flash drove out of the pier and reversed the boat to the dock where the peach unicorn was. The peach unicorn came up to Flash and said "I saw you drive that boat! That is totally fantastic!" She said spinning 360 degrees then jumping into the air with a pose. Flash recoded the action and replied "I actually couldn't have done it without your help on how to move the boat." Complimenting her. "Aww thanks! You're too kind! So you've found the Princess! Its an honour to make your acquaintance Princess Sparkle!" The unicorn thanked and bowed down to Twilight. "Oh no, the pleasure is all mine knowing someone who helped rescue me!" Twilight replied blushing. "Well, then, see you around!" Flash said and waved goodbye. As Flash and Twilight came back to the bridge, the rod that was removed by Flash was now replaced with another log. "Thanks Princess Celestia!" Flash prayed as he crossed the first log before helping Twilight across. When they reached the other side, Twilight asked "Why are we going back up the mountain again when we can just use to boat to reach Rarity easily?" "Rarity is in a hard to reach spot right? We don't know how to reach her, luckily, I know two ponies who can and they can teach us!" Flash answered and pointed to the two ponies on top of each other eating apples from the tree. As they approached the apple eating ponies, Flash got their attention. "What? What? What?" The blue and pink pony said in unison looking around then turning to Flash. "Well now! You actually did go and find yourself a special partner! You are such a lucky pony to become partners with 'the' Princess Twilight Sparkle!" The Pink one said amazed and bowed to Twilight. "Actually, I just became her personal bodyguard so there's nothing special" Flash replied blushing "Well, a bodyguard is still a partner anyway! So as I promised, I will teach you our secret, our action!" The blue pony said and as the pink pony jumped off, both ponies demonstrated the piggyback action again. This time, Flash was able to record the action and memorised it with Twilight. "This is a very useful action so you may be using it often!" The pink pony concluded and both went back to devouring the apple tree. The Princess and her loyal guardspony headed back to the boat. Flash started the boat engine and the two drove off to the waterfall. During the trip, Twilight enjoyed the windy breeze flowing into her face and hair, to prevent her from flying out of the boat, she wrapped her front legs around Flash's body and held on to him "Huh, what?" Flash noticed Twilight Sparkle cuddling him "Oh don't mind me! Just drive." Twilight replied and snuggled even closer to him as Flash turned his attention back to driving the boat. Flash took a stop on a mini-pier where the path of land leads to a small rainbow, at the end of the rainbow, there was no pot of bits to be seen. It was just a rock but he inspected it and picked it up nonetheless "Rocks can be useful" he said. Once reaching the same mini pier the boat was tied to, Flash docked the boat and both jumped out meeting the pony who was looking for the swan-shaped training seat. "Oh! So you found the girl you were looking for? That's good. Oh! Pardon me! You were looking for the Princess! However, I'm still looking for that seat... Oh! Can you help me here? Is it ok if you can help me look for a training seat my sister lost? I'll look here, try looking somewhere else." Flash and Twilight nodded, they always like to help other people! Flash and Twilight climbed the vines up to the platform halfway up the waterfall where Rarity was. "Ok Twilight, remember how those other ponies did it?" Flash instructed "You just have to jump on to me and get Rarity's attention when you're on me." "Let's hope this works Flash!" Twilight replied. Flash readied himself to take on any weight and Twilight jumped on top of Flash performing the Piggyback successfully. "Rarity! Nice to see you!" Twilight greeted getting her attention. "Huh? Oh! Twilight darling!" Rarity replied and continued "I'm feeling depressed. Will you listen to my story?" "I will do any for a friend so yes!" Twilight said Putting her front hooves on her head performing the yes action and Rarity started her story "It's... It's about Spike, he doesn't like me anymore." and sighed "What? That is definitely not true at all! I know Spike and he will always like you. Why don't you come down and talk? Flash can't support me forever!" Twilight replied. "Well...ok." Rarity agreed. Twilight moved her hooves up to the platform Rarity was on to allow Rarity to climb down Twilight and Flash. Twilight jumped off Flash giving him some relief for his back. Rarity continued her story "Apparently, Spike