The Orb of Magic

Chapter 4 - Questions. Lots of questions

With the wind blowing in your face and the sun shining down upon you, you loose

concentration of your surroundings. You can't get over how the smell of nature and

flowers just lingers everywhere you go. "So, to recap what I had said earlier; We are

going to my place, I'm going to ask you some questions and you will spend the night as

you have nowhere to go. Then tomorrow we will go visit Rarity. After spending a bit of

time there we will go visit Fluttershy. I'm not sure how long this will take so lets

assume all day". You look down at Twilight and raise an eyebrow.

"A whole day for that? How many of your friends do I have to meet?" You question the

unicorn. Twilight looks up at you and notices the slight worry on your face about how

long and tedious you think this is going to be when she tries to reassure you.

"Don't worry it wont take that long, and you will love meeting them. Besides there's only

five" Twilight looks up at you and tries to pull an assuring smile which is met with

only a small sigh. As you press onwards Twilight begins to do what you were dreading.

"So... Uh, what do you know about all this anyway?"

"I don't really know, I just woke up in a dark building being hunted down by well that

rainbow colored pony. I really don't appreciate being on the edge of death all because

she 'got carried away'. The next time I see her, I think punishment will be due" A small

smirk find itself onto your face when then unicorn interrupts.

"Um. Punishment? She didn't mean to do that to you, I'm sure you two will get along just

fine. Why don't we forget about what happened that day okay? You know put it all behind

us. We don't really like violence here and rainbow will be scolded by the princess I'm

sure. Don't you think that you will be going a little overboard if you do whatever you

are thinking?" The Purple pony pulls a face as if to try and help her case.

As Twilight tries to convince you against what you may do, you think for a moment. What

if I repay her they way she damaged me? I'll break her nose, and snap her leg. You

quickly open your eyes wide and shake your head at the dark thoughts. "What the hell is

wrong with me?!" You quickly shout. This grabs the attention of Twilight who quickly stops

walking to face you.

"What's wrong? Are you okay? Nothing's wrong with you" Despite the unicorn's reassuring

words, you don't feel any better. "Look let's get you back to my home and I'll get you a

nice drink okay? I'll even set you up a nice bed. I think all the confusion is getting

to you". You nod lightly and smile thankfully. You begin to walk once again as Twilight

seems a little confused.

The trip back to Twilight's home was silent, but the occasional glance is shared. As you

continue to walk however, your completely repaired leg stops aching. You stop for a

moment and  swing your leg a few times to see if the ache has actually stopped or you

just wasn't feeling it at that moment. To your pleasure, there is no pain at all "I-I

think I might be able to walk by myself now". Twilight takes a few steps back, looking

ready as if to dive forward again. Upon seeing the unicorn take place, you let out a

small chuckle which is met with a reassuring grin. You take one step forward and land

steadily on your foot, then you take another. Seeing Twilight ready to catch you and

taking slow steps, you feel like a child, just learning how to walk for the first time.

As you think about the speed you are travelling, you realize that you are going really

slow, but another thought comes to mind. "Hey Twilight?"

"Yes Mystery?" With Twilight seeming pleased once again that she had named you, you

think for a moment as if to ask what you are about to ask, but you do anyway. "Because

you're a pony, and like a horse. Why can't I just... you know... ride you to your home?"

The unicorn seems taken back by this question. A disgusted face slowly rises upon

Twilight's face. Did I ask a bad question?

"Hey! There is no need for calling me a horse! Especially for what I'm doing for you.

And no you cannot ride me. I'm not some toy!". Yea, bad question. Twilight scrunches her

face as she turns away from you.

"I didn't mean to offend you. Sorry. I really appreciate you being friendly to me, if

you never showed up, I... I wouldn't have anywhere to go. And I'm sorry about suggesting

to ride you. It's just, from what I remember about where I came from, people rode

horses. And why do ponies get offended by being called a horse?" The unicorn turns back

around to look at you with a slightly relieved expression.

