My Little Crystal: Love is Magic
A Royal Discussion
Load Full StoryNext Chapter"Twinkling Glass!" A soft voice called.
"Just a minute!" Twinkling Glass called. Shit. Today was a meeting with her and the royal family. Quickly using a spell to slide her mane into a pony tail, the glass pony stumbled down the steps, before answering the door of her private library-- her own room in the Crystal Palace. Opening the door, she saw Effervescent, a light orange pony, tapping her hoof impatiently. She was a former Canterlot pony, with a clipboard levitating in front of her, along with a pencil. Scribbling blurred words onto the paper, the assistant of Princess Cadance herself let out a tsk tsk.
"I don't have time, you're go-" Eff looked up and gasped. "Twinkling Glass! I know you might be close to Cadance, but I'd never expect for you to arrive to meet the rest of her royal family in attire like... that!"
Twinkling Glass looked down. She was dressed in her normal "outfit", which was simply her naked. Unlike most ponies, however, she had a pair of shoes often seen on Celestia. Instead of the gold ones, she had a pair of silver, to prevent chips on her hooves from her horrible balance.
"Eff, you know me well enough that I go as my regular self. Unlike you, I don't care how people see me like this. This is regularly me. If you couldn't tell, I put up my mane. I taught myself that spell." Twinkling Glass grinned.
"It is Effervescent, not *Eff." She nearly spat the last words. "Come, now, the royal family is awaiting. Princess Twilight Sparkle is there. She *is Princess Cadence's sister in law, so you'll be in the presence of two princesses, so behave yourself.**"
"Twilight Sparkle? I've seen her in pictures, but I have yet to meet her. I am pretty close to Shining Armor though, he's pretty cool, so his sister has to be." The young pony smiled at Effervescent, who was easily seven or eight years older than her. Effervescent had a disappointed, exasperated look on her face.
"Did the Princess ever tell you what this meeting was about?"
"Actually, no, but I have some matters to discuss with her about Mirrorville. She's visiting ther-"
"If you don't mind, that is where you're going first. You're leaving the Crystal Empire."
"Effervesce-"
"We're here! Go in, go in. I'll see you at the end of the meeting."
The peach-colored pony nudged the unicorn into the room, Twinkling Glass stared at her friend who didn't exactly like her back. "Effie, wait!" Twinkling Glass could only watch as the big, ice door swung closed right in her face. Gulping, she turned to face the group of twenty ponies that sat at the table behind her.
My Little Crystal
I used to wonder what life could be
until I found the true magic in me.
Big city, tons of fun
a crazy day, but I still stand strong
Saving royalty, it's not an easy feat
but the whole team makes it all complete
you have My Little Crystal
You all are spectacular friends
The aquamarine crystal pony looked at her audience. Twenty ponies? There were supposed to be twenty ponies, not nineteen. With a sudden lurch in her stomach, Twinkling Glass realized that she was the twentieth pony.
After a few minutes of silence, a familiar voice greeted Twinkling Glass.
"Oh, Twinkling Glass! I'm so glad you're here! I thought you caught a virus or something along those lines! It seems that I might have been mislead. " The pink alicorn smiled at her student. "Why don't you take a seat next to Twilight Sparkle?"
With wobbly knees and hooves that felt like they had weights in them, Twinkling Glass feebly nodded and stumbled over to sit in the only empty seat next to the lavender alicorn. Feeling the stare of Twilight Sparkle on her, Twinkling Glass tried not to hyperventilate. The young crystal pony hated being anywhere near the center of attention. Realizing most ponies were staring at her, she began to hear her breaths come more rapidly. They weren't staring-- they were glaring at the pupil of Cadance herself!
"Sugarcube, are you okay?" The comforting voice came from an orange pony who had... apples... for a cutie mark.
Nodding slowly, Twinkling Glass choked out a reply. "Y-yes, Miss." The pony looked strangely familiar. Was she the one in that portrait with Cadance and Twilight, along with four other ponies? Evening out her breath, Twink kept the same thought repeating in her head. It's okay. It's okay. It's okay. You're okay.
"Let's begin!" Cadance said, gleefully, tapping her hooves together. "Everybody, the papers we will need to begin are in the pink folder I sent to all of you."
Papers? What papers? You never heard anything about papers? Wait, maybe you did, you just left them on the... table.
"Tw-" Cadance turned to Twinking Glass once again, but before she could say anything, a turquoise aura of magic appeared on the Crystal Pony's horn, and the papers were suddenly on the table.
"Nice save." A cyan pony nudged Twinkling Glass with an approving face. Her rainbow mane really needed to be brushed. She looked like she was in the picture with Cadance too, but that couldn't be. Cadance said those were the Elements of Harmony with her. Only Twilight was an Element of Harmony. Right? Twinkling Glass was still learning modern history. Cadance had decided to go really in depth over the past few years in ancient Equestrian history, along with the pre-Sombra stage of the Crystal Empire, hundreds of years ago. It was pretty interesting.
