//-------------------------------------------------------// Tale of Lulamoon -by Pen Brush- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Magic //-------------------------------------------------------// Magic “Come and listen to what I have to say. After I got my cutie mark, I dedicated my life to being a show mare, even naming myself ‘Great and Powerful’. I would challenge anypony I met to show that I was better, and humiliate them with cheap tricks. I started to believe in the title I gave myself. I am not proud of what I have done, but I can not take it away. I can’t change my past or what it means for my future yet; the only thing I can do is continue traveling on the road of destiny. One thing I can do, however, is tell you the story of how I became a show mare, how I got my cutie mark. This is the story of how I learned that everypony gets a second chance. As a child, I lived in a big blue house in Canterlot with my parents. My mother was named Silver and my father Barry, they loved me dearly and took great care for me. My mother even stopped working at the silversmith for a few months to care for me, leaving my dad to work selling berries to pay for the house. My mother was a silver earth pony with a long blue mane and tail, with a silver horseshoe as a cutie mark, while my father was a light blue unicorn with a dark blue mane and tail and blueberries as a cutie mark. With their individual jobs they were able to make more than enough money to pay for the house. We could truly count ourselves among the royals of Canterlot. When I was a filly, I was very excited about my first day of school. I woke up extra early in the morning, excited to finally go to where the big foals go. I ran into my parents bedroom and jumped on them, telling them to wake up...” “Wake up, wake up, Twixie gets to go to school today!” Trixie yelled happily, jumping from her mother’s body to her father’s, smiling as they laughed and sat up in bed. “Well will you look at that, I believe Trixie is correct,” Barry said as he took Trixie into his arms and hugged her, before ruffling her mane playfully squealing in delight. “Daddy stop! Twixie has to get weady!” she said as Barry let go of her. "Yes, it's your big day; it's not everyday a young foal starts school,"  Silver said as she got out of bed and let Trixie jump onto her back. “Let’s feed you something before you go off to school.” She said as she walked out of the room. “Can Twixie have pancakes?” Trixie asked. “Yes she can.” Silver said smiling as she walked into the kitchen. “Like any filly, I was excited to start my first day of school, ready to have fun, play games, and make some new friends. What I didn't know was that life gets harder when you get older. I started getting bullied in fifth grade, because I was in a class full of ponies who already had found their special talents...” “Hey blank flank! You showed up today!” A gray pegasus colt said as he walked up beside her, a cutie mark of a flying horseshoe on his flank. “Yes, I did.” Trixie said as she continued to walk around the big playground, not looking at him. “Is the little blank flank angry that she didn't get a cutie mark in a day like she said? How sad.” The pegasus mocked. “No, I know my special talent, I am just waiting for the wight time to use it.” Trixie said as she stopped and sat down next to the schoolhouse, watching the other fillies and colts play a few feet away. “Horsefeathers you know it. If you knew it, you wouldn't be a blank flank. You're lying, and you'll never find your cutie mark.” The pegasus said. “Evewypony finds thewes, I know I will find mine Swift Wings.” Trixie said simply as she looked into his eyes. “Evewypony finds thewes.” Swift mimicked, “If you know your talent then show us, show us what you can do,” He challenged. “I couldn't just say no; he would think I was a scaredy pony. I didn't want to give him the satisfaction of seeing he had gotten to me, I couldn't just say no, because he would think I was a scaredy pony. I didn't want to give him the satisfaction of seeing that he'd gotten to me. I couldn't let him know that I really didn't know my special talent, and that I still wasn't a good magic user, a fact that everypony had guessed at for some time. “I accept.” Trixie said instantly, with a determined fire in her eyes. “Of course you would. Hey everypony! The blank flank is going to show us her talent!” Swift yelled over his shoulder, pushing Trixie into the middle of the playground, “Show us.” He commanded as he walked back into the circle of ponies watching. “Show us.” The fillies and colts all said together as they smirked. Trixie closed her eyes and concentrated, barely breathing as she willed her horn to fill with magic. Her horn was slowly coated with a light blue aura as a spark at the tip of her horn grew bigger. She concentrated on moving a few feet in front of her. She was trying to teleport. Her image flickered a few seconds and nothing more, before her horn slowly stopped glowing and all that was left was the glowing spark. The spark grew bigger, then exploded, making Trixie fall onto her back as the other foals laughed and started to taunt her again. “Trixie, Trixie, she's a little mixie. Trixie, Trixie, can't do a little tricksy!” They all taunted as Trixie slowly stood up and looked at all of them. One of the ponies, a unicorn pony named Dumbbell, was a little slow, “Trixie, Trixie she’s a little mixie, she can’t... uh... use magic.” He said, laughing as Swift looked over at him, annoyed at ruining their fun. The ponies slowly left Trixie alone as they continued to laugh at her display of power, and she was left, sitting where she was and looking at the ground. “They laughed at me, and made fun of me for being unable to use a spell that was too high a level for me anyway. I should have done something easier to be honest with myself. Everypony always says if they knew then what they knew now, they would change it, and I wish that as well. It won't happen though;  I won't be able to change that. After that they started calling me “The Great and Powerful Trixie” as a joke. I intended for them to say that and not make it seem like a joke. I wanted them to see that I WAS great and powerful. They are the reason why I challenged everypony to a duel to see who is better. The story of how I got my