A Letter of Apology

Trixie trotted at a steady pace from Ponyville, glancing back very often. She admired yet hated how Twilight Sparkle had deceived her. It was clever, her method. But then again, Trixie had been humbled a second time by the same unicorn.
Trixie had previously taken a powerful artifact called the alicorn amulet which grants whomever is wearing it unbelievable magic powers. She ruled Ponyville for several days until Twilight and her petty friends fooled her into taking the necklace off. She then learned that to prove she is the highest level unicorn she should use her own real magic. And then oncer she was strong enough she could come to power again!
She stopped, gazing at the hoof prints behind her.
A warm sweet, feeling told her to go back. The rest of the feeling was agony. But what both feelings told her confused Trixie. It was... Weird. Something else in her gut was very embarrassed. That part was what made her hide her tracks.
Steadily and carefully, she raised her hind leg and placed it in the print behind it. Trixie picked up her front two legs and put them in their previous spots. Her body was now twisted at an awkward angle. With a little bit of struggle she was soon on her way back.
As Trixie made her way, her senses told her to turn around. So when she was about to, a worse warning troubled her. No matter where she went, something was stopping Trixie.
Like she was stuck in a hole. On one side of the ditch, Ponyville. The other, would be her family and home. But it would be a struggle to climb out to either side. And once she did, she may regret it and it would be mighty embarrassing to turn back. Where should she go? In Ponyville she could rebuild her reputation and be loved all around. But she would have to face the entire town! Unless... She only apologized to the most important ponies. So she set off to make amends with the MAyor, and Twilight SParkle.
She was so absorbed in her own mind, that Trixie didn't notice she was already at the entrance of Ponyville until Snips was tugging at her leg!
"Trixie! Hey Trixie!" he yelled with a mouthful of taco.
"Hellooooo..." Snails chimed in.
"What?" She glared, frustrated at them interrupting her.
"Gosh! Nevermind!" And the two slumped off.
"So much for not being seen." she groaned.
Trixie stopped into Quills and Sofas to pick up parchment and ink. She already had quills at her home that she flashed into her hooves with a proud grin. As she gazed around, her ears lowered and a frown replaced the smile. Trixie was walking over to a nearby bench when-"Oof!" Lyra and BonBon shoved past her and sat down.
"How dare you?! The great and powerful Trixie will not tolerate-- oh nevermind." She didn't want to argue at the moment. Trixie was far too exhausted and had too much flying around her mind. She simply sat in the grass and started writing.

Mayor Mare,
With Aldo respect I request Ponyville's forgiveness. I acted foolishly and should not have tried to demand popularity. TwilightSparkle is a very talented unicorn. Maybe even as great as me. Although the rest of her friends shouldn't question a unicorn in her own show! Would they go to a play and say, "why are you such a showoff? The world doesn't revolve around you!" Because just a random thought that popped into my head. Most ponies consider that rude! I must say that

Trixie looked at what she had written.

That I am sorry. Please give me a chance to make it up to your town. I would like to make a speech of apology if you say I am allowed to.
Sincerely,
The Great and Apologetic Trixie.

She smiled and head towards the Mayor's house. She placed in her mailbox and set off with a proud grin. Not Trixie's usual pompous smirk, but a smile of humble pride. She took in a deep breath. "Do I smell... cinnamon buns?" They sounded delicious at the moment! So she followed her nose to Sugar Cube Corner where she found Pinkie Pie eating a pastry.
"Trixie? Is that you?" She said.
"It's the great and powerful tri-- I mean... Yes it is me. Ahehe." She replied with a blushing smile. "I smell cinnamon buns! How many bits for one?"
"Oh! Sorry, Trixie. Twilight was just in here! She got the last batch. Although, I'm fairly certain that I have a bun in the oven."
"Oh my! Well, congratulations! Who's the father?"
"Mr.Cake of course!"
Trixie gasped! "Oh my, well. I'd better be going. You said that Twilight was in here? Do you know where she went?"
"Oh yes, she went to the Ponyville Park. But why do you want to know where-"
But Trixie was already racing out the door.
Twilight hadn't gone far. She was speed-walking with Spike the dragon trailing behind her.
Trixie sped up immediately and reached her in no less than a few seconds. "Twilight! I- um," Trixie wanted to reach her rival so much that she hadn't thought of what to say.
"Trixie?" Said TwilightSparkle. "I thought you left and hour ago! What are you doing here?!" It wasn't the most friendly greeting, but not the worst, either.
"I need to talk to you, I sent a letter of apology to Mayor Mare. I want to say sorry to the town. But I needed to apologise to you, Twilight in pony. The great and powerful Trixie is sincere." That was too quick for it to sound sincere, you idiot.
For a few moments Twilight didn't say anything. She then shook her head and looked into Trixie's eyes. "Well, now's not a good time to talk because I'm running late for a picnic with Rarity." She paused and forced a smile. "Would you like to join us?"
Trixie's eyes glowed. "Would I?! I mean.... I suppose I could fit it into my schedule. Shall I follow you to the place?"
"Sure, Trixie."
Spike took Twilight's hooves and escorted her away from the blue pony. "Would you excuse us for one second?" And his aggravated voice trailed off.
From their body language, Trixie imagined the conversation went like this:
"Do you really think we should bring along her? She's a nightmare! Not to mention I think she gave me the evil eye."
"No, Spike. I don't think it's the best idea in the world, but she sounded like she was telling the truth when she said she was sorry and I'd like to give her a chance."
"Are you crazy? She should be sorry she showed her face here After what she did!"
"Spike! Don't speak that way about any pony!"
"Anypony except for Trixie."
"Listen, Spike. It won't be that bad, I promise! Now let's head over. Everpony else is probably there already."

