The Fashion Police

"Meoooow~" Opal purred loudly, as she gently walked over her master's face as she slept, trying to wake her up. She gently licked her owners muzzle trying to wake her up, but all she got was a few groans, and some dream speak. "No... that Sundress looks great on you Fluttershy" The ivory unicorn mare then turned to her other side, away from Opal, who rolled her eyes, and gave up on trying to wake her owner and went downstairs to eat.

A small smile appeared on Rarity's face as she got a few more moments rest, which the fashion pony desperately needed after staying up most of the night trying to design dresses. Sadly Rarity had gotten nowhere, as like the night before that, and the night before that, and the night before that, and- .... I think you get the Idea. She slept deeply, having what seemed to be a few good dreams about spending time with her friends... but sadly as most things are like when you are an Element of Harmony, all good things must come to an end.

"Rarity!Rarity!Rarity!" Sweetie Belle called up to her sisters room excitedly, as if she had just discovered something.

"Huh?! What!? Where's the Fire?!" Rarity called sitting straight up in her bed frantically, her Eye Mask still covering her eye's. She gently took off her mask, opening her right eye, and looked around her room for a moment "Huh? Sweetie? .... Did I just imagine that or-"

"Rarity! Rarity! Rarity! You gotta see this thing outside!" Her sister called to her again with the energy and excitement that only a little filly could have for discovering something new

Rarity sighed and slowly set off through her morning routine of combing her mane at her vanity, and applying her "before shower" make-up,  and proceeding to walk out into the hallway slowly. "Sweetie! This had better be Important! You had just woken me up from a rather nice dream about-"

"Ya ya, whatever! Just get your cutie-mark over here and look!" Sweetie said interrupting her. Rarity sighed, and continued walking downstairs before her shower, to see why it was Sweetie had woken her up.

"Alright Sweetie Belle, what was Sooo important that you had to wake me from my Beauty sleep?" Rarity asked as she approached her little sister who was staring out the window intently, her hind hooves pressed firmly against the window of the Carousel Boutique.

"Rarity, look! Look at it! Isn't it really weird looking?" Sweetie asked her sister excitedly, pointing to something outside.

"Is what interesting Sweetie?- ..... What in the name of the Equestria is THAT?" Rarity and her sister stood befuddled  by the strange object outside their home. It was rather big, but they were certain it wasn't there last night. ".... Well that wasn't there last night...." Rarity said, as she looked at it, still rather confused. It would have taken at least Twilight Sparkle to levitate it, or possibly AppleJack's older brother, Big Macintosh to possibly move the thing, judging by the size of it.

"Rarity? What is it?" Sweetie Belle asked her sister, curious about what the strange and foreign object was.

"Um... W-well... I.... I don't know Sweetie.... It appears to be a, uh.... "Police Public Call Box" of some sort.... or whatever that is...." Rarity said, looking at the strange Box across the Street from the Carousel Boutique.

The Box itself was unlike anything Rarity had ever seen before. It was very tall, and had a strange shade of Blue that not even Rarity could really even name, but was somewhere in between the color range of blue sky, and blue ocean. Possibly a mixture of both. It had a strange light on top of it, and the words "POLICE PUBLIC CALL BOX" were printed on a brightly lit sign, at the top of it, right before the roof of the strange "Police Box."

".... I honestly don't know what it is Sweetie Belle. I've never heard of a "Police Box" before... nor do I know how it got there, but I certainly know what I'm going to do." Rarity turned quickly back up the steps of the Boutique.

"Rarity Wait! ... What are you gonna do?" Sweetie Belle asked her Sister curiously, as if afraid she might do something brash.

"Oh. Well I'm going to take my shower. A Mare needs to make herself presentable before going outdoors and into the eye's of the public! Besides.... I probably have bed mane." Rarity said quickly, and then continued on her way to the shower.

