Chapter One: The Twilight of the Sun and Moon

Author's Note: I had to re-wright the first four or something paragraph's due to my internet sucking. So, I give you, my fifth or so try at writing this story. I just got back from school and I'm doing a New Lunar Republic Role Play at the same time, so bare with me. Also, my limbs are shaving involuntary spasms, I am disoriented and my chair has decided to dance without the help of A.D.D. Also, this happen's prior to Magical Mystery Cure. Like, the episode before. Also after posting this I edited it for what probably what won't be the last time.
Luna sat on her Night Violet cushion waiting for her guest to arrive. For three year's she had been planning how she would tell the pony the truth. She lowered her head to her hooves sighing. "I hope this work's Dawn."
A knock on the black door brought Luna back from her mind, and into the real world. "Come in". In the opening was a Lavender Unicorn Mare, with Purple eye's, and a Violet mane striped Purple and Pink. She looked in awe at the room. To her right, was a large round bed, enough to fit her and her friends with room to spare. In the far left corner was a table covered with make up, paper's, and books. above the desk on the wall hung a mirror with a crescent moon and stars decorating the fancy dark blue mirror. On the light blue walls were diagram's of the star patterns and moon stages. Snug up against the wall to the left of the door, was a black burrow, most likely held with the Royal clothing, currently absent on the Navy Blue mare. For once, her mane hung at a solid light blue. It was much longer than when the mare had come back to Equestria. The walls were a Violet, one much like her mane's. And snugged under a mountain of paper's, was a silver book with a string sticking out of it. Hanging from the Night Blue string, was a crescent moon.
"Twilight. Come, sit. We wish to tell thou something very important." The Lavender Unicorn gave a slight nod before trotting to the Deep Blue pillow across from Luna. Sitting down she looked at the older mare, wondering what story was so important she was called to Canterlot first thing in the morning.
Once Upon a time, there was a princess who had committed a great crime. Her sister was forced to banish her for a thousand year's. Trapped on her life's work, she wandered for many month's. After the first year, she came across a city of Lunar BatPonies. For Hundred's of year's she watched out for the city, protecting it. She watched it grow and prosper, and watched it fall and wilt many times. During a prosperous rule, on her six hundredth year of being the adviser of the ruler, she met a stallion. He was the astronomer of the city, and she fell in love. The two married and had a daughter. By then, the mare only had a few more year's before being consumed by the anger and hate once more so she may return to her home. She was forced to send her child to her home planet, to be birthed once more by a random couple. The moon princess opened her eye's and smiled.
"If Our child was still on the moon, she would just have become a teenager. It has been 27 Equestrian year's since We sent her here. It has been 3 year's since We came back, and 3 year's since We saw Out daughter here in Equestria. We called Thou here of all ponies for a reason Twilight. We will leave Thou to Thinkest this over. But before We leave, did Thou know Thou's 'mother' only 'created' one child?" And with that the night princess got her Royal Regalia, and left the Unicorn with the new information. She looked back at the Lavender Unicorn hoping she hadn't hurt the mare.
Princess... Why didn't you tell me sooner? Twilight look's down at her hooves. It was easy to see what she was trying to say. There were old foals tale's about the Lunar cities, and that Luna had sent her children to Equestria to bring Eternal Night in her absence. But to find that there was some truth in them? No, that wasn't important right now. She looked around. Violet was a color she easily found in the room, Lavender, and Purple were in the room as well. She eyed the journal buried under the paper. No I shouldn't pry. She turned her head away. Her eye's rolled back to the journal. Using her magic, she slowly and carefully removed the journal.
'Day 1.
