“Well,” she began, “a few days ago I was giving my chickens a midnight snack and that's when I first saw it.”

“Well, that's just it. I don't really know. Elizabeak was the first to spot it. When I turned around, there was this big, black shadow right next to my cottage. When it noticed me, it took off towards the Everfree Forest.”
Rarity furrowed her brows. “A wild animal?”
“Maybe. The next day I kept my eyes open and saw it again. I called out to it, but it must have been scared and fled again.” She sighed heavily. “I'm such a loud-mouth.”
“Did you at least get a better look that time?”
Fluttershy cocked her head. She hadn't really tried to consciously recall the few details she had managed to pick up, but trying to explain her sighting to Rarity helped organize her thoughts. “It was about as tall as a human, but much bulkier.”
“Bear?” Rarity ventured, resting her chin on her knuckles while in thought.
She shook her head. “I'm pretty sure it walked on two legs. Bears aren't that fast, unless they walk on all fours. It's got to be something no one has seen before. Anyway, I didn't see it last night while feeding, but when I was getting ready to go to bed, I glanced at the window and there it was again. I could just make out a pair of glowing, green eyes. It startled me. So I hopped into my bed and hid under the covers.” Recalling the fright, she shuddered for a moment. “When I had mustered up the courage to look again, it was gone.”
“Ah, mystery solved,” Rarity dead-panned. “I know who your nightly visitor is.”
Fluttershy's head came up sharply. “Really?”
“It's the most dangerous predator known in the world today, … man. You've got a stalker.”
The pink-haired woman blinked and her hands began to shake. “You think?”
Rarity gave her a serious look. “Let me recount what you've told me so far.” She began to tick the items off on her fingers. “It's the same size as a man, it walks upright and it watched you getting undressed. It's a peeping tom.”
The animal caretaker bit her nails. “I'm not sure. I could tell that it was curious, but it was just as afraid as me. It could be an animal.”
“Animal is right. The only thing he was afraid of was getting caught. This is serious, Fluttershy. He could hurt you!” Rarity was approaching drama queen mode now, but it seemed fully justified for a change. “As soon as we're done here, we're going straight to Twilight. I'm sure she can put a protective shield around your house or something.”
“No,” Fluttershy responded a little more forceful than usual, but quickly went back to her normal self, when Rarity gave her an inquisitive look. “If it is an animal, I don't want it to get hurt. Besides, I don't wanna bother Twilight with this.”
Rarity shook her head sadly. How could one be this naïve? “Have you considered that it could be just some weirdo in a costume? Maybe he's using the fact that you wouldn't hurt an animal to peep on you.” She didn't want to see her friend get hurt, but Fluttershy seemed to have already made up her mind.
“I'm making one last attempt tonight,” she said. “What is the one thing all animals are after?”
Rarity raised an eyebrow. “You mean besides ogling pretty girls who used to be fashion models?”
Fluttershy ignored that. She didn't like to be reminded of the time, when Photo Finish had 'discovered' her and tried to help her 'shine all over Equestria.' “Food. It first appeared, when I was feeding my chickens. Maybe it was hungry. I'm gonna lay out some bait tonight.”
The fashionista mulled that over in her mind. If the pervert wouldn't go for the animal food, perhaps her friend would at least realize what was really going on. The thought of her being alone in her cottage at the edge of the Everfree still didn't sit well with her, though. But the one thing she had learned about Fluttershy over the past few years was that despite her shyness, once she had made up her mind, there was a will of iron underneath that meek exterior, especially if it concerned rare animals.
Fluttershy giggled. “If it's a new species, I might name it after you.”
Rarity sighed. “Well, I suppose if things get out of hand, you can always sick Harry the Bear on your stalker. But please promise me that you'll get help right away, if it turns out I'm right.”
“I promise,” she said, standing up and getting ready to leave, while making sure that the towel never slipped down on her body.
“I suppose it would be pointless of me to ask whether you would consider joining me for the 'House Special' this week?”
Fluttershy's ears turned red as tomatoes again. “Uhm, … no, that's alright. … But you have fun.” With a smile and a wave to her friend she left the room to put her plans for tonight's hunt into motion.
“The usual, Miss Rarity?” Aloe asked hopefully, when she was alone with her best customer.
But the dressmaker was chewing on her perfectly manicured thumbnail, something she rarely did. “Not today. I need to play guardian angel for a friend tonight and I need to do it discreetly. Time to design a 'dangerous-mission-outfit'!”

It was dusk near Fluttershy's cottage and the animal caretaker was pouring assorted treats from a bag onto the ground right in front of her window. She smirked, admiring her handiwork. A few fall leaves were covering the net underneath the food. She checked the ropes going to either side. They were taut and would trap her mystery visitor as soon as he came near.
She giggled to herself. The thrill of possibly discovering a new species excited her to no end.
There was a rustling in the bushes nearby and she perked up. Was it him? “I'm so sorry to have scared you before,” she said on the off-chance that it was. “Here's some yummy treats to apologize.”
Trying to contain her sense of excitement, she forced herself to walk normally around the house and to her front door. Once she had entered, though, she bolted for the window, hunkering down behind it, so only her eyes were peeking out.
“As soon as you touch that net, you'll be mine,” she muttered with a chuckle. Even if it took all night, she would find the creature and befriend it.

