Chapters Twilight was startled when Fluttershy came into the library.
"Hey Fluttershy, whats up?" Twilight asked.
"Umm.. Somethings wrong with Discord." Fluttershy replied.
"What do you mean, is he sick or something?" Twilight asked.
"No, I mean he is acting weird, even though he is reformed, I didn't expect him to be this friendly." she replied.
"Let me show you myself, if you're free." Fluttershy said.
They began to trot over to Fluttershy's cottage at the corner of town.
"Has something happened to him that could cause him to act his way?" Twilight asked.
"Oh, not that I know of," Fluttershy replied, "If something did happen he would tell me."
They finally reached the cottage, and stepped inside.
"Well hello Fluttershy, and hey Twilight! Nice to see you!" Discord said.
"Yeah," Twilight said, "Something is definitely wrong here.".
"What could be wrong on this beautiful day?" Discord said with a smile.
"Sit down please." Twilight said.
Discord sat down on the nearest chair.
Twilight took out a quill and an empty scroll.
"Now, have you experienced anything unusual lately?" Twilight asked.
"No." Discord replied, "Why?"
"Anything involving mirrors?" Twilight asked again.
Discord's face darkened, "Do not remind me of that horrible place." Discord said with a frown.
"What place?" Twilight asked.
"I don't want to talk about it." Discord said while crossing his arms.
"Please Discord" Twilight began, "I need to know about that place.".
"They finally offered me a way out, by replacing me with another version of me, a more unfriendly version, a version of chaos. They have already began to replace other ponies with darker, more hateful ponies. They want to conquer this universe." Discord said.
"What is he talking about?" Fluttershy asked, but she got no response.
Twilight was already running to her library.
Twilight frantically wrote down everything she had heard.
"Spike, get up now!" she yelled.
Spike walked down the stairs tired and groggy, "What is it now?" he asked.
"Send this scroll to the princess now!" she said.
"Why so urgently?" Spike asked, "Are you getting all worked up over nothing again?"
"Spike please, this is serious!" Twilight said.
"That's what you said last time." Spike said.
Twilight looked at Spike angrily, "DO IT NOW!" she screamed.
Spike was clearly startled, but he did as he was told.
"Now would you mind telling me whats going on?" Spike asked after sending the scroll
Twilight turned to him "Let's just say that the entire fate of Equestria is at stake!"
Spike didn't react at all, "That's what you said just before you broke into the Canterlot archives on a hunch." he said.
"You don't have to believe me, just go and get my mirror." Twilight said angrily.
Spike sighed, and went back upstairs.
Twilight began to search through the library, book after book, and she managed to find one thing.
It was nothing more than a chapter about how a mirror could be used as a gateway to another universe, if one was good enough with magic.
Spike finally came downstairs with the mirror and set it on the wall.
Twilight went over to it and began to inspect it.
"Hmmm," she said, "I just need a certain spell and than I might be able to get in, and I know just the place to find such a spell!"
"Don't tell me it's the archives is it?" Spike asked.
"It sure is, except this time we don't have to sneak in." Twilight replied.
"Do we have to wear rubber suits again?" Spike asked before laughing hysterically.
Twilight rolled her eyes, "I'll gather everypony up and we'll set off for Canterlot first thing tomorrow." she said.
"Great," Spike said, "Another adventure.".
"Explain to me why we are going to Canterlot again." Rainbow Dash said, obviously annoyed.
"I can't explain now," Twilight replied, "I just have some things to do, you can all go do whatever you want, I'll tell you when we have to go.".
The train ride to Canterlot was about two hours long, but Twilight made sure that they got an early start. Now, Canterlot was in sight, it wouldn't be long.
Spike was tired, like always, and was sleeping on his seat.
Twilight nudged him, and he woke up.
"What does it take to get some sleep around here?" he asked.
Twilight ignored his question, "We're almost there." she said.
They finally pulled into the station, and stepped out.
"Alright girls," Twilight began, "I'm going to got talk with the princess, you can all go about your business."
"Why did you take us here if we have nothing to do with this?" Rainbow Dash asked.
"Because, just in case we need the Elements Of Harmony, I'll have you guys at the ready." Twilight replied.
They all split up into different directions, and Twilight began to walk to the castle.
