Chapters Scraps of ideas that I fail to flesh out
(This takes place in a universe in which Nightmare Moon did not happen but Solar Storm, my name for Celestia going all evil and shit and being banished to the sun for a 1000 years appeared)
“Captain Star, I have a last minute assignment for you.” A gray Pegasus wearing a Admiral uniform said over the Communication screen on the Bridge of the Lunar Republic Starship Supernova “We have picked up some strange readings near where you are and want you to investigate them, the research ship Twilight Sparkle and the destroyer Everfree will relieve you in a weeks time. I’m sending the coordinates to your navigation officer now.”
Captain Star was glad to have an extra week to stay aboard his ship but asked “Admiral, I am honored you would let us handle it but, why so long before they arrive? Is there not any other ships closer?”
“Any research vessel in the area are too busy on their own work and many won’t have the right equipment to properly study it. The Sparkle and her escort happen to be resupplying near Oraga. We already sent a craft loaded with proper equipment out to meet them. Is there anything else Captain?”
“No sir.” Saluting the screen, the general saluted back and the signal went black “Get my on the ship wide intercom.” before slipping on aheadset. The normally green earth pony, grey due to his uniform which is required aboard the bridge, operating the intercom taped a few buttons and gave a nod to let the captain he was on.
“I have good news everypony! We are being sent on a research mission, adding an extra week before our beloved ship is to decommissioned.” the Captain thought he could hear the cheers of his crewmembers though the soundproofing. “And tonight's dinner will be 1st Officer (name) famous Daurn surprise!” at this he pictured a third of his crew laughing, a third almost vomiting and the newest third asking the others what that was. Making a motion to turn off the intercom the young ensign quickly turned it off before the whole of the bridge burst into laughter
A mare officer turned to (1st) “How do you manage to mess up Daurns. Don’t they grew on your planet?” she managed to say before laughing again
“Yeah, that is why my cutie mark is a telescope not that of a gourmet chef.” he shot quickly back “Captain you don’t really expect me to make that after last time?”
Though a smile “Not until the day the Supernova is decommissioned, I can’t wait to see how Admiral Quicksilver’s face reacts when he has a taste. That is if the smell doesn’t make his feathers fall off!”
Someone spoke up “Isn’t the High Princess Luna supposed to be there as well?” the whole bridge quieted down for a brief moment as the envisioned Luna tating (1st) infamous meal before an even louder roar of laughter engulfed the bridge.
After the laughter faded the captain spoke up again “Alright lets see this anomaly, Fire up the magic engines and prepare for warp two, how long before arrival will that be (math name)?”
“One day, 6 hours and 48 minutes sir.” the pony called out expertly “Make that warp four then.”
Fifteen and a half hours later they were at their destination.
Captain Star turned to his Chief Science Officer (Something Sciency) “What exactly are we supposed to be studying out here?”
“I’m not picking up anything, but reports indicate something akin to the energy from unicorn after using magic.” Looking over the computer he was sitting at “I’m going to have to go down to the Science Bay to really know what is going on here.” Saluting the Captain before quickly leaving the bridge.