likes looking at gems more than he likes looking at me. At least, that's what I HEARD he said... No offence but you have such a lousy assistant Twilight. I wonder if Spike even like me at all..." She finished her story and sighed. "All right Flash, have you seen Spike when you were trying to rescue me?" Twilight questioned and Flash nodded in agreement. "What was he doing?" "Last time I checked, he was crying about you Rarity, he had no idea what was going on and accepted the 'fact' that you were mad at him and so he is very upset and sad." Flash answered and mimicked the action that Spike taught him. "Really? Spike is sad? Bu...but he's been really distant from me lately... I don't think he wants me around." Rarity said with surprise "Oh, I really think you're mistaken" Twilight replied "I know Spike very much and he wouldn't say such a thing to you! Spike was out looking for gems for you Rarity, all for you!" "Really darling? Do you actually think so? But he said he would rather look at gems than see my face! I know it because this weird mix up of different animals told me all about it! Why would anyone lie like that? If what you say is true, then I have to go to apologise to Spike then!" As tears welled up in Rarity's eyes and bowed her head in apology. Flash recorded the action as Rarity started the walk to Spike. "Come on Flash! I'm worried to so lets go check on Spike!" Twilight said and both followed Rarity. However, when going across the mountain, Flash accidentally stopped on top of a newspaper lying on the ground. As luck have it, it belonged to that same pony who owned the Handkerchief! "You again! You dare step on another one of my belongings! This time you are stepping on my Newspaper, N-E-W-S-P-A-P-E-R! It's mine, give it back!" He said and yanked the Newspaper below Flash's feet tripping him up this time. "Will you ever learn not to ride on other people's things! You are so inconsiderate! You don't deserve to be travelling with the Princess! Sheesh!" The pony stormed off without bowing to Twilight. "*Sigh* I really need to stop stepping on things" Flash regretfully said picking himself up and dusting off the dirt from his fur." "Well, that guy shouldn't have responded like that." Twilight said comforting Flash and cheering him up. "Let's hurry up to Spike and Rarity!" When they reached the clear area of the mountain, Spike noticed them. "Flash! Twilight! Thank you so much! Thanks to you, Rarity and I are back together again!" Spike said with gratidude "Tee hee... I apologised, and he forgave me. Now we can have small talk again!" Rarity said whispering something into Spike's ear then Spike whispering something into Rarity's ear and Flash recorded the Small Talk action. "That makes me blush! Oh! I almost forgot! Rarity, I got this especially for you!" Spike remembered and gave a very large Amethyst to Rarity. "It's the largest gem I could ever find that matches your beautiful mane! Do you like it?" Spike asked, "Spike..." Rarity whispered for everyone to hear with her eyes shining due to the reflection of the sun and continued "Thank you, that's the Spike... That I'm crazy about!" Rarity cried with glee as she blushed. Spike went incredibly red as soon as he heard those words. "C...C...Crazy?! Did you say crazy!?!? About me!?!?!? I'm so...so... Happy! Yahoo!! Hip Hip Hooray!!!" Spike screamed with joy jumping up and down. "Aww... Come on stop. You are just saying that." Rarity said. As Spike stopped jumping, both he and Rarity looked at each other with care and happiness. 2 broken halves of a heart appeared on top of their heads. One on Spike and the other on Rarity. The two halves moved toward each other and as they touch, the heart flashed a couple number of times becoming one whole heart again and then enlarged engulfing Spike, Rarity, Twilight and Flash. The love meter Flash dug up in the barracks floated gracefully in front of Twilight and Flash. Two magical sparks created by the large heart surrounded the love meter and rotated around it creating a little volume of liquid in it. The heart then started shrinking to its original size ending up as one plump red heart of love floating above between Spike and Rarity: Spike and Rarity are back together. Their love for each other has been saved! Flash and Twilight nodded at each other, brohoofed and holding the position of their hooves till touching, moved their hooves and turned their heads to one side and swung their hooves along with their heads straight to the other side in a triumphant symmetrical pose. "I'm so glad that we can help!" Twilight cheerfully said "Well Flash, let's head back to the barracks." Flash nodded and both of them made the walk back to the