Equestrian Soldiers
Chapter 2
Previous ChapterNext ChapterI woke from sleep an hour before dawn, and made my way out to the track to do morning stretches before Sarge came and woke us up.
I was eventually joined by the rest of Pony Company, and we all did the same stretches together as I led them through the sunrise warm up.
Once the sun was a millimeter into the sky we were finished, and Sarge came to give us orders.
“Company, fall in!” Sarge orders us. We all made our formation, and waited at attention for more orders to be given.
“At ease!” Sarge tells us. We move into the proper position, and wait once more.
“Alright boys you have a test today. You are going to do a combat exercise with Fox Trot Company today, and I do not want to be shown up by them again.” Sarge tells us.
“Night that means no flash bangs you got it?” Sarge asks Night.
“Sir, yes sir.” Night replies.
“Good, now I hope you boys don’t make me order you to run the fun park twenty times tomorrow by losing this war game.” Sarge starts, “The objective is simple. You are to retrieve three files from the opposing force, and return to base safely. You will all be using rubber dummy rounds for the game. You won’t die from them, but they will sting you shitless.” Sarge tells us.
“Any questions?” He asks us.
“Sir, will I be able to use my rifle, sir?” Delta Shot asks. Sarge face palms with an irritated sigh.
“You can all use your custom weapons as long as their loaded with the dummy bullets and you will be aloud to carry your preferred melee weapons with you into the test, but they have to remain in there scabbards for the duration of the trial.” Sarge tells us.
“Anymore questions?” He asks us. None of us spoke up.
“Company, attention!” He tells us. We move to said position.
“Fall out, and gear up for the trial.” He tells us. We all give him a salute, and return to our barrack to gear up.
“This is going to be the best trial we go through.” Steel Skull says as he starts putting on his NCU (or Navy Combat Uniform).
“It will be when it starts raining.” I tell them all as I pull on my own NCU, “Then Fox Trot Company is going to lose so horribly that they will have to promote us.”
“Hey Dark, what are you planning?” Flame Scepter asks me, “Remember what happened the last time you did something too big?”
“Don’t worry; just make sure your boots have spikes on the soles so you won’t slip.” I tell him.
We were now heading to our armory to receive our weapons.
“Hey there Ponies, what can I get for ya?” John asks us.
“We have been given permission to use our personal guns, and melee weapons in the trial today, but we need rubber dummy rounds.” We tell him.
“Do you want the rounds separate, or loaded?” He asks. I look to my team mates.
“Separate.” We tell him.
“Who’s first?” He asks with a grin.
“Delta, you’re up.” I tell my friend. He nods, and walks up to the counter to speak with John.
“I need my rainbow rifle, and my long range throwing knives.” Delta tells John, “And seventy dummy rounds.” He adds. Delta was a miracle worker when he has his sniper rifle. He is the best at what he does, and we all are damn proud to have him with us.
John returns to the counter with Delta’s requested weaponry, and look to me.
“Steel, your next, then Night, Flame, Sharp, and finally me.” I tell the rest.
“Alright John, I need my royal purple shot gun, a side arm of your choice, and my gloves.” Steel told John. Steel had a strange addiction to having steel plated gloves. He says it’s better to beat on someone when you can’t hurt your hands. He always has his shot gun, and you don’t want to be on the receiving end of that monster. He had made his shot gun to have a ridiculous spread, and had spray painted it royal purple, with small highlights of lavender on it.
John returns with Steel’s guns, and gloves.
“I need my dark pistol, and my light, light machine gun.” Night tells John. Night had two sides, and each side was bad ass. His dark side is his normal side, but piss him off, and he will put holes through you with a whole magazine from his LMG. He was like an old gun slinger with his USP. 45 and we knew not to joke about it.
“Will you fetch me my Burning Scar, and my scepter?” Flame asks after John gave Night his guns.
Flame modified his scar to make a custom muzzle flash that looked like a dragon’s head. His scepter was similar to the one on his cutie patch.
Sharp steps up to John after Flame moved.
“I want my revolver, and my moon Bowie, and the ballistics.” Sharp tells John. John walks into the armory for a few moments, and returns with Sharp Thought’s weapons. Sharp was the only guy I knew who could use the ballistics knives, and hit something. He always had ten spare knives, but had his bowie knife for back up.
“What will it be Dark?” John asks with a smirk.
“I need my sword, and my custom revolver, as well as my acog scoped FAL, but only give me six dummy rounds for the revolver, and a full clip for the FAL, and then give me 120 duds of the 9mm’s, then two hundred duds for my FAL.” I tell him.
“Why do you want duds?” He asks.
“It’s going to rain today, I don’t need bullets.” I tell him. John was one of the soldiers that I had shared my power with.
John chuckles at this, and goes back into the armory. He returns with the requested items, and hands them to me.
I put the speed loaders filled with blanks, into the ammo pouch on my left side. I then pick up the six free bullets, and load them into my eight shooter revolver.
I put the magazine into my FAL, and click the safety on. I then put the spare mags into an ammo pouch on my right side, along with a few on my belt.
I then grab my sword, and strap it over my left shoulder. My sword is an aluminum steel alloy that was forged like a katana, so this not only made the sword lighter, but stronger as well. My sword was as long as a claymore and it had six slots up the middle of the sword for the elements of harmony.
I had the only sword of the group, and they made me the squad leader, even when I didn’t want to be, but I ended up in charge anyways.
I see Sharp reach up to his cutie patch.
“Leave it there Sharp. I want to show the rest of the base that we can hold our own, even if we’re bronies.” I tell him. My squad all put huge grins on their faces.
“HOO AH!” They shout. We all give a quick laugh.
“Squad, move out.” I tell Pony Company. They all got up, and followed me out the door, and to the battle field.
“Are you all ready?” Sarge asks us.
“Sir, yes sir.” I tell him. He nods to me, and lets us through the gate.
“A horn will sound the beginning of the trial, so be ready.” He tells us as he closes the gate, and walks off.
“Alright squad, listen up. We have to get the Intel, but we have to time it to the storm. Delta, I need you on high ground, but stay out of sight. Go as far as you want, but stay within radio contact. I have a great plan, but I need you to be there on my mark.”
“Got it Frost, I’ll be there.” He tells me.
“Steel, Sharp, I want you to breach and clear when I give you the go. Steel, I need you resist head butting your target. Sharp you will be the quick shot with Steel, keep him out of the fire, but don’t compromise yourself.”
“Yes sir, we understand.” Sharp tells me while Steel nods.
“Flame, you’re with me when the breach team is done. We’re going to move fast, and quiet. Only shoot at what you can kill without getting caught.”
“You can count on me.” He says with a nod.
“Night… just do what you do best, but don’t take one for the team. Delta until I need you I want you to cover Night’s arse in case he screws up.”
“I’ll do my best to be careful sir.” Night tells me as he cocks his dark gun.
“Okay, so this all starts when the storm does, until then wait at your positions. Move out.” I tell them. We all split into the groups, or fly solo, to our positions.
Delta went up the hill slowly, and quietly. Steel and Sharp made their way to the small base at the center of the training fields.
Night ran up to the barricades at the front of the building, and waited for the storm to start.
The horn went off, and it was a deep fog horn.
I looked up to the sky, silently praying for the storm to come.