Darkness had already descended on Ponyville, when Rarity made her way to Fluttershy's cottage. Instead of taking the path up to her friend's home, she went ahead at a right angle until reaching the edge of the forest.
Her 'dangerous-mission-outfit' consisted of a brown fur coat, synthetic of course, a hood that was attached to it with some small ears sown on that resembled those of a bear and a set of fur boots that muffled her steps. She wouldn't be caught dead in this garment in public, but this was to ensure her friend's safety and it would allow her to blend into her surroundings better.
And really she was glad that she wasn't wearing her finest clothes as she kept getting snagged on thorny bushes and low-hanging branches. “Sometimes I don't get Fluttershy,” she mumbled irritably. “She's scared to death of that forest and yet she lives right next to it.”
Finally she arrived at a good spot. There was vegetation she could hide behind and she had a good view of Fluttershy's cottage. A light was burning behind a window of one of the rooms on the lower floor.
Preparing for a long night of watching unseen over her friend, she checked her pockets. A pouch of extra spicy peppers from Pinkie would surely deter any pervert, if hit in the face with it. A whistle ensured the ability to call for help, should it be needed. Rummaging around the other pocket, she produced a honey-nut granola bar. Designing and sewing her dangerous-mission-outfit had left her with no time to prepare a decent dinner that evening.

When that was followed up by a snort from behind her, however, she swallowed hard. Turning her head, she could make out a massive hulk behind her and stumbled back. All thoughts of going for her weapons vanished in the shocked instant.
The creature took a lumbering step forward and his features caught some of the light from Fluttershy's window.
“Harry?” Rarity asked.
It was indeed Fluttershy's ursine friend and not whoever was stalking her. Rarity breathed a sigh of relief. She knew that Harry was no danger to anyone. The bear sniffed at her hand curiously.
Realizing what had brought him here in the first place, Rarity held up the honey-flavoured granola bar and offered it to him. “Do you want this?”
Harry nuzzled the treat one more time and then swallowed it in one bite, licking his muzzle afterwards.
Rarity smiled, patting his head gently. “Well, I'm glad you appreciate it, even though that was my dinner. Now if you don't mind, I need to get back to this.”
But the bear could smell that she had more in her pockets, so he butted his head into her, hoping to get some more free snacks.
“Stop that,” Rarity snapped. “I really need to … eep!” She shuddered, when the wild animal suddenly licked her face. “Eeeewwww! Gross, gross, gross!”
Harry moved around her and pushed against the fashionista, nudging her deeper into the forest.
“I really can't come with you right now,” Rarity protested. Could it be that her camouflage had actually worked too well, that Harry had mistaken her for a fellow bear?
Whatever his reasons, he got up on two legs and swooped Rarity up as if she were a doll, slinging her across his shoulder despite her objections.

To make things worse, with his massive paws slung across her waist, she couldn't get to either the peppers or the whistle in her pockets. “FLUTTERSHY! HELP!”
Rarity's scream was swallowed up by the shadows of the Everfree Forest as the pair vanished into the night.

Fluttershy awoke with a start. Was that Rarity she had heard screaming? No way, Carrousel Boutique was halfway across town and surely at this time of night her friend would be tucked up in bed and sleeping soundly, right?
The animal lover looked around her dimly lit living room from her position on the couch. Everything was quiet. “Oh no! I fell asleep,” she realized and darted to the window.
The bait was still there and her trap hadn't been sprung. A cursory glance along the edge of the forest didn't reveal any movement. She settled back down into her observation position. “I'll catch you yet, my mysterious friend,” she said with a twitch in her eye. “And then you'll be mine, MINE! Ahahahahaha!”
Fluttershy stopped in mid-laugh. What the hell was she doing? The light behind her made the window glass partially reflective and she recoiled from her own maniacal reflection. This was just like the Grand Galloping Gala.
“Oh no,” she whimpered. She was on the verge of making the same mistake all over again. Shaking her head, she made up her mind. This wasn't a place she wanted to go back to.
It only took a few minutes to dismantle her trap. The thought that she had laid it out in the first place disgusted her. First thing tomorrow the net would go into the garbage. She looked at the calm forest sadly. “I'm so sorry,” she said in barely a whisper. “Please don't hate me.”
Dejectedly she made her way back into the house. All she wanted to do was change, go to bed and forget the whole thing had ever happened. She stood in front of the large mirror and looked at herself in her green top and yellow skirt. “You're a horrible person,” she told her reflection and began to unzip the skirt. With a flutter it fell to the ground.

No sudden movements.” All she had done to make contact had been in vain, but now it was here. Maybe if she pretended not to notice, it wouldn't run away.

“Wasn't there something I was going to do last night?” Oh well, it felt nice to wake up like this. The stone cave floor was a little hard, but she was lying on her fur coat and the hairy paw draped over her naked body kept her warm.

Fumbling around for it, she found that it was the whistle she had brought. Would it make any sense to try and call for help that way?