teleporter. But then, a dreadful but classy voice rang out "Arrrgh!!! What have you done, pfpfpfpfth?" And a Draconequus came charging and barging into Flash knocking him out, the Draconequus continued "You just put them back together... when they were oh so perfectly unhappy!! You dare unbreak the hearts I broke!? I will not be undone pfpfth! No one ever crosses claws, paws, hooves or whatever with the Great Discord pfpfth! I am the spirit of Chaos! The destroyer of harmony! The sworn enemy of Cosmos... I mean the Princesses, especially you Princess Twilight! What fun is there in this folly called love? I will continue to crush and shatter all your ponies witted love and control the land of Equestria with chaos and hate pfpfpfh... Bwah ha ha ha haaaaaaaa! Now that you know what my plans are, I advise you to keep your noses out of my business unless you want to witness my power pfpfpfpfpfpfpfpfth!!!!" And with that, he stormed off. "What?... Who?...Why? Discord is back? No It can't be!" Twilight shockingly stammered and started to panic wildly "This is just terrible! He's going to destroy the love between all ponies!" Twilight panicked even further then grabbed the unconscious Flash and shook him to try and wake him up "No! No! NO!" Cried Twilight holding Flash harder and shaking him even further. "Not us Flash Sentry! We will always have love!" Twilight said ,putting her hooves on her mouth with her eyes closed and made a blow kiss opening her eyes which gleamed like the sun twice (the blow kissing). "Right Flash?" She questioned after preforming the action and continuing to shake Flash. "Wah...Wai...WHAT!?" The sentence that left Twilight's mouth immediately woke up Flash in shock and terror. He just looked at Twilight still clutching him and blushed. He stood up so Twilight would stop shaking him then the Code of Actions popped out radiating the blue aura. As the book opened, it recorded the action... Of love! As the book closed, Flash looked up with an unimpressed look on his face then turned and glared at the Princess who put her hooves over her mouth. "This is serious but before we need to do anything else, we should head back to the barracks now! Come Flash! Your Princess needs you!" Twilight jested. Flash, was still not amused but followed Twilight back to the teleporter. Flash and Twilight stepped from the teleporter into the Barracks where Shining Armor welcomed them. "You're finally back Twiliy! I've been waiting for you so long! Well done for a mission complete Flash, just what I'd expect from a lieutenant of mine. Fall out and await further orders." As Shining dismissed Flash, he continued "Now Twilight, I heard from Princess Celestia that you were investigating something in Rainbow Plains, what did you find?" "Well...ummm, the atmosphere was really different there, most of the magic is nullified and is powerful enough to nullify even mine! It also negated the Pegasi's ability to fly!" Twilight explained "But that's not all!" "Well... What actually happened?" Shining asked in confusion to his sister's panic "Actually, there was... and so... and that's that." Twilight explained "I see... Wait, what?!? Discord the Dragonequus? The spirit of Chaos? The man once known as Garland?... Oh wait, sorry about that, I've been playing to much on my Haystation Portable. But the Draconequus? A mix-up of animals? Wanting to destroy love? That sounds really serious. Hey! That's just like Flash's dream!" Shining exclaimed and Flash looked up while he was helping some soldiers build something. Flash walked up to his Captain and Shining continued "So you saw it coming then? Actually, that doesn't really help now. What do we have to do?" "Well, sir, you are the Captain." Flash answered leaving Shining in dire straits "Uh... Chain of Command! What do you think sis?" Shining quickly asked her sister "Hey! I'm new to this Princess job all right? I don't know what to do!" Twilight addressed keeping her cool. During this argument, the three didn't notice somepony stepping out of the teleporter, a Pink Alicorn creeped up behind Twilight and spoke "I see, tee hee...! Why hello dear Shining and Twilight! Oh and you too Flash!" The Three was shocked and immediately turned around. "Princess Cadence!" Flash exclaimed and bowed to her with Shining doing the same. "Oh Hello Dear..." Shining said to his wife as he approached her and kissed her cheek "Cadence!" Twilight exclaimed as she went to nuzzle her sister-in-law. "Lets see... um, greetings!" Princess Cadence said "Is that right? I'm new to learning the soldiers code of actions Princess Celestia put up you see. Anyhoo, I'm here in this part of Equestria on an confidential mission but I stopped by just