Equestrian Soldiers
Chapter 4
Previous ChapterNext ChapterWhite, and my squad was all I could see, but we couldn’t speak to each other.
“Why did you open a portal to us?” A female voice asks from my right. I looked at the owner of the voice with my eyes since I couldn’t move my head.
What I saw nearly brought tears to my eyes. I found that I could move my jaw, and breath.
“We were not planning on coming to you, but to Equestria so that we could protect it from external threats.” I tell her.
“How did you manage to make the portal?” A male voice asks from my left. I look that way with my eyes, and am impressed, yet intimidated at the same time. Both of the beings were alicorns, but it was who they were that caught me off guard.
These alicorns were the King, and Queen of Equestria.
King Night Drop and Queen Sun Drop.
“I didn’t know if the portal would open your majesty. It was pure luck from my point of view that it opened.” I reply.
“Why do you want to be in Equestria young one?” Sun Drop asks me.
“I have a question before I answer your majesty.” I tell her.
“What is it?” She asks as she moves in front of me. Night Drop walked over to her side.
“I would like to know if you heard our prayers.” I tell them. Night Drops eyes narrow at this.
“You were the six that prayed to us each night?” He asks.
“Yes your majesty.” I reply. Sun Drop moves closer to me, and stares into my eyes for a few moments with the intensity of a galaxy. When she stopped she did this to the rest of my squad.
She walks back to the King, and says something to him that I couldn’t hear. The King seems to be in deep thought for a few minutes. Finally he looks up to me, and nods.
“Very well, I will allow you to live in Equestria on two conditions.” He says to me with a stern gaze.
“You will not harm the ponies at all, and you protect our daughters with your lives.” He tells me. I hear my squad start breathing again.
I brought them up to speed, and then returned my focus on Night Drop.
“Squad, do you accept these conditions?” I ask.
“Sir, yes sir.” They all reply.
“King, we accept these terms, and will never harm the ponies of Equestria, and will protect The Princesses Celestia and Luna with our lives.” I tell the dark alicorn.
“You all understand that if you do not follow these conditions, you will be removed from Equestria, and put on a world far worse than your own.” The King tells us.
“Yes your majesty.” We all tell him.
“I will grant one wish, and you must use it wisely. You all get one, and you will receive no more.” Queen Sun Drop tells us.
“We will replenish your weapons’ ammunition, and will repair your armor and melee weapons when we transport you.” The King tells us.
“We are forever grateful.” I tell him with a nod of respect.
“Take this to our daughters, and they will grant you a home in Equestria.” Sun Drop tells me as she puts a scroll into my inner pocket on my NCU.
“Where will you deposit us your majesty?” I ask.
“In our old castle, now go.” Night Drop tells me, and then a flash and we were all dropped literally in the ancient castle of the pony sisters. I get to my feet, and see that my squad, no… friends were nearby.
I went to each one, and helped them to there feet. We all then sat down in a circle, and waited for me to say something.
“What’s our first objective Dark?” Flame asks me.
“Our first objective is to find Ponyville. Our main goal is to get to the Princesses as quickly as possible, but remember our two golden rules.” I tell them.
“We understand Dark. We won’t harm a single pony, and will give our lives for the Princesses.” Sharp told me.
“What do we do as of now?” Steel asks me.
“Our objective is to find our way to Ponyville, but right now we need to take inventory, and know how long we can survive here if needed be.” I tell them, “Report your inventory when finished.” I tell them.
They all nod, and start to check there equipment, and gear.
I started to do the same.
I have real bullets now, and two thousand and forty rounds for each weapon. My sword has been repaired, and feels lighter than before. I pull my pack off my back, and look through it.
Canteen is full, MREs are plentiful, I have my two knives for back ups if I lose my sword, I have a small field first aid kit, and a compactable sleeping bag, along with a new weapon.
I took out the new weapon that was in my pack. There was also a scroll attached to it. I open the scroll, and read it.
Dark Frost,
We have given you this enchanted replica of your main weapon that needs no ammunition, but uses your magic to fire.
Only use it in a time of great need for it will sap your life force if you use it too much.
From the ascended,
The King and Queen of Equestria.
After I read the scroll I looked at the revolver that had a slight black dimming effect, like the opposite of a glow.
I looked up to the rest of my squad, and saw that they too received similar weapons to there primaries. I smile, knowing these would help when we ran out of ammunition, but that would only happen after a few great battles.