“I’m going to retire to my quarters, fetch me if there is an emergency or if they have a breakthrough with whatever we're out here for. (1st) You have the con.” The Star said aloud “Will do Captain. I have the Con.” (1st) said before a final salute and Star moved out of the room.
Walking the spacious corridors immediately outside the bridge gave one a sense of grandeur that most of the ship could not. Taking the elevator down to the living quarters took only a few moments. Very few rooms on his floor were occupied so he was able to quickly enter his private room without chatting. Taking off his uniform, his coat free of the spell returned to his natural light yellow color. He fell on his bed with little grace and he was asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow.
He awoke a few hours later when an alarm for general quarters went off. Star made it to his door before he realized he was not in uniform. He spent the next few moments throwing on the cleanest uniform. Reaching the elevator he told it to go to the bridge and after verifying who he was quickly rocketed towards the bridge deck. Upon arriving he ran down the corridor and finally arrived “What is the situation?” he asked immediately after entering.
“We seem to have a Griffon ship inbound and they are not responding to our hail.” a voice called out ”We have had some reports that some rebels manage to steal a ship while most of the crew was drunk while resupplying at an orbital base in this sector, Sir”
(Science guy) “Hold on, we seem to be getting some readings!” he turned away from his computer “They are increasing rapidly and could be unstable, I would advise moving somewhere to a further distance from it’s center.” Captain Star frowned “Do you know where the center is?”
“Uhhh... No we do not” (S.G.) managed to stammer out.
“I guess then we have to wait for either them to arrive or you mange to offer real advice. Get the ship in position to bring as much firepower to bear on them when they show up.”
“Yes Captain.” the Stallion at the controls said confidently
The entire ship was a flurry of activity for the next half hour, the heavy guns were loaded, arms were checked out of the armoury and the science ponies were busy trying to understand the readings from their equipment they were receiving. “The Ship should be within firing distance in two minutes, Sir” the officer from the firing control said
“Very good. Tell me is it possibly to increase the range of one gun to send out a warning shot closer to them?” Star asked
After a few moments of thought “With some bit of magic it should be possible. Do you wish me to such a thing Captain?”
“Yes, please do.” the officer ran to her station and talking to a gun crew telling them to prepare the proper magic. Thirty seconds passed before she addressed Star again “We will fire upon your command.”
Without delay he ordered “Fire.” pressing a button at her command station the gun let loosed it’s round the magic protecting the gun from the vacuum of space dissipated for a brief second as a magically charged round the size of a small car accelerated out the barrel.
Alarms started going off almost immediately “Captain the readings have gone critical we have to get out of here!” shouted (S.G)
Star stood up from his chair “We can’t! In less than a minute every gun on this ship will be firing--” A bright white flash stopped him mid sentence before everyone on the ship went unconscious.
(At this point someone wakes up and they are in the universe that is somewhat canon)