to see my two favourite people of all time: My dear husband and sister-in-law!" Princess Cadence chuckled "Anyway dear, what were you looking for? Perhaps I and some of the soldiers could lend a hand." Shining asked to know what Cadence's mission was. "Well yes, I'm here to chase down that annoying draconequus named Discord. He's been interfering with love again!" "WHAT!?" The three exclaimed startling Cadence and Flash explained "that's actually who we are talking about right now!" "Oh! So it appears that you have met him did you? Broken out of his stone prison and he decides to wreck love this time! Ooh! It really steams me up! I'm sick and tired of it! I really need to rest but I'm afraid that Discord would get ahead and break more bonds of love and that would create a very nasty field of sorrow and unhappiness which would limit the magic of a unicorn and take away a pegasus' ability to fly!" Flash and Twilight's face went ashen and Cadence noticed "Oh dear! It seems you have experienced this curse." "Encountered it in Rainbow Plains. I went to investigate, I got trapped and Flash saved me." Twilight explained and smiled at Flash who looked the other way. "Hmm..." Cadence thought awhile then came up with an idea "Shining? Do you know where you put that love meter I gave you?" "Princess Cadence, Don't you mean this thing?" Flash Sentry managed to speak out despite holding the love meter. "Ah yes! Let me see it!" As Cadence magically held the meter. "Twilight, I have a favour to ask... whenever you heal a broken heart, this meter will fill up with energy of love and so I want you to collects lots of energy. With it, I know we can defeat Discord this time! I'm pooped chasing him now so its up to you to stop him! For me and the love in Equestria, oh and something good happens when you fill it up to the top!" Cadence addressed Twilight giving the Love Meter back to Flash. "All right then, actually I just need to get my friends and the Elements Of Harmony and then we can take him down! Its just that I don't know lots about your Love Meter so I'm not sure if that will pose a threat to Discord." "Unfortunately Twilight, that is not an option because your friends if I saw correctly, seem to have fallen to Discord's Heartbreaking scheme. They've got broken hearts currently in their mind right now and unhappy to do anything. Its your job to save them and other couples." Princess Cadence said sadly "But I just can't do it alone! Well, I've got my..." "That's who I want you to go with." Cadence interrupted with a smile. "Your 'personal guardspony' Flash Sentry" "What! But how did you know?" Twilight gasped as did her brother, Flash just rolled his eyes. "Twiliy, when did you assign my Finest Lieutenant to become your bodyguard?" Flash asked sternly "Princess' orders Captain." Flash answered in defence of Twilight "Shining dear, Twilight knows what she's doing and she's old enough to make her own decisions as a Princess. Besides, she's trusts Flash and I trust him too, you should also put trust in him since he is your Right-Hand soldier!" Cadence explained glancing by Flash to give him a wink since she knows that Flash piped up in defence of Twilight. "Sir, just to let you know, I apply to anyone's orders if they are for the right cause so I am fine with being her bodyguard." Flash continued making Twilight blush. "...All right then. Twiliy, I want you to stay safe and keep close to Flash at all times. Flash, I want you to take extra care of my sister because if you don't... I will see to it right away." Shining Armor warned "*Gulp* Yes sir!" Flash put his front leg up in salute. "Okay then dears! I'll be waiting here with Shining so... Ah! A second floor, is that the resting quarters? I'll be catching a few Zs up there and tracking where Discord goes. Until then, Toodle-loo dears!" And with that, she trotted up to the resting quarters. "Okay, umm... anyway, the concert hall and photo booth is complete so if you two want to pop by and dance or take a photo, feel free to! With my permission of course." Shining Armor said "Looks like this love saving business Cadence talked about is up to you two. Don't fail!" "Don't worry BBBFF! Flash and I will prevail!" Twilight cheered and both Flash and Twilight walked to the teleporter heading for Rainbow Plains. Shining then walked upstairs to where Cadence was. "All right dear, what are you planning?" Shining asked suspiciously. "Oh come on Shining! Don't you see it already? Your sister really needs a Coltfriend and your Lieutenant is the best match for her!" Cadence chuckled. You must be Flash Sentry and Princess Twilight! My name's Sweetie Drops but everyone calls me Bon Bon!" Bon Bon greeted bowing to