Chapter 1: The Party
Vinyl was in her element. This is the place that she could always unwind in, the environment in which she was her strongest. In other words, she was at one of Pinkie Pie's parties. Everybody knew she liked to throw huge parties for no reason and invite everyone, and even if they all knew she was a bit crazy, Ponyville loved parties, and Pinkie was your go-to party pony. The only difference was that she was in a house which she had never been to before, but that wasn't such a big deal. If it had anything to do with the pink mare, her attendance was almost mandatory.
So there she was, bobbing her head to the music and relaxing on the couch, looking at some faces through her trademark purple DJ shades.
Hmm, I spy with my little eye.....Lyra, Bonbon, Carrot Top, Cheerilee, and.....is that Fluttershy? I didn't know she liked parties like this.
She made a mental note to herself to bring her backstage if she ever saw her at another party.
Hmm, who else is here? I don't see any new face—scratch that, who the heck is this?
She watched in silence as a colt who looked the same age as her with a green coat and matching blue mane and tail was chatting up a storm with none other than Pinkie Pie. Intrigued, she decided to walk over and introduce herself.
“.....and there was this huge explosion and we barely got out alive!” Pinkie exclaimed before turning to the side and noticing Vinyl, smirking at her.
“Oh! Hiya Vinyl, I didn’t see you there. Let me introduce you to the new colt here in Ponyville, Record Scrape. I threw this party just to welcome him!”, she said with a smile.
Vinyl raised an eyebrow and asked, “So I take it this is your house?”
“Well, technically it’s my new house here in Ponyville, but basically, yeah.” Record then stuck his hand out. “She already said it, but I like to introduce myself. The name’s Record Scrape. And you?”
She shook it and replied, “Vinyl Scratch. I’m the local DJ around this place.”
Pinkie started beaming out of nowhere as usual and said, “Hey! Scratch and Scrape! What a coincidence, right?”
Record chuckled. “Yeah, I guess so.” A thought then occured to him. “Do you think I’d be able to use the mix table?”
“Well sure. Why wouldn’t you be able to?”, Pinkie asked with a confused look on her face.
He then walked up to the DJ’s booth and asked him if he could use the DJ set and he let him, showing him what kind of sounds and tracks were in the database. He played a song on low volume and picked up the mic, looking like he was about to make a speech.
Vinyl raised an eyebrow, apparently waiting for the guy to screw up and she would have to take over and the crowd would go wild and--
“Hey people! I’m new here and I’d just like to say thanks for coming to my welcoming party. And to show my thanks, I’d like to play a little something I like to call…..Wubstep.
As soon as he finished the word, a sick drop befell everybody in the room, to the point where half of them moved back. Vinyl was one of them.
W-w-what? That was totally unexpected! She stood there in awe as his horn twisted knobs and pushed buttons that Vinyl had never touched before. She decided to go up there and find out who this guy really was.
As she opened the door, she saw him, nodding his head and wearing shades that were similar to hers, only these were red.
He looked up in surprise, only to see that it was Vinyl, in which he then smiled and said, “Oh hey Vinyl, what’s up?”
“What’s up? I want to know who in the hell you really are!” She yelled, getting a little ticked off.
He staggered back from her voice, confused as to why she’d yell at him.
“Why are you so good? Where are you from? What did you do when you were wherever you were before you came here?” She shot him all these questions, and although he looked overwhelmed, she didn’t stop.
“How old are you? When were you born? Where’s your cutie mark? Why are you--”
He cut her off, saying, “Whoa Vinyl, calm down. I’ll tell you, since apparently Pinkie Pie didn’t tell you earlier. I’m from Seaddle, and I was the best DJ around in that region. They used to call me “DJ Scrape”. I’m 23, and my cutie mark isn’t visible because my friend cast a spell on me, making it invisible. I only did that so people wouldn’t notice me, so I could live a more relaxing life. I didn’t always use to look like this.”
Her mouth was gaping wide by the time he was halfway through the short version of his life story.