Rarity appeared back downstairs later, after her two hour “Wake-up with Make-up” session, as Sweetie Belle had decided to call Rarity’s morning routine. She smiled to Sweetie Belle who had just waved goodbye to Rarity as she had gone off to school with Applebloom, and Scootaloo, on Scootaloo’s Scooter, or the “Cutie-Mark Crusader Mobile” as they had decided to call it. Sweetie Belle had told them about the strange box because Scootaloo turned to look at it, as Rarity could see, then they took off to “Go and find their Cutie-Marks” as they did every weekend. Rarity gave a forced smile, at the thought of what damage they might cause Ponyville today as they took off.... but then her attention was once again drawn to the strange box across from her Boutique.

Rarity stared at the box for some time, as if she had the strangest feeling that the box, was.... well.... She didn't know what it was really.... She couldn’t quite name it, but she just... had this feeling that there was something different about the box... as if.... As if it were something special to her.... almost as if it were....

She shook her head, to clear of the cobwebs that clouded her thoughts, and tried to talk some sense into herself since there was no one around to do it for her. “Oh come on now Rarity! It is nothing but a Box! An old, blue, Police box! Nothing special about it at all!”

She turned away and began walking to the kitchen, but slowly came to a stop. She turned her head back to the box, staring at it for a moment, unsure why, but feeling as if it were... important. Almost as important as the Elements of Harmony, and if not, even more important then them... but she didn’t know why it was so important. “ .... Or maybe, it is something more then?” She asked herself, before she continued into the kitchen, to make her tea.

Once she had her morning tea in hoof, and a pencil in the other, she sat down at her brunch table, in front of a few stacks of blank pieces of paper. “Hmm.... alright now Rarity concentrate on the clothing.... just think... Hmm....” She tried to focus on the designs she needed to make, but was coming up with the same results as before.... bupkis. After a few hours of sitting at the table, and pacing through her store, looking to past clothing articles to try and find some inspiration, she sat down at the counter, now on her fourth cup of tea. “Oh! What is wrong with me?! Ugh!” She facedesked onto the counter (although not hard enough to hurt herself) and groaned out.

Her mind began to wander about, trying to calm herself down, after all, all of this stress wasn’t good for her complexion. Her mind went to hundreds of places, like wondering what kind of trouble Sweetie would get herself into next, or what her friends were all doing.... but one thought kept coming back to her.... That Blue Box. The entire time she had been trying to focus on her designs that Box kept reappearing in her mind. No matter what she tried to think of, that box was just peeking her curiosity to it’s limit. “Oh!  I can’t take it!” She quickly got up and walked out the door of her shop, and walked up to the box’s doors.

It’s seemed like an ordinary wooden box, as if it wasn't special, or important in almost any way (besides the fact that she considered it very strange) but this only made her curiosity grow even more about the box. She just had a gut feeling that something was different about this box. The feeling was just nagging at the back of her head, as she looked the box up and down, circling it many times. She simply decided to try the door to see what was inside, but the door seemed to be locked. “What? But it says PUBLIC on it! .... So then why would it be locked?”

She looked up at the box again, her hoof holding onto the handle, as she said “What are you hiding from me? Hmm?” Rarity then searched her thoughts for the unlock spell that Twilight had shown her how to do. According to her it would unlock the simplest, and most complicated of locks. She cast the spell aiming at the door, but blue sparks began shooting out of the lock and the crack in between the doors. Rarity ended her spell immediately and dodged to the side, avoiding the sparks that shot out towards her. Then she had to cover her ear’s as the Box began emitting a loud, mechanical, yet seemingly organic noise, as the light on top began to glow brightly with the noise, growing and decreasing in brightness, as the volume of the noise.

A few moments passed, and the noise stopped. Rarity quickly got to her hooves, obviously terrified of the box, and ran back into the Boutique. “What the HAY was that!” She screamed to herself once she shut the door, and locked it tightly. She fell to her haunches, and sat there silently, trying to process exactly the events in which had just occurred, and to also see whether or not she was just going crazy.... She believed she was.

She immediately ran over to the counter picking up the pen and paper, and began to write a letter to her friend Twilight at the Library. She was too afraid to go and get her herself, and leave her shop for fear that the Box might try to attack her again if she left the safety of the shop, so she would just send it via, magic.

