Twilight Sparkle
I looked up from my book, the words still echoing around in my mind. With my magic I have had chances to walk on clouds, to have Dash bring me right up for a stroll around the to-be precipitation. Yet I have not yet earned wings, not of any sort. And what would it be like to simply glide? Up, then gently down, my face at complete peace. And somehow the poem I just read summed up where I am and where I'd like to be. Instead of being able to look up and see clouds, or the sun, or the sky I look up and see pure oak wood. Gnarled branches twisting and turning. Shelf after shelf of books - and many a stack - stood simply on the ground, waiting to be picked up. Again.
"At least I have windows..."
But of course it was coming close to pure winter. The clouds outside were dark as I turned around, stretching to see the outdoors. It was definitely still the day; otherwise I would not be able to see a thing. And then, with a jolt, I realized that there is absolutely no way for me to see the sky. Or birds, or anything, really. Life on the ground is more for education. Life in the sky is for leisure. As I put my book down, I realized - leisure is exactly what I needed right now. But only with a certain some-pony
Fluttershy
"Twi?" My voice was soft and incredibly angelic as I spoke. I felt nothing of it; it's been like this since I was born and not a single thing has changed.
"Twi, what's up?"
Even if my voice did bother me in this moment I would save my furrowed brows for later on. Right now my Twilight, my beautiful Twilight, was staring at the ground. Her brows were, though, no furrowed; whatever thought she was now deep into was not a dark one. Simply a curious one.
"Twi. Listen to me... please?"
And finally she looked up at me, her beautiful and deep plum colored eyes sparkling with anticipation. I knew I was apprehensive now. The shining in her eyes, of utter curiosity and deep questioning was of adventure. And I, a shy pony with the simple life I had, was extremely worried.
"Twi, what's wrong?" My voice was hardly a whisper.
Somehow, when hers came, it had the same tone but not sound.
"Shy.... I want to go up to the clouds."

It took so much longer than expected but I think today was the day. I had completely convinced Shy to take me up. At first she had been completely horrified. If she was anyone else her scream would have echoed through and around Ponyville. But her whispered scream was quite adorable.
"No!" Her hoofs trembled and her wings and ears instantly folded back and in.
"No, no, no! Twi, I will not take you anywhere as dangerous as the clouds!" She had stopped for a moment, thinking about her sentence.
"I mean, not until you had wings. If you had wings. Well, I mean, not unless you have wings!"
I was doing my best not to grin - after all, Shy was simply captivating when she was angry. Nonetheless I had to rear in - this was what I wanted. And the only pony I wanted it with was her. So after our first little argument about my idea, Shy began to settle down. I took that chance to explain my miraculous want with her puzzled mind.
"Oh, Shy, love. Don't you understand? I don't have wings. And... well, as far as I know..."
My voice grew soft as time went on. It felt as if that one simply sentence was lasting much longer than I had hoped.
"I probably won't have any soon. So, just once. Please? I want to feel like I'm flying."
And that was all that had needed to be said. Shy's blue eyes had been pointed at the ground as soon as I had begun talking. Looking around the small cupcake shop we sat in, Mane Street Cakes, I was glad to see nobody was listening to our conversation. I was not being rational; any pony - except Pinkie, of course - would agree. And then the most rational pony I had ever met lifted her eyes up to mine. Her expression was so deep, so gentle, I nearly forgot what I had been speaking of.
"If you insist."
Her voice was so tiny and innocent I almost felt bad about the situation I was putting her in. But the emotion did not take over - instead I leaned over our small vanilla cupcake, with pink whipped frost dabbing on to my chin, and kissed her. My love.
Twilight Sparkle
The moment I arrived at Shy's house I knew I was acting so much like Pinkie my hair ought to be puffing up. But I glanced at my reflection in Shy's small birdbath - hair straight and plum as ever. A perfect time to give it a little wind - especially up in the sky! A grin crossed my face, and I could almost feel my eyes shining. Today.... today I can fly. And Shy is the only person I'd want to do it with, anyway. I trotted to her front door, knocking lightly on the carved birch wood. She said she'd be awake and ready a small time past sunrise. She can't lie - I was sure of it. Mere moments later, my love, my heart, swung open her birch wood door. Her blue eyes were both apprehensive and triumphant. Hard to read yes, making sense, no. I did not, however, show my confusion. I simply flashed the same grin that had appeared mere moments before. Small bits of snow still lied here and there on the ground - but the sky was clear and the sun shining bright.
"Ready?" My voice even sounded like Pinkie.
Shy appeared not to hear it; nodding, she stepped out her door, closing it behind her. Shy's pink mane swished lightly as she turned back to me. I knew what was coming.
"I'll take you up,"
It was supposed to be a threat - but with her adorable voice it was hard to understand.
"Only if you close your eyes. The feeling is so free, so wonderful - I'd love if you would experience it fully."
I wasn't about to lie to her. After all, it was me who was already making her do this much. Though my grin did shrink slightly.
"Alright, then. Can we go now?"
Shy nodded, but did not grab me and look up. Instead she looked into my eyes expectantly - then it finally clicked.
"Oh, now? Alright, then..." My voice slightly exasperated I shut my eyes; tight.
I could hear the tiniest of sighs coming from her. And then, without expecting it - woosh .
I was being lifted off of the ground, but not fast. The air began to grow much colder, but it mattered not to me. Shy's arms were wrapped tightly around me in what I could only describe as the most wonderful feeling in the world. It felt as if we were raising constantly, not stopping to stay at on altitude. Instead we moved on to the next, and the next. The temptation to open my eyes was so great I nearly did. But I kept my word. And then, without even realizing it, I was flying. Straight forward. The speed was perfect but my mind would not focus on the free sensation. I had goosebumps. Shy's grip around my stomach was tight. Her chin sat atop of my mane and I could feel her breath on my ears. The sound was so sweet, so shy... just so incredibly Shy. I couldn't resist at all. In a blind attempt to turn my head I startled her, but Shy did recover quick.
"Enjoying yourself?" She quipped quietly.
Somehow her voice sounded different. Not, not ever, in a bad way. It was full of something that I could only think of in a verse. Something I had read months earlier but somehow stuck inside of my mind.