She then started to blush, being embarrased as hell for almost screaming his ears off, and apologized.
“I-I’m so sorry, Record. I was just so amazed that someone so new to this area was so good at this, something I normally do, and I kinda got a little jealous. I’m really sorry.” She finished with a tear balancing itself between the inside of her eye and the nothingness of air.
He walked up to her and put his hand on her shoulder trying to calm her down. “Hey, Vinyl, don’t worry about it. I understand how you feel. I won’t take any offense to it, on one condition.”
She looked up in surprise. He wasn’t mad at her for any of that?
“What is it?”
He smirked and replied only with a finger that pointed to the mix table, to which she started to smile herself.
“Alright then,” she said, starting to change back to her original self, “I accept your request.”
They then went to the table and Vinyl took the mic, saying a few words before she did her usual catchphrase of “Drop the BASS!”
And with that, they started working their music in time with each other, making a melody like they’d never heard before. Everyone in the house was astonished, immediately dropping what they were saying or doing to watch the duet go at it like never before. The house was shaking from the beats, almost to the point that the house was going to start bouncing.
As they were mixing the music, they noticed that each time someone did something, the other would do something in response, and vice versa. Record was using buttons and and dials that Vinyl had never seen before, and she was giving the same impression to him. They complemented each other in every way, yet their styles were so distinctively different. It created a type of ‘spark’ between them, and they both felt it. Of course, they chose to ignore it, focusing on their task at hand.
He grinned at her as they finished the duet. She smiled too, but she was blushing a little, and he could see it.
“That was pretty sick, huh?”, he said, taking off his headphones.
“Heh, y-yeah, it was.” She was pretty flustered after feeling that jolt between them. What it was, she really couldn’t put her finger on it. She hurriedly decided to start packing up the equipment.
“Well, um, we should start, ah, packing the equipment!”, she said in a loud voice.
“Uh, sure, okay.” He then started to take the speakers and asked his friend Crescent to help him take away the mix table later on, to which he agreed.
As they finished packing up, Vinyl took a step outside of Record’s house, trying to sneak out without being noticed. But she ultimately failed as Record spotted her and stopped her.
“Hey, where you going so early without saying goodbye, huh?”, he asked, grinning.
Vinyl almost fainted at the sound of his voice so close to her.
“Well, I’ll be around for sure. You ever want to talk about something, just drop by and we can...chill, I guess.”, he finished, contemplating something for a second, before dismissing it.
“Well, see ya then!” And with that she left, moving at a medium pace.
Record then walked back inside and went up to his room quickly. As he closed the door, he started to flicker in certain places.
“.....Shit. This spell is starting to wear off faster than I thought it would. I need something to reinforce it.”, he mumbled as he got into his bed and went to sleep, where he dreamed about a certain blue haired mare.
Meanwhile, Vinyl unlocked the door to her home, and ran straight upstairs to her room and into her bed, not really caring about the noise it produced, or whether it would wake up her roommate Octavia.
“What in the world was that? Sure, I’ve done duets before, but nothing like that’s ever happened before. Either way, the music we made was awesome though. I don’t think anybody’s ever been able to create a melody like that with me before.”
Next to Vinyl, Octavia sneezed.
“Well except for Tavi, but she’s different. Anyway, I should hit the hay. Gotta get some sleep.” As she said that, she started to close her eyes and drifted off to sleep, where she dreamt of a handsome green haired colt.

Chapter 2: Hump(ing) Day
Vinyl awoke the next morning, tired as ever, but leapt out of her bed to follow the smell of pancakes. Octavia had made breakfast while Vinyl was sound asleep. She lazily decided to clean up first, heading into the bathroom to freshen up, almost stumbling over from tiredness. She brushed her teeth quickly and turned to the shower behind her.
She hopped in, turned it on and stood in the cold water before it warmed up, which always gave her a feeling of relaxation right through to her bones. She scrubbed herself and washed her mane out,turned off the shower, dried herself off, and finally came down the stairs to see Octavia eating some pancakes with Vinyl’s sitting across from hers.