Dear Twilight,

If you are reading this, then please hurry over to the boutique. Something completely strange, and unnerving has occurred, and I require your assistance IMMEDIATELY! Don’t tell the others, just get here as fast as you can! I’ll explain to you when you arrive, just please hurry Twilight! This whole situation has me absolutely terrified out of my mane! I honestly don’t know-

She was interrupted by a stallion talking loudly, as he ran down the street. Rarity looked to the door, and flipped the closed sign, and hid under the counter.

“Ditzy Come on!” The chestnut coated, and brown maned stallion (a.k.a. The Doctor) shouted behind him, holding the sonic screwdriver in his mouth, which was beeping, and whizzing, and whirring loudly. “Someone’s tried to get into the TARDIS! We need to hurry!” He ran even faster now, and if his Grey coated, blonde maned, walled eyed companion didn’t have wings, she probably wouldn't have been able to keep up with him.

“But Doctor! You said no one could get into the TARDIS with the TARDIS key! You said it was like that because it was Dimensionally Transcidentally-Thingy! ... Right?” His assistant (a.k.a. Ditzy Doo/Derpy Hooves) asked him.

“Yes! That is very much true Miss Hooves! But it still doesn’t mean we should just sit back, and let someone try to break into the TARDIS now should we?- Now come on Miss Hooves!” He then saw the TARDIS, with nothing nearby, or in sight, save the Boutique that they had parked across the way.

He came up to a halt at the TARDIS doors, and studied them quickly, looking at the burn marks coming out of the lock and the crack in between the doors, made by the sparks. “Well... doesn’t seem like anything got into the TARDIS.... Seems like she was able to keep them out, whoever, or WHATever they were....” He turned to his companion, who had been looking over the rest of the TARDIS intently, searching for anything he may have missed. She landed beside him and looked at the doors for a second, then looked to him.

“Doctor... do you think we should go inside? I mean.... the only way we’re going to see if anything really DID get inside the TARDIS is if we open it up... right?” She asked him a little nervously.

“Right you are, Miss Hooves! The only way to see if anything got in.... is to go in ourselves.” He said to her as confidently as he could, then pulled the Key out of a pocket in his tie, and inserted it into the lock.

*****

Rarity, being less then 10 feet (-err.... Hooves?) away had heard their entire conversation. TARDIS? What the Hay is a TARDIS? .... Is that what that Box is?- No, wait... the better question is Who are they? I can tell one of them is a stallion and one of them is a mare.... Miss Hooves did he say? ... Derpy?! No way! .... Alright So the Mare is Derpy- Wait she called him “Doctor." Well Doctor Who? Hmm... Well Doctor Whoever you are, you have one strange box- WAIT! Did He just call his box a SHE?!- Alright that tears it! I have to see who this stallion is-

Rarity slowly got out from her hiding place under the counter, and slowly raised her head above the window, to see outside. She could see there Backs to the Boutique, but she could tell he was a Chestnut colored Stallion, with a Dark Chocolate like colored mane, and an hourglass Cutiemark on his flank. From the sounds of it his accent was one that was unfamiliar to her, but sounded very proper, like it was from one of the more northern regions of Equestria. “Huh... I wonder how Derpy got a stallion like him to go out with her...” She said quietly to herself, looking him over more. She couldn’t help but think that the stallion had indeed looked a little familiar, but from where she hadn’t the slightest....

Then she watched as the two entered the strange box, confused on how they both were able to fit into such a small thing, and watched intently for something to happen.... But for about 30 minutes afterwards nothing did. “.... Ugh! What in the name of Celestia could those two doing in that- ..... Oh....” She blushed deeply at the thought of what they might be doing, but then, at that exact moment, something even stranger happened. The Box began to flash and make it’s noise again, only this time not as nearly as ear-shattering as before. Rarity backed away from the window and watched as the Box began to fade in and out of reality, the light seeming to mimic the action, and began fading in and out of existence as well. She watched in shock and awe at it, unsure what she should do. Once the box was gone she was a little startled but she needed to be sure that it was really gone. She walked forward across the street where the box had been, and put her hoof through it to make sure it wasn’t just invisible or something. Her hoof went straight through thin air. “B-b-but.... T-t-t-thats n-not possible!” She exclaimed to no one in particular, and was in complete and utter shock.

