(imaginary) Friendship is magic
"Twilight? Darling, come away from the road, you'll get hurt."
Twilight velvet called to her little purple filly, standing on the curb.
"Coming mommy!"
Twilight called out before turning to her mother. She began to trot back but a tingling in her muzzle stopped her in her tracks.
"ah..ah...AH....ACHOO!"
Twilight sneezed loudly, stimulating her magic reserves in the process. Her horn lit up and violet magic exploded, sending her small body flying onto the road. She sat up, dizzy and disoriented, dilated pupils spinning. Twilight gave a small sneeze and wiped her muzzle with her hoof. Twilight velvet saw all this in slow motion and driven by adrenalin and horror, started racing towards her daughter.
"TWILI..."
She was cut off as her daughter was replaced by a large carriage.
The carriage stopped just after hitting the small filly but Twilight Velvet sunk to the ground on her haunches and sat there, dazed, while a stallion galloped over to her. He was saying something to her but she heard it with deaf ears. The shock of her filly getting hit was too much for her. He started shouting at her, getting hysterical. Twilight velvet managed to open her mouth slowly and forced out a word.
"T..T...Twilight?"
The stallion followed her gaze to below his carriage, took in the frazzled mare beside him and put two and two together.
"OH MY CELESTIA, I HIT A FOAL!"
He frantically galloped back to his carriage and drove it forward, off the filly, now a curled ball on the road. If her mother saw the strangers carriage with his mechanical propelling device, she would have admired it, but she couldn't. Her filly might be dead.
The stranger made his way to Twilight and lifted her onto his back with his magic. He carried her into his carriage, laid her on a seat and wrapped the blank-flank in a blanket. He left the unconscious filly there and coaxed the shocked mother into a seat beside Twilight. He needed to get them to the hospital. Another filly wasn't going to die. Not after his daughter.
NO. He thought, shaking his head to deter the tears. This filly wasn't going to die.
He drove like the hounds of hell were on his heels. Instead of the trip taking ten minutes, he got it down to three. The carriage was silent the whole trip but panic would soon ensue. He pulled up at Canterlot hospital, The best in equestria. He galloped into the reception as fast as his dark blue hooves would carry him. He skidded on the polished floor and crashed into the desk.
"I NEED HELP NOW! I HIT A FILLY!"
That got them moving. Nurse Tenderheart and Dr stable ran out the doors and he started to follow them when another nurse placed her hooves on his shoulders.
"Sir, the best you can do for them now is to calm down."
He nodded, reluctantly. In truth, he has taken a liking to the pretty mare and her daughter. He really didn't want to leave the mess he had made. The nurse led him into the waiting room and asked if he wanted a coffee. He accepted the offer distractedly, watching tenderheart and stable lift the violet filly onto a stretcher and a yellow, orange maned mare with carrots on her flank calmed the white and purple mare. The filly was escorted into a hospital room and Twilight velvet was ushered into a seat beside the stallion.
They sat in silence for a while, white unicorn still dazed by the accident and the dark blue unicorn fidgeting. The nurse who had calmed him down came in with his coffee on her back. He levitated it over to himself, smiled and nodded at the nurse, who returned the exchange and trotted away. He turned to Velvet.
"Coffee?"
"Hum?"
"Coffee?"
"Uhh, okay?"
He levitated the cup over to her and she took it in her hooves, as using magic after going into shock could cause brain damage. She took a shaky sip. They sat in tight silence until Twilight Velvet broke the silence.
"Did you see her?"
"See who?"
"Twilight. Did you see her before you hit her?"
"Twilight? Oh! Twilight, your daughter. N..No I didn't see her."
"Okay."
"So whats your name miss?"
"Twilight Velvet."
"Beautiful name, one for a beautiful mare."
Hang on a second-he thought- am I flirting with her?
"uhh...Thanks?"
Nice one, dude.
"So Twilight is your daughter?"
"Yeah...Not under good circumstances though. Dark alley...cold night..."
He put his hoof on her shoulder.
"I get it. you don't need to say anymore."
She was taken advantage of. It was an unplanned pregnancy. A scene played in his head.
A nurse opened the door with one hoof, letting him into the hospital room. Twilight Velvet was lying on the bed, exhausted but smiling. She looked up expectantly and her ears perked up when she saw him.
"Come on over, Hun, Meet our little spark."
He trotted over to her and she turned the bundle of white cloth to face him. She pulled back the hood with her magic, uncovering a little purple unicorn. He smiled and a name popped into his head.
"Twilight Sparkle."
"Hmm?"
"She looks like you and she has a sparkle in her eye. Twilight Sparkle."
"Perfect."
"Hello? Are you still with us?"
He snapped out of his daze to see Twilight Velvet waving a hoof in front of his face.
"We can go in and see her now...Would you like to come?"
He nodded, seeing a slight blush on her cheeks.
They trotted into the room side by side and stood at the foot of Twilight's bed. The little blankflank was breathing steadily, her head, chest and foreleg wrapped in bandages. A tube was attached to her other leg and an IV.
Tears started to spring to his eyes as he saw the state of her. A unicorn nurse came in with a clipboard hovering beside her and he walked up to her.
"What are her injuries?"
"The filly has one broken ribs, a hairline crack on her horn..."
he cringed. Not good.
"and a fractured foreleg. But don't worry sir, Dr stable will be with you soon to preform the first healing spell."
"The first?"
"Yes. Twilight Sparkle will have to undergo four healing spells, one for each injury."
"But you said she only had three injuries... whats the forth?."
The nurse closed her eyes and took a step back. She took a deep breath.
"She is in a coma."