A knocking was heard on the door "What is it?" Asked Major Tungsten of the Luna Night Corp sleepily. "A letter has a arrived for you sir." Starching himself out as he headed for the door. His silver coat was visible without his armor on. Opening the door a unicorn held a letter "Thank you Private Post." Tungsten said taking the scroll with his mouth. "Good luck with the weeding sir." Post said before moving on to the next person getting mail.
Closing the door and heading towards his desk he thought "I bet I know who this is from." Placing the letter upon the desk he was surprised when he saw his mothers cutie mark as the seal on the scroll "I guess dad finally gave up." He said to himself before opening a drawer filled with scrolls from his father unopened and placed the new one inside.
"Well it's just about noon I should get ready." Tungsten thought to himself as he looked out the window of his home

“This is Ground Control We can’t predict how long your blackout will be today, so just hang in their Major.”
“Tell my wife I love her.”
“She knows, My Luna's Moon gui-”
Static was all that was heard on the radio before it cut to silence.
“For the next few minutes it’s just you and me. An earth pony and a machine. Hurtling towards Equestria faster then any pegasis would dream possible. Really makes you think.” Major Tungsten was strapped into the only seat. His facial expression were hidden under his helmets polarized screen. "I feel like I'm in an interrogation room." Tungsten mumbled off
“I wonder what I look like from the ground, it’s supposed to be a lovely night.” He was silent for a few moments before speaking again very softly “I bet history would like to know my thoughts.”
Tungsten spoke louder this time “I guess this is the best place to give a quick rundown of those events, you know just in case. Where to start?"
“I guess after leaving basic would be the best place. I was surprised at how quick my promotions came, after all I am just a pony from a small mining town in the northern mountains.” Tungsten chuckled “Those barbers were really surprised by all that fur they had to shave off me, I think they broke at least two electric clippers trying to get it all off before basic.”
“I was assigned to guard duty on the border of Equestria. I can tell you it was not always peaceful. I lost few of my closest friends, I also gained some more." At this Tungsten was quite for a while. "Still in radio silence?" he asked, wishing that by chance he would hear Ground Controls voice over the speaker.
"Well I guess back to my story." he sighed before continuing "After my time was up for border control, I was sent to Manehattan, a desk job up in-till my enlistment was up. I was by that time a Staff Sergent but I could not go back just yet. So I reenlisted. This was shortly after Luna's return so I choose to go into the Night Corp." He chuckled "I guess you can call it my choice. More like I was volunteered forcefully. That's when I was sent to officer school." Turning his head towards his right hoof patch "That's when I got into the space program."
"It's weird, I am starting to get hungry. I bet it is because of this freeze dried stuff taste horrible. Anyways no that I think about it, all of it seems rather normal and not very unbelievable that I am the one sitting here." Tungsten's stomach growled
"Just a little bit longer, than we can have some carrot and potato soup just like dad made them." Tungsten stopped talking.
"How long has it been? I don't think I've spoken to him since I refused to follow in his hoof-steps. Is he even alive? What about Mom and my sister? Does Precious Gem even remember my face? I left before she was even two." Tungsten hoofs made towards the straps that held him in to the seat.
A warning light came on in the capsule but Tungsten ignored it as he got out of the chair and stood up the best he could."I want to go home! I want to see my family!" he screamed at the top of his lungs
"This is Ground Control to Major Tungsten, can you hear me?"
"I want to go see my family!" Replied Tungsten
"Major, are computers are telling us your out of your seat. Can you read us?"
"YES GROUND CONTROL I CAN READ YOU! I JUST WANT TO GO HOME"
"Major Can you read me?"
"Major, we can't read you your just static."
Tungsten had broke down and started to buck wildly around the small confined space
"Major Please respond we -" A feminine voice cried over the speaker "Please Tungsten reply, I don't know what to do if you don't come back, please respond." the next few sounds were sobs from the woman before the radio was again silent.
Tungsten had started to scream louder and buck faster "I just want to return home and see my family." was heard on the radio but before anybody could respond the signal went dead.Those watching from the ground were shocked as the flaming capsule disintegrated right before there eyes.

The Lunar Republic Starship Supernova was making her way back to to Earth to be inspected. The Canterlot-class Cruiser Starships is believed to have served it’s course. Since the last war she has been stripped of some of her big guns, but the Supernova was still a source of pride for her crew.
The Captain was the third generation of his family members to serve aboard, but first to make officer. Today Captain Star sat in his chair, like any other day, in the center of barely controlled chaos that would make Discord proud. That was until he was told of an incoming message from Admiral Quicksilver.
“Put it on the viewing screen” he said quickly and forced a fake smile. Talking to Quicksilver was almost a sure way to ruin his day.

”We have had some reports that 3 weeks ago some rebels manage to steal a ship while most of the crew was drunk during a resupply at an orbital base in this sector, Sir”
“Hold on, we seem to be getting some readings from the anomaly!” Bill Neigh said excitedly.
He turned away from his computer “They are increasing rapidly and could be unstable, I would advise moving somewhere to a further distance from it’s center.”

Star personally hated the idea of a science detachment aboard his ship. He saw them nothing more a nuisance and this latest scenario only added to that opinion.
“Yes Captain.” the Stallion at the controls called out.
“Sir, the enemy ship should be within firing distance in two minutes” the (B.E.) from the firing control said
“Very good. Tell me is it possibly to increase the range of one gun to send out a warning shot closer to them?” Star asked