"We ponies get offended by being called horses because when actual horses where still

around... Well..." Twilight thinks for a while before continuing her sentence "Horses

used to just do anything with any other horse. While on the other hand, us ponies choose

our partners. So telling somepony a horse is basically telling somepony that they will

sleep with anypony" The unicorn looks down to the ground before poking a hoof at it a

few times "A-And I'm sorry for shouting at you like that. I didn't mean to"

"I'm sorry too, I didn't realize that it's an insult" You show an apologetic smile

towards Twilight When you start to continue walking. "So what does your place look like

anyway can I ask?" You look towards Twilight when she lift a hoof and points at

something.

"We're almost there" You look over to what she's pointing at but as you scan the area,

you can only make out what seems to be a large tree with windows. You quickly turn and

shoot a questioning glance towards the unicorn. Twilight smiles and nods a few times.

You turn your head back and look at Twilight again then back to the tree. Twilight lets

out a small giggle as she catches a glimpse of your confused expression.

You and Twilight stride up to what seems to be a door at the base of the tree-house

hybrid. Twilight bites down on the door know and turns the handle, then she pushes the

door open softly with her hoof. After looking at her curiously, she gestures you to

enter first. Feeling obliged you enter cautious of anything that might happen when a

quiet boyish voice yells. "Hey Twilight! Is that you?! I found that book you wanted" The

voice stops for a moment as a small green and purple reptile like creature walks out

from the top of some stairs while looking down at a book it has in its grasp. "I'm still

curious as to why you would need a book on ancient creatures".

The creature looks up and towards the door until it notices you. It gasps upon laying

its eyes on you and falls back on its behind. The book in its hand gets flung into the

air and lands on top of the creatures head. "Wha-what are you?" The creature seems

extremely terrified, but his expression fades slightly when Twilight emerges from behind

you.

"Aha Spike, I'd like you to meet Mystery! And Mystery, this is my assistant Spike!"

"Hi there Spike. Nice to meet you" you try to speak in the friendliest voice possible as

to try and comfort the reptile. The horror in its face starts to fade completely before

it takes a large and obvious gulp.

"H-Hey" The creature replies.

Twilight speaks as she takes a few more steps into the middle of the room you are in.

She looks towards Spike "Mystery is a human, that's why I wanted that book, to see if

his kind is in there. Oh and don't worry Spike, Mystery's as sweet as can be. Although

he is a bit clueless as he has no idea how he got into our world and has no memory of

his past" Twilight reassures Spike with a small smile as she picks the book up off of

the reptile's head. "And Mystery, Spike is a baby dragon. He may be a fearsome dragon,

but he's my number one assistant" From the look of Spike's blush, he obviously likes to

be complimented. Twilight starts to walk into a different room when you begin to follow.

"Can you wait here please. I just need to get something".

You turn to look at spike as he gets to his feet and dusts himself off. "So you have no

idea how you got to Equestria or just Ponyville?" The dragon seems slightly more

confident now but still seems a little intimidated of your incredible size. You must be

about three or four times as tall as him.

"What's Equestria or Ponyville? Is that where you guys live?"

"Oh right, no memory duh" Spike hits his forehead with the palm of his claws and makes a

stupid face. Spike thinks for a moment before continuing "Equestria is the world we live

in. It's made up of loads of towns and cities, and such a town is Ponyville. That's

where you are now."

"I don't really know" you mumble. The dragon seems really interested in you and wants to

know more.

"So what do you know? Oh! Have you met Twilight's friends? You've seem Rarity right? Oh

man, she's so beautiful and kind and sweet, and have you seen Fluttershy? She's shy yea,

but once you get to know her, she's as kind as anypony out there. Oh and what about

Rainbow Dash? She's so cool with her daring tricks and she's the most loyal pony I've

ever met. She'll never leave her friends hanging!" The dragon seems to go on and on

without any breaks for air when the word rainbow catches your ear.

"Wait Rainbow Dash, she has a rainbow colored mane right?"

"Yea, have you seen her? She's so awesome right?"

"Yea I've seen her, but she's going to wish she never laid eyes on me"

"Uh dude, that's kinda dark, what did she do to you?" Just as you are about to start

getting angry about what she did to you, your growing rage is interrupted by Twilight

re-entering the room.

