Things were lovely in the quiet town of Ponyville. The birds were chirping, the air was crisp and the sun was shining. It was the perfect day for a newly crowned princess to have a picnic with her friends. But instead, she sat inside her library, desperately trying to shut out the world. All of the ponies who wanted to see her; royal officials, the newspapers, the cameras! They bothered Twilight to no end. Suddenly, there was an excited knock at her door.
“Could you get that Spike”, the overwhelmed alicorn sighed, rolling her eyes.
As Spike opened the door, it burst open and in flew Rarity. Rarity was the last pony Twilight wanted to see right now. You see, Twilight now has a lot more duties that she has to do and appearances that she has to keep up with. One of those events was last night, and the paparazzi was out in full force. The last thing that she needed was her photogenic, attention obsessed friend Rarity.
“Ugh!” the unicorn started, “Have you seen the pictures of yourself lately? The tabloids, they always try to put you in such a bad light, hehe, now, if it were moi...” Rarity continued to babble on and on.
Just outside of town, Pinkie Pie awoke from her nap. She was as happy as happy could be. She bucked a nice, plump apple from the tree that she was sitting under and proceeded to meander into town. There was still plenty of daytime left... maybe one of her friends would like to do something! Joyfully, Pinkie bit into the apple. “Juicy...” She began to skip, as she normally does and made her way to Twilight's library. Pinkie knew how cooped up Twilight had been recently and figured that she needed something to do. Something that the two of them could do, while at the same time, ensuring that the crowds wouldn't bother them. She had an idea.
Pinkie could hear the ranting of Rarity from outside the library. Seeing that the door was still open, Pinkie let herself in.
“Hiya Twilight!”
“Oh... hello Pinkie...” the exasperated purple pony replied.
“Pinkie, would you be a dear and come back at another time” Rarity replied, “I was just explaining to Twilight that image is half the battle when it comes to the crowds, you know how troublesome they are to her lately.”
“Oh...okay” said the dejected pink pony, “I just stopped by to see if Twilight wanted to come bake with me. I know how busy she's been and well...”
“That sounds like a marvelous idea!” said Rarity, “Why don't you go with Pinkie Pie and have some fun for a little while, I'm sure that between Spike and I, we can fix your wardrobe in no time!”
Twilight decided to take the advice and followed Pinkie to Sugar Cube Corner.
At Twilight's request, the bakery was cleared out. Mr. and Mrs. Cake were caught off guard, but understood how the hometown hero might need some time alone with a confidant that knows who to keep a secret. The bakery was silent, just the way that Twilight wanted it.
“O.K. Twilight! First we got to get our ingredients out.”
Pinkie Pie began to ransack the bakery. She knew the place like the back of her... hoof. Twilight counted off the ingredients while Pinkie placed them on the counter. “Eggs, butter, milk, vanilla...”
“GASP!!!”
“What happened Pinkie?!?”
“I'm all out of my secret ingredient!”
“Secret... ingredient?” Twilight had reason to be confused, they had everything out to make perfectly normal cupcakes.
“NO Twilight, you CANNOT make my cupcakes without the secret ingredient. Wait right here, I'll be right back!” Pinkie Pie shot down the hallway towards the basement.
Several moments passed, then Twilight heard a faint noise. That noise became a muffled yelp, then a low moan. Twilight took off down the hall. As she went down the stairs towards the basement, the cries grew louder. Twilight opened the door to the basement and saw... nothing out of the ordinary. There were multiple baking related items down there, but nothing that correlated to the screams that she was hearing. Using a spell that she had learned for just such an occasion, she was able to see where the screams were coming from by seeing where the sound waves were originating. Behind a bag of flour lay a little wooden door, just large enough for her to crawl through and behind that little wooden door: the source of the scream.
In the dim light of the one hanging light bulb, Twilight could see parts of... dear Celestia, are those ponies!?! A suit stitched together from miscellaneous cutie marks was hanging on a mannequin in the corner. The room smelt of death, fear, and... something else Twilight didn't want to know. One poor soul was chained to a rack, next to dead.
“SPOILERS!”