She smiled over to Vinyl, greeting her casually. “Good Morning, Vinyl. Did you sleep well?”
Vinyl blushed, but got rid of it and shrugged, replying, “Eh…good, I guess.”
Not wanting to explain her kinky dream to the innocent mare in front of her, she quickly changed the subject.
“So, did you do anything interesting yesterday, Tavi? Seeing as you were asleep when I got home.”
Octavia shrugged, “Not really. I won a first place prize in a Cello competition.”
Raising her eyebrow, Vinyl congratulated her roommate. “Nice job. Although it’s not really anything out of the ordinary for such a talented cellist like you. Anything else?”
Octavia shook her head, saying, “Nope, that’s about it. You?”
Vinyl quickly tried to think of what to say, but decided to just come out with it, “Well, last night I met this new colt that was moving in...Pinkie had thrown a party for him. I found out he was another DJ as well, and that he’s uh….well…”
She paused, not sure if she should speak up about the spark or if she should just say it was a fun time. She pondered for a moment.
“....he’s, uh, really good at what he does, and we did a duet together with a mixing table we borrowed from Pinkie. It was fun.”, she finished, watching as Octavia looked like she was trying to deduce a question that would solve a mystery.
“I see. Well then, whatever you say.” Octavia finished eating, then slowly rose and walked over to the sink, where she washed her dishes before getting her shoes on. She looked back at Vinyl, “You know what to do. I’ll be back later. I’m going to practice with a friend for a duet.”
Vinyl lazily nodded, unable to speak because of the amount of pancakes in her mouth. Octavia left the house as Vinyl finished eating, going over to the sink and doing as Octavia had done with her dishes. She got dressed and decided to go for a while.
She left the apartment they shared, walking around outside. She didn’t speak much, but just kept to herself. As she moved further along, she couldn’t stop thinking about that colt...Who was he, really? Why was his music so much different from everyone else’s she’d heard? She was completely confused. She kept moving, trying to forget, but alas it was impossible.
She decided to just go check things out for herself. She walked over to his house, knocking. He answered the door, “Hello? Oh hey Vinyl! What’s up?”
“Oh nothing, just wondering how the new kid on the block was doing. So you want to go take a walk through town?”, she asked, seeing if she could talk with him some more.
“Sure,” he responded, “just let me get ready. I did just wake up, after all. In the meantime, do you want to come in and wait?”
She thought about it for a second before saying, “Thanks. I’d like that.”
He motioned for her to come in and she sat on the nearest couch, the same one she’d been sitting on the day before.
As he went upstairs, she thought about everything she’d been thinking up to this point. Was she really going the right way about this, poking her nose into his business, trying to find out something that might not even be true? Or should she just get to know him first? She was in deep, deep thought about this, so much that she didn’t even notice Record fall down the stairs because he’d been trying to put his pants on halfway down the flight.
“Ouch…..I’m okay. Nothing to worry about here, Vi--” And that’s when he saw her, lost in thoughts he could have never guessed just by looking. To him, she was the most beautiful mare he’d ever seen. Although he knew he probably couldn’t be with her due to his situation, it was still breathtaking. She had a smile on her face, but it was as if she was just masking what she was really thinking about.
“Hey, um, Vinyl?”
No response.
He cleared his throat and tried again, a little louder this time. “Vinyl!”
It seemed to wake her up, as she was startled and stood up immediately. “Huh, what?” Remembering where she was, she apologized. “Sorry about that, Record. I was thinking about something.”
While she was deep in thought, she decided to just let go of all her suspicions and start over from the beginning, as friends, like normal people should.
“Oh, it’s fine,” he assured her, “Are you ready to go?”
“Yeah, I’m ready.”
Stepping out the door, he asked her, “Where do you want to go first?”
She’d already planned out the whole day, deciding to go to the local music store.
“Just follow me, you’ll see soon enough.”