Alarms started going off almost immediately “Captain the readings have gone critical we have to get out of here!” shouted (Bill Neigh)
Star stood up from his chair “We can’t! In less than a minute every gun on this ship will be firing--” A bright white flash filled his vision and stopped him mid sentence. Sending the crew of the ship into a state of unconscious.
A smack woke the captain up “Ah crap, who did that?” he asked as his eyes opened blinking in the light of the bridge.
“Um.. Sorry Sir” (Random bridge crew member) said “It was the first thing I thought of to wake you up, I’m only awake because I spilled my coffee when I first passed out.”
“You had coffee on my bridge, I hope you cleaned it up before you woke me up.”
“Sir, I think we have bigger problems.”
“Like what?”
“We are the only two awake on the entire bridge possibly the ship.”
“Oh.” Jumping up from off the floor “Wait where is the Griffon ship?” he asked nervously
“I don’t know sir, but my sensors appear to be malfunctioning.” said the pony in charge sensors around the ship, (name), said
“How exactly are they malfunctioning?”
“Well they say we are now in the Home Solar System, but they appear to be no ships or colony’s transmissions that would indicate we were anywhere near Earth. Only a handful of artificial satellites orbiting a planet it labels earth.”
“What about other bases or ships?”
“Nothing but static.”
“And the griffon Ship?”
“Also gone.”
“That is odd.” pausing for a brief moment to gather his thoughts “Computer what is the status of the crew?”
A feminine voice answered “Off the 2000 ponies on board 1849 are conscious and uninjured, One casualty, 100 wounded only minor wounds, and fifty moving perfectly fine.”
“Who was the casualty?”
“Petty Officer Third Class Flambé, of cafeteria B crew”
“Send the nearest medical team to retrieve him before too many ponies see him.”
“Yes Captain”
After several moments of silence it was time to decide.
“Sir, what do you wish us to do? Should we risk moving closer to this planet?’
“Give me a moment to think. I think we should at move within orbit of their natural satellite and and see what kind of planet this is. Bill Neigh I want you to get down to your science ponies and see what they say about that last reading from that anomaly.’
“Will do.” he said before exiting.
“Get me on the intercom now.”
A quick few seconds went by “You are on sir”
“This is your Captain, we seem to have be teleported away from danger. But we may face an even bigger danger. We are approaching an unknown planet with signs of intelligent life, but other than that we know nothing. It will take us a few hours to reach the planet at sub-light speed and ask that a state of readiness will be reduced to Condition II. That is all.”
Then intercomm was shut off.
“Now we have to wait and see what happens.” Scanning the bridge he noticed everyone was looking at him. “Everybody get back to work.” he said calmly. as the crew continued to stare he got mad.
“Now!” he yelled
Everypony returned to their station quickly, even if they had nothing to do that would help and pretended to be doing something. (1st) was first to approche Star after the outburst.
“Sir, I believe we should increase the Condition, we don’t know what’s out here.”
“XO, keeping the crew on such an alert for an extended period is detrimental to efficiency and can cause accidents we can ill afford, or do I need to show you the logs of Battle Group Zebra.”
“No I have seen the logs several times during OCS.”
“Good.”
The bridge was now starting to become full of activity as more and more information was fully understood and being reported. The murmurs of conversation between officers trading information to help gain a clear picture started. Most of this was not reported to the captain directly but to (XO) and then only what was deemed important was then relayed to Star.
“Captain the planet is entering visual sensor range. Should we put in on the main view screen?”
“Yes pull it up.”
As a clearer picture of the planet came into better focus many in the bridge recognized the planet from their school books of Equestria at the start of the age of space exploration. All around the bridge was heard
“Is that?”
“Yes, it most certainly is”
“Nah it can’t be.”
The bridge became quiet after the last question was asked “Did we travel back in time?”

“Somebody get Bill Neigh back up here.” The Captain finally said
(Chapter Two Goal: Make first contact with Equestria)

Ship:This is the LRSS Supernova requesting identification on this channel.
Canterlot: This is an official Royal Guard channel, we do not have any carriages with your identification allowed within our airspace. Please turn back or upon locating you we will knock you out of the sky.
S: This is not a flying carriage. This is the Lunar Republic Starship Supernova.
C: This is for official business only you colt, if you stop talking now we will not charge you for this practical joke. Too much paperwork for me.
S: This is not a joke we-
C: Only a colt would think Starships are real.

