Rainbow Dash smells something odd. She was expecting to smell the forest and the leaves but instead, she smells antiseptic and other cleanly supplies. Her eyes flare open and she jolts up, regretting that as she feels a sharp pain in her left wing. She looks over and sees that her wing is wrapped up in a splint. She sighs and lays back down. “How’d I end up here?” She thinks to herself. “I’m sure I didn’t walk here in my sleep. Could it have been Twilight and the others? Nah, they had no clue where I was. So, how?”

Her thoughts are interrupted as the door opens up and all of her friends enter. “Rainbow Dash!” Pinkie Pie says in her usual excited way. “You’re awake!”

They all walk over to her and Twilight says, “We were worried about you Dash. You’ve been asleep for a whole day.”

“A whole day?” Rainbow Dash asks. “CRAP! Does that mean I missed your birthday party?! I am so, so sorry Twilight! Please forgive me!”

Twilight giggles and says, “It’s quite alright Rainbow Dash. I’m just happy that you’re alright.”

Rainbow Dash exhales in relief. “So, how did I get here? Last thing I remember before waking up is falling into the middle of the forest. Did one or all of you guys find me?”

“Actually, no, it was somepony I’ve never seen before. He said that he found you and brought you to the town hall, where we rushed both of you to here.”

“Is she awake?” An unknown masculine voice from the other side of the curtain next to Rainbow Dashes bed asks.

“Who is that?” Dash asks.

“That’s the pony that brought you here.” Twilight answers. “Let me get the curtain.”

Twilight then opens the curtains and reviews a young and fairly good looking stallion pegasus, probably only a year older than the girls are. He has navy blue fur and his hair is somewhat styled in a somewhat messy mohawk that is a shade darker than his fur with a black streak in the front part of it. His yellow eyes contrast greatly with his fur, almost looking as if they are shining. The most surprising features about him, however, are his ears and his wings. His ears are a bit longer than most pony’s ears and end in furry tuffs. And instead of feathery wings like most pegasi, his are more bat-like. He smiles as he says, “I am glad that you are alright miss. It was a good thing Ponyville was so close.”

Rainbow Dash blushes a bit as she asks, “Wait, y-you’re the one who saved me?”

The darker pony nods. “Yes I was. I’m currently off duty on account to my wing,” He holds up his right wing, which is too in a splint and earns a cringe of pain. “So, I figured that I’d spend my recovery time here in Ponyville. I used to visit here when I was young with my older brother. But anyways, I was walking through the forest when that storm occurred. So I was hurrying along when you fell and crashed literally right in front of me. Realizing that you weren’t moving, I hurriedly carried you here and your friends can tell you the rest.”

“W-wow. Thank you. I owe you big time.”

The stallion chuckles as he says, “There is no need. Just wanted to help.”

And before Rainbow Dash could ask anymore, Rarity comes over to him and says, “Excuse me darling, I would really hate to interrupt but, you said that you are off duty?”

“That is correct.”

“Then what do you do for a living?”

“Oh, right. Well, let me first introduce myself.” The stallion leans up with a grunt and shows a bit more of his body and strange markings can be seen on his head, body, and legs, along with a crescent moon cutie mark. “I am Lieutenant Shadow Wing, of Princess Luna’s Royal Night Guard, at your service.” He ends with a bow.

“A Night Guard? But, you don’t look like the others.”

“Because of the eyes? Well, we can make our eyes slit mainly for intimidation purposes. But yes, I am part of the Royal Night Guard. What are your names?”

Well, I’m the fabulous Rarity. The pink pony is Pinkie Pie. The purple one is Twilight Sparkle. That’s Applejack and the pony you saved is…”

“The names Rainbow Dash, fastest pony in Equestria.” Rainbow Dash finishes for her, earning a laugh from Shadow Wing.

“Er, right. And we have another friend but she, ah, eat too much cake last night so she’s feeling a bit under the weather. Her name is Fluttershy. I’ll have to introduce you two later.”

“I am looking forward to it, Miss Rarity.” Shadow Says with a smile.

“Hey, I got an idea!” Rainbow Dash bursts out. “Maybe once we’re both out of here and while you’re recovering, I can show you around town. I still owe you for saving me after all.”

Shadow puts his hoof to his chin as he thinks. He then smiles and says, “Sure, I’ve love that. It could be exciting.”

“Cool.” Rainbow Dash says. Inside her mind, she is thinking, “YES! I get to hang out with him. Doesn’t hurt that he’s pretty cute too.” She perks up as she remembers something and says to Twilight, “Hey Twi, did you get my present?”
Twilight turns to her and says, “Why yes I did. It’s at my house. I’m waiting until you get out before I open it. Thank you in advance though.”

“No prob. Hope ya like it.”

“I’m sure I will. Well, we’d best get going. Be sure to rest up you two.”

“We will.” Shadow Wing and Rainbow Dash say in unison. They both look at each other and Shadow laughs as Rainbow blushes again and looks away.

Shadow Wing then adds on "Hey, is that Daring Do?"