I have been banished to the moon. I was about to write about my victory when sister snuck up from behind and banished me. I can see the four star's from here. It will take a thousand year's before my return. It hurt's to remember the pain I caused. I was such an idiot. But why? Why did my little ponies ignore me? I will continue to write about my day's on my life's work.' Twilight looked at the piece of paper in front of her. Nightmare Moon was striped from Luna when banished to the Moon. She felt pity for the deep blue mare. She flipped for some time until she reached near the ending. She noticed a picture at the bottom. It had been colored. A unicorn foal wrapped in a pink blanket. Her face was Lavender. Her mane was Violet with Purple and Pink stripe's. Her beady eye's were Purple. She read the entry.
'Year 973.
After a year of carrying my foal in my stomach, I can finally see her and hold her in my hooves. Me and Dawn have agreed to name her Twilight Dusk. But something is tugging at my Heart. Oh well.' Twilight turn's to the next entry. It was covered in tear's, and blood, almost unreadable.
'I have figured out what it is tugging at my heart. The dark force's are getting close. I had an outburst, as a result of my other personality. Dawn Star is no longer with us.. I have to send Twilight away. She will be safer on my home planet. Maybe one day we can be together again. I hope I will no longer be the monster that kil-' The rest was unreadable. Too stained by the tear's and blood. But Twilight had an idea of what happened. Fresh tear's began to stain the page. Twilight put the journal back under the paper's, and wept. A creaking door entered the ear's of Twilight, causing her to sit up and dry her tear's.
"Uh, Lady Twilight? Your Aunt wish's to speak with you." A familiar voice informed her of this, and she turned around to see the mare. It was Dusty, one of the Royal servants. Also a good friend of Twilight's. It hurt to hear her friend, one of the few from her youth, call her Lady Twilight. She smiled and nodded. Dusty waved and mouthed 'see you later' before being replaced by a white alicorn. with a billowing pastel mane. Her Armour was gold with swirls carved in. Purple Diamond's embedded the crown and necklace. The two sat in silence for Faust knew how long. Finally, the sun goddess broke the silence.
"I take it sister has already told you... I- I'm sorry. I had no idea about this until last year. I never imagained this would happen. I'm so sorry." She turned away, ashamed at herself. Twilight rested a hoof on her mentor's shoulder
"It's okay. I never once blamed you." Twilight nuzzled the Princess hoping to comfort the mare. "I just need some time to think. It... It's allot to take in. I think I need to go back home. Tell... Luna I'll come visit when I know what I should do." The Lavender mare got up and left the room. She needed to think about resent events.
A Dragon's Twilight
Twilight sat in the train to her home, thinking about resent event's. She didn't really know what to think though. All the fact's pointed to her being the daughter of Luna. But... Her entire life had been a lie. To learn that allot of big thing's in your life that made you into into the pony you were was just a lie? It wasn't what she was expecting to happen. What would she tell her friend's? What would she tell her... She thought for a moment. Her, honorary family? What would she tell Spike? She slumped in her chair. What did her, mom expect of her? Did she expect her to become a princess? And then she remembered the journal. A tear escaped her eye's. She would never see her father. Even if he was still alive, she
would never know who he was.
Twilight looked out the window watching the rolling hill's fly past her eye's. She closed them, wishing it was all just some bad dream. But she knew even Luna Princess of the Night, and a Dream Walker, could not grant her wish for this to be a dream. She remembered when life was simple. No world saving, no Princess of the Night, nothing but studies. While she would never give even a speck of dust for things to go back the way they were before Luna, she wished for life to be that simple once more. Tear's began to flow freely from her eye's, rolling down her cheek's and falling off her chin. Why did it have to be this way? Why did it have to be her? Why did she have to be the long lost daughter of Princess Luna? Twilight let her head fall in her shaking hooves, her shoulder's shuddering with sob's.
The train shook to a stop, the wheels screeching in place. Twilight sat up and wiped her eye's dry. She got off the seat and trotted to the door. Sniffling, she open's the door and exit's the Friendship express. She looked around, hoping nopony saw her mess of a mane or tear stained coat. Walking along the edge of the town, Twilight dragged herself to the library tree.