The mocking shriek came from Pinkie Pie who strolled out of the darkness and into the dim light. Pinkie Pie shook her head.
“Now Twilight... you don't just barge in on other people's business.”
Twilight wanted to... to... do something, she was too conflicted to make any kind of decision. A yellow remnant of what was a unicorn hanging on the wall coughed up blood.
“Lemon Zest and I were just having some fun. Hehe! And now-” her voice suddenly dropped in pitch until it was beyond recognition, “I'm going to have some fun with you!”
Pinkie Pie began to levitate, along with other items within the room. Four brackets shot out from the darkness and pinned Twilight's limbs to the wall. Knives and tools spun around as Pinkie floated towards her “friend”. Pinkie's head began to spin unnaturally as she grabbed a knife from the air.
“AND NOW!!! LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!!”
Twilight wanted to scream, but all she could muster was a small sob as she stared down her fate. The knife began its decent.
A small black figure leaped out of the darkness and tackled the floating, deformed Pinkie. It produced a sharp, three pronged object and drove it into Pinkie's chest. Black ooze seeped from the puncture wounds and began to form a sphere within the spikes. As the ooze flowed, Pinkie's cries of anguish began to return to her normal range. The small figure hopped off of the pink pony and Twilight saw that its “eyes” glowed a faint blue. The figure produced a scythe that seemed to appear out of thin air. Twilight knew that this weapon was too big to just carry around, even for somepony her size. It swung and plunged the weapon into Pinkie Pie's chest, silencing her with one last gasp. No blood seeped from her wound, she just froze.
The small figure surveyed the room. It looked at Lemon Zest, sighed and made a tapping noise. The shackles that held her up released and she slumped to the floor. The figure dragged her away from the wall and laid Lemon Zest out flat. The figure produced a bottle from what appeared to be a cloak. It poured the contents all over Lemon Zest.
“This should numb the pain, there is nothing else I can do for you.”
The figure spoke in a calm, soothing whisper, though higher pitched than Twilight was expecting. The figure produced a reverberating “STOMP” and Lemon Zest burst into flames. These flames were different from that of a campfire, these flames were bright white and weren't hot at all. Lemon Zest gave a faint “Thank you...” as she disintegrated into nothingness.
“May your soul rest in peace” said the little being.
Once Lemon Zest burned to ashes, the figure scooped the remains into the now empty container carefully, though unceremoniously. Content with its work on Lemon Zest, the figure turned towards Twilight with a hint of surprise and pleasure. It produced the tapping noise and Twilight fell to the ground.
As Twilight picked herself up, the being said, “Sorry you had to see all of that”.
Twilight stoically responded by involuntary vomiting. Everything that had just happened apparently just caught up to Twilight. Maybe she figured out that smell she didn't want to place? The figure turned around out of respect. As Twilight finished emptying her stomach, the being asked a kind, lighthearted “You done yet?”.
Twilight coughed and asked, “Who are you? What's going on? What did you do to them?” in rapid succession.
“The cleanup team will be here any minute” the figure mumbled to itself. “I need you to come with me” The request was kind, but with urgency.
“You still haven't answered me.”
“I will explain later.”
“And if I say 'no'?”
“I am sorry, but you are in no position to bargain, I don't want to see more death today. There has already been to much”
“Well, thank you for saving me, but I am leaving and getting to the bottom of this!” Twilight stormed out of the basement. The figure rolled it "eyes", and appeared in front of her.
“I am sorry that I have to do this, forgive me, this might hurt a little.”
The creature jumped and grabbed Twilight's horn, With supernatural force, the creature threw Twilight so that she began to tumble forward. As she spun, she felt a strong force pull on her,
and all went black.
Author's Note
I know that this part is short. Part two will be coming soon, and it is much longer. Let me know in the comments if there is something that I did that broke canon (though there are somethings where I intentionally might break canon) or if there is any kind of misspelling or grammatical error. Thanks!

(PS) If this was hard to read, I needed to make alterations from the original version. Future installments will be written with the writing style requested by the moderators in mind. Sorry about that.
