//-------------------------------------------------------// Discord's Lament -by menameh- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Boredom is an Awful Thing (Edited) //-------------------------------------------------------// Boredom is an Awful Thing (Edited) Discord had been living in Canterlot with Celestia and Luna for some time now since he reformed. He has been good, for the most part. He often pulls pranks on the guards that are quite harmless, well physically at least, their dignity though is completely shattered. Discord has pulled nearly everything he could think of with out harming anypony and had become bored. "Celestia?" Discord cried in exaggerated pain of boredom. "What is it Discord?" The tall white mare said signing documents on her throne. "I'm bored!" She looked over the paper she was signing, "What do you want me to do about it?" He teleported over her head as a chandelier, "Let's go do something, like the old days." She continued signing her papers, "I'm busy, go play with Luna I hear she has nothing to do." Discord sighed and teleported out of the main hall. He slowly traversed the halls of Canterlot Castle, never really taking the time to look at the beauty of the structure. He had made it to Luna's room but was reluctant to knock; she kind of intimidated him, though he would never admit it. Swallowing his fear he knocked, "Luna?" The door slowly opened and Luna lied on her bed reading a book on magical items of history. "Yes Discord?" Discord slowly entered the room, it was dark and the blinds were shut, "How can you read in this light?" "I am the Princess of the Night, I can see well in the dark." She put a piece of string with a moon on the end in the book and put it down. "Is that what you came to ask me?" Discord shook his head, "No, I was bored and wanted to do something, and Celestia said you didn't have anything to do today." "And wish for me to accompany you on some form of entertainment hunt?" Discord nodded his head and smiled sheepishly. "I would love to, however I have this boo-," The book disappeared and reappeared in Discord's lion hand. "DISCORD!" He looked at the cover, Equestrian Magical Items of History: Volume 2, "Really?" Luna grabbed the book with her magic, "Yes, sometimes I enjoy a good book from time to time." "A good book is one thing, but a history book?" Luna held the book tightly in hopes the draconequus dare not take it again. "Yes, I happen to love history." "Why? You lived it." For once Discord was making sense. Luna choked on her words and pushed him out of her room. "Just go!" ~ Discord now completely bored to no end, sits in his room disconnected from the castle perpetually spinning in mid air. He sighed and lied spaded on his stationary bed. Thinking of nothing else to do, he began to write a letter to Fluttershy. My dear friend Fluttershy, You must save me from this evil boredom of mine. I can not take it much longer. Yours Chaotically, Discord He snapped his fingers and the letter was sent via Spike. It took some time to get a reply probably due to the fact Spike was no where near her at the time. A puff of smoke crept into his lion paw and a letter appeared. Dear Discord, Perhaps you can come visit me in Ponyville. You and I do have catching up to do. Yours Kindly, Fluttershy Discord had thought for a second and thought it was a great idea. He then went to the main hall and spoke to Celestia about it. “A visit to Ponyville?” Celestia peered over her work. “Yes, I haven’t been there since my reforming.” Discord gave a large cheesy grin to make himself look as innocent as possible. Celestia smiled at this display of desperate innocence, and nodded to him in agreement. Discord jumped into the air exploding into various fire works and confetti showers with one fire ball that left the main hall. Celestia giggled and returned to her work. She flipped through the reported files for donations to the castle. Her eyes widened at the paper and looked towards the main hall’s door and thought to herself, “Oh no, Discord.” Discord had left the instant he got the permission to leave. He never used the royal chariots, even though it was protocol. He preferred to just travel by way of “snap”. He appeared at the front porch of Fluttershy’s cottage, he knew she didn’t like being surprised and he didn’t want to scare her, just yet. He knocked on the door and it slowly opened and was greeted by a pink blur ramming into his chest knocking him to the ground. “Pinkie.” Discord let out a slight huffing sound. “DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISCORD!!” Pinkie exclaimed loudly, “I’M SO HAPPY YOU’RE HERE!!!!” Discord was confused at the fact she was happy to see him. He was still not used to having friends. Discord snapped his fingers and appeared in the doorway, “It’s good to see you to Pinkie.” Fluttershy made her way to the door and held Discord’s paw and whispered kind words to him, “Oh it’s good to see you again Discord.” She lead him to the couch and sat him down and poured a cup of tea not only for him but also Pinkie whom had rushed to the table shortly after being left at the door. “So anything interesting at the castle?” He lifted the cup to his muzzle which everypony now realized he was wearing a top hat and monocle. “Oh it’s simply dreadful, my dear Fluttershy.” He put the cup down on thin air and looked at them. “I’ve been working on the defense protocols against the Changeling Horde and some other odd phenomenon occurring in the Everfree