She walked to the door.
"Oh hey Twilight!" One of the guards said, "What brings you here?".
"I need to see the princess." Twilight said.
"Well go ahead," The guard replied, "She's inside.".
Twilight ran into the throne room, Spike by her side.
"Princess!" Twilight said urgently.
"Hello Twilight! What do you need?" Celestia asked.
Twilight didn't reply, she just gave Celestia the reports.
Celestia began to read them, her face darkening as she did so. She turned back to Twilight.
"I never thought that they would stoop that low." she said, "They usually don't interfere with us."
"What?" Twilight said.
"Alternate Equestria has been a problem for decades," Celestia began, "They have been replacing ponies for years, but they are mainly very quiet about it. But now, they have got themselves noticed, the reason they do this is because their world can be destroyed by someone from this one. So they take ponies who have immense magical power, to ensure that they can't destroy it. That's how Starswirl The Bearded was killed, we assume."
Twilight's face turned almost pale due to shock.
"Why haven't you destroyed it?" Twilight asked.
"Because if I went in, they would surely kill me, and I can't leave Equestria leaderless." Celestia replied.
"You have to go inside to destroy it?" Twilight asked.
"Yes. It is very dangerous, and no one has come out alive." Celestia answered.
Twilight felt a rush of bravery, "I'll do it!" she exclaimed.
"Twilight, please don't. You have no idea what could happen." Celestia pleaded.
"Princess, I have defeated nightmare moon, Discord, and King Sombra, my couldn't I defeat myself?" Twilight said boldly.
"Because the alternate you has done those exact same things, only in a more violent way." Celestia replied, "Just go home and try to forget about this, I'll try to handle it."
Twilight and Spike left the castle.
"I guess you weren't overreacting huh?" Spike said seriously.
Twilight didn't respond. She was two busy deciding what to do next.
Twilight read over the scroll in disbelief.
Surely there was no way a pony could disappear for five days, only to reappear perfectly fine and healthy.
This was her job however, any arcane mystery that Celestia didn't have time for, was given to Twilight.
"This is the third time this week something like this has happened." she said to herself.
She began to trot to one of the houses in Ponyville to interview the disappearing and reappearing pony. Not only has the pony vanished into thin air, but has also given descriptions about an alternate Equestria. This story could not, under any circumstances be told to any other pony. It would cause panic and rioting.
Twilight finally found the house and knocked on the door.
A younger mare opened the door.
"Oh, you must be Twilight." the mare said, "Please come in."
Twilight stepped into the house, it was nice and cool inside.
"Thank you miss...?" Twilight said.
"Oh, Sunbeam, my name is Sunbeam." the mare said.
"My husband's name is Wavelength." Sunbeam said, hes in the living room.
Twilight trotted over and found Wavelength, he was sitting and looking down at the floor.
She sat down, "Hello Wavelength, my name is-"
"Twilight I know." he said, "You told me yourself.".
"But, I don't recall that we've met before." Twilight said.
Wavelength looked up at her, "I didn't meet you, in a sense, I met a different you.".
"Explain please." Twilight asked.
"The alternate Equestria? Alright, but I hope you have a quill handy, this will be a lot to take in. The other Equestria is the exact opposite of this one, everypony acts differently than they should, for example, the princess? She killed Luna instead of banishing her, she did the same with others whose names I do not know. She was not a very friendly person, until you killed her."
Twilight was shocked, "I did what?" she asked.
"Well, you overthrew her, from what I was told, you took control of everything, but it wasn't enough, you wanted control of another land. More territory, more slaves. You found out how to use mirrors as gateways between the two universes, and thus, my darker version pulled me in, and spat me out. I don't know what he did to me, but I feel strange, I feel like a different pony."
Twilight was dumbstruck, that detail, that description, frightened her. It seemed like it could very well be true.
"Thank you for your time Wavelength." Twilight said, "If anything else happens, contact us."
Wavelength nodded.
Twilight began to walk back to her library. Why would she want to overthrow the princess? Why did this alternate Equestria exist? These questions were too much to take in at once. She had to get back to the library so that she could begin researching the subject. She needed to contact the princess too, and she had to do it quickly. The sooner she got to the bottom of this, the better.
