The Adventure
Beginning
Load Full StoryPonies in Equestria usually like to Strive towards one goal or another. Some earn that talent in the form of a Cutie Mark, which happens to be what they love doing the most, and what they're most skilled at. They take that talent and make a career out of that. But what if there was a Pony who didn't know what she wanted to do? What if there was a Pony who had no idea if she even had any special talents, and tried many things, but all ended up in her giving up, because she felt like she wasn't any good at it? This would perfectly describe a Pegasus known as Silver Line, a young foal no older then 7. She lived in Cloudsdale, somewhat disconnected from the main city, but near enough to still be considered part of the area. Her parents were Shining Amethyst, her mother, and Stormy Feather, her father. Silver didn't have her Cutie Mark, and the other kids at school made fun of her. She didn't even do that well in school, but she tried hard, and even when the chips were down, she still kept pushing forward, no matter how badly she was failing.
Silver Line had a grey coat, with a silver mane, pulled back and straight. Her tail was short, and looked like a long spade.
She always had dreams of traveling the world. She didn't want to stay in Cloudsdale her entire life, in fact, she wasn't even a big fan of flying. She didn't want to fly through the skies when there was a whole world down below. However, she was far too young to go exploring on her own, and her parents wouldn't even condone it. But she would always read books like Daring Do, to fill her adventureless world around her, as well as some maps, imagining what they'd look like in pony.
"Silvie!" Amethyst yelled up to Silver one day. Silver, putting down her book, responded, "Yeah, mom?" "We're heading down to Ponyville to go get some things, want to come with us?" Amethyst yelled back up. Silver bounced up in the air, responding as quickly as she ran down, "Yeah!" She immediately ran onto the Carriage, and Amethyst and Stormy hitched themselves up to fly down. The clouds rushed past them as Silver watched as her house became less and less visible, with the clouds rushing to cover it up. "Look, Silvie, there's Ponyville..." Stormy points out. Silver looks down, and see's a town full of little houses, inching closer and closer, becoming more and more visible to her eyes. Silver let out a little Squee of delight.
When they landed, Silver immediately hopped out, wanting to take in every detail of the ground level, "Be safe, Silvie! Don't get lost!" Amethyst called out to Silver. "She'll be fine, Honey. Just let her be herself." Stormy said to Amethyst, she sighed and they went to the market.
Silver was looked around, with a giant smile on her face. She fluttered into the air, only to fall back down. When she got back on her hooves, she was confronted with another little Filly, "Hey, you a'right?" She asked Silver. "Yeah, I'm fine." Silver responded, dusting herself off. "I don't think I've ever seen ya'll 'round here before... you new?" The filly asked. Silver rubbed her neck, "Yeah, this is my first day. I'm just so excited, I've been waiting for this day as long as I could remember!" Silver explained. "Well, welcome t' Ponyville! I'm Applebloom!" Applebloom welcomed, shaking Silver's hoof rapidly. "I-I-I-I'm Silver Line... Y-y-you can call m-me Silvie, t-t-though." Silver replied, still being shaken by Applebloom vigorously. Applebloom finally stopped, and gestured toward a pathway, "Why don't I give you th' grand tour?" Applebloom offered. Silver, still a bit dizzy from the greeting, replies, "Alright, then. Lead the way."
Applebloom's first stop was Sugarcube Corner. "What's this place?" Silver asked. "This is Sugarcube Corner, the local Bakery. It's run by the Cakes." Applebloom explained. "Oh, yeah, and another pony lives in there named Pinkie Pi--" She was suddenly cut off by a pink blur bashing into Silver. "Oof..." Silver shook her head, and looked up at the pony who had just tackled her. "Hi!" The pink pony said somewhat casually. "Welcome welcome welcome, a fine hello to yooou..." Silver looked at the pony, a bit confused, and looked over to Applebloom, "Is this the pony you were talking about?" Silver asked. Applebloom nods just as Pinkie Pie finishes up, "I'm Pinkie Pie, what's your name?" Pinkie says, holding out a hoof. Silver reaches out for it, a bit worried. "I'm Silver Line, but you can call me--" Pinkie cut Silver off, shaking her hoof much more vigorously then Applebloom, "You must be new here. Want me to give you the Grand Tour of Ponyville?" Pinkie asked, still shaking Silver. Silver was too dizzy to speak, so Applebloom spoke for her, "Hey, I was doin' it first!" "Oh! Well, why don't we do it together?" Pinkie said, turning to Applebloom, letting Silver rest. "Uugh... any chance we can stop and get a bag?" Silver asks.
So, Pinkie Pie and Applebloom continue their Tour. "...And this is Town Hall! This is where we have a ton of meetings and stuff." Pinkie explains very unprofessionally. "Woah! How do you fit so many ponies in there?" Silver asks. "Cloudsdale City Hall is, like, twice the size of this!" "Oh, we don't have that many citizens, so we don't need a big fancy-shmancie Town Hall." Applebloom replies. "Ooh! Speaking of Fancy-shamncie, let's go show her Rarity's place next!" Pinkie offers.
So they do just that, and head over to Carousel Boutique. "This is Carousel Boutique, where Rarity makes a ton of fancy-shamncie dresses!" Pinkie explained gleefully. As she said that, a white filly came out, running out to Applebloom. "Hey, Applebloom! I got some new ideas planned out for how we can get our Cutie Marks!" She spoke to Applebloom, "Not now, Sweetie Belle. I'm showin' th' new filly around town!" Applebloom tells Sweetie Belle. It was then Silver realized that both Applebloom and Sweetie Belle we Blank Flanks like her, but Silver didn't want to mention it until she found it necessary. So she kept it to herself. "Oh! Have you showed her the Library? She might LOVE that place! Hey, you might even be able to find her a book about everything to know about Ponyville!" Sweetie Belle asked. "Hey, yeah! We'll go there next! I'll catch up with ya later, Sweetie!" Applebloom waved goodbye to Sweetie, and rushed off, "C'mon, Silvie! We gotta get to the Library!" "H-hey! Wait up!" Silver started to flutter after Applebloom quickly, trying to keep up.
"Hey, Twilight! Can we come in f'r a bit?" Applebloom knocked on the door of a giant tree with a door. The name, Twilight. It sounded so familiar to her...
The door opened, and a Purple Alicorn replied, "What do you need, Applebloom?" She responded. That's it! I know who that Pony is! It's... (PROTIP: Italics are thoughts after this point.)
"Princess Twilight!" Silver gasped, she bowed immediately. "H-huh? Oh, right. I'm not used to being a Princess, yet." Twilight replied. Twilight looked back to Applebloom. "So who's your friend?" "That's Silver Line, or Silvie for short." Applebloom explains. "She's the new filly in town! We're showin' her around town." "Oh! I know the perfect book. Stay right here..."
Twilight returned with a book labelled, 'Townships and Cities in Equestria' "Page 45, section 4. That'll be Ponyville." Twilight told Silver, as she levitated the book over to Silver. "Thank you, your highness." Silver said, nervously. Twilight giggled, "Please, call me Twilight." "Y-yes, Twilight." Silver replied, taking the book with her hoof.
"Silveeer!" A voice called out. "Oh, that must be for me, I'll see you later, Applebloom." Silver said, rushing off, "I hope to see ya again, Silviiiie!" Applebloom yelled out.