“Dark, we all have way more bullets then what we started with, and now they’re real.” Flame tells me. I nod to him.
“I know, we also got a bonus weapon from them, but now we need to work on our first objective. We need to get to Ponyville.” I say as I stand up, sheathing my new sword that had the slots for the elements. I pull my pack onto my back.
“Dark, which way is Ponyville?” Steel asks.
“Sharp, any ideas?” I ask.
“The mane six traveled in one direction the whole time when they were in here, so we need to find the area’s they walked on, and that should lead us back to Ponyville. It also depends on when the King and Queen placed us within the time line.” He replies.
“Then that is the plan we’ll follow unless it becomes too hard of a task.” I say as I look to the front doors of the ancient castle.
“Bronies, move out.” I say as I walk to the door, and open it.
We all got to the rope bridge that the mane six went over, and we crossed it without problem. The bridges ropes came to the sides of our abdomens, so that means that ponies are around four to five feet tall. This earned a sigh out of us all, for we were afraid of being taller then Celestia, but this put our fears to rest.
We stopped at the other end of the bridge.
“Use melee weapons, we don’t need to alarm any predators or ponies if they are close enough to hear the gun fire.” I tell my squad as I holster my revolver, and pull out my sword.
The rest of them did the same, and then we continued into the Everfree forest.
It was a slow and tiring hike through the overly vegetated forest, but we eventually made it to what seemed to be a trail.
“Sharp, check the trail for tracks, it will tell us when we arrived.” I say as I halt our motions, and wait on Sharp to look over the trail.
“Dark, there are still hoof prints on the track. I would say that they’re about a day old. By the number of tracks, there were at least six ponies here, but it seems as if two more joined them on the trek back.” Sharp reports to me. I smile at the news.
“Guess we’re here after the Nightmare Moon arc, and literally right after it.” I tell my squad, and start walking down the train, with the rest of my squad following me.
“We’ll follow the tracks for as far as they go, but if we lose them we will keep going in the direction they stopped at.” I say as I sheathed my sword.
My sword is light, but it gets awkward to carry for too long.
As we followed the trail, we hear the sounds of the forest. There was the buzzing of winged insects, and the occasional croak of a frog.
I stopped as the forest went silent. I pull my sword from it’s sheathe with a ringing sound as the blade is slid across the end of it’s sheathe.
“Be ready, something is wrong.” I whisper to the rest of the group.
We all waited while looking in different directions for a threat to show itself.
We all heard the rustling of leaves come from different directions, and got into wide stances.
Flame had his scepter at a forty five degree angle held in front of him. Delta had two throwing knives at the ready. Steel had his gloves on, and was clenching his fists. Sharp had his ballistics at the ready. Night put on his spiked iron knuckles, and nodded to me.
I saw the shrubbery move in front of me, and tensed in anticipation.
A ferret came out from behind the bush, and runs passed us to the bushes on the other side of the trail. We all chuckle at our nerves, but get serious as another rustle comes from the bushes.
We waited for what seemed like hours, but were truly only seconds before a group of wooden wolves jumped from the bushes.
They circled us, and we held our position.
“Sharp, how many are there?” I ask.
“Twelve, Frost.” He replies.
“Wait for them to attack, then counter and kill.” I say as I saw the wolves stop.
As soon as I was finished the wolves attacked us.
It was a flurry of weapons, and wood as we took the first set out.
I easily smack my wolf to the side with the flat of my blade, and then preformed an executioner cut.
I could hear the others finish the first wolves, and then the others attacked.
My wolf dodged my blade this time, and made to bite my leg. I jumped, and landed on the wolf’s head, smashing it into the ground.
I sheathe my blade when the others were finished.
I saw a few burning pieces of wolf wood, and chuckled knowing that Flame had done that. I then saw a few wolves with there heads smashed in, and looked to Steel, who was picking slivers out of his gloves. I turn to see two wolfs that had a knife in their head. I watched as Delta pulled them out.
“Alright, move out before they come back.” I tell everyone as I point down the trail.
“Uh Frost, they already are.” Flame tells me.
“Fuck, double time it, MOVE!” I shout and we broke into a run going down the trail, following the tracks as we did.
I hear multiple howls coming from behind us, and take out a hornet’s grenade.
“Nest out!” I shout as I drop the grenade, and let it stop on it’s own time.
