It took her groggy mind a few minutes to process where she was, and a happy smile came to her face as she felt the warm fabrics of her mattress. She let out a big yawn as her eyes travelled down her bed to the door of her bedroom. Scootaloo's ears then perked up as she heard soft hoofsteps on the cloud surface as a certain pony came up to the top level of the cloud home. Scootaloo then heard a quiet knock on her cloud door as a voice made itself known. "Is my little filly awake?" The voice asked in a curious tone. Scootaloo giggled at the voice before speaking. "Yes mummy," she said in a soft tone as she let out another yawn. Just as she said that, the cloud door creaked open to reveal a yellow pegasus with a fiery orange mane who was smiling warmly at the filly with her gleaming amber irises. Scootaloo smiled as she saw her mother. She had been adopted by Spitfire nearly a year ago and the pair had been inseparable ever since. Spitfire cantered over to the filly as she sat herself up on the bed. Spitfire sat down next to the filly, her extra weight making a considerable dip in the mattress. Spitfire smiled again as she raised a hoof and began stroking her daughter’s mane as she continued to smile warmly. Spitfire spoke, but with a quiet tone in her voice. "So, did you have a good sleep sweetie?" The mare asked. Scootaloo nodded. The pair sat in silence for a little while longer before Scootaloo spoke up. "Mum, where's Dash, usually she would be here by now?" The filly asked in a confused tone as she waited for her mother to answer. Spitfire smiled and leaned down to gently nuzzle her filly before speaking. "Dash had work this morning sweetie, something about Thunderlane fracturing his wing," she explained. Spitfire smiled more broadly as she spoke a bit louder. "So, what do you want for breakfast sweetheart?" She asked kindly. Scootaloo jumped up as her now slightly bigger wings buzzed in excitement. "Oh, can I have waffles!?" She asked curiously but with excitement in her voice. Spitfire giggled as she shook her head playfully at her filly. "Come on sweetie, you've had them most of this week, I can't feed you them forever," she said, laughing. Scootaloo sighed as her wings fell to her sides. "Pwease?" She asked, giving her adoptive mother a set of big, round, puppy-dog eyes. Spitfire couldn't help but smile at her daughter’s adorableness and sighed. "Okay sweetie, you win," Spitfire said with a smile. Scootaloo's smile came back to life as the filly leaned up and hugged the older mare. Spitfire giggled as she hugged her daughter tightly, lifting her up before the they made their way to the kitchen with Spitfire saying, "This is the last time for a week though, okay?" Scootaloo looked up at her mother and nodded happily as they came to the bottom of the steps and into the cloud home’s living quarters, which consisted of a few extra items of furniture since the pair had moved in almost twelve months ago. Scootaloo stared at her mother curiously as she spoke. "So what are we gonna do today mummy?" she asked in an innocent tone. Spitfire shrugged. "I don't know sweetie, what would you like to do today?" She asked the little filly in her hooves. Scootaloo pondered on the thought as the pair came into the kitchen. Spitfire let the orange pegasus down as she went over to the cupboard and opened it to reveal the ingredients she needed to make her daughter’s favorite meal. Scootaloo jumped up onto the chair of the cloud home’s dinner table as she waited eagerly for her delectable breakfast. As Spitfire poured the mixture into the pan, she turned the stove on and began to cook. The smell of the sweet treat began to waft through the air as Scootaloo sat there licking her lips to stop herself from drooling. Spitfire glanced a look over to her daughter and giggled at the sight as the small filly leaned across the table to get as much of the smell as possible. After what felt like forever to Scootaloo, the tasty treat finally made its way over to the table. Spitfire sat down and watched her daughter dig into the fluffy treat. She smiled happily as she thought about how much Scootaloo had grown since she had met her so many months ago, it was only a few inches at best, but it was certainly a change. She was also a lot happier now that she had her own family, giving Spitfire a warm feeling that always seemed to make her smile. Spitfire leaned in as she spoke. "So sweetie, have you decided what it is you want to do today ?" She asked curiously. Scootaloo stopped eating and nodded. "Yeah, I want to spend time with you and Dash, I never get to see you much over the week ‘cause of school," the filly said with a sigh. Spitfire smiled as she leaned closer to the filly and lifted her chin up with a forehoof. She smiled softly before speaking. "Of course you can spend time with me and Dash sweetheart," she said, ruffling the filly's purple mane and eliciting a giggle. Spitfire slumped