He nodded, and followed her through the streets he had yet to familiarize himself with. As they walked into the food area known as Sugarcube Corner, people saw them and waved, obviously remembering their duet from last night. They were almost at their destination, when they ran into Vinyl’s friend Lyra Heartstrings.
“Oh, hey there Lyra! What’s goin’ down, girl?”, she said, greeting her friend she had known since she had known Octavia, which was like, pre-ponygarten or something.
Noticing the voice, she looked up, smiling when she saw her best friend. “Hi Vinyl. Nothing much, really, just waiting around for Octavia, is all.”
Remembering what her roommate said earlier this morning, she put 2 and 5 together and got 7.
“Oh, so when Tavi said that she was going to do a duet, she meant with you, huh?”
Lyra nodded, “Yeah, that’s right.” She then looked to Vinyl’s right. “And I see you brought your friend with you.”, she added. “What’s up, Record?”
Record looked at her, grinning a “Hi,” then looked towards Vinyl.
“Okay then, Lyra. See you around. Good luck on the duet!” Vinyl continued walking along, her mind still thinking, so much so that they had accidently walked past the music store. She snapped out of her thoughts and looked back towards the music place, “Oh, we passed it. My bad.”
They turned around, heading back. She almost missed it again, but he snapped her back to reality. “Uh, Vinyl, we’re here…”
“Hello, earth to Vinyl…..”
“Huh? Oh, sorry!”
Vinyl kept thinking to herself, trying to pay attention, but something on her mind was preventing her. ‘Ghaa….Why can’t I stop thinking about him?! I’m trying to just ignore it, but I can’t! Jeez….I mean, I know that he’s just so amazing..and cute...and...NO! Stop! Forget about it! Just ignore it, you stupid pervert!’
“So, shall we go in, Vinyl?” Record stood there, just waiting calmly.
“Yeah...right. Let’s go. We can pick up a few things from here and then head to a different place.”
As they walked in, many people noticed them from last night’s party, just like the people outside had. They greeted Derpy, who worked here as a cashier, and walked towards the “Wubstep” aisle. Here, in this aisle, she saw a few other people she recognized, among them Neon, who also grew up with the cyan-haired mare. Record spotted his friend Crescent, and smirked as he was with his marefriend, Riven Radiance, picking out something in the “Romance” section.
Vinyl studied them, tried to imagine herself in that situation with Record, and sighed loudly enough for Record to hear her. He stopped a few feet behind her and looked in the direction she was currently being possessed by. He then again saw his two friends making out, not caring whether or not someone was watching so very closely at every move they made.

Record looked at Vinyl and instantly thought the same thing she was thinking right then and there about him: ‘Boy, would I love to try that with her.’
‘Man, I’d love to do that with Record.’
‘I wonder what she’d say if I tried it?’
‘I wonder what he’d do if I tried it?’
They then looked at each other, blushed, and looked away, more or less embarrassed by their friends’ front row performance.
“Well, it, uh, looks like the store doesn’t have the album I wanted to pick up yet. You see anything you want?”, Vinyl asked, ready to get out of there and to their next destination.
“Nope. Nothing that interests me here.”, Record said quickly.
“What the hell? What’s going on?”, Record yelled. He wasn’t used to this type of this public affection.
“Oh shit, I forgot what today was….”, Vinyl trailed off before finishing it with, “It’s the day after Hearts and Hooves day. The day where everyone starts getting more intimate with their ‘special somepony’. I like to call it ‘Hump Day’.”
Even with the explanation, Record was still bewildered at just how many mares there were compared to the stallions. He spotted a bunch of fillyfoolers out in the streets mixed with the straight couples, which meant that this town was dominated by mares, something that hadn’t been an occurrence where he was from.
“We should....probably get out of here.”, Vinyl suggested, feeling a little hot between the legs, but trying to hide it as best as she could.
What she was really thinking was entirely different.
