Chapter 1: There's should be two
Grabbing your cowboy boots, you slip them on letting out a sigh. Summer has finally arrived and you can't wait to go for a trail ride on your mare Billy Jean. Grabbing your helmet bag you start your walk to the barn, being met by the fence by her. Confused for a second you look around for your other horse Shane. *Thats odd... Shane doesn't wander to far from Billy.* you think. Giving Billy Jean a last pat you head into the other field, looking around. Figuring he wandered into the barn you walk around the corner of your barn glancing into the opening your heart sinks. No horse. Turning around you look at all the fencing and notice a few boards down on the other side of your field. Smacking yourself on the head you start running back out of the field.
As soon as you make it out the gate you slip on your helmet and grab Bj's bridal, slipping it on quickly and throwing the reins over her neck. Leading Billy to the fence you fling the gate open and hop on from the fence, digging your heels into her and sending you both flying down the hill looking for Shane.
Not finding him around the house you steer Billy towards the river and start to trot towards it. looking infront of you carefully to watch for any random holes that coyotes or ground hogs may have dug up. Your heart sinks as you get closer to the river. Slowing Billy down as you slowly enter the river you look around. the dirt from someone, or something, still stirring around in the lazy wake. Looking up ahead you notice something. as you ride to it Billy starts to get a little agitated. "shhh its ok. probably nothing girl." you murmer to your horse as you stroke her shoulder.
Leaning forward as you go up a small hill to get into the forest you look around getting caught off guard when your missing horse bolts in front of you, almost slipping and falling when he makes a quick turn and bolts down the path in front of you. Billy jean jumps back slightly almost unseating you from her bare back. Cursing yourself for not saddling her up you urge her forward after the spooked Gelding. All of a sudden Shane disappears and, loosing your concentration for a second you don't notice the large stick in front of you, making Bj doing a fairly exaggerated trip, sending you flying over to the side. The last thing you see is your mares tail flapping behind her as she tries to catch up to Shane.
