The History of Crimson Shadow and the Origins of the Past
Chapter 6
Previous ChapterNext ChapterWhen I saw Celestia, she did not seem as scared as she was before. Something within her changed. And not for the better I assumed as she had a very serious attitude about her. More than usual. She was even clad in special armor that held the Elements in place; most likely created from one of the many books we had brought back from the the old castle. This was truly the fight between a monster and a warrior princess. By all things good, this was going to get intense.
Shadowbane made the first move that Celestia blocked, barely. So much happened in such a short amount of time, I can not even tell you everything I saw. It was both amazing and fearful; The sheer power these two ponies held. It was astounding. I recall Shadowbane taunting Celestia with the death of her father. Something along him saying that he killed him. This really got Celestia fumed. This must have been what Shadowbane meant when he said it was good to see her again. Was it really true, though? Did Shadowbane kill Celestia's father? And if so, which of my ancestors did it.
I remember not how long the battle ensued but I do remember something horrible that happened during it. Old Starswirl was caught as collateral damage and was severely wounded. I grew angry with Shadowbane now. This anger he fed on and grew even more powerful. I knew now how he was so strong. All that hate I had building up inside me. All that anger I had towards Celestia before, and now him.
I tried filling my mind with thoughts of Luna and my love for her, hoping that would do something. And sure enough it did. Shadowbane slowly grew weaker the more I thought of the good times I had with her. This angered him greatly and he told me to stop, but only my anger fed his power, not his own. The more power he lost, the more Shadowbane shrunk in size till he was back to how small I was before he first took me over. This was when Celestia made her move and shot a beam of pure light at us, catching us square in the face and knocking us into a wall. I have never felt more pain than I did that day.
In his weakened state Shadowbane could not even stand. He looked upon his defeater and said, "Keep thine eyes upon the moon, for in a thousand years, the stars will help aid the return of thou's sister. When Nightmare Moon returns, that will be the sign for Our return as well. All of those you have imprisoned will return and thou will be too weak to stop any of it from coming to fruition. Be warned...thou are only postponing the inevitable. We will rise again and destroy this land you so sought to protect." We were promptly knocked out by another blast of energy and both locked away in a prison made from solid light so we could not break out. That is where we remain today. I almost do not know who is even listening to this story. Am I telling it to myself simply to make sure I am still sane? No one else is around, so I guess this story was in vain.
There was once an old prophecy that I remember reading about. It said, "All seeds sown in the land will be tested when He who is shrouded in Darkness takes the land and drowns everypony in Equestria in complete evil. Only then will She of the Light save the land, but at the cost of a precious life dearest to the princesses." I've aways wondered what exactly that meant. Who exactly is it talking about, and who is it meant for? I can only guess that Shadowbane is the one of darkness....but who is 'She of the Light'? Could it be talking about....No It can't be. I remember reading that her line was broken millenia before I was born. But if my hunch is correct...She may very well still secretly be alive. I just hope Shadowbane does not find out who she is before this poor mare comes of age.
Ponydom is it's own worse enemy. Times may have changed but sadly nothing remains consistent. This must be remembered for those nice ones like myself to try and transcend above all the problems thrown in in rapid succession. ALL. THE. PROBLEMS. If you think I am lying, or not telling the whole story, then it is because you do not know the true story yourself. Simply seek out the Journal. It will tell you the whole truth....