‘Oh man, I think we might have to cut this little ‘date’ of ours short before I jump the poor guy…..wait….did I just call this a ‘date’? Oh fuck, it’s already messing with my head! I can’t take this much longer!”
Vinyl flinched, feeling the same spark she'd felt from the day before. She started panicking silently and looked for the quickest excuse in her head to leave right at that moment. Seeing the discomfort on Vinyl’s face, Record decided to find out why she looked so troubled.
“What’s the matter, Vinyl? Are you oka--”
This was the best she could come up with: “Uh Record I’m sorry but I can’t be here right now I have to go lay down kind of have a headache bye!!”
And with that she dashed off. But Record knew better, so he chased after her screaming, “Vinyl, wait! You really shouldn’t be running if you have a headache!” But his voice was lost to the wind.
Running after Vinyl, he saw her run into a house that was almost as blue as her mane, with a record disc and equalizer bars on a billboard above it.
‘How the hell did I miss this before?’ , he thought to himself, as he tried to open the door, but it was a failed attempt.
He looked around and saw a few trees next to her house, and strategically decided to jump from one tree to the next, granting him access to the window of her closet-bathroom. Sure, he fell on his ass a few times, but you couldn’t deny he was determined to find out what was wrong with his best friend.
When he finally got in a comfortable and ‘no more falling’ position, he silently jumped through the window and landed quietly in the closet, with the door in front of him probably being the bathroom. He stepped softly around anything that would make any noise, and was about to open the door when he heard moaning from the other side. He stopped immediately, wondering if it was a moan of pain or pleasure. ‘Is she…..masturbating?’ He waited for the next one, and to his surprise, he could make out his name in the moan!
‘Holy shit’ , he thought, ‘She actually feels the same way I do about her! This is good, but should I go through the door and potentially have sex now? Or should I wait for us both to know and tell her about this later?’ He eventually decided to leave, but not without hearing her scream his name as she came on the floor around her.
It was getting late outside, and Record needed to get back to his house and sleep. He was so excited about what would go down tomorrow. So excited, that in fact, he forgot who he really was. As if he really even cared about that anymore.

This took a little longer to write (due to my own laziness and life itself). Also, I kind of forgot to mention a certain somebody who helped me write this, the person who created the OC I'm using in this story. His name is Record Scrape (literally the same as the character in the story), and without him, this wouldn't have been possible.

Chapter 3: The Best Day Ever....sort of.
Chapter 3: The Best Day Ever....sort of.
Vinyl’s POV -- 12:30
This was not a good day. In fact, it was the worst day ever. Why was that, Vinyl asked herself? It was because it was the day after yesterday. What went down yesterday? The unspeakable. The one thing no mare---no, no pony, changeling, or dragon would want someone to even hear about, let alone witness themselves.
Vinyl had been caught getting off. Even worse, by the person she’d been thinking about while she’d been getting off.

How did she figure out all of this? Well, we need to go back to said ‘event’ to find out.
Yesterday
Vinyl rushed into her house, locked the door behind her, and moved to her bathroom as quick as she could, jumping over six steps at once and flinging the door open, then locking it shut. She then opened a secret compartment inside of the cabinet over the toilet that only Octavia, Lyra, Derpy and herself knew how to open.

“Well, anyway, we should get going, or we’ll never leave the house at this rate.”, Octavia said as she looked at her watch, which read 4:30.
“Well, that’s good to hear!” Vinyl smiled. “So, where do you want to go first?”
“Well, Lyra and I were already thinking about going somewhere. Just because I had told you to get ready, didn’t mean that you were necessarily going with me.”
Vinyl blinked twice and stared at her with an “excuse me, what” look on her face.
“Yeah, that’s right. You’re going to go with Record somewhere today. To make up for yesterday’s ‘incident’.”, Lyra stated with a playful attitude.
Oh NO he fucking didn’t.
“Oh, okay, I’ve got no problem with that.”, she said, putting on a fake smile.
