Finally! Today was my first take on the job as a photographer. I need to be at my best if I want to continue this career... even though it really wasn't my passion, but more of a hobby. A hobby of trying out different professions... and also because I can't find a permanent job. I did one time, but being a bank teller wasn't as fun as I thought it would be.
Anyways, I couldn't help but feel nervous. I mean, I'm gambling with one of the most known photographer in Equestria, Photo Finish; the last thing I need to do was to disappoint her, to let her know that I'm not as good as she thought I was.
Wanting to get the butterflies out of my stomach, I glanced out of the window beside me. The view was magnificent... but made me slightly sick, because I'm a stallion who do not mix well with height. But still, who could deny such view? You can see a huge field of green, below the towering mountain as the train snaked steadily upwards; far away from where we're at, a small yet popular town known as "Ponyville" could be seen; the town where the famous element bearers, and Princess Twilight, reside; surrounding the town is a thick forest, the Everfree, filled with things that you wouldn't want to encounter; farther from that, there's a farm, filled with rocks that gave me goose bumps, just like the forest di--
*HONK!*
The loud noise broke my attention from the view. Pulling my head back inside, I saw the conductor, standing in front of the caboose.
"Next stop, Canterlot! Gather your belongings and Saddlebags now!" he informed, before exiting through the door behind him. Well, that made me jump. The train I'm riding is nearing Canterlot; a city said to be filled with elites, and elites only... and I'm not up to the city standards!
Well, I was only gonna be here for a few days or so long, so what the heck?
Turning to my saddlebags, I opened them up, looking over my camera set, pouches full of bits, and some neckties, and a collar that matched my black mane, in case I need to make myself look formal. After making sure that all my belongings were in place, I closed the baggage again, and then waited for the train to make its stop in Canterlot.
The city was even more alluring once you got to see it up-close. Clean street; buildings that were painted radiant colors; flags and banners here and there; electric-powered lights on the sidewalk. It's like the opposite of where I grew up, ex the last thing I said. Well... not that I wish I grew up in this place instead, but the ponies who were littering the should-have-been-beautiful streets of Manehattan had destroyed it for me. At least, the bright lights at late hours made it up for me.
After asking several ponies where the so-called "Cloud 9 Hotel" can be found, a decent looking stallion -- if you have been exposed to ponies who look like walking ornaments, longer than you should, you'll get what I mean -- pointed out the direction for me, unlike what most ponies did.
Heading towards the hostel, I noticed that it isn't as grand as what most resorts in this place look like, but I'm not one to complain about the details, as long as they're the one paying the rent for me. A sign above the five-storey building itself, that read, "Cloud 9 Hotel"; its walls were painted a light blue, patterned by purple and white; the windows were nice and polished, and looked well-kept. In short, the place looked simple, and yet pleasing to the eyes.
Entering through the glass door, a stallion in a suit greeted me, catching me off guard.
"Uh... the room owned by Photo Fi--" I didn't get to finish my sentence as he suddenly yanked my saddle bag from me. "Hey, hey! What do you think you're doing to my bags!?" I tried to keep him from rummaging through my stuff, and yet, to no avail; he's like a dense tree. "Are you even listening!?" No, he wasn't.
He continued to look through my stuff, maintaining his stoic expression while doing so. After a few seconds, he got what he was looking for: a letter with a camera stamp on it. He examined the paper, and then turned to me.
I suddenly froze in place. Few beads of sweat, trickled down from my head. I found it hard to swallow, as it feels like there was a large stone in my throat; of course, you would be like that when there's a large stallion, staring coldly at you through his sunglasses, as if you were a threat.
After what felt like a stare-off of eternity, he lowered down his eyewear, revealing his pair of blue eyes. "Do you have an appointment with Miss Photo Finish?" he asked, in a more deeper voice than what I'd imagined.
"Actually, yes... I'm the photographer Miss Finish hired." If the letter didn't made it too obvious for him.