She slowly backed away from the place where the box was her jaw hanging wide open, unsure what to say or do. She went back inside and sat down, tearing her letter to Twilight to shreds, and levitating her tea to her (although she wasn’t really concentrating very well, judging by how much her cup wobbled.) She kept her head down trying to process what in the hay just happened to her. “..... I-I-I....” She stuttered unsure what to say. “.... M-Maybe I just imagined it all! Yes! That’s it! I just imagined it all! I’m an overworked Pony, who hasn’t been able to get much sleep lately, and my mind is going a little crazy is all! Hehe.... I think.... I think I should go out for a bit.... and get away from all of this.... maybe to the spa perhaps- Oh now that sounds positively WONDERFUL right about now-” She had turned herself around, and continued talking to herself as Pinkie Pie would talk to a normal pony, going on and on and on, as she left the Boutique behind, sounding every bit like a madmare who had gone off the deep end.

*****

Rarity returned to the Boutique about 7 hours later, after doing some supply shopping, spa treatment, and a few little things to keep her mind preoccupied, and away from that incident earlier today. It had stressed her out more than the time Hoity Toity was in town, to the point where she asked the spa ponies for an "Emergency treatment" which consisted of serious muscle therapy, and a small bit of hypnosis to get her to just relax and let her mind clear of all thought.

Speaking of the Hoity incident, she had figured out where she had seen that stallion before. He was the one who had brought Hoity the cushion he sat upon at her fashion show, but no one seemed to pay much attention to him at the time, which explained why she didn’t even remember who he was until then. He was the stallion called “Time Turner” as most knew of him here, which was still few. Mostly just a blue mare with the same Cutie-Mark as him on her flank, and Applebloom who seemed to remembered selling the stallion an apple. Besides that, The stallion was a mystery.

But this being Rarity, she would have none of it, and would get to the bottom of this strange stallion, even if it meant she had to call in some reinforcements.... But that would be a last resort sort of thing, calling in her friends to help her look for a strange stallion and a disappearing box only she had seen. She didn’t want them to think she was helpless AND crazy. Hmm...

That got her thinking. Was she the only one to see it? It did seem to be a rather strange box.... sort of.... oh how to put it?... “Alien” in a way. It certainly wasn’t from anywhere she’d been to before, and she’d to quiet a few places growing up, studying the fashions of Equestria. Hmm.... well his accent was that of a more northern place, and it did sound very proper, so I can’t say for certain where he or that box of his is from.... obviously it’s been imbued with some very strong magic from the way it was shooting sparks out at me madly. Maybe I should talk to Twilight about this later. She may know a thing or two after I explain my encounter with that box and- .... She sniffed the air for a second .... What smells like something is burning? .... Oh no!

That’s when Rarity realized how long she had been gone, and that Sweetie Belle was probably trying to make her own Dinner. “SWEETIE BELLE!!!” Rarity screamed as she ran into the kitchen to see her Sister trying to cook what appeared to be a Grilled Cheese Sandwich, or.... perhaps a Burnt Brick maybe? “.... Sweetie Belle.... what are you doing?” Rarity asked kindly, a forced smile upon her face

“Oh! Well I was trying to make myself a Grilled Cheese, since you were out. I got kinda hungry when I got home, so I thought you wouldn’t mind if I made us Dinner!” She smiled presenting A small pyramid of what appeared to be Burnt Brick Sandwiches.

“Oh... I see.... Um, perhaps we should have something else tonight, hmm? I mean Grilled Bricks- err ‘Cheese’ sandwiches are so fattening, and aren't really healthy for a young filly’s diet” She said, pulling an Apple from the fridge and magically giving it to Sweetie. “Here. Why don’t you eat an apple for now, and I’ll um... Give this ‘food’ to the birds since we shouldn't waste them.” At this point she was quite happy to be dodging another one of Sweetie’s meals. She still wasn't doing too good since the last one.

“Oh... Well Alright Rarity!” Sweetie said excitedly as she walked up to her room to draw, while she ate her apple happily. Rarity sighed and set the dish of sandwiches (if you could still call them that) outback by the trashcans where Fluttershy’s animal friends could come by and get another meal if they were really that hungry (although most of them knew to stay away from the Carousel Boutique, fear of Sweetie’s cooking.)

