The Secret crush
The Secret comes out
Load Full Storyit was a nice and sunny afternoon, Fluttershy was getting ready for the summer sun celebration, telling one of the birds about a rhythm problem that he just couldn’t seem to shake.
She was getting ready to start the practice over from the top, when she heard a voice coming from behind her. She jumped in surprise as she saw a lavender unicorn walk up to her and ask her name. She told the mare that her name was Fluttershy but, due to a slight volume problem Fluttershy had to repeat herself a couple times.
That's when she saw the mare turning to talk to a small, cute, baby dragon, To say she was exited was an understatement. Fluttershy asked the dragon's name and what dragon's usually talked about. She ended up getting the dragons life story much to the unicorn's unseen discomfort as he talked about her as well.
Fluttershy had that day imprinted in her mind and could remember almost every little detail of it. The parts was the part of Spike's story that she remembered the best was anything that had to do with Twilight. Fluttershy’s face heated up a bit as she thought of her lavender friend, her face now matching her pink hair.
"Oh Angel what am I going to do?" She asked the bunny that was waiting for his food. The bunny pointed at his empty food bowl with a more annoyed look on his face than his usual look.
"Oh I’m so sorry, Angel. I was too far in in my own thoughts to see that your food bowl is empty. One bunny salad coming to your tummy in just a moment."
Having fed the bunny and eaten herself, Fluttershy decided to take a little walk to clear her head and maybe go visit a cyan colored friend. Maybe she could ask her about this confession since the cyan pegasus knew about this crush already anyway.
She had decided earlier during her breakfast that today was going to be the day she asked Twilight out on a date, and see if Twilight felt anything for her.
Knocking on the door to the cloud home of her long-time friend, she saw a messy rainbow colored mane pop out the door. Rainbow groggily looked up at Fluttershy with a bit of sleep in her eye.
"Hi Fluttershy. What brings you here so early in the morning?" she said, yawning as she whipped the sleep from here eyes.
"Um, it’s actually two in the afternoon. But never mind that. I’m here to ask for your advice on something." Fluttershy said with conviction.
Rainbow could she the determination in Fluttershy's eye, "Are you going to ask her out today Shy?" she asked with a surprising tone in her voice.
"Yes, and I want to do it right, the kind of right where she wouldn’t even want to think of saying no," she said with a serious tone and a sharp look of determination in her eye.
The rainbow mare didn’t know what to say. She didn’t think Fluttershy was ever going gather up the nerve to ask Twilight out, let alone after she became a princess. But hay, better late than never right?
"Well the only thing I can think of is a picnic on a hill. You know, only you two and at sunset, and all that mushy junk. But, I don't really know Shy, I mean I’m no expert on romance. That’s more Rarity’s department." She said sheepishly as she ran her hoof up and down her neck.
"You know what Rainbow? I think I might do that, it sounds like something she would like." she said while a smile grew on her face.
“Cool, let me know how it goes alright? I’m going to go back to bed.”
With a determined nod Fluttershy flew off to the library as Rainbow prepared to fly off to dreamland.
Fluttershy was on her way to the library to ask Twilight on a picnic date on a hill with just the two of them. She was nervous of course. More nervous than she had ever been before, including her short modling carrer. She loved Twilight for her smarts and calming personality. The fact she was the cutest thing when she was relaxed didn’t hurt either.
She saw the big oak library in the distance and started wondering what she would say to Twilight. A knock on the door followed by a magical glow opening the door Fluttershy saw Twilight punting a book in the shelf. ‘ She was properly re-stalking the shelves... again. Anyway, get it together Fluttershy you are about to ask Twilight out,’ Fluttershy thought, trying to psyche herself up.
"Hey Fluttershy. What bring you here? It's almost sundown," she said with a small smile on her face.
"Well I was, um, wondering if you wanted to, maybe, have a small picnic with me?" She looked at the floor and taping her hoof on the ground as well a small blush come to her face.