back on the cloud chair with a smile as Scootaloo continued eating while she thought about the cyan mare in question. Over the last few months, Spitfire had felt her feelings grow for the cyan mare. The more time she spent with the confident pegasus, the more of a feeling she got. It was something Spitfire had never experienced and couldn't really place a hoof on what it was that she was actually feeling. Her thoughts were interrupted when her daughter spoke up again. "So when is Dash coming back?" Scootaloo asked curiously as she raised an eyebrow. Just then a loud thud could be heard from inside the living area of the household, not so long after, a familiar groan vibrated through the cloud layer. Spitfire rolled her eyes playfully as she said, "I think right about now." Just at that moment, the door to the kitchen was opened and a cyan mare with a rainbow mane and tail trudged into the room, holding a forehoof to a sore spot on her head. Scootaloo smiled. "Hey Dash," she said excitedly as she ran over to meet the older mare. Rainbow looked over to the pair and smiled. "Hey sis," she said as the little filly ran over and embraced her surrogate sister. Rainbow’s smirk faded slightly as she spoke up. "Sorry I wasn't here this morning squirt, I had work," she explained as she squeezed the filly tighter. Scootaloo looked up at the cyan mare. "It’s okay Dash," she said plainly as she snuggled into the pegasus’ chest. Spitfire smiled and got up to take the finished plate of waffles to the sink. Dash let Scootaloo down and the filly trotted happily into the living room through the kitchen door. Dash then trotted over and leaned hesitantly on the kitchen worktop as Spitfire started washing the dishes. Spitfire looked up and smirked. "Hello miss Dash, is there something I can help you with?" She asked in a curious tone as she held back a giggle. Dash smiled as she felt the blood rise in her cheeks. "Na, nothin much Spit, what's on the schedule today?" The blue pegasus asked. Spitfire stopped washing the dishes and turned to look at Dash. "Well, Scootaloo wants to do something with us today, sound good ?" She asked hesitantly. Spitfire was relieved when she saw Dash give a confident nod in response as she said, "Sure, so where are we headed?" Spitfire pondered as she looked out of the window in the cloud kitchen. After a few moments she spoke. "How about the lake in Ponyville?" She asked, raising an eyebrow. Dash smiled approvingly at the idea. "Sounds good enough to me," she said happily as Spitfire turned back to the sink and continued to wash and clean the messy plates. Soon after, the two fast flyers made there way into the living room where Scootaloo was already waiting for the pair; sitting on the couch and playing with one of the many cushions. Spitfire smiled. "Are you ready to go sweetheart?" She asked kindly. Scootaloo nodded rapidly. "Yeah, where are we going mum?" She asked. Spitfire opened her mouth to speak, but Dash silenced her as she trotted up to the orange filly and ruffled her mane. "You'll see when we get there," she said excitedly. Scootaloo buzzed her wings happily as she followed the pair to the front door with excitement gleaming in her eyes. Spitfire leaned down so the filly could climb on top of her mother. Even though Scootaloo had bigger wings than before, she still couldn't fly as expertly as her family members and got tired out very easily from her newly developed wings. Spitfire smiled when Scootaloo was securely on her back and gave the filly a light nuzzle before turning to Dash competitively as she flared her wings, ready for action. "Race ya," Spitfire said plainly as she looked over at the cyan mare with a smirk. Dash felt her heart flutter as she heard her idol ask her to race, she felt her cheeks burning again as she nodded, but she quickly regained her voice as she said, "You're so on!" The two speedstars counted down before darting into the sky, speeding off towards their destination. Chapter 2: The Water Works StartChapter 2 - The Water Works (edited) Spitfire and Scootaloo soared alongside Dash as the three came over the small earth pony town, seeing all the market stalls and shops that were strategically placed throughout the town’s main street. They soon passed the old Golden Oaks Library before passing the Apple’s farm. It was then that Spitfire and Dash pointed out the secret location to the excited filly. Scootaloo smiled as she saw the place in question. The three pegasi soon landed outside the sandy edges of Ponyville’s vast, oval shaped lake, which was situated just outside of the small town. The water was calm and shimmering off Celestia's bright sun, which by now was at its peak in the sky. Dash set to jumping into the pool straight away whilst Spitfire gently let Scootaloo off her back before the orange filly galloped towards the older mare in the water. Spitfire sighed happily and sat herself down as she got into her