//-------------------------------------------------------// The Final Setting of the Tyrannical Sun -by EclipticShadow- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// The Final Setting of the Tyrannical Sun //-------------------------------------------------------// The Final Setting of the Tyrannical Sun Ask not the sun, why she sets. Why she shrouds her light away. Or why she hides her glowing gaze. When night turns crimson gold to grey. In a field below Canterlot, an enormous battle rages. Two armies clash as they fight tooth and nail, under a darkened sky and an eclipse. The first army, dressed is gleaming gold armor, is the Solar Empire's Elite Royal Guard. The best and brightest of the Solar Empires battle hardened troops. Fighting in rigid, block formations, the S.E.E.R.G. hold off a vicious siege of Canterlot, a siege by the second army. The New Lunar Republic. The slightly inexperienced troops of the NLR fight in small groups using superior mobility and versatility to swarm and harass the Solar troops. As the battle rages to occurs to both side that the battle is equally matched. The Solar ponies, with their experience and weaponry, could not over come the Lunar ponies, with their superior tactics and numbers, and the Lunar could not over come the Solars. For Silent falls the guilty sun, as day to dark does turn. One simple truth she dare not speak, her light can only blind and burn. Celestia, princess of Equestria and sole ruler of the Solar Empire, falls through the air. Her wings, to weak to hold her, flap uselessly in the wind. Her face, the purest image of sorrow, regret, and pain. Blood, emitted from a solitary stab wound, trail the princesses decent. Her eyes glaze over, as she tucks in her wings, increasing her rate of decent. Seconds before she meets her violent end, she sheds one tear. A tear that comes with the knowledge that everything she has fought, her power, her empire, her ideals, her Sun; were about to meet their end. That with her death, came the death of her empire, and the final setting of her glorious sun. No mercy for the beauty. Bring down their lying sun. Blood so silver black by night, upon their faces pale white. Princess Luna strode through the halls of the palace she once called home. Flanked by her two most loyal followers, Ecliptic Shadow and Shrouded Shadow, the princess makes her way towards the top of the palace, her sisters private quarters. The castle was empty. All of the ponies were either hiding in the city, or on the fields below fighting. This left the palace in an unnatural and unsettling silence. The only thing that could be heard was the sound of the ponies hooves on the mosaic tile floor and the distant sounds of a epic battle. Celestia is standing on her balcony, over look the battle below. Although the battle is currently dead locked, she knows that her armies will succeed. They were the best soldiers in Equestria. Next to her stands her two most subjects and friends, Shining Armor, the Captain of the Royal Guard and General of the Solar Empire, and Twilight Sparkle, Her personal student and the most powerful unicorn the Solar Empire had. Unbeknownst to Celestia, Shining, and Twilight; Luna, Ecliptic, and Shrouded, had entered the room behind them and where standing in the entrance of the balcony. With no words spoken and with no warning the three Lunar ponies advance the short distance to the solar ponies. Shrouded Shadow raises his sword with his crimson red magic and plunges it into Shining Armor, causing him to scream in pain for an instant and then fall silent. Simultaneously, Ecliptic Shadow blasts Twilight Sparkle with a blast of dark magic, incinerating the purple unicorn in a flash of light and heat. Celestia turns around quickly and stares in disbelief and fear as she realizes that, not only were her most trusted friends just slain next to her, but her worst foe, her greatest enemy, and her only sister was now standing before her; staring into her eyes with a burning hatred that had no equal of measure. With no words Luna lunges forward and plunges her long horn into Celestia's chest. Celestia's eyes shoot open and her mouth opens in a silent scream. Luna pulls her horn out and takes a final look at her sister. Her eyes water in pain as a single drop of blood falls from the corner of Celestia's mouth. With one final strike Luna kicks Celestia off the edge of the balcony sending her careening through the air. Cruel moon, bring the end. The dawn will never rise again. The field of battle goes quite as the sun not only begins to set, but fade. As it reaches the horizon it extinguishes completely. And the only light left is the soft silver gleam of the moon. The Solar ponies see now that they have failed. That the glorious alicorn that they fought for was defeated. With this realization the Solar ponies lay down their weapons and submit to the Lunar Army. The war was over. They had lost, and Night Eternal would rule over Equestria forever. Luna exited the palace. As she walked away she looked back at the castle. It was a shrine to the Solar Empires rule. A symbol of its power and its glory. This was something that she could not let stand to inspire future uprisings and rebels. Luna turned her head to Ecliptic Shadow. "Make sure that nothing of this place is left standing," Luna says simply as she walks away. Ecliptic looks and Shrouded Shadow. They nod to each other turn to face the castle. Their horns grow with magic, Ecliptics pitch black, Shrouded's  crimson red. Together they send blast after blast of magical energy, crackling with destructive power, flying toward the castle. In a matter of hours, not a single brick will be left. Luna walks off into her now ever lasting night feeling happy, fulfilled, and tired. Tired of fighting, of battle, and of war. As she walks little does she know, a pair of eyes is watching her. A bright green pair of eyes. In the darkness a small female giggle can be heard, and then, silence.