"Ah I see you two are getting along just fine. Spike can you go upstairs and make sure

all the books are in the right order?" Spikes face drops at the word 'order' as he makes

a huffing sound.

"Fine" The dragon sounds annoyed and the grunting under his breath as he marches away

proves this. Just before the dragon is out of sight, Twilight yells one last thing to

him.

"And make sure they're in order A to Z!" You look over at Twilight who gives a slight

innocent look before looking over at a paper and quill to your left. A strong pink glow

starts to gather around her horn and around the paper and quill which is now floating in

her direction quite fast.

"What the hell?!" you shout. The glow around Twilight's horn disappears as the paper and

quill drop to the floor.

"What? What happened?" Twilight questions.

"Did you do that? The pink glowy stuff?"

"Yea, Its my magic, I was levitating the paper and quill to me so I can take notes"

Twilight tilts her head slightly to the left to show her confusion before a look of

realization pops up on her face. "Oh right. You've never seem magic before. Well every

unicorn can use magic, and the strength of our magic depends on our studies, but some

lucky ponies just have a knack for that kind of thing. The color is also different for

every unicorn. Mine is magenta, yet my friend Rarity's is a baby blue"

"Oh okay. Sorry for panicking"

"Oh its fine" Twilight shows a warm smile and starts to use her magic again. Once the

equipment is in front of her, she puts the quill a few inches away from the paper.

"Okay, so I'm going to ask you a few questions, is this okay?" Not more questions,

didn't Spike question you enough? Despite the reluctance, you manage to nod. "Okay good.

So first question. What do you know about the orb and how you got it?" Twilight brings

the quill to touch the paper, ready to write down the first thing you say. Realizing

this, you decide to test the theory.

"Red" you quickly snap. A small chuckle escapes you as you notice that Twilight has

jotted down the word red. Twilight confused of this comment, looks up to see your face.

Twilight frowns and shows an amused smile.

"Very funny. Now what do you actually know?"

"Okay. I woke up in a damp and dark room. After I came to my senses, I noticed I had the

orb, but that was it. I didn't know what it was, I didn't know you guys were after it

and I had no idea what it did. Then when I woke up in hospital and you where there, I

remembered it and showed you. That's all I know" Twilight scribbles down some notes then

looks up at you.

"Do you have the orb by the way?"

"Yea" you put your hand down your pocket and quickly pull it out. Twilight nods and

shows a relieved face once again. You slip it back into your pocket and look back for

more questions. Only to be surprised by Twilight yawning. "Are you tired?" you ask.

"Yes, the sun is down anyway. We will continue this later, but for now, you need your

rest. We have a busy day tomorrow, so its best we call it a night here. Can you follow

me please?" Twilight trots into a room to your right. As you follow, you notice a few

pictures of Twilight with a white pony. Although the pony is much taller and seems to

have a horn and wings. Not to mention the weird colored hair. As you enter the room, you

notice a large pile of bedding in the middle. "Sorry its not a proper bed but its all i

can do unfortunately"

"Its wonderful. Thanks" You walk over to the bedding and lie down to test how

comfortable it will be. It's not the best, but it is definitely a nice thought. Twilight

walks over to the exit of the room and turns to face you with a proud grin.

"Have a good nights sleep. You'll need it"

"Thanks, you too" you add as Twilight turns away and trots out the room while switching

off the lights. You lay your head back onto a pillow of the makeshift bed and let out a relieved sigh. Why is

Twilight treating me so nicely? I mean, yea I have the orb and all, but she could just

ask me to put it somewhere and leave. Upon those thoughts, you close your eyes and

slowly drift off to sleep.

As you open your eyes, you notice that everything around you is dark except a small

light in the distance. You look around to notice that there is no floor or walls. You

look back up to the light when you hear some quiet mumbling. You can't quite make out if

the mumbling is a voice, just some humming or something else. You reach out to the light

in an attempt of touching it, only to realize that it's a lot further away than you first

had thought. Suddenly a falling sensation fills your body as everything begins to fade

to white.
