A Long Check Up

Doctor Whooves happily hummed a tune while he filed another one of his patients paperwork. He felt good doing his job at Ponyville Health Care Hospital. He wasn't the only doctor in the building though, as he put the file in a drawer and closed it. He then walked out of his office, not noticing a certain pink piece of paper sticking on the edge of his desk. As Whooves walked down the hallway of the hospital he looked at the other doctors and nurses talking to each other. While he watched a certain thought entered his brain.

"Those other ponies you are staring at, are flirting with each other." A voice said.

"No. There not." Whooves said to no pony in particular.

"Of course they are. Look at them. The way those mares move their hooves to pretend to brush some of their mane out of their way." The voice said.

"So. Maybe they all have long manes and they should get Their mane cut." Whooves countered the voice in his head.

"Suit yourself man. I know I'm right." The voice countered back.

"Is there a reason you're talking to me?" Whooves asked, not noticing where he was going.

"Doctor, who are you talking too?" A voice asked from behind him. Whooves eyes widen as dinner plates, as he turned around to see Nurse Red Heart looking at him in concern. Whooves just chuckled slightly, trying to come up with some sort of excuse for talking to himself.

"Oh nothing really. Just got lost in thought." Whooves said to the Nurse standing in front of him.

"Yeah. Lost to his own thoughts." The voice came back, taunting the doctor.

Whooves just ignored the voice and he asked, "Well what are you doing Redheart?"

"Well I was going to file this patients file, and come to your offices for something important." Redheart replied, holding a file with one of her snow white hooves. The doctor and nurse just stood there in the hallway looking in all sorts of directions, trying to break the awkward silence and gazes they made at each other. The doctor then broke the silence by saying, "Good work Redheart. Keep it up." With that said Whooves ran back all the way towards his office, not waiting for the nurse to respond to his outburst.  When the doctor was out of ear shot, Nurse Redheart said, "I hope you got my note at least." With that she returned to her station and worked the rest of the day.

Whooves opened his office door, sweat formed on him when he ran, and he closed the door gently."Great job just running away from her like that." The same voice came back to haunt him.

"Shut up. I get nervous when I'm around a mare alone." The doctor said to the voice.

"You are such a foal. Be a stallion for once." The voice said harshly.

"I can't. Not when I'm... around... her." Whooves said, a dark red blush forming on his face.

" Ah. I see what's going on here." The voice said in a teasing tone.

"You do?" Whooves asked.

"Yeah I do. you want to bang and mount Redheart." The voice said, teasing Whooves. If the voice had a mouth, it  would have a huge grin plastered on it's face. Whooves buried his face in his hooves. He wished he could just crawl under a rock and live happily ever after without the voice coming back to haunt and torment him.

He looked up, then he noticed a pink slip piece of paper on the front edge of the desk. His curiosity got the better of him, as he walked towards and looked at it. He read it, and it said, "Check up." He realized the one thing on the paper that he was supposed to do tomorrow. He had a list of mares to do check ups on.

He looked for the list for the name of mares he would be checking up on. And for all that is Celestia sun and Luna's moon, Whooves found it and he read the list of names.

The names on the list went; Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Twilight Sparkle, Fluttershy, Rarity Belle, Pinkie Pie, Aloe, Lotus, Roseluck, Daisy Valley, Lily Valley, Octavia, Vinyl (aka DJ Pon-3), Derpy Hooves, Colgate, Flitter, Cloudchaser, Fleur de Lis, Cloudkicker, Raindrops, Queen Chrysalis, Princess Celestia, Princess Luna, Princess Cadence, Lyra Heartstrings, Bon-Bon, Berry Punch, Carrot Top, Lightning Dust, Sunset Shimmer, Spitfire, Trixie Lulamoon, Cherilee, Photo Finish, Daring Do, The Cutie Mark Crusaders, Diamond Tiara, Sliver Spoon, Sapphire Shores, Zecora, and Nightmare Moon.

"Wow that is a lot of mares you will be checking up on." The voice said, disbelief in it's voice. Whooves just sighed and he said, "Yep. All part of being a doctor and I can't miss a day of work for this."

"So what are you going to do?" The voice asked, concerned. Whooves couldn't believe his ears when the voice started to care for him. The doctor then said, "Well mostly I'm just going to check if they have a sexual disease in their private areas, and tell them if they do or don't. Some will be checking up, to see if they are healthy enough to be a athlete and if they can compete in sports or something like that."

"You really got to get out of the office more often." The voice said, feeling overwhelmed with what the doctor just told it. Whooves just shrugged it off and he began to look out the office window, just in time to see the sun setting down below the mountains in the distance.

"Well at least I'll get a good night sleep at my home tonight." Whooves said, as he got up from his office chair. His hind hooves almost gave out on him. They felt like putty, so he paced back and forth, to circulate the blood flow into his legs once again. He did not realized how long he sat there in his office, talking to the voice in his head and thinking to himself.

Whooves was just about to walk out his office door, when the door opened and slammed right into his face. "Son of a." Whooves said, as he rubbed his muzzle. The doctor looked at who entered his office and it was none other than Redheart, standing and looking concerned for the doctor. "I'm sorry doctor. I thought you were sitting in your chair and well I thought I should tell you that I'm leaving for this evening." Nurse Redheart apologized, looking for forgiveness for her clumsy mistake.

"It's fine. Just be careful and have a nice evening." Doctor Whooves said, dismissing the nurse in front of him. Nurse Redheart left the office and walked away leaving the door open. Whooves just sighed as he rubbed his injured muzzle. The voice however said, "I know you want to do a check up on Redheart."

"Shut up." Whooves said, as he turned off the light in the room, and he walked out of his office, closing the door. He then walked down the long hallway and walked out of the hospital.

Tomorrow is going to be a long day for me. Whooves thought to himself, as he walked into the dark, dead, and cold streets of Ponyville.