So Twilight Sparkle led the way. I'm already late. She thought. And now I'm bringing along her. She stomped her hoof on the ground and they took off.
When they got there, Twilight was immediately greeted by Rarity.
"Why don't you stay here a moment." Twilight whispered to Trixie and then trotted off to Rarity.
"Twilight dear! Why are you so late? Did something happen?" Rarity took Twilight's hoof to help her up the hill.
Twilight explained what happened with Trixie. "And so... yes. Something did happen."
Trixie came forward. She didn't smile.
"Trixie? You remember Rarity?"
"Yes."
Rarity spoke through her teeth, "Twilight... May I talk to you for one small second?
"Not again." Trixie muttered, rolling her eyes.
This time, they didn't move far enough away for Trixie not to hear them. But from what it looked like, Rarity said, "Do you not remember what Trixie's like? It only happened a few hours ago." But what Trixie heard from Rarity enraged her. It was like flames were sprinting through her veins and muscles. Her ears snapped back and her teeth chomped down on her tongue when she heard, "Don't you remember? This picnic was just supposed to be the two of us so we could spend some quality time together!"
Rarity gasped, Twilight blushed.
The moment her voice passed her lips she felt awful! Dispicable! Regretful. She sprinted off in embarrassment. But she halted to turn around and whisper something to Twilight Sparkle as tears welled up in her eyes. "Sorry."
The sun had just about vanished by the time Trixie got back to the commons. I'd better get some sleep. She thought. Trixie's horn started to glow. Focus... Focus! A pink orb surrounded the unicorn. Halfway through, don't give up now! Finally, a great spark flashed and Trixie was in her bedroom! "Yes!" She hollered in pride. "The Great and Powerful Trixie has completed- huh?" Trixie's horn mysteriously glowed once again. And in the same spark, she was back in Ponyville. "A transportation spell..." She moaned, hanging her head. I suppose I'll spend the night in a hotel.

"One hundred twenty five bits!" The manager stomped his hoof on the counter.
"Please! I only have one fifteen!"
"No money, no key."
"But I don't have anything else. I promise I would pay you back when I get some more.
The manager sighed. "Fine. For a pretty mare like you, one fifteen is fine."
"Thank you so much!"
Just as she started trotting off, "Wait! I can't give you a key! What was I thinking?"
Trixie set the key back on the counter with her magic but she stubbornly stayed where she was. "You're going to wake every pony! Not to mention yelling at a customer let alone the great and powerful Trixie!"
"You're yelling just as much as I am!"
Just then a mare and stallion, panting slightly, clumsily walked down the stairs. "You were making more noise than us!"
"My point exactly." Trixie smirked to the manager.
Embarrassed, the pony handed Trixie the key to room 25. "Sorry about the noise, folks."
Trixie overheard the manager cuss under his breath and kick the counter as she walked away and hung her cape and hat on the coat hanger.
Most of the time, Trixie had to familiarize herself with the room before she could sleep in it. The room would probably have been beautiful when the hotel was new, but it appeared to not have been refurbished in a while. A carved clock with gorgeous detail had been chipped in several places. The wallpaper border with tinted images of Celestia and Luna had peeled. But the beset sheets and mattress were clean and comfortable, they were different shades of blue and orange in plaid. A scented candle was burning in eh room next to her, so it wasn't too strong. The smell was relaxing. Cinnamon? No peppermint. Maybe... But Trixie couldn't think any longer. For she was asleep.

The next morning felt early, but when Trixie woke up, it was past 10:00! She brushed her sleek blue mane, and glanced t her cape and hat. I don't think I'll wear those today. And she trotted off to breakfast.
There was toast, orange juice, and eggs served at the hotel. A perfectly crunchy crust surrounded the butter that was soaking into the bread. A tiny crispy layer was glued to the pillowy moist goodness that the butter soften just the right amount. And on the bottom were seven dark brown slashes from the toaster. The eggs were salted and peppered both mixed in completely evenly, and the orange juice had just the right amount of pulp.
Trixie stuffed herself until she couldn't stand another bite! Then she went to see if she had gotten a reply from the Mayor. Trixie received hateful glanced from ponies passing by as she walked to the post office. Did she do something?
When she stepped in Trixie was reconized by a colt who worked at the office. "Well if it isn't Trixie herself? You gotta letta from da Mayah. Townsfolk aren' too happy 'bout the speech she made this mornin'." He handed her the envelope.

Dear Trixie,
I received your letter and I believe that you are sorry. So, this morning I made a speech to the ponies. They didnt like what they heard. Maybe you should have spoken to them yourself. I understand that right now you are in a tough situation, but I promise it will turn out alright.
With faith,
Mayor mare.

"Great, just great."