Twilight and Twilight smiled back in reply. "Nice to meet you! Actually, I came to see you Lyra, I'm actually looking for that training seat on top of your head." Flash asked Lyra "He he he! I look silly in this! Someone take a picture of me and Bon Bon for this!" Lyra joked "I guess you want to wear it as well Flash? That's pretty extreme for a high ranking officer to be a laughingstock don't you think? But in that case, Its all yours then!" Lyra agreed levitating the seat with her magic and giving it to Flash. "Stop by to take a picture sometime!" Bon Bon waved as they said farewell to Flash and Twilight. Flash came across the pony he tripped over recently now snoozing on the table. "*Snooze* Aaaahhhhh, goood mooorning Princess Twilight and Flaaash. Do you need something? zzzzzzzzz..." The pony yawned, Flash recorded the snooze action. "I see you are doing well! Umm..." "Just call me snoozy, zzzzzz" Snoozy introduced "What do you want to talk about?" He asked "Oh nothing, just to see how you're doing" Flash answered "Well, I'm so sleepy, zzz....." Snoozy replied and went back to sleep. Flash then found a certain pegasus sitting on a table whom is not a soldier. "Can I help you?" Flash greeted and questioned "Oh no! I'm the mail courier for this barrack! I'm just replacing someone else's job as a mailmare! My name's Cloud Kicker, nice to meet you!" Cloud Kicker greeted shaking Flash's hoof. "If you need a delivery, come by and see me! I'm your temporary mare for sending mail! Speaking of mail, there is a contest to express the most unique actions! Just fill out the postcard over there on what Action you'd like to enter and give it to me to send! You could win an amazing prize so give it a try! "Will think about it then Cloud" Twilight thanked and headed off to the teleporter with Flash Back in Rainbow Plains, the two were trudging up the mountain as the boat was left on the other side of the dock. As they climbed up the field, they noticed something different. The blue apple-munching pony was all alone! "Hang on, wasn't she with someone before?" Flash wondered and greeted her to see what happened The blue pony let out a sigh "Oh, you two... You didn't see my friend did you? He was only supposed to be taking a short break and yet he still hasn't come back." She paused to turn around then turned back in a frustrating manner. "Oh! where has he gone! Doesn't he know how worried I am?!?" She calmed down and sighed "If he's not here, I don't want to eat." and continued being unhappily silent. "Hmm... Something's not right here, a unhappy pony and a missing friend, Flash, get the love meter Cadence was talking about." Flash nodded and pulled the love meter out of his bag, a broken half of a heart revealed itself to Flash and Twilight. Knowing what it was, they went to find the pink pony. But alas, Flash this time, trodded on a strap although he noticed, "Umm... This strap belongs to no one... does it?" He fearfully asked "I think you should ask that pony charging straight at us." Twilight answered pointing to that same pony who owned the Handkerchief and the Newspaper angrily running towards Flash. "You again? This is the third time! You are completely insensitive you know that?" "No please sorry I just found out!" Flash apologised hastily but the pony wasn't listening "That strap! S-T-R-A-P! STRAP! Do you always seem to ride on everything you see?!?" He continued and yanked the strap under Flash's legs causing him to spin around in one direction and returning to its original position like a boomerang before slowing down and falling flat on the floor. Twilight was horrified and distressed about what happened to her colt- *cough* Pardon me! I meant her guardspony! Flash looked upwards from the floor and gave a small death stare to the writer of this story as he got up. "Oh, no... Now it's filthy, I can't use it now! Here! You got it dirty so you take it!" The pony yelled and threw the strap at Flash tripping him up again. Flash just silently accepts it as an item for his bags. Like he said with the rock, it may be useful! "Sheesh! Its not like it says "step on me"!" The pony blabbered and trotted off angrily. "Well I hope that's the last I see of that guy." Twilight said and kicked a massive tree causing an apple to fall and landing perfectly inside her saddlebags. To cheer up Flash, she changed the subject "Do you want to go shopping with me?" Twilight asked "How can you be concerned about shopping at a time like this?" Flash complained "Well, there is a clothes store right there!" Twilight pointed to the door that had a shirt hanging outside as its decoration "We'll go later. Right now, we have to find Arnie and give back that training