cutie mark goes a little differently. I was, by then, in the seventh grade and by then my lisp was almost gone, except for when I was sad or angry...” Trixie, now in the seventh grade and still having no cutie mark, walked home after an awful day of school. She had been teased and humiliated about not having a cutie mark and only being able to do party trick types of spells. She hated that she wasn't good at actual magic, and refused to accept it. She soon got home and opened the door, knowing her parents would still be at work and the house was empty, and went to her room. She jumped onto her fluffy blue bed and hid her head in the pillow so she could cry silently. “I was devastated, I stayed in my room for a few hours and cried the whole time until my parents came home to check up on me.” Trixie’s mother soon came home, and she opened Trixie’s bedroom door to see Trixie face first against her pillow and could hear faint sniffling. She frowned and walked over to the bed, sitting down next to Trixie. “What's wrong sweetie?” Silver asked, worried. Trixie lifted her tear-stained head and looked at Silver, “The othew fillies and colts made fun of Twixie fow not being good at any magic except twicks.” She said, sniffling. Silver picked Trixie up in her hooves and hugged her, before bringing Trixie up to eye level, “Don't let them get to you. Tricks are still magic, and they are just jealous of you.” She said as she wiped away some of Trixie’s tears. “Weally?” Trixie asked. “I would go as far as to say they would wish to have as much talent at magic tricks as you.” Silver said smiling. “You think so?” Trixie asked, smiling back. “I know so,” Silver stated. Trixie’s smile widened and she jumped onto her mother, hugging her tightly. Silver hugged back, before hearing a twinkling and looked at Trixie’s flank to see a light blue crescent moon with a five pointed wand next to it. “You got your cutie mark sweetie.” she said. “Really!?” Trixie said as she looked at her own flank to see her own cutie mark, “Yes!” “Of course I was overjoyed by the fact that my mother helped me see that my talent was magic tricks, and I was ready for the next day to come to show those colts and fillies I wasn't useless. I had found a blue cape and wizard had the night before school, and I was ready to make them pay for what they said.” Trixie walked into the schoolyard with a cape and wizard hat that she had found the night before in the basement to the laughter of the other foals. “Nice costume, blank flank.” Swift commented as he walked over to her, “Using it to hide your blank flank?” he asked. “No I’m not.” Trixie said, smiling. “I bet not.” Swift said as he used his wing to lift her cape, a surprised expression coming onto his face when he saw the moon and wand cutie mark, before hardening again, “What does that mean? That you magic the moon away? That’s Celestia’s job!” he said laughing. “You would like to see what the great and powerful Trixie has to show? I will show you that anything you can do, I can do better,” Trixie boasted. Swift blinked, “What?” he asked, confused. “Show Trixie what you are able to do, and she will show you that she can do anything you can do better.” Trixie said again. “Are you...referring yourself in third pony?” Swift asked, confused as to what was going on. “Trixie said to do your special skill!” Trixie yelled. “Ok...?” Swift said as he opened his wings and took to the sky, flying quickly over the schoolhouse as other ponies started trotting over to Trixie to watch as he came back down, “They don't...call me...Swift because I’m slow,” he panted as he closed his wings. “They won't be calling you swift by the time I am done with you, they will call you loser!” Trixie said, smiling snidely as her horn glowed and picked Swift up, before making him twirl around quickly as sparkles flew out before Trixie stopped the magic allowing Swift to spin like a top before falling onto his stomach. “You see! Anything you can do, Trixie can do better!” Trixie shouted, standing on her back legs triumphantly. “You...cheated.” Swift said as he stood up slowly and shook himself. “You are just mad because Trixie beat you. Anypony else wish to challenge Trixie?” she asked, looking at the other foals. Nopony came forward to challenge Trixie, and she smiled as she walked to the entrance to the school, the foals letting her go by. “I suppose it wasn't the best idea to do that on school property or to do it at all, but I was full on revenge at that point. I got in trouble when I got home though.” Trixie walked into her house and put down her bag by the door as she walked into the living room to see her mother sitting in a chair waiting for her. “Trixie, your teacher talked to me, why did you hurt Swift?” she asked. “I didn't hurt Swift, I was showing him my talent so he wouldn't make fun of me anymore.” Trixie said defensively. “There are easier ways than picking up a pony to show him your cutie mark.” Silver said sadly. “But...” Trixie started. “No Trixie, let me finish.” Silver said, “Your teacher also told me that Swift said you were talking in third pony and scaring him into doing what you wanted him to do. You shouldn't do that.” she sighed, “I am sorry, but you are grounded.” “That isn't fair!’ Trixie yelled. “It isn't supposed to be fair, you hurt a pony using your talent and magic, you have to take the consequences.” Silver said. “Fine!” Trixie yelled, before running up the stairs to her room. “I was grounded for a week. I grew more and more angry as I continued to be grounded. I was very happy when I was old enough to leave the house because I had enough money to buy a wagon to travel from city to city to challenge everypony. I started at Manehatten, and traveled all the way to little old Ponyville in less then a month. Of course you all know the rest, Twilight Sparkle and her friends humiliated me with an Ursa Minor, and I ran away, no home, no support, nothing. Of course, I was still able to get a second chance at being a good pony even after I kicked Twilight out of the town and took it over when I had the Alicorn Amulet on, that shows that Twilight and her friends are able to forgive anypony, even if that pony is nothing but a fraud...Alright fillies and colts, the story is over, I have nothing else to say, thank you for listening to this washed up mare...”