“Alright... Now then, where was I? .... Ah! That strange Box! Yes that strange blue box.... Hmm.... blue....” Then faster then Rainbow Dash in a race, it hit her. "EUREKA! I have an Ideaaaa!~" She said in her sing song voice. She had finally been inspired!

She zoomed to her work area with speed that even Rainbow Dash would have been jealous of, and began working on designs. It seemed that her strange encounter with the box, had inspired her to design a few dresses and outfits with that strange color of blue, which seemed to be pretty fashionable considering how no one had seen it much before. She decided to call it her “Out of the Blue” collection considering how the strange box had appeared ‘out of the blue’ so to speak. Also because most of the pieces in it where similar shades of blue, or the exact same shade as the box.

*****

Rarity had worked through the night on the dresses, and outfits, as one led to another in a passion of creativity, a inspiration. Sweetie walked downstairs yawning, and hadn't even noticed the blue fabric lying all over the shop floor, or the new gowns and dresses floating around the Boutique, along with scissors, glue, needle, and other such materials. Instead she walked into the kitchen yawning still, her young eyes feeling like iron weights. “Ah! Good Morning Sweetie!” Rarity call cheerfully to the young filly, seeming to be full of creative energy, that would have made even Pinkie Jealous (You know... if she could get jealous.)

“Morning Rarity....” Sweetie deadpanned to her, not paying much attention to the state the living room she had just been through was in.

The kettle on the oven in the kitchen was ever so quietly building pressure, as the water inside was boiling for Rarity’s tea. However Sweetie wasn't interested wasn’t interested in that, instead she tried to levitate a banana down to her, but was too tired to do it. “Hey Rarity? Could you please get me a banana from the counter? I can’t reach it...”  Sweetie called to her sister, who looked around the corner to the kitchen, and smiled sweetly.

"Oh Of course Sweetie!” She levitated the filly a banana, and patted her head gently. “There! Now then- be sure to through away the peel when you’re done! I don’t want to slip on another one of those things. Thank you~” Rarity finished in a sing song voice as she went back into the living room, 6 gowns, and a few ribbons of fabric following her as she went.

Sweetie peeled her banana, and just before she was able to eat it, she eyes shot open, and the banana flew into the air, out of the peel landing somewhere else, as Sweetie’s magic squeezed the peel. She spun around, and shot off into the living room with only the energy a young filly (or Pinkie Pie) could have. Sweetie loved to see her sister at work and it amazed her how her sister could take a piece of fabric, and turn it into a lovely gown that some mare or stallion would buy at first sight. “Oh wow Rarity! What do you call this collection?” She asked her sister, bouncing up and down excitedly wondering what her sister’s creative mind came up with this time.

Rarity gave a small giggle as the filly finally noticed what she was doing, and gave her a smile. “Well Sweetie I’m still working on a name, but I thought we should call it the ‘Out of the Blue’ Collection! What do you think?” She asked her sister, making cuts into another piece of fabric.

“I LOVE IT!” She yelled giddily, breaking Rarity’s concentration causing her to drop the scissors and fabric. She looked to her younger sister and smiled, and patted her head “Hehe... Well good.”

Before she could say another word a screeching noise was heard coming from the kitchen and Rarity smiled “Ah! The Tea’s ready! Be right back Sweetie” Her sister then got up and walked into the kitchen to get her tea. Meanwhile Sweetie got up and looked over the designs on the desk and smiled happily looking them over. “Cool....” Sweetie said awestruck.

“AAAAAHHH!!!” There was a scream from the kitchen as the sound of a pony hitting the hard tile floor. Opal ran for her life up the stairs, as the pony he had realized she had just slipped on a banana peel, and it only took a second to figure out who the culprit was. “Sweetie!” Rarity yelled at the top of her lungs on the kitchen floor. Then she looked up and noticed what looked like half a Banana splattered on her ceiling and the other half threatening to fall at the vibration of the angry Ivory mare’s voice. “Oh you’ve got to be kidding- ~Splat!~”  There was a wet squishing noise as the banana fell directly onto her face. “..... SWEETIE!!!”
