She is as average as you & me, or anypony else really. Brought into this world by a caring earth pony mother and a courageous pegasus father who met through the royal guards. She was taught to be humble & shy, a little too shy for her parents had sheltered her and showed gentleness to her.

Even though their work required them to be loud & speak at the top of their voice, they kept their voices low around their sweet daughter. They built themselves a home on the ground not too far from the village known as Ponyville even though her father wanted to live in the clouds. And earth ponies just couldn't fly which complicated the relationship with her mother, and her father’s love proved stronger than his desire to stay in the clouds so they stayed on the ground.

While she grew into fillyhood, her father took her out in his sparest of time to see the world and teach her how to fly. But as he did so all she could truly do is flutter at first and was extremely shy to show her real talent at it giving her the name of Fluttershy.When her mother was free during her spare time she used to take Fluttershy out into the forest teaching her how to appreciate the nature around her & how to become friendly with even the scariest of animals.

For days being together with her family Fluttershy was happy always smiling, & staying between her parents till a letter came asking both of her parents to come serve in the Royal Guard in the far Griffin Lands to handle rising disputes. Knowing however they would be leaving their precious daughter they promised her that while they were away they would have every bit for their service sent to her in their cottage, and they would write her whenever they could and with that they gave a kiss goodbye to her & left.

Months passed since her parents departure while Fluttershy sat quietly at her cottage learning to make her own food, and befriend every animal that passed by her cottage, and with her stopping by the Ponyville local market whenever bits came to her before she received the first letter from her parents from her local deliverymare. With cheer in her heart she opened it to read.

"To Our Dearest Fluttershy:

We are happy to serve within the Royal Guards always protecting the light of Celestia & you. Even though we are far away we are always thinking of you, and have found the most interesting of things to bring back to you with your mother eyeing something you may love for when we return.

From Your Parents, Our Dearest Little Fluttershy"

With tears running down her face knowing her parents were safe and had kept their promise to write letters to her Fluttershy once again sat quiet and waited for the next letter to come.

It was a week before the deliverymare came again & gave Fluttershy an extraordinary gift. A long green dress that was too big for her to wear along with a small white letter from her father. Cheering with glee Fluttershy took the gifts and thanked the deliverymare before she locked herself back in her home with her opening the letter.

"To Our Dearest Fluttershy

It looks like our stay in the Griffin Lands are about to come to an end. And to celebrate early your mother delivered this perfect dress for you to wear when you are old enough to attend the Galloping Gala, or any other formal occasion. We hope you enjoy the early present.

From Your Parents Our Dearest Little Fluttershy"

Crying the tears of joy now from the dress given to her & the return of her parents early Fluttershy told herself that she could wait a little longer, for when her parents return they would be a whole family again.

Time passed & Fluttershy waited, and waited watching time pass, but instead of her parents coming it was once again the deliverymare who came to her with another letter which she took ready to read it with hope.

"To Our Dearest Little Fluttershy

This is your father writing. I am sorry to keep you waiting for us to return, but won't be able to return as fast as we hoped due to issues in the Griffin Lands. But don't you worry we will be home within a month."

From Your Parents"

A little saddened by the new news about her parents Fluttershy quickly cheered herself up because they had wrote to her like they promised they would. A month soon passed & Fluttershy waited full of cheer & delight that her parents would come and knock on her door. And she was right as there was a knock on her cottage door, and with that all the emotions of a small filly who hadn’t seen her parents in months & survived on her own she flung open the door.

But instead of her parents standing in front of her it was once again the friendly deliverymare who had dropped her parents bit payments, gifts, and letters off with another letter for Fluttershy. Putting on a smile Fluttershy took the letter ready now to read about anything from it as it was from her parents.

"To Our Dearest Fluttershy

We are sorry we aren't able to come home right now, but we will be home in a week now. It seems our call in the Griffin Lands has escalated within it's capital city for a few days with several griffins gathering around in large pro- crowds about changes in the government. But don't you worry we will be perfectly fine & can't wait to see you again.

From Your Parents."

Having waited for a very long time to see them again Fluttershy thought she could wait a little longer for their return & she did. On the day Fluttershy's parents were to return Fluttershy waited patiently at her cottage door until she heard a knock. In an instant she opened the door with a smile on her face happy to see her parents but it wasn't them.

Standing in front of her wasn't the friendly deliverymare, her father, or her mother but an unknown royal guardspony who bore a face of dread, and on his back were the helmets of two guards and patches along with one letter.

Opening his mouth the guard said only:

"I am sorry for your loss. For Celestia & Country I commend the actions of these guards and pass their belongings of the guard to the next of their kin."

Not saying a word Fluttershy came to a realization about something, something she never truly thought would ever happen to her. She came to the thought of her parents never coming back, and with that Fluttershy broke down crying in front of the guardspony who simply put down the items in front of her & left.

Crying, and crying Fluttershy grabbed all the items that belonged to her parents holding onto them with her hooves. And with feeling of despair running rampant in her heart she opened the last letter from her parents reading.

"To Our Dearest Little Fluttershy

If you are reading this then we are sorry. We are sorry that we left you all alone making you wait for us to return. We are sorry that we couldn't have been there to watch you grow up into a beautiful pegasus. But there is something we want to tell you in this last letter.

No matter where you are or what you do. We will always love you Our Dearest Little Fluttershy. Even though we can never come back to you."
