It was a rainy night. You could barely see my purple coat and white mane as their where covered in mud. I can't remember what happened but I had a large cut down my right foreleg. I let out a cry of pain and a soft light washed over me. I couldn't see my saddle bag. I needed it.
A Gray stallion Pegasus with red eyes and green and red mane and tail came out he saw me. He ran out in the rain. "Oh my gosh are you ok" I was limp he carried me inside. He put me down on his couch and he went to get me a towel. I sat up. All I managed to saw was "than- Thank y- you." I then calapesed with blood loss from the cut.
I woke up clean and with bandages on my foreleg. I fell off the couch with a bang. The stallion came over to me, seeing me getting up off the floor. He galloped over and helped me back up onto the couch. I spoke up "Thank you. My name Melody." I smile at him sadly.
"I'm Kaz. " he offered me some tea. I was so thirsty of course I said yes. After a few moments Kez came out with a tray with tea. He gave me a cup and pored some tea in it. "Thank you. Kaz, why did you help me?"
Kaz looked at me like he thought I was joking but I was being serious. "I couldn't just leave you out there, you could have died, I could never live with myself if I let that happened.
I took a sip from my tea cup. "Kez I had a sadle bag with me, did you see it. I need it it has... Important stuff in it."
Kez perked his ears up. "Do you? I can go out now if you want me to?"
I shock my head. "No, it is to dark. Kaz do you have a family?"
Kaz nodded a bit confused "yes but they live faraway, in Manehatten"
I sighed "I went their once, I hated it. That was before somepony-" I stopped I didn't want him to know. Kaz seamed interested. "hmmm tell me"
A tear rolled down my muzzle. "Somepony killed my parents. My dad told me to give a letter to somepony, he didnt get to say who." By now I was full out crying.
"Oh I'm sorry." Kaz sat next to me and put his wing around me.
I sighed letting him know everything about me. "I go from town to town thring to figer out who i need to give the letter to. That is why i need to find my saddlebag. It has the letter in it.The last thing i want to do is fail them. My dad who was a unicorn put a spell on it so only that pony can open it. So unless i realize who it is i cant do anything to find that pony."
Kaz looked truly sorry for me "Would you like me to help you?"
I sighed how much I wanted his help. "No, I cant take your life away like that." I turned away I couldn't bear to look at him. I felt his eyes staring at the back of my head. "please let me help"
I stood up. He now had full view of my blank flank. "I was so young when that hapened i didnt have my cutie mark. It has consumed my life. I still dont have it. I dont want anypony to help. I am in your dept enough already."
I couldn't look at Kaz. He wouldn't give up. "Please i don't want you to get more hurt"
I started to leave I will be fine, I am going to canterlot next. Maby the princess will help me. Honestly I don't want to go, but I can't fail my parents. And thank you Kaz"
I was at the door way when Kaz galloped up behind me, he kissed me on my muzzle. "Be careful."
My heart melted "I will. And if the princess can help me, i will come back. It breaks my heart to leave you, i will come back soon." I walked out onto the streets. And found. my muddy satle bag. I turned back to see Kaz sadly smiling, I turned to leave, I saw he was still there tempted to join me but I have to do this by myself. I walked towards the train station and brought a ticket to Canterlot. I was running out of bits.
A few months passed and Kaz was inside his house making tea. I hesitated but knocked at his door. Before he answered the door he asked ."who is it?" A tear fell down my face I didn't realize how much I had missed him.
I took a breath in. "Kaz? It Melody." As soon as I said that the door swang open and I saw Kaz. He took me in. I walked up to him. "Kaz, are you ok?" He started to cry and hugged me. I cried to. I missed him so much.
Another mares voice spoke. "Kaz baby who is that?"
I push out of that hug. I was so shocked. He, I... I turned away discussed. "Melody it is not what you think it is!"
"Than who is it Kaz?"
"She is just a friend."
"Then why did she say baby? Kaz please tell me."
"It has been months."
"Princess Celestia was just helping me out! She gave me some bits, helped me get my cutie mark-"
"Wait did you get your cutie mark?" He looked and saw a my cutie mark. A microphone. "That's great!"
"Please who is she?"
"Fine, today she admitted to me that she loved me, I was going to tell her that I loved another but then you knocked on the door."
The voice spoke up agean. "Kaz, what is taking you so long you said that you needed to tell me something."
"I have to tell her. Do you want to join me?"
I nodded. "Sorry."
He put his hoof on me. "It's ok, come on in."
I saw a white pegasus with a blue mane. "Kaz who is she?" The pony was pointing to me.
Kaz stepped in in frount of me proctetively. "She is melody. This is why I wanted to talk. I love her, not you."
She nearly fainted. "WHAT! I was the only mare you have seen for the past month! When did you meet her!?"
I spoke up. "I wound up on the street about 2 months ago. I had to leave, just before I left he kissed me and said be careful. I went to the princess and she helped me, apparently she owed my dad a favor. So she helped me. As soon as I was allowed to leave I went straight here."
The pony folded her hooves. "As who do you love? The pony who never left you or the muddy filthy runt who crawled to Celestia and never understood that you wanted to help."
Kaz looked at me. "How dare you talk about melody that way GET OUT!" The white pony left with out a sound.
After the pony left Kaz lead me to the couch.
"Kaz the letter was for Celestia all along. I could read it, but I wanted you by my side when I did."
"Do you want to read it?" I nodded then opened the letter.
Dear Princess Celestia
I am hoping that it would never come to this. If I die and my daughter lives, don't let her live in the past.
Please make shore that my daughter will someday love somepony. If this comes true I will truly rest in peace.
Make shore that she will be ok.
The rest of the letter was all muddy. But this was clearly the important part of it. I start to cry. Kaz came up and hugged me. That was all my dad ever wanted for me. Even if I didn't deliver the letter, I would complete his last wish. "Kaz."
"Yes?"
"I love you."
