It's not a pony tale....

You might think you know about me, and how I became nightmare moon, but do you really know the truth?!! My sister... Celestia... she has told her story, but now it's my turn. I will be heard!

-1000 years ago-

As the sun beamed all over Equestria, and the birds sung their lovely songs in harmony, it was a beautiful day, but was sad and gloomy in so many ways. My sister and I was in the starswirl the bearded archives, looking for some old unfinished spells, when the door flung open.

"Princesses!" A guard called. I turned to my sister and shrugged, confused on what the guard was yelling about.

"uh... yes?" Celestia asked, her voice had gotten very serious.

"Your mother... she asks for you and your little sister, she says it's urgent!" he exclaimed, I was shocked mother wanted to see me, she hardly ever wants to see me. It's always my sister she calls for, so whatever it is, it must be very serious... I glanced at my sister's expression it looked almost worried.

"Tell her we are on our way!" Celestia ordered.

The guard had done what he was told and left immediately, I was so confused, what did mother want to see me for? What was going on?!! I decided to save all my questions for mother.

"Looks like our search will have to be postponed until tomorrow, alright little sis" Celestia said leading the way to mother's room, I just kept quiet, because I was worried, what if mother asks me to RULE over all of Equestria! But what would Tia do? When we reached mother's room there were guards standing everywhere and about every nurse and docter in Equestria."your daughters have arrived, your majesty" said a nurse with white fur and pink hair, I believe her name was nurse redheart.

"Thank you, now may I please speak to them alone?"

"yes your highness" the nurse replied, she motioned her hoof, to signal the others to leave the room, and once they all left it was as quiet as the night. My mother looked weak, and her eyes had a sad sparkling glow to them,

I brushed a few red strands of hair out of her face, then suddenly she looked up and smiled. "I believe the time has came..." my mother whispered, every word she had spoke sounded more like a weeze.

"Time for what!!!" I shouted, my voice was the same volume of the royal canterlot voice, and this was only my speaking voice, Celestia shushed me.

"the time has came for my death."

She paused, before finishing, "I shall give my position as ruler to my eldest, Celestia," I couldn't believe mother had just said that! She was giving the throne to Tia?!! I knew mother always loved Tia more then she had ever LOVED me! Suddenly a constant cough came from my mother and she looked up at the both of us and opened her mouth, yet nothing came out.

"I...Love..."

I couldn't stop the tears from streaming down my cheeks, the guilt built up in my throat making it hard for me to cough up my words." mother?!! MOTHER!!!" I screamed, Tia had put her wing around me, and held me close when my tears started making puddles on the floor, my sister demanded for a guard.

"Take Luna to her room, and have somepony comfort her" Celestia ordered, the gaurd nodded and assisted me to my room, I cried sorrowfully, and awaited for mother to come into my room smiling... but she wasn't.

Its been three months since mother passed, and harmony in Equestria has been maintained, my sister raised the sun for our delighted subjects and they had laughed and played during my sister's beautiful day and had slept through my night. My sister had claimed that if we continued this process, then Equestria would do fine, and I believed her, although I made it a habit to be jealous of my older sister. She was more powerful than anypony in the land, I told myself it was only temporary and that I shouldn't be green with envy, so I decided to just do my job as princess of the night and sooner or later I will be recognized and become the ruler of Equestria!!!