For those of you who don’t know what a hornet’s nest grenade is, it is a grenade that explodes, and shoots hard rubber balls in every direction. So you don’t want to be around when one of these goes off.
I hear the small boom of the grenade, and yell, “HIT THE DECK!”
Everyone immediately drops to a prone position, and I hear some of the rubber balls wiz past us.
I hear the cries of the wooden wolves, which I now recognized as timber wolves and get up.
“Let’s move out.” I say as I stood up. The others did the same, and we continued onward.
We made it to the river were the huge purple serpent lives. I noticed that the sun was setting, so I held up my right fist to stop.
“We’ll make camp here, and continue in the morning. We will all take two hour shifts when we sleep. Delta, you’re with me on the first shift. Sharp and Night, you’re on the second. Flame and Steel are on the third, and we will rotate until right before dawn, when the sky starts to brighten.” I tell everyone.
“Frost, what if the serpent comes?” Sharp asks. I face palm as I remember the giant purple serpent that was almost as bad as Rarity when drama came into play.
“Just be cautious, and try to reason with him, but do not, take shots at him. If he turns violent, in the small chance that happens, try to reason with him.” I say as I unpack my sleeping bag, and take off my tactical vest, along with the NCU jacket.
The others did the same, and I went to get firewood. I kept my sword with me, just to be safe.
I returned to the camp after a few minutes, and had Flame start a fire.
Flame also has a special ability, but only I know about it. He has the ability to control fire to a point, and he hides his power very well.
Flame had a fire going after two strikes with his flint and steel. He didn’t need them, but he used them to hide his power.
“Alright boys, lets relax.” I say as I sit on a fallen tree.
“Dark, what are we going to do if the ponies panic?” Flame asks as he lies down on his sleeping bag, and looks up to the now deep blue sky.
“I’ll have a plan in the morning.” I answer as I pull out my sharpening stone, and start running it along my blade’s edge.
“Alright.” He says as he closes his eyes.
Delta and I stayed silent for thirty minutes for the others to sleep.
“So what are you really thinking about?” Delta asks me as he twirls one of his throwing knives around his finger.
“Home and what we left behind.” I tell him as I put my sharpening stone away. I then pull out my revolver, and unload the bullets, and reload them a few times.
“I can understand that. If we ever make it back, I don’t want to go back, but if we do Sara is going to have my balls hanging from her truck’s tow hitch.” Delta tells me. We both chuckle at this, but we also knew that it was true.
“What are you thinking about in particular?” He asks me.
“You know who.” I tell him.
“Oh.” He says backing down from his confidence, for he knew not to ask about her.
“I can’t get her out of my head. It feels like I just abandoned her.” I tell him as I put my revolver back in its holster. I feel the ache in my heart of a lost loved one.
“I feel what you mean. I feel like I just left Sara as well, but it is nowhere near your intensity.” He replies somberly.
“Alright, enough of the mushy stuff, before I break and then everybody is screwed.” I say with a mask of happiness.
Delta buys it, and chuckles with me.
“So do you have a plan?” Delta asks.
“I’m thinking of all the scenarios that could happen, and what we could do to get what we want the fastest. So far I have two plans. The first one is we walk into Ponyville, and you all wait outside the library, while I try to have Twilight contact the Princesses. I have two back ups if that fails.
“The second is if the ponies go into panic. We will walk in, see what the reaction is, and if they panic we walk on to Canterlot, and walk straight up to the castle gates, and just demand to see them both. I have back ups for those as well.” I tell him. He stays silent, and most likely thinks this through.
“Say the first plan works, how do we gain the trust of Celestia, and Luna?” Delta asks. I reach into my inner breast pocket, and pull out the scroll.
“The queen gave me this, and said it would persuade Celestia for us, and take care of that mess.” I reply as I tuck the scroll back into my pocket.
“That is very helpful of the Queen.” Delta says. I nod, and look at my watch. It beeps telling me our watch is up.
“Alright, our shift is up. You wake Steel, and I’ll wake Night.” I say as I stand, and walk over to Night Terror. I put my hand on his shoulder, and shake lightly.
Night wakes, and looks to me.
“Our shift is up. You and Steel are up now.” I tell him. He nods with a yawn, and gets up, and puts some wood on the fire. Steel joins him after a few seconds, and I get in my sleeping bag, and fall asleep.