Twilight looked at Fluttershy surprised, 'Did she just ask me out? What do I say? Is it because she just wants to be a good friend and I’m just reading into this too much? Actually, I was studying all day so, I haven't had time to eat yet. Maybe she had a feeling I needed some food? Many a questions came to Twilight's head at that moment. Some making her feel giddy and some nearly killing the mood she was building. Finally she got her mind back to its usual self.
"If you don't mind Fluttershy, can I ask you what the occasion is? Also is it only us?" she asked while having a relaxed look in her eye.
"Well I kind of need to talk to you about something, it's a personal matter and I have a lot of trust in you, so it’s just you," she said with a nervous but determined look on her face.
"Okay. I'll come, just give me an hour or so to prepare, finish some studies and all that. You know me," she said with a giggle and a happy tone in her voice.
"Yes, of course. I need to get the food anyways, also the animals need some food too." Fluttershy explained as she gave a small nod.
“So, meet here in an hour?” Twilight asked. Her studies suddenly feeling less important than standing in the doorway.
“Mhm” Fluttershy hummed in agreement as she continued to stand in front of the door, the moment beginning to get awkward.
“So…Those animals are probably pretty hungry about now huh?” Twilight offered. As much as she didn’t want to, the moment needed to end. It had started to feel pretty awkward.
Fluttershy had felt how akward the moment had gotten and took the opening. “Oh, yes. The poor things are probably starving. I’ll see you later Twilight.” With that both ponies finally left the doorway.
Fluttershy hummed a small tune as she made her way to the library. She was happy and still extremely nervous. After all, she was going on a picnic with the love of her life. This day was coming to an end in, she had the picnic basket all set all she needed to do now was meeting Twilight at the library to take her to the hill.
A light knock on the door was heard through the library, Twilight was starting to get nervous as she opens the door and saw Fluttershy with a picnic basket.
"Hi Twilight! Are you done with your studies for the day?" Fluttershy asked, smiling. She was so happy that this was going good so far. She was still pretty nervous and had a small blush on her face, but this was farther than had even dared to imagine she would get even a month ago.
"Yes Fluttershy. Shall we be on our way?" Twilight asked, her nervousness well hidden behind the happiness she found herself feeling.
They were eating the food Fluttershy had prepared for them happily. Twilight ate a bit faster than Fluttershy due to not having ate since breakfast. With her sandwich all done, Twilight decided to ask Fluttershy what she wanted to talk about.
"So Fluttershy, what is it that you wanted to talk about?" Twilight asked with a happy tone but the serious concern in her voice let the pegasus know that she was truly listening.
"Well, I kinda have something I wanted to ask you,” she answered with a nervous voice but her face only seemed to get more serious, though it had a gentle feel to it. "You see, for some time now I have had these feelings toward you, and I wanted you to know." She looked at twilight, who had a curious look on her face. "It’s okay if you don’t feel the same. I just wanted- no, needed you to know that… I love you Twilight Sparkle." She looked at Twilight with a soft look in her eye and a small, gentle smile on her face.
Twilight didn’t know how to respond to this. She had been feeling something whenever Fluttershy was close for the past month. Did she love Fluttershy? For one of the few times in her life Twilight didn’t let her brain do the thinking. She let her heart.
Fluttershy saw that Twilight was beginning to lean closer ‘Oh my Celestia, is she about to...’ before she could finish the thought she felt the Twilight's lips touch her own in a nervous but, gentle kiss.
The kiss broke a part and Twilight had a small blush and a little smile on her face while her eye's looked down. Fluttershy on the other hand had a surprised look on her face and her mouth was opened slightly.
"You see Fluttershy for about a month now I have had this feeling whenever you were around, I can’t say that it's love but, I want to give it a try, so what do you think about another date in a week or so?"
Fluttershy had the same face while a small smile was forming flowing the words "I would like that Twilight, I do hope that this is love and not another one of my dreams" Fluttershy said with a smile on her face. This was reality, this was really happening. She couldn't be any happier.