usual routine of relaxing and watching the time go past whilst the two played. She liked this type of freedom and loved just watching the world move by slowly, as it was something she could never even think of doing as a Wonderbolt captain a few months ago. Suddenly Spitfire gasped in surprise when a torrent of cold water covered her frame from mane to tail. She looked over to see a giggling pair of ponies in the water. She grinned as she stood up and started trotting towards them. Dash stopped her giggling fit and looked to see Spitfire lunge at her, bringing the pair down into the water. When they came back to the surface, all three pegasi began to attack each other with splashes of water as they tried to keep as dry as possible. It soon ended up with all three pegasi in their own respective corners of the lake, not daring to look away from their two ‘enemies’ as they closed in. Suddenly Spitfire winked to Scootaloo and Dash didn't have a chance to react as the pair jumped on her in a fit of giggles. After an afternoon of fun, both mares and filly made there way back onto the sandy beach at the side of the lake and all laid down as they began to catch their breaths. Spitfire was the first to speak. "Well that was....fun," she said as the three giggled slightly. Dash nodded. "Yeah, it was even better kicking your flank though," she said with gasp as she breathed in again. Spitfire glared at her friend playfully and jabbed Dash in the ribs, making the mare flinch and try to get the yellow pegasus back. But that ended in Dash leaning too far over and falling on top of the former Wonderbolt captain. It was then that Spitfire's eyes locked with Dash's for the first time and the laughter died down before stopping completely as the pair just kept staring into each other’s eyes, Spitfire felt her heart flutter slightly as she looked at the magenta orbs in front of her. For Dash, a similar thing was happening in her chest as she stared into those burnt amber irises. She just couldn't seem to break away from the trance as her body just forced her to keep staring while she felt her cheeks burn and her breathing return to its out of rythm state. Both ponies kept their gazes locked on each other until a voice racked both their minds, causing the two mares to look away from each other. "Wow, that was awesome!" Scootaloo said as she finally gained control of her voice, her breathing slowed down. Spitfire smiled and slipped out from under the blue mare as she went over to her daughter. Dash looked on as she felt a slight pang in the pit of her chest. Spitfire trotted over to her daughter and nuzzled her soaked mane. "Glad you enjoyed it sweetie, would you like to get something to eat?" she asked in a curious tone. Scootaloo nodded. "Yeah, that would be great," she said as she breathed in another lungful of air. Spitfire smiled and leaned down to help her daughter off the sand covered ground. As the three trudged back into Ponyville, Spitfire's thoughts turned back to the cyan mare, she too felt a pang in her chest as she thought about their very close encounter. For Dash, she was deep in thought from the event as she walked along side the other two pegasi. Dash couldn't get her head around what she was thinking. 'I've never felt like this before, but why can't I just stop thinking about her?" She thought to herself as she kept walking as her mind, blurred, came across all the times she had felt herself go slightly hazy when she saw the yellow mare and couldn't even look at her straight. She felt the feeling rise in her chest again as she kept on thinking of the times she had spent with Spitfire and how happy it had made her feel. Spitfire turned to Dash, who had now stopped dead in her tracks just before the doors to sugarcube corner. "Hey Dash, you okay?" She asked in a concerned tone. Dash blinked a few a times as she returned to reality, she looked up to Spitfire and Scootaloo at the doorstep of the shop. She smiled and nodded before she walked in with them. The three pegasi walked into the famous sweet store. Dash looked over and saw her two friends Rarity and Fluttershy sitting in a corner of the shop as they walked over to the counter at the back of the store. Pinkie Pie came out of the store room with a tray of chocolate cupcakes and set them down before saying "HEY EVERYPONY!" in an excited tone. Spitfire shook her head playfully at the pink pony whilst Dash spoke. "Hey Pinks, could we have a round of that new vanilla cake that you were working on?" She asked excitedly. Pinkie Pie gasped and nodded rapidly with a smile before darting in and out of the kitchen in a flash, balancing a round cake on her back. Pinkie smiled excitedly. "This is my new cake I call it the 'Vanilla Blitz,’ hope you enjoy it!" She said with a smile before shooting off in another blur. Spitfire grinned and took the cake from the counter as she and Scootaloo left to find a table. Meanwhile, Dash