Locking the door behind them as they went in opposite directions, Vinyl and Record walked for a good 5 minutes until she couldn’t take it anymore and pushed him against a wall in an alley, who seemed perfectly calm about what just went down.
“What the fuck is your problem? Why would you tell Lyra and Octavia about what happened? How much did you tell them, you backstabbing little--”
By then she was in tears. Seeing her pain, Record decided to stop her.
“Vinyl, look at me. I didn’t tell them anything past the point where you rushed off to your house. I wouldn’t dare think of doing that. And there are reasons behind it. Now are you going to walk with me so I can explain?”, Record said, looking into her eyes, the eyes she’d had a certain thing for the first day she met him.
“Fine.” She sighed, following him reluctantly as he led them alone, unsure what he was going to do next. They exited the alley like nothing had happened and went on their way, to which Record had started walking off in a direction that was away from Ponyville.
Raising her eyebrows, Vinyl started getting a little curious as to where colt was taking her, until he asked her to close her eyes. She did so, and she felt his magic covering her eyes. Now she was very curious. She could feel branches and leaves brushing across her body, so she knew that they were in a part of the Everfree Forest. But the weird thing was that soon enough, she stopped feeling them. Had they come to a clearing?
“You can open your eyes now, Vinyl.”

She ran out the door and teleported outside, running to her house and furiously swinging open the door, startling Octavia and Lyra, who were sitting on the couch, chatting. Twilight did not have a very happy face as of that moment, and looked like she was on duty. Duty that included both Record and Vinyl.
“Good. Now that you’re both here, I want you to come with me to the Ponyville Library.”
Now it was Vinyl’s turn to have a look of confusion on her face. “What for?”, she asked.
“A matter that I cannot discuss here.”
That scared the both of them. It could be anything, really. Or it could be the fact that she knows about Record’s true identity. But there wasn’t any reason to assume, right?
That was totally the look that Record just gave her, right?
25 minutes later ------------------------------
As Record and Vinyl entered the Ponyville Library, which was also Twilight’s place of residence, the place had some sort of…..atmosphere to it. They couldn’t really place it, looking around the huge spiral-like library that had become even bigger thanks to the additions of the newest alicorn. But somehow, it looked exactly the same from the outside. There was a new section of the kitchen that was put in the back to make room for another pantry, the library part of the treehouse was extended, and there was a third floor above Twilight’s own room that nobody but her had ever seen. That is, until today.
“Follow me to my office upstairs, please. We’ve got some important business to take care of.”, Twilight stated as she stopped in front of them.
Vinyl’s brow furrowed. “Well, aren’t you going to lead the way?”
Twilight turned to them and smirked, changing her serious demeanor within a split-second.
“Nah. I’ll take the shortcut.”
And with that, she shot up into the air and flew up to the walkway connecting her room to the new office.
Vinyl and Record looked up, then to each other, then back up.
“Well damn. I’ve gotta say, she has her badass moments from time to time.”
“Yeah, just like a certain mare I know.” Record looked to Vinyl, grinning.
“Yep, ‘cause I’m the baddest!”, she exclaimed.
“What? I was talking about Rainbow Dash.”
Upstairs, Twilight flinched as she heard a heavy thud.
I hope they’re not breaking anything of mine , she thought. Vinyl started up the stairs with Record behind her, a newly acquired lump on his head pulsing every move he made. Looking over to Twilight's bed, she saw the bed plain, with the sheets on the floor, a wet spot on most of them.
Somebody had a pleasant night , Vinyl thought. And so did we......
What a very.....sexual coincidence.
Soon, they arrived at Twilight's office. As they were about to enter the room, Record's hoof stopped at the handle. And both of them knew why.
The familiar feeling of nervousness decided to drop in over their heads. What if they really were about to be revealed to the whole population of Ponyville? Or was it just a coincidence that Twilight had decided to call both of them the night after Vinyl discovered Record’s true form?

The only real reason this took forever was because......well, I'm just lazy like that. Oh, and parents aren't really nice when you don't get good grades. But that's a story I'll save for another time.