Yet, modern history wasn't needed for Twinkling Glass. She didn't have to worry about being flustered for not knowing the details-- she rarely left the Crystal Palace, and was incredibly anti-social.
"Twilight Sparkle." Cadance smiled at her sister in law. "We discussed this, would you like to tell everybody what we discussed?"
The princess nodded, happily, before finding a paper with several tedious-looking paragraphs printed upon them. "I am here on the behalf of Celestia, who is in Saddle Arabia with her sister Princess Luna. They are discussing private matters that I cannot repeat in here. We are worried about..."
Twinkling Glass simply lost interest at this point, gazing down at her hooves. Several minutes later, the cyan pony next to her nudged her out of her daze, obviously knowing something that Twinkling didn't.
"...and so, due to these rapidly appearing crystal towns, we have decided to move the Crystal Heart celebration to one of these crystal places in an attempt to make peace. Troops will be everywhere-- It's still Equestrian territory, but the outskirts, and these crystal ponies that occupy the town are fairly rebellious, three have been put in jail temporarily for assaulting a group of the Royal Guard unsuccessfully, but they have made their point. That was just this week, there have been many more convicts. We have decided to send ambassadors to each of these towns, official ambassadors who now have a place in the Equestrian government.
In the town of Terra Mannis, we are sending out Rainbow Dash, one of the elite former members of the Elite Royal Guard. This was a suggestion from myself, approved by Celestia herself.
In the town of Equis, we have Applejack. Applejack's honesty should keep them calm, and earn their trust with her honesty.
And finally, in the town of Mirrorville, where we have decided to hold the Crystal Heart ceremony, the ambassador will be Twinkling Glass."
Twinkling Glass was baffled. The unicorn was now an unofficial sector of the Crystal Empire government? What?
"WHAT?!" An outraged voice came from across the table. It had a stuck up accent. The male himself looked stuck up. Twilight Sparkle froze, and quickly wrote something down on a sticky note, handing it under the table to Twinkling Glass, who fumbled with it, just managing not to drop it. Looking at it, a somewhat messy, somewhat neat rushed handwriting was upon it.
That's Blueblood, my friend Rarity's ex-husband. Show him up with magic.
'Show him up with magic'? A Princess wanted a mere student to show up royalty and make the horse look like a buffoon?
"You heard her." Twinkling Glass's voice was quiet, but instantly the room became silent, looking at the aquamarine pony.
"Pardon?" Blueblood asked, a dark tone to his voice.
"She said my name. These choices were approved by Celestia and Cadance, so I have to be worth something. Blood isn't everything."
"Yet blood is something." Blueblood asked, annoyed with this female already. Dusty blue sparks were appearing at the top of his horn, showing that he had to channel magic using magic-- a very inefficient way. Twinkling Glass could already tell who was the expert here.
"Cadance?" A light yellow pony asked urgently.
Cadance raised a hoof to the yellow pony, an intrigued look in her eyes. It was obvious most of the ponies here did not like Blueblood at all.
"You want to go?" Glass pushed a strand of electric blue hair out of her eyes. Channeling energy, she felt adrenaline rush through her. Blueblood glanced around, biting his lip. He had expected Twinkling to back down by now. Turning towards her, he let out a predictable beam of blue magic, meanwhile Twinkling sent out one of her own, a brilliant violet stream of fury, much larger than Blueblood's, colliding with his and soon powering over his. A purple aura instantly covered Blueblood, thrusting him into the air, leaving him surrounded by the purple and levitating.
Flailing, the "prince" hadn't expected to be so easily overpowered. "Uncle! I surrender! I give up!" He cried, dramatically, not realizing that harm wouldn't come from him. Sucking in her magic back to her abruptly, the white stallion fell with a thud onto the white table, scrambling back over to his seats, a bright red blush on his face.
"Does anybody have any questions?" The electric-blue maned pony grinned. The ten ponies sent nasty glares at her from across the table, the ten on Twinkling Glass's side sending her relieved looks. Clearing her throat, Cadance got everypony's attention.
"Blueblood, you don't always have to be so defiant of who has royal blood or not. The princesses themselves never had any actual children that we know of, so nobody has pure royal blood running through their veins." Cadance smiled, but it was obvious she didn't like the prince for his snobbish ways.
"I also have a few arrangements myself." Cadance neighed. "Fluttershy, you and Rarity can stay at the palace, as your two friends will be gone. Pinkie Pie, I am expecting you to stay in Canterlot with Twilight Sparkle, just so she doesn't loose contact with all of her friends. Rarity, I believe you know the simple spell to send messages?" She turned to the white mare.
"Why, of course!" Rarity nodded.
"You two groups can exchange messages fairly quickly. Meanwhile, Applejack and Rainbow Dash, you'll have to send them in the mail, which will take a few more hours than their skills."
The two ponies nodded.
"I believe that covers everything. Meeting dismissed!"