seat." Flash said remembering their objective. The two climbed down the cliff vines and encountered Arnie. Arnie spotted the Training Seat sticking out of Flash's saddlebags. "Yes! That's it! That's what I'm looking for!" Arnie exclaimed then continued in a worried look "So um... You're going to give it to me, the training seat. Right?" "Of course! Why would we keep something that is not ours?" Flash agreed and gave the Training Seat to the pegasus. "Thanks! You're a lifesaver! If I didn't find it right away, well... It's vital you see!" Arnie said with an embarrassed look and continued "Again, thanks a bunch! See you later Flash and you too Princess!" he bowed to Twilight then climbed up the mountain vines. "I guess I have to get used to the princess thing!" Twilight blushed, Flash chuckled and then scaled the mountain with Twilight following behind. Reaching the top of the mountain, they came up close to the pegasus siblings. "Arnie! Yeah!" The young pegasus filly cheered at the return of her older brother "Did you behave?" Arnie questioned "Yep! I did just what you told me to do!" She then produced a worried look on her face "Uh, Arnie? I need to go potty. Did you find it?" "Of course! Here!" And Arnie gave the training seat to his sister who she snatched with glee "Yippee!! You're the best Arnie!" She exclaimed. "Oh you...you just can't survive without this training seat, can you?" Arnie questioned with a disappointing look "Yippee!! Yippee!! Yippee!! Yippee Yahoo!!" Arnie's sister jumped up and down cheering ignoring her brother's question. "Its getting late, should we head for home?" "Yep!" The pegasus siblings approach the door in the cliff face where the young filly was blocking. Arnie put his two hooves on one side of the door, while his sister puts her two hooves on the other. "Open!" They brought one hoof away from the door leaving their other hoof on the door and spun away from each other. The pulling force created by the spinning from their hoofs that were on the door causes the sides of the door to open in a sliding way. The siblings were dizzy after spinning but the door was successfully opened. Regaining conciousness, the siblings entered the cave and the door closed behind them and Flash recorded the action. Twilight noticed the large feather on the ground and tugged on Flash to come over. Flash pointed up to the sky to show that this feather was from a Phoenix which was currently flying above them. "Wow! The phoenix is surely a big bird, hey Flash, why don't we say something to the Phoenix?" Twilight asked "What, call out to it? Or just greet it? Oh well, lets greet it first." Flash agreed as both stood on the feather, they greeted in unison "Hello Mr Phoenix!" "Oh dear, I think I sound like Fluttershy..." Twilight wondered The Phoenix flew over the two again but however, a music note bounced on Flash's head and came to rest on the ground. The two cheered silently and came to see what this peculiar note was. As they both inspect it, Flash picked it up "Hmm... It says "Condor's Wings". Is this some type of music?" Flash questioned "Hmm. It proceeded to prod at the heart twice, the claw then retracted from the heart, stop and in a quick movement, struck the heart. The heart formed cracks in the middle and split in to two. One half levitated above a colt's head when the other half is levitating over a mare. The colt and the mare looked glared at each other and turned their heads away in disgust and started trotting off angrily in the opposite direction. The creature that broke the heart or in this case, the love between a couple was a draconequus who was laughing at the wrecked couple. The draconequus looked around and found another two ponies in love, these two ponies also had a heart hanging between them. He sneaked up to them and proceeded to break the heart above them which split into two. This couple just as the one before, turned away their heads in disgust and angrily trotted off away from each other. The dastardly draconequus broke the love of a third couple which had yielded the same result as the other two couples: Turning away from each other and trotting away from each other. The draconequus started laughing hardly and wildly and started to look for more couples to break up. As he looked forward, he saw a light-orange pegasus with blue hair. "Huh?" the pegasus tilted his head to one side, the draconequus pointed at him and chuckled and started to run towards him. "Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!" The Pegasus cried but the Draconequus kept on charging and the Pegasus seemed to be rooted to the spot unable to fly or run as the Draconequus pulled closer and closer. "Uuugh..Uuugh... NO!