Forest and we are considering sending a specialist to look it over.” Fluttershy slightly giggled at the mannerisms of the tea cup and formal attire and continued to listen while Pinkie was still laughing on the floor. “What have you two been up to?” Fluttershy squeaked, “Well a Shagfoal got loose from the Everfree and I had to calm it down.” Fluttershy poked Pinkie to get her attention. Pinkie jumped and rambled on about all the pranks she pulled with Rainbow Dash. “And then I ran into Zecora filling out a form for that Alicorn Amulet thingy.” Discord spit out his tea and grabbed Pinkie and screamed, “WHERE IS THIS ZECORA!?!?!?!?” //-------------------------------------------------------// A Really Old Story (Edited) //-------------------------------------------------------// A Really Old Story (Edited) Discord, Fluttershy, and Pinkie Pie rushed to the Everfree Forest to go see Zecora. The entire time Fluttershy looked at Discord with concern and curiosity strangely enough. Discord’s determination blinded him from the fact that everypony was getting tired but not for long. They stopped at a clearing to catch their breath. Discord began to run in place to show that he was in a hurry. “Discord,” Fluttershy sweetly touched his paw to calm him down, “Why don’t you tell us what’s going on.” Discord calmed down and sat next to her, “Oh I wish I could Fluttershy, but it’s just so complicated, that I didn’t want to involve you in this.” Pinkie gasped loudly, said some things about oatmeal and confetti and just ran off, the others just assumed she wasjust being Pinkie Pie. Discord then continued to tell Fluttershy that this is bigger than anything. “You don’t understand Fluttershy, this is just something I thought I’d never have to see again.” Fluttershy ushered him up and they proceeded to Zecora’s which was not much farther. ~ Zecora walked in her home throwing ingredients into her cauldron. “Oh this brew of mine will be good, but where is some of that dark ash wood?” She looked on the shelves around the room and could not find any of the wood she needed. “Oh drat my dark ash is not here in my home, I guess I’ll get some from the Ember dome.” She began to walk outside when she saw Fluttershy and Discord charging towards her. “Oh my!” She then watched as Discord zoomed towards her, his eyes burning gold and roaring with fire. “WHERE IS THE ALICORN AMULET?!?!?” “Discord!?” Fluttershy screamed at him, which actually wasn’t very loud. Zecora stood in terror at the suddenness of the creature’s demand. “I-I am unsure of thy request, w-what is it, your quest?” Discord threw her to the ground and started to look around the room. She then got up, and shakily walked up to Fluttershy, “Fluttershy, my friend, what is it this thing that seeks to end.” “Uh, he’s looking for the Alicorn Amulet.” Fluttershy looked at Discord with concern as he destructively searched Zecora’s house, “He seems to think it holds a lot of concern.” Zecora timidly looked at him, “You must be Discord, of whom chaos is born, when bored.” She walked up to a little alcove, saw her chest and grabbed it. “This is what you seek, now cease this chaos of which you wreak.” Discord looked at the box and as Zecora was about to open it, he quickly shut it. “No don’t open it to me.” He held the box while staring at it with woeful and angry eyes while a tear a fell from his face. “Discord?” Fluttershy wiped the tear from his eye as she hovered in front of him. “What’s wrong?” Discord looked at the box and felt great hatred and pain pouring from it the tighter he gripped it. “Where do I start?” ~ Discord held the box with such determination that it nearly broke it. “Let me start at the beginning.” They sat down as he told his tale. “A long time ago, far before the rule of Celestia and Luna, before this land was even called Equestria, the world was unified and peaceful. It was ruled by a king whose name is lost to history but he was known as only King. One day his friend, a draconequus named Prelude, came to visit King to tell him of a Changeling rebellion. King then told Prelude and his wife Cherish to escape with their new born Adorn before the rebellion came while he fought them off. Later the city fell and was renamed Chryon the Changeling capital city.” “I’ve heard of that place.” Fluttershy spoke out of turn then quickly apologized. Discord continued, “Prelude, Cherish and their child Adorn, lived in exile watching over the conflicts of the world below them. While in exile Prelude taught Adorn to use magic, but all he could do was control emotional magic such as; love, anger, remorse, pride, etc. When Adorn became to the age of 1,000, Cherish gave birth to a new child.” Zecora spoke interrupting the story, “Pardon my intrusion, but what good is this confusion?” Discord glared at her, “I’m getting to it.” Discord put the box down and then light began to emit from the hinges, opening, and cracks that unfortunately Discord had made. Then the two ponies and the draconequus heard a slight whisper on the air. “Now will you let me continue?” Zecora nodded her head in slight fright and ushered him to finish. Discord looked at the box and continued, “The child had been deformed and smaller than a normal draconequus, but due to this deformity he was skilled in alteration magic.” Fluttershy perked her ears up, “Was this child…you Discord?” He solemnly nodded his head, “As the years past and Adorn became more skilled in his practices of magic, my parents moved their attention to me. Adorn