"Oh, um, hi Twilight. So, how was your meeting with Princess Luna? If, uh, you don't mind me asking that is." Twilight jumped at the sudden voice. Even if it was sweet and quiet, the mare couldn't help but feel scared at the sudden voice. Turning her head, she saw a butter yellow Pegasus. Her cotton candy pink mane hid her face. The half of the mare's face that could be seen, was worried, sorry and scared. "Oh, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to scare you. To loud?"
"It's okay Flutter Shy, I just didn't expect that is all. I'm sorry, but I need to get home. I'll tell you some other time." Twilight gave a fake smile before scurrying off to the Golden Oak's Library. If she was going to tell the girl's, it had to be when they were together. Twilight held back her tear's. She had to tell the girls. She began to gallop blindly through the street's, to afraid of having to see another pony. From a boutique, a marshmallow white Unicorn watched her fellow Unicorn gallop through the streets.
"Hm, I wonder what has Twilight so worked up. Girl's, when Flutter Shy get's here for her fitting, we need to talk." A group of three ponies went up to the window, watching the scene unfold. There friend, Twilight Sparkle, most organized and clean pony, was blindly running and crying trough the streets of PonyVille.
"Hey Twilight! What's wrong?" A sky blue Pegasus with a Spectrum of color's on her head, called out to the lavender Unicorn. The Unicorn opened her eye's and gasped before galloping away, hoping nopony else saw her.
"What in the hay is wrong with ya Rainbow? Ya don't jus' call out to a pony who has no idea where in Tartarus she's goin'! Ya'll have ta think fore' ya act." An orange mare, with freckles on each cheek, a blonde mane and sour green eye's smacked the Pegasus on the back of the head. "And ya don't go askin' what's got there eye's leakin'!"
Twilight smacked into the wooden door, falling back. Looking around, she rush's to open the door and get inside. The first thing she saw was a purple and green dragon, cleaning the book shelves. His head twisted to see the sudden noise, and a scaly eye brow raised. "Uh, hey Twilight. How was your meeting with the Princess? Did she tell you of some secret evil on the moon? You look like you just saw a ghost." The mare snapped her head left and right making sure nopony was there to get a book.
"No Spike. She told me something worse, world altering, but not deadly. Well, maybe deadly. But I'll tell you tomorrow, oh, and yes, it has to do with the moon." The mare rushed to her room, not wanting to be dragged from her thought's. Twilight sighed. Why was life so hard for her? Why couldn't she just sit on a cushion, drinking her tea as she read a book? Why couldn't she just have a nice picnic with her friend's in a field? Why was life so complicated? Twilight turned to lay on her side. Twilight knew life wasn't this hard for most ponies. Most ponies played with there friend's, worked simple jobs, and never had to get called to a meeting with Royalty. Most ponies just watched the world get saved, and waited for her and her friend's to help save Equestria. Most ponies didn't have to go through the stupid Nobles even if they saved the world three times and helped save the world twice. Twilight growled.
Why, of all ponies, did she have to be in this position? Most ponies didn't have to learn there the daughter of the Princess of the Night while in there early Twenties. There was knock in the doorway, from small, scaly, pudgy claws. Twilight turned her head to face the teenage dragon. "Hey Twilight. I brought you your dinner. A Daffodil Sandwich, just the way you like it." His voice was worried and careful. Twilight smiled. Sitting up, she invited the dragon in.
"Thanks Spike. I think I should tell you about what happened. It's something I want you to hear first." The dragon fidgeted on the StarSwirl themed bed.
"About that, the girls came over. They want to know what was going on. They said you ran away from Flutter Shy and you ran around blindly in the town. You uh, think it might be okay if they listen to?" The mare sat, wishing it was a lie. She didn't want her friend's there, when she explained to her adoptive son why her parent's aren't Mr and Mrs Sparkle. And why her name is not Twilight Sparkle. But she then realized something. She had to tell them, so why not just get it over with and be done with it. Nodding, she turned to the door.
"You can come in girls!"