“Major, can I have a word with you?” said a pony he had never seen before, which wasn't uncommon now as launch was getting nearer and nearer. The purple stallion ran up to him. Tungsten noticed a press badge and figured he had to talk to him no matter what he thought about the situation.
The stallion started “Well I’m [name later] I was wondering if …” Tungsten tuned him out as he spotted a familiar shadow circle around him. Smiling to himself “Gotcha” The shadow’s wings went into a diving position and started to get smaller as it’s maker dove on him.
3..2..1 Rolling to his left a split second before a batpony landed on him. Curiously the reporter did not flinch but kept going as if he was still there. Tungsten lept at the bat pony hitting it in the side and they went tumbling. Putting it in a headlock “You know if this was during a war my knife would be at your throat dear. Instead you’ll have to deal with a kiss from me.” he said with a mischievous smile.
Upon pressing his lips to hers he noticed something wasn’t right. he pulled back and noticed it wasn’t a pony but a training dummy. Looking around he noticed that the reporter was gone, another training dummy in his place. What he did see was his fiance speeding towards him like a missile cruising above the waves. She slammed into him knocking him into the ground where she pinned him down.
“Checkmate!” she said before kissing him “I won again.” after pulling away. Getting off of him she helped him up.
“But, but, how?” was all he managed to say.
“I could shed some light on that Major.” said a voice behind him. Turning around he see Colonel [female name] he quickly saluted almost unbalancing himself. “At ease, I was helping out your fiance get the drop on you so I made these dummies take the shape that would lead you into the ambush.” See note 1
“Is there anyway you could send me up a scotch Ground Control?” ask Major Tungsten.
“No can do Major, you know the rules about exploding while drinking.” Ground Control responds
“Yeah, I would hate to be put in front of a Military Tribunal for that.” Tungsten said sarcastically. “Well It’s just about showtime, you sure this is going to work?”
“It did the last five times we-” Tungsten buted in “Out of how many?”
Ground Control replied “135.75 times”
“How did you launch twenty-five percent of a rocket?”
“Well, you see we were testing the escape pod and the main thruster exploded shortly after take-off, unplanned unfortunately, we couldn’t make this thing explode like that on purpose even if we tried. Hey, at least we know that the escape pod works.” Ground Control explained. (note 2)
“That makes me real confident in you.”
“T-minus 60 seconds Major.”
All over radios and television sets across Equestria this was heard “This is [(Male?)reporters name] reporting live from (Somewhere). Major Tungsten of the Night Guards will be launched in under one minute aboard the spacecraft ‘Friendship 7’ and will become the third pony sent into space, but he will be the first Earth pony to escape the boundaries of Earths atmosphere as well as first to complete a full orbit. He will orbit the earth three times before re-entering. The trip will take between three to four hours. We are now only 20 seconds away. May Luna watch over you Major Tungsten.”
“T-minus 10...9...8...7...6...5...4...3...2...1...”

Tungsten mumbled off
“I wonder what I look like from the ground, it’s supposed to be a lovely night.” He was silent for a few moments before speaking again very softly “I bet history would like to know my thoughts.”
Tungsten spoke louder this time “I guess this is the best place to give a quick rundown of those events, you know just in case. Where to start?"
“I guess after leaving basic would be the best place. I was surprised at how quick my promotions came, after all I am just a pony from a small mining town in the northern mountains.” Tungsten chuckled “Those barbers were really surprised by all that fur they had to shave off me, I think they broke at least two electric clippers trying to get it all off before basic.”
“I was assigned to guard duty on the border of Equestria. I can tell you it was not always peaceful. I lost few of my closest friends, I also gained some more." At this Tungsten was quite for a while. "Still in radio silence?" he asked, wishing that by chance he would hear Ground Controls voice over the speaker.
"Well I guess back to my story." he sighed before continuing "After my time was up for border control, I was sent to Manehattan, a desk job up in-till my enlistment was up. I was by that time a Staff Sergeant but I could not go back just yet. So I reenlisted. This was shortly after Luna's return so I choose to go into the Night Corp." He chuckled "I guess you can call it my choice. More like I was volunteered forcefully. That's when I was sent to officer school." Turning his head towards his right hoof patch "That's when I got into the space program."
"It's weird, I am starting to get hungry. I bet it is because of this freeze dried stuff taste horrible. Anyways no that I think about it, all of it seems rather normal and not very unbelievable that I am the one sitting here." Tungsten's stomach growled
"Just a little bit longer, than we can have some carrot and potato soup just like dad made them." Tungsten stopped talking.
"How long has it been? I don't think I've spoken to him since I refused to follow in his hoof-steps. Is he even alive? What about Mom and my sister? Does Precious Gem even remember my face? I left before she was even two." Tungsten hoofs made towards the straps that held him in to the seat.
A warning light came on in the capsule but Tungsten ignored it as he got out of the chair and stood up the best he could."I want to go home! I want to see my family!" he screamed at the top of his lungs
"This is Ground Control to Major Tungsten, can you hear me?"
"I want to go see my family!" Replied Tungsten
"Major, are computers are telling us your out of your seat. Can you read us?"
"YES GROUND CONTROL I CAN READ YOU! I JUST WANT TO GO HOME"
"Major Can you read me?"
"Major, we can't read you your just static."
Tungsten had broke down and started to buck wildly around the small confined space
"Major Please respond we -" A feminine voice cried over the speaker "Please Tungsten reply, I don't know what to do if you don't come back, please respond." the next few sounds were sobs from the woman before the radio was again silent.
Tungsten had started to scream louder and buck faster "I just want to return home and see my family." was heard on the radio but before anybody could respond the signal went dead.Those watching from the ground were shocked as the flaming capsule disintegrated right before their eyes.