became jealous and angry, one day when I grew older he challenged me to a fight, which as cocky as I was and not understanding his anger I accepted.” Fluttershy gasped and held onto Discord’s neck hugging him. Discord returned it with a tear. But all the hugging had stopped when the whisper returned uttering one word, “Anguish.” Fluttershy screamed and looked at the box. “What was that?” Discord wiped his tears and said softly, “My brother.” ~ Zecora looked confused, “Wait a moment, what happened in this battle of torment?” Discord looked at the box and sighed, “The battle grew intense with each passing minute, once I realized how seriously angry Adorn was I ran. My parents tried to stop him but in his rage………he killed my parents.” Fluttershy fell to the ground in shock. “I knew I couldn’t defeat him, but I knew one thing I could do. I removed my necklace my parents had given me and trapped him with in it. And as he was sucked into the abyss that is eternity he gave out one final roar giving himself a new name, ‘YOU CAN NOT CONTAIN ANGUISH!!!!!!’” The pony and zebra looked at him with such pity. Fluttershy became curious, “Why was the necklace an alicorn design when you are a draconequus?” Discord shook his head ridding himself of any doubt, “It was designed to look like King, the first ruler of the land.” Zecora walked up to the box, “Now that we know why you sought it out, now tell me what we do it about?” He picked up the box and thought for a while, “We can not keep it in Canterlot, for if I look upon it the spell would be undone and he would roam free.” He thought even longer until Fluttershy grabbed the chest. “Why not keep it in the ancient ruins of the royal pony sisters? If that’s okay with you of course.” Discord jumped up at Fluttershy, “That is a fantastic idea. No one goes there and it will be safe forever.” The joyful tossing of a pony was discontinued as another whisper became more of a roar, “REALSE ME!!!!” Discord looked at the box, “Let’s go do that now.” //-------------------------------------------------------// The Rift Will Stay Closed? (Edited) //-------------------------------------------------------// The Rift Will Stay Closed? (Edited) Discord, Fluttershy, and Zecora began to run through the Everfree Forest while hearing the creaks and cackles of the trees following them. The wind was cold and the distance dark and unknown. The three were panting, especially Discord, for the energy emitting from the chest began to drain him. Suddenly the trio halted at the sight of a rather large timber wolf. “Oh my!” Zecora exclaimed reaching into her saddle bag for a potion. Discord attacked the beast and it fell with one fell swoop of his tail. His anger began to burn and his eyes showed of pure red. “Discord?” He turned to Fluttershy and began to calm down. He looked at the chest and started panting again, “I-it seems, Anguish is starting to corrupt me.” Fluttershy held out her hoof and offered to carry it. “Please Discord; I don’t want to see you hurt.” Reluctantly, Discord handed her the chest. She then thanked him and looked at the case she now held. It was broken and chipped from his grip. Then she heard a whisper in her mind, “Put it on, let my power course through you.” She began to slowly open the case then it was slammed shut and lifted by Discord. “I’ll carry it, you can’t handle his influence.” Thus they continued toward the castle ruins. ~ The closer they reached the ruins the more creatures attacked them and easily defeated by Discord’s determination. Fluttershy was shocked to see so many of the creatures acting this way, she even tried talking to one of them and they scratched her face and messed up her mane and coat, which infuriated Discord further, though he’d never admit it. Zecora had been chanting a spell under breath to repair the case in Discord’s iron grip, but to no avail. Zecora began to worry for the troubles ahead, and most importantly, what the amulet was doing to Discord. This was starting to become a serious concern. They had finally reached the castle with Discord on the near verge of collapse, Fluttershy with minor injuries, and Zecora now worried what Discord plans to do. Discord made his way to the chasm and looked deep into the fog, snapping his fingers to not only clear the fog but to also open a rift in the earth. He peered deep into the rift and murmured a few words, “In the time before, we were brothers. During the battle of pain and chaos we were enemies. Now in this time I am an unlikely hero preventing a tragedy from shadowing over this land.” He then dropped the case into the rift and sealing it, hopefully forever. Fluttershy flew next to him, “Discord that was surprisingly profound for you.” Discord looked to his new found friend and smiled. “Well my dear Fluttershy.” He laughed as he hovered in the air with insane glee. “I simply resorted to my previous personality when the thought of my brother returning came across my mind.” Fluttershy just sat stale faced. “I was rather preachy when I was young, but after the torment of seeing my family killed and brother trapped I somewhat snapped.” He wiped away his tear and snapped his fingers yet again to heal Fluttershy’s wounds. Zecora walked up to the edge of the chasm and looked down into the rift, she heard a whisper that no one else could hear, “Ah, such sweet sorrow and pain. You’ll do nicely.” Her eyes flashed red for a second and she turned to the others. “We should probably go, this place is upsetting me so.”
