Mint woke up late in the afternoon. Her mane was tossed in a mess around her face and her eye lids were still heavy. She had a habit of staying up into the late hours of the night, so it was rare to see her up in the wee hours of the morning. It was a good life where she didn't have to worry. The money poured in from clients, paying for all her needs.
She lived in a large modernized castle suited to fit her needs. Not only did it feature custom pet holding cells, her large sleeping chambers, and the strongest safe money could buy but it was filled with the most loyal staff money for buy: gourmet chefs, maids, and pet care workers. All she had to do was train the pets that came flowing in. It was quite the life.
The mint colored mistress slowly climbed out of bed one hoof at a time. She moved herself over to the mirror, which stood almost the full length of the wall. Flipping her head, she tossed the majority of her long hair out of her face. 'Beautiful as always,' she thought to herself, though you could tell the years were getting to her.
It took one click of a button to summon her dressing servant, a pastel orange unicorn with a short chopped mane and tail. The unicorn wore the full body suit that all her workers wore. A comfy grey body suit that covered their cutie marks, leaving their identity secret. But she knew it was Star Bright, her most faithful student and childhood friend. She knew the stallion wore a silver star cutie mark, but she also knew he had grown to hate the stars. And as he grew closer and closer to Mintie, she became his shining star.
The colt trotted in happily. "Good morning Mintie!" he chimed "How did you sleep last night?"
"Very well actually. A little worried about the new arrival. He seems a little...." she struggled to find the word.
The unicorn lifted the brush up with her magic, slowly brushing Mint's hair as they talked. "Stubborn? Resisting?"
"No, more than that. I've dealt with plenty kinds of stubborn. This is different. He resists not because of his pride, but because of previous training. That will be harder to break."
"Well, he did train under the royal guard." The bun in her hair was already finished so he focused his attention to the back of Mint, admiring her tight but large hindquarters as he brushed out the tail. "I'm sure you'll send him back to his wife properly trained for the bedroom, you always do."
"You're right. What would I do without you Star Bright."
Star Bright finished the tail and hovered Mint's favorite socks over to her. She stepped into each one and Star helped to even out all the wrinkles with his magic. Mint couldn't help but admire her figure one more time before she stepped out of her room.
Neither could Star Bright.
Mint walked down the corridor at an even pace, careful to walk with the grace she always displayed. Star Bright followed her, watching every step as her rear jiggled and her tail bounced. He had to admit, he was very fond of his employer, but most of the employees were. He was different though, he grew up with her. He knew the mare inside the charade. He loved her for her.
"Star Bright, what did the chef prepare today?" she asked him kindly.
"Oh, you're going to love this! The chef made your favorite, french toast!" he excitedly told her. He couldn't help but be excited at anything that would make her happy.
She trotted a little bit, squealing happily.
After that Star Bright had to practically run if he was going to keep up with her. She rushed her pace, eager to get to the dining hall and have her favorite meal.
The pair sat together eating the meal, though Star Bright was very careful to let Mint take the first bite. They chatted most of the meal. Star Bright enjoyed every second he got with her.
Breakfast can't last forever though. And the mistress was soon off by herself, moving to the pet keeping wing of the castle. It features special plumbing, an automatic cleaning system, and even feeding tubes. She had designed it herself to keep the system moving smoothly, even when she wasn't there.
The first cells she passed were the first class cells. These were for the best pets, usually the ones that she owned all to herself. These pets had finished their training, were well behaved, and dedicated completely to their mistress. They were always fed the best, had the best accommodations, and even had a window to open to say hello to their mistress as she passed by.
The second row of cells were a little bit more dingy. These were for the second class pets. These pets were the ones that were here for her business or didn't like listening. These pets had food similar to kibble and were treated more like pets. They slept on cots and didn't get socialized as much as the first class pets. These pets had to earn their rewards. It wasn't that bad though. They always had access to health care and clean water. And actually was more caring than most Equestrian prisons.
Cell Row Three was the worst row. This was for especially resistant pets. Pets that didn't want to be pets. This was the majority of intake pets she got from clients. It featured boyfriends and husbands that wouldn't sub to their partner. The mares paid the mistress to train their stallions to be not a pet, but a submissive loving boyfriend. It was expensive but it was easy enough to afford in this economy. She got a lot of clients from Canterlot and the Crystal Empire. Even the pretty princess from the Crystal Empire had paid her to turn her husband into a loving push over.
And as Mistress Mint approached her newest high-priority assignment, she knew she was in for a rough day. The pony would resist, but she'd never stepped aside before. She would win.