glanced a look over to the other element bearers in the corner of the room and silently trotted over to them. As she did, she felt the nerves rise in her chest as she thought about how her friends would react to her feelings about the yellow mare, even though she herself didn't know what she was feeling. Dash breathed in deeply as she approached the pair sitting around the table. Rarity turned around and smiled. "Hello darling, is there anything I can help you with?" She asked. Chapter 3: Feelings Chapter 3 - Feelings (edited) Rarity turned around and smiled. "Hello darling, is there anything I can help you with?" She asked. Dash nodded. "Yeah, could I maybe speak to you and Fluttershy in private?" She asked in a hesitant tone. Rarity raised an eyebrow. "Whatever for darling, here take a seat," the white unicorn said, levitating a chair in her blue aura as the furniture floated over next to Dash. The cyan mare quickly sat down on the chair and slowly looked up to face the two harmony bearers as they leaned in to hear what she had to say. Taking in a deep breath of air, she spoke. "Well, I keep getting these feelings for Spitfire," Dash said as her cheeks burned slightly. Rarity seemed to smirk slightly as she caught on to what the blue pony was talking about. "Okay darling, I'm starting to get what it is your feeling, when does this happen?" The mare asked curiously. Dash glanced over to the yellow mare who was currently talking to Scootaloo, unaware of Dash's wearabouts. She quickly turned back to Rarity and Fluttershy before continuing in a quieter voice. "Well, I usually get these feelings for her when we're closer together," Dash explained as she thought about all the times she had felt her heart rise in her chest when she was around the mare, one of which was very recent. Rarity nodded. "Hmm, okay darling I think I'm just about there, just one last question. When did you start having these feelings?" She asked as she leaned in further. Dash felt the blood rise in her cheeks as she felt the embarrassment of the next question, she spoke up, but only in a whisper. "Maybe about....a few months?" She said hesitantly as she scratched the back of her neck with a forehoof. A large smile started to grow across the unicorn’s face as she sat upright on her chair proudly as she spoke. "I think I know what's bothering you darling," she said confidently. Dash's eyes widened at the statement. "Y-you do?" She asked in a slightly shocked tone. Rarity turned to Fluttershy who had said nothing so far but had been listening to Dash's question and an equal smile adorned her face. She nodded happily before Rarity leaned in and said. "You're in love," the white mare said simply. Dash's mouth dropped as her mind did backflips, how could she be 'in love' with, out of all ponies, 'another mare.’ Dash shook her head before she looked back up to the two ponies in front of her. "Are you sure?" She asked in an astonished tone. Rarity smiled as she put a forehoof on her shoulder. "Positive darling, and it seems like you have been like this for a while," the mare said as she giggled slightly. Dash's mind was a blur, she glanced back over to Spitfire at the other end of the store. She still had yet to notice Dash's disappearance. Rainbow sighed. "Well, what do I do now?" She asked curiously. Dash was surprised when both mares had to hold back their laughter from the question she had just asked. The rainbow maned mare raised an eyebrow. Rarity saw her friend’s concerned look and held back her giggling as she spoke. "Thats not really a question darling, hehe, it’s um, up to you what it is you do, let your heart tell you what's right," she said, placing a hoof on Dash's chest. Dash rolled her eyes. "If it means I have to go all mushy Rare, then you can count me out," she said, getting up off the chair and leaving the other two ponies at the table. Rarity watched the cyan mare leave to the other side of the room as Fluttershy spoke up. "Umm... do you think they'll be okay?" She asked with a hesitant tone. Rarity chuckled slightly before she turned to her friend. "Well, knowing Rainbow Dash, I think it will all end in a disastrous fireball of some sort," the unicorn said, rolling her blue eyes as she levitated her now slightly warm cup of tea. Rainbow walked over to Spitfire and Scootaloo, who by now were halfway through the cake. Dash's mind was still buzzing about her latest information, but she managed to keep it at bay as she opened her mouth. "Hey guys , whats up?" Dash asked, taking a seat on the chair opposite Spitfire. Scootaloo smiled. "Hey Dash, me and mum were talking about how we should start thinking about taking me to flight school next summer," the filly said excitedly as her wings buzzed. Dash smiled as she ruffled the filly's purple mane. "Sounds like a great idea squirt, I would pitch in, but I've got rent to pay," the cyan mare said in a sad tone. Spitfire’s thought was quick