It was a dark, damp cave. Luna awoke to the scratching of something against the cold, solid rock beneath where she lay. Something of disharmony and chaos. Someone. The princess of the night quickly scrambled onto her hooves and into the shadows. She felt the presence of a creature of fear and hatred and heard the noise come closer to the place where she hid in the shadows. Soon it was right in front of her. She realized who it was immediately. Discord, the bringer of fear and disharmony, the very magic that had caused her beloved subjects so much pain and suffering. Not to mention Luna's own sister, Tia. She wanted to face him in a battle, but something held her back. Luna’s left foreleg had a large slash on the side, and one of her wings was badly damaged. Looking around, she saw a trail of blood that led into her hiding place.......into a trap. She new that Discord would soon find the trail of blood, and she would have her backed into a wall were she could not escape. That was when the Alicorn learned of her fate. Though still young, the princess of the night new she had to do this for her subjects, for her deceased parents, and beloved sister, Princess Celestia.
The mare looked around nervously for an exit, and found nothing. Suddenly, she saw the slightest bit of sunshine creep into what she thought was a cave and onto the ground from a few boulders. An exit. Almost immediately, the place she now called a prison went dark, and she felt the creature of chaos upon her. She looked up, surprised to see Discord standing before her, grinning. “Well, well, what do we have here? Another pony still lives?”
“I was wondering the same thing about you” Luna croaked “I thought you were in Canterlot, causing trouble. Have my subjects really not taken a stand yet?”
“You and me both know that will never happen” Discord said with a smirk “their all cowering in their homes, afraid to even open their doors, for fear that I’ll prank them” He started to laugh, a horrible one that made the mountains shake, and forced the birds to take flight. “Oops”, he said while covering his smiling face.
Luna snapped back “Your ‘pranks’ are killing all three tribes! You must stop this madness at once! Or I will.........", she stepped back, knowing what was coming next. “You will what? Throw me in a dungeon and bring me to my knees, begging for mercy?”, Discord exclaimed as he burst out into uncontrollable laughing. Luna was starting to feel woozy from her loss of blood and the sound of pure evil in her ears.
"Enough!" Luna screamed. The god of chaos continued to laugh, mocking her with words of hatred . Just then, Luna saw the light shine through the boulders as if it were the last ray of existing sunshine. Then it went out.
"That's it!" Luna thought. "Wait for the light to show me the way." Once again the ray of sunlight returned, this time with the wind and small chirps of birds. Discord stopped laughing. He turned to the boulders and sighed. "You stay here, and don't even think of escaping. A barrier will only block your path." He sighed once more, then went on, "I have to go deal with the pony turning the animals back to normal." The creature snapped his fingers and vanished into-- what was now-- the night. Luna took a step forward and almost fell. She was to weak to perform a healing spell. Another step, this time feeling more confident. The light returned, guiding her towards the small crack. After reaching the boulders, she pushed them with all her might. They didn't budge. Again, not moving one inch. Just as she was about to give up, something started to feel... odd. Like a rumbling of some sort. Luna realized what it was immediately. "An earthquake", she whispered. Looking up in horror, the princess of the night realized it was not an earthquake, but a skyquake.
Skyquake? Puzzled, she remembered the source of the odd ''pranks'' as Discord called them. Pure chaos. Suddenly, she glanced up only to see the ceiling shake and several large rocks come crashing down, revealing a barrier made up of all the colors Luna could imagine reaching the tree tops. Beyond that, was an ink black sky where the sun and moon rotated in similar patterns instead of slowly rising and setting. Cotton candy clouds accompanied them, playfully dancing across the sky, poring chocolate milk on sun withered crops. The river was now frozen, and Ponies from all three tribes, earth, pegasi, and unicorns were struggling to stay upright on the ice rink, others tumbling on candy canes, which used to be tree roots sticking out of the ground. Luna stared at her subjects in dismay. "how...?" The princess questioned to herself "How did this happen?"
"Beautiful, isn't it?" a voice came out of nowhere "Pure chaos fills the land with fear and disorder!" He laughed, cruel and deep, and added "but if only I had someone to share it with." Discord smiled at her, saying "Luna, I give you the honor of being my queen, and one of the rulers of chaos."
Luna stared at him in disbelief, anger brewing inside. "Just think about it" Discord whispered "all the dark power you want."
She saw this as a chance to use him. "Only if you take the barrier down first." She ordered "then I will be your queen."
Discord was silent. "Very well" With a snap of his fingers, the barrier fell to Pieces, leaving nothing but dust. The princess raced for the castle... which was practically in ruins.....her left foreleg in unbearable pain. But Discord was too fast. He easily caught up to her and whispered "I've got you now."