Little smiles
Small gifts
And tiny shivers
Cups of hot coco

I opened my eyes and added my own words to my mind.
Love is like

She may be high in the sky
And you may be down on the floor and

But she also has the heart to

And gently Shy lowered herself a few inches. My hooves touched the ground. I was not angry, nor dissapointed; neither at the end of my flight or her little trick. She fluttered down softly, guilt freely etched on to her sweet face. And I did what was most obvious. I bent in and kissed her. And then my dream was completely fulfilled; it only took my heart, my love, my Shy to feel like flying.
Fluttershy
My breath clouded out like frost in the morning air. Autumn had been so beautiful, so prolonged that it was hard to believe that winter was coming. And fast. I closed my eyes, slowly, in a manner that I could only believe to be graceful. For a short moment it felt like I was alone. In the frosty darkness, my breath no longer visible. And then, without a chance of stalling the moment was over. I felt a shiver run down my spine as I felt her breath in my ear. It was cold. I wasn't surprised; yet the shiver made it seem so. My eyelids slowly unveiled my eyes. A frosty blue, only a bit darker, that utterly reminded me of the winter forming around me. Then I turned my head and saw the beautiful disruption of the landscape that was my love. My heart. The special some pony who snatched my heart and held it close to hers. It’s been a few months since we met but their was no hesitation after we looked into each others eyes. Her lavender, dark, mystical eyes. Her mane swished slightly as she came forward, her snout no longer close to my neck but my mouth.
“Hey.” I breathed.
My breath was immediately a simple cloud in the air, blanketing the space between us in my oxygen. And, with the magic that I have always believed to be a huge piece of her, she carved a heart into my cloud. I blinked my blue eyes. She blinked her’s, the lavender so full I was surprised the color was not simply spilling out. And I did not the one thing that, in that moment, I knew was right. I reached my snout right through the air and kissed her.
Twilight Sparkle
My eyes opened. Hers were so blue, like the crystals I could see hanging like tightropes above her head.
"Shy, my love..." She looked up at me, her name expressing exactly how she looked.
"I'd love to stay out here with you, all night, even. But... I'm freezing."
A gave her a sly grin, stepping away from the now vanished cloud of breath that she had just created. She nodded, keeping her mouth shut tight. There was no reason to be embarrassed about her previous action - I just knew that if I did not get back inside I would freeze completely. I turned around, knowing that she would follow me back to the cozy house that was shared, just outside of Ponyville. It was on a hill, too - an almost view of the entire world welcomed them both every morning. Applejacks apple farm was visible, along with the beginning of a mountain range in the distance. Though it didn't take the amazing view to sell us to the blue and yellow cottage, with deep brown shutters and roof. It simply took the memories Shy and I held there. Our love... we had grown up here. And we wanted our foals to grow up there, too.
Fluttershy
"Twi? Are you ready?" My voice trembled sightly.
I had woken up in the morning, sweat under my mane and on my soft, feathered pillow. Angel was still deep in slumber, curled up on her small bed beside mine. I wanted to forget but instantly I was reminded of the dreams that had penetrated my mind that night. All I could see was Twilight, my love, my heart, plummeting down fast through the clouds. If I was Dash I would be able to scoop her right up... but flying has never been important to me. Somehow, on this day, it became so for her. I shook out my mane. Cool air instantly shook out some of my worries. Angel stirred slightly; I needed to be more quiet when I looked back on my dreams. Standing up and stretching, my mind wandered to innocent excuses I can use on Twi. "Oh, honey, I'm so sorry, but I have a *cough* slight cold.." "Twi? I'm sorry, but today I have to help Angel with some..." No. None of it would work. At least, not a blatant lie. I knew I could never. I turned to look out my window, which just happened to be unopened. Lifting it up immediately a gust of wind rattled the frame and nearly blew me over. My eyes squeezed tight and my feet slightly off the ground - it almost felt as if I was flying. All I needed was someone to hold in my arms. The gust died down and, nervously, I opened my eyes back up. Looking at the enormous morning sky I began to think.
"Oh, Twi." I sighed softly.
Lying has never been my game. Not mentally. But physically?
"It's just a game I haven't played yet..."
