Chapter 1
The team
*BLAMMM*     The sound of my shotgun cut through the air as I watch the head of a brute exploded into a river of sticky blood and brains that sprayed all over my face.  I lifted up my hoof to wipe off the sticky mess.  I look to the rest of my team to see if they were ok. Rainbow dash suddenly came racing down towards us.  She landed in front of me trying to catch her breath, but she was able to say that she had found a safe place to take shelter.  We all began to gallop as fast as we could, following Rainbow dash through the empty streets of Canterlot.  We finally arrived the shelter, and we all ran in. Rainbow dash quickly shut the door behind us and bolted it shut.  We all fell to the floor trying to catch our breath; Twilight stood up and asked if we were all ok.  Everyone replied with a weak yes.  I clumsily got up to my  feet and walked around the house looking for a place to lay down. I found a couch in the upstairs hallway and  I plopped myself right onto it.  I looked up to see the rest of the team walking into the room also looking for somewhere to lay down.
There were a total of six of us including me; Twilight is the leader of the team.  She calls all the shots and pretty much just tells us what to do. She’s a pretty good shot with a gun and not to bad in a hoof fight. Rarity was what we called the "team tailor", she makes body amour for us out of all the scraps she can find.  she’s practically worthless in hoof fight but if she needs, she knows how to use a gun and she and is not afraid to use it.  Our team demolitions expert is pinkie pie.  She makes and handles all the explosive equipment. She is not too bad in a hoof fight, and whenever you’re in weapons range of her.  You had better hope you’re not her intended target.  Fluttershy was our team medic;   She like Rarity was worthless in a hoof fight but she is the medic and doesn’t do any fighting unless she absolutely has too.  Then there was Rainbow dash.  I was closer to her than to any other pony.  I also developed a small crush for her, but anyway she was the team scout.  She would go ahead of us to see how dangerous an area was or find some sort of shelter for us.  She, like me was one of the better hoof fighters.  She could use anything to fight, whether it be a weapon or just her bear hoofs.  Lastly, there’s me.  My name is Applejack, but everyone just calls me AJ.  I am the team mechanic, I modify our weapons and keep them maintained; I also make some homemade weapons and attachments.  I was good at hoof fighting but I preferred having  a weapon, I was good with just about anything you put in my hoofs.
There are two types of ponies that should be avoid at all cost.  The raiders, and the stalkers.  Raiders are most common around here.  They mainly go to large settlement shelters (shelters that have become safe havens to many ponies and families) kill everyone there take everything worth looting and burning the place down once they have finished.  Raiders usually attack in big numbers and don’t like to aim when they start blasting away with their weapons.  They just shoot into large groups of ponies hopping they hit something.  On the other hoof, you got the stalkers.  Stalkers are the ones you really have to look out for.  They travel in small groups of four to six, and they unlike the raiders ambush their targets or booby trap houses ponies are most likely to wander into, but most of them prefer their ambush technique.  They hide on the rooftops or in buildings around ally’s or open lots.  They will sit there hours sometimes days waiting for unlucky pony to trot by.  Also these guys are some of the best shots in all of Equestria.  If you are in their sights, chances are you won’t make it out of there alive, and once they’ve killed you they loot you for anything you valuable and disappear like nothing ever happened.
Other than the raiders and the stalkers, there are the zombies.  The most common zombies are what every pony calls the “norm zombie.”  The norm zombie can run up to medium speeds.  They have the strength of about two full size stallions put together but are not as strong as some of the other zombies.  The norm zombies are smart, they don’t usually attack large groups of ponies, but if it’s only one or two of you.  You had better run like hell and pray to Celestia they don’t catch up to you.  They usually attack in groups of ten or more and we like to call those norm hoards.  Next in line are the brutes, these are one of the more dangerous zombies.  Brutes have very keen hearing.  They have such good hearing that if you dropped a bobby pin they would come running after you and rip you to shreds once they had you.  So, sneaking around brutes is very very difficult and we usually end up killing them anyway.  The good thing about these zombies is that they don't run very fast so it’s pretty easy to out run them unless they trap you in a corner.  Brutes are smarter than the norm zombies.  They can surprisingly sneak up behind you, and they will use whatever they find lying around as either a weapon or shield.  Then there are the zippers.  These zombies are the fastest and are impossible to outrun, they are pretty strong, but they’re not very intelligent.  They will run right straight at you and will make loud panting sounds, this makes them easy targets.  The last zombie is one of the most feared of all the others.  The ghoul zombie.  Ghouls will not attack you unless you piss them off.  They are not strong at all (the weakest in fact).  They can run at an average speed but what makes them so feared is what they do.  If you come across one of these things and happen to piss it off, it will make a loud cry that calls on a massive hoard of all the zombies in the area.  So when you see one, slowly back off and make a run for it.
I started falling asleep when all of a sudden I heard Twilights voice.  She asked if anyone would volunteer for the first night watch.  I looked around and Rainbow Dash as always got up, grabbed her rifle and walked to the door.  “Ok then,” said Twilight looking at Rainbow dash as she slowly trotted, “wake me up after two hours, and I will take the second shift.  After my shift is up I will wake you up AJ and you can take over.”  I looked and Twilight and said, “Al’ righty then, but be sure not tah startle me or I might end up blowin’ yer head off.”  Twilight looked at me and gave a little chuckle.  She trotted over to her sleeping bag and crawled inside it.  She yawned and told every pony goodnight, and we all did the same.  I reached over to my ruck sack and pulled out my  blanket, I threw it over myself and put my head onto one of the sofas pillow and shut my eyes.