"Very well," -- he returned me my saddle bag, which was now messed up, and disorganized -- "use the elevator. Her suite is at the top." I quickly followed his order, wanting to avoid being near him..
"Sheesh, it's not like I'm carrying an explosive or anything..." Pressing the desired floor, the elevator started moving up. "Okay, Pico, remember: keep calm, act cool, don't sweat, and most importantly, be at my best," I reassured myself as the lift came to its stop. Taking a long deep breath, letting it out with a loud sigh, I stepped out, prepared to find Photo's suite, only to be surprised that I was already standing in front of the only door on this level. "Wow, a whole floor, just for a single room..."
I cleared my throat for a moment, before knocking softly on the oak door. No respond. I gave it another knock, and it soon had been opened by one of the most famous photographers.
"Yesss? Who are you?" a mare with cyan coat, and silver mane asked in a thick accent.
Stunned by who's in front of me, it took me a few seconds to compose myself. "H-hi! My name is Pico; the photographer you hired!" I tried my best to sound cheerful, ending my introduction with a smile; a cracked smile. Hopefully, Photo Finish was too busy examining me below, rather than looking at me in the face.
"Are you sure you are a professional photographer? I need somepony who could match my skillsss, and fill in for me for two days; not just somepony who could say he's a photographer, just because he can hold a camera."
Well... travelling from Manehattan, to Canterlot was exhausting, so maybe keeping my little secret from her might be worth it. Besides, it's just taking photos. How hard could it be? "Don't fret, Miss Finish. I know my way around in expert photography." Let's just hope I sounded convincing as much as I thought I did.
"Very well! I entrust you with one of my most prized modelz." She gestured me to come inside.
Just a quick glance around the penthouse made me take back what I said about the hotel earlier; the inside of the suite was gorgeous! The first thing that caught my attention was the huge window, adorned by two silky velvet curtains that greeted me as soon as I took a step inside; on my left was the kitchen. complete with utensils and double-sized fridge, as well as various fruits, vegetables, ingredients, and much more; on my right side was -- as I'd guessed -- the living room. Though, its furnitures were moved to the side and replaced by stand lights, a blank photoshoot backdrop, and some various props and clothing to complete the set.
As I continued to admire the room, Photo Finish suddenly yelled, "Golden, where are you!?" a door beside the kitchen opened, revealing a mare with a gold coat, and a bit darker shade on her short, and shaggy mane that looked almost like mine; though it looked good on her, and I couldn't help but feel a slight attraction towards her... of course, she's a model, and no doubt supposed to be beautiful. I even recall seeing her in some covers of fashion magazines that I randomly encounter in stores.
"S-sorry, Miss Finish. I-I was just reading a mail from Silvie," she stammered as she trotted towards us.
"Golden, meet Pico. He shall be my replacement for the next few days, while I'll be making my visit in Fillydelphia for as an honored guest."
"Wow, Pico, you look manly!" blurted Golden, taking me aback slightly. I mean, that was certainly an odd compliment from a mare, so suddenly.
"T-t-thanks... I guess..." I gave her a sheepish smile, still not sure how to take her words.
"Okay now, the rulez are simple: First! I don't want you hurting Golden Brisk; zhe's like a fragile flower... Second! Make sure you keep this place, spotless! Third! Make sure that the photos you'll be taking are top-class! Something that could match my..." she paused for a second or two, "magickz..." and I'd say it'd work, if being dramatic was her aim.
"You can count on me."
"Then I'll be off! The key of this suite is in Golden's possession." Photo Finish exited the room, carrying a suitcase that came from Celestia-knows-where.
I turned to Golden, who had been staring at me for the whole time. "So, you're the famous Golden Brisk?"
"You know me...?"
"Through some talks with the folks." I dropped my saddle bag in front of me, opening it and then bringing out my camera set. "Anyways, do you know how many pictures I need to take? The only info I got was where, when, and what." I mounted the equipment on my shoulder, and then gestured her towards the living room.