Beginning Possibility #2
The day was ordinary, Sun was shining and a little breeze blew through a town just north of Manehatten. The ponies around the dinner were almost oblivious to the country sending soldiers off to a foreign land to help an ally in need. That is until a young olive-drab stallion walked in with a duffle bag on his back. Many turned their head in his direction as he made his way to his seat. The serving mare quickly strolled up to take his order.

“Good Afternoon sir here is a menu. I’ll be back shortly to take your order.” The pink unicorn mare walked away to leave him to his thoughts as he decided his order. For the next few moments the mare continued her job bringing food and drinks to the patrons. She made her rounds until she returned to the table with the green stallion
“Have you decided anything to eat.” She asked as she puts on the smile almost everypony she served saw.
“Um, yes can I have the” flipping the menu over “dandelion soup.”
“Will that be all?”
“Do you mind sitting with me and talk for awhile, I’ve got a lot on my mind.”
“I can’t I have to work” seeing the look of rejection on his face as she finished her sentence “but you know what, I get off work soon. If you still need to talk to someone wait outside in an hour and we can go someplace we can talk.”
“Ok, thanks.” he said before she walked away.
When she brought him his soup they didn’t talk anymore than was necessary. He finished his soup within half an hour and left his bits on the table before leaving.
When the mare left work when she saw the stallion across the street and he started across the street. She tied her yellow mane up in a pink bow before he got to her.
“I know just where to go follow me.” She began walking down the street with him following.
“You look familiar, do you live around here? amd what’s your name, I’m (placeholder)”
“ I’m (placeholder2)and yes I do live around here, or at least I did. You probably saw me at school.”
“Really, when did you graduate? I don’t remember having classes with you? You can’t be more than a year or two older than me.”
“I didn’t I dropped out this year to join the guards.”
She stopped “Wait you dropped out to join the guards? Why would you do something like that?”
“I wanted to do something important.” he simply stated.
She opened her mouth but nothing came out. She began walking in silence. After several silent minutes he asked
“Where are we going?”
“To Rosewood pier.” She said confidently.

Friday Night.
"Every pony check the roster to see if you have weekend duty. Fall out!" The Sergeant in charge of the formation called. Quickly the once organized group devolved into a gaggle of guard ponies trying to be anywhere but there on such a wonderful Friday night.
The pony known as (n) rushed to get to his room in the barracks. Not even bothering to look at the roster and stright to his room. By the time he got there his roommate was already out is his uniform.
"You know sometimes I wish I had thoses wings to fly into the room first. One day I'll beat you in here." He said as he started to put his armor on his display stand near his bed.
The Pegasus laughed before saying "That will be the day I tell Top to kiss my flank." Too which both started laughing
"You plan on doing anything (p) tonight"
"I was planning on hitting a bar and trying to pick up a mare or two. You should come with me, maybe we could find you a new made. It's been about a month since you and what's her name stopped seeing each other"
"(Name). I don't know, I'm not much of a drinker."
"Oh come on. First rounds are on me."
