The Letter
It was your typical sunny Equestrian day. The sun was bright, the sky was a beautiful lavender blue, the clouds were in all the right places. and the grass was a gorgeous vibrant green. Everypony was out and about in Ponyville with large beaming smiles on their faces. All ponies that is, except one.
Rainbow Dash sat down on her haunches and unfolded the letter she had written for Fluttershy, so she could proof read it again. She went over every word again and again checking for any error. She felt like it just wasn't good enough for Fluttershy, but it had to do. She began to read it again, but only this time she allowed herself to delve deeper into the letter and mentally read along. Not just proof reading or skimming. She actually read it.
Dear Fluttershy,
You know I'm not good at this mushy stuff. I was always the one to just rush into things, but when you and I were together things were different. I finally had a reason to stop and think what might happen if something were to happen to me. I had finally had something to fear (besides that dream I had of Pinkie Pie and cupcakes). I was afraid of losing you. I was terrified at the thought of you leaving, but things are different now since you're gone. Sure it hurt when you left. It felt like somepony had ripped my heart out and stomped it. Like it was apple bucking season and my heart was the tree, but after awhile things seemed to start to return to normal again.
It has been a while since I last heard your voice. I used to hear it every night in my dreams. A distant reminder of how things used to be. When we were still together I would always complain about how I gave up my dream of being a Wonderbolt so we could be together, and you would just take it. I'm sorry now for that, but as usual it's I'm a little to late with my apology. If I had ever hurt you I'm sorry, and I swear by Celestia that I never meant to do it.
I wanted to let you know how our friends are doing these days. As you may know, Twilight now rules Equestria since the Princesses Celestia and Luna stepped down. Spike is still working with her too last I heard. I guess she's doing a pretty good job, for an egghead. She just started a new policy that everypony had to read at least one book a month. What's up with that?
Rarity now has her own fashion line and tours all over Equestria. Her clothing is to flashy for me, but I guess its alright. She just made a new dress for Twilight for the Grand Galloping Gala. She sent one to me and Twilight invited me to go to the Gala, but I refused because it reminded me of the time when you busted through the door.
"YOU WILL LOVE ME!", you shouted to all of the animals.
The looks on the faces of all those hoity toity rich ponies was priceless. I will never forget that day Fluttershy.
Applejack is now in control of one of the largest farming corporations in all of Equestria. She and Big Mac still work at Sweet Apple Acres even though they have enough gold bits to retire. She still races me from time to time, and I still let her win from time to time. She says that it's all skill, but come on! I'm still the fastest pony in Equestria.
Pinkie Pie is still the same old Pinkie Pie. She still comes to visit me every once in a while in one of her crazy flying machines. I heard that the last Grand Galloping Gala was planned by her. I'm almost sorry that I missed it. She still throws parties for all the ponies in Ponyville, also. No pony throws a party like Pinkie Pie.
And what about me? Well I mostly stay at home and think of you. I also think about how things could have been different, like what if I did join the Wonderbolts. I wouldn't have this gut wrenching pain that I do now. I do occasionally ask myself if I could would I do it all again.
Yes, yes I would. The time I got to spend with you was the best time of my life. IT WAS AWESOME! I mean I know I'm cool and all, but having you in my life as my marefriend made my life 20,000% cooler. I wish I could go back and redo everything all over again. I wish that it didn't have to end so soon, but I know that one day I will hear your voice again. I will get to see you again, and I'll get to hold and kiss you again, but until that day I have to get by with the memories we have made.

Rainbow Dash picked up her letter and flew down to Fluttershy's cottage, but when she got there she didn't knock on the door or enter. Instead she walked around to the back yard. She walked over to the tree where Fluttershy had tried to convince her a few years earlier to take the fabulous pet squirrelly, but not just any squirrel, a flying squirrel as her pet. Rainbow Dash chuckled at the memory. She sat the letter down next to the cross, fell to the ground, and began to weep. She slowly stood up, wiped away the tears, and began to leave. She turned around as another tear filled her eye, and a small smile appeared on her face as more memories of their love came flooding back to her,
"Thanks for sharing your life with me Shy. I will always love you."