"We usually do three or so photos in each attire, just in case," she said.
"Okay then. So, is there anything in here that fits your fancy?"
"Not really... but I'd rather start with something simple." While she started rummaging the pile of clothes, I took the chance to adjust the lights, making sure that the lighting won't be too bright, nor too dim, pointing the heads of two different lamps towards the stage. With a flick of my hoof, I turned the lights on.
Huh... it looked better than expected. "So, Golden, did you find any-..." I trailed off as soon as I saw her. Her golden coat was gleaming in the spotlight, literally, especially her flank, which was raised higher than her upper body, showing of her Cutie Mark, which was a symbol of ♂ in a shape of a heart. "-thing...?" I finished. I had never seen such a coat before.
"I did, and it's not too extravagant either," she replied, as she ascended from the mountain of fabrics. "Though, it won't make me look any manlier..." a long sigh escaped her mouth, before heading towards the room where she came out earlier, with the clothing on her back.
I could see disappointment in her face, though I was too busy admiring her slim figure to even notice it, nor hear her complaining. She shut the door behind her, snapping me out of my trance. I shook my head, gathering back my train of thoughts.
"Did she know I was eyeing her?" I muttered. Removing the thought away from my mind, I just focused back on what I'm hired to do. I gazed at my camera, checking if it was damaged or anything from the earlier harassment. Thank the Goddesses, it's fine. Sometimes, guards just don't know what a permission is. The only problem now was that I forgot to put film inside it.
"Now, where did I drop my bag?" Looking around, I saw it on the floor, near the kitchen. I trotted towards it, picking it up within reach. "There... now for the fi--"
"Ugh...! Why do I have to wear this funny thing in every photoshoot session I have!?" Golden's voice went through the door, and then echoed through the whole room.
"Wow... mares and fashion... I'll never understand them." I let out a chuckle, before trying to place the film inside of the camera. Tough luck, because I dropped it. I trotted after it as it rolled on the ground until it hit the door to Golden's little dressing room. I let out a frustrated grunt, before catching up to the film. I tried to place it inside of the camera again, this time with concentration.
"Got it..." just when I was about to walk back to the set, I once again, heard Golden's voice. But this time, it was a bit more calmer, as if she was giving all of her focus on a single objective.

"Um... Pico, are you alright?" she asked.
I blinked a few times, trying to process what she had just said. "Uh... w-what were you asking again...?"

"Uh... yeah. Never felt better." I tried to look away from her, because she looked like she was starting to feel uncomfortable. "Anyways, I suggest we finish this one fast, so we can move onto the next outfit."
She followed my order, making her way to the set. Just like before, the bright light sparkled brilliantly on her coat. "Okay. Now what?"
"I-I want you to turn your back on me, and then sit on your haunches. Glance over your left shoulder, and stare at the camera. After a long session of photo shooting, we decided to take a break.
"Why don't you slip off of those clothes and take a rest? We'll continue in about an hour," I informed her.
"I would love to. This outfit is much heavier than the last six I wore..." she replied, as she tried to loosen the collar of her apparel. This time, she wore a pink, flamboyant ball gown. The "cuffs" of the attire were hoof-embroidered; a tint of red topped her cheeks, giving her a blush; her mane was straight, except for the end, which was curled slightly; atop of her head was a cute, pink tiara.
"I'm gonna go change now." She headed towards her room, leaving me be.
I sat in the living room, proud of what we had already accomplished. Though there were still more outfits that needs modelling, I had though we could finish it, before the day ends. I gazed at my camera, looking at the photos I took; 28 photos, all in all.
"Let's just hope Photo Finish accepts these pictures," I muttered. I scanned through them, checking for anything wrong with it. Other than some minor blurs, the batch was pretty much okay. Though there were some photose I kept looking back at; specifically, the shots where you can see a glimpse of what's under her attire: a white undergarment. Not as kinky as I hoped for, but the costumes she wore had made up for it.