to interrupt. "Don't worry about that, I've already payed the rent this month," the yellow pegasus answered as she looked up from her slice of cake. Dash was stunned by this and felt her chest flutter again. "Y-you didn't have to do that Spits," Dash said with a surprised tone. Spitfire giggled. "Well I just want to help you out in anyway I can Dash, you're a great friend," the mare replied. Dash's mind went blank as the words bounced around in her head, sending her mind into overdrive. She started to think about the possibilities of her friends being right about their answers and started to feel slightly dizzy from the frustration of it all. Then a voice that came from the pony who started the problem cut into her mind, bringing her back to reality. "Are you okay Dash?" Spitfire asked as she and Scootaloo looked to the mare in concern. Dash shook her head as she said. "Yeah, I think I'm cool," the rainbow mare replied as she looked between the two, she could see that Spitfire was concerned by the look on her face. Suddenly she spoke. "Is there something on your mind Dash?" She asked as she leaned further across the table. Dash nodded, putting on a happy smile as she kept her lips sealed. Spitfire sighed, knowing she wasn't going to get any information out of her friend, and simply opted to turn to her daughter. "Well sweetie, I think it’s about time we all got home, eh? What do you think Dash?" She asked, returning to her normal, energetic tone as she put the rest of the cake into her saddlebag, which she had brought along for the day. Dash nodded. "Yeah I guess so, come on squirt, you can ride with me on the way home," she said and the filly smiled. Scootaloo got on Dash's back and the three walked out of the door. Dash's mind was still a Chapter 4: An Awkward DinnerChapter 4 - An Awkward Dinner Rainbow Dash opened the door to her cloud home as Spitfire and Scootaloo trotted in behind her with Scootaloo retreating to her room and Spitfire making her way to the homes kitchen. Dash planted herself on the cloud couch as she layed there thinking about the day she had experienced. She would have passed it off as a normal day, but she just couldn't get over that stare that she and Spitfire had shared, she had just seemed to click, still though she was still skeptical about this whole 'love' thing that was buzzing around her mind like an angry parasprite. Meanwhile Spitfire was in the kitchen, she glanced out the slightly opened door and saw the cyan mare laying on the couch. Spitfire was worried about this, Dash had been acting off ever since she and her had locked eyes earlier today at the lake, Spitfire began to wonder if Dash knew about her feelings for her as her hoof that was holding a jug of water began to shake. Spitfire stopped her actions as she put the jug of water as she began to think about the chances of Rainbow actually managing to figuring that out, she smiled and sighed in relief when she knew that the chances of that was very slim. This still made the yellow mare confused as she began to ponder on what else could be troubling the mare. Her eyes widened when another thought came into her mind, what if Dash was feeling the same way. Spitfire smirked as she pushed the thought away like she had done most times with the idea and let out a soft chuckle. let her mind spin to find a more relevant answer as she went back to finishing the food. Meanwhile Scootaloo was upstairs playing in her room, she was also slightly confused about the day so far, to her it had started off just the same as any other day for the past few months for her, but after the lake Dash just seemed to be acting off. Scootaloo wasn't sure why she was acting like that, but she did know it had something to do with the events earlier today. She sighed not really coming up with anything other than it was just Dash having a bad day. Scootaloo put the thought to one side resumed her previous task and set about writing down idea's for new crusades for her and her friends, she had a smile whilst she wrote down some idea's from the top of her head. After some time Spitfire called everyone for dinner, as the three pegasi sat round the table Spitfire opted to sit next to the cyan mare who was still as silent as she had been since they had arrived back at the house. Dash smiled sheepishly as Spitfire sat down next to her. Dash's mind was still focused on what had been said to her at Sugarcube corner, She wanted to say something about it but couldn't. Dash wouldn't admit it to anypony but she was worried that Spitfire didn't feel the same way, she had intended to keep her mouth shut for this evening, but Spitfire wasn't about to let that happen. Spitfire sat up slightly from her meal as she turned to face Dash, "So are you gonna help me take scoots to school tomorrow?" She asked the mare casually. Dash looked up and nodded slightly but not saying a word. Spitfire resisted the urge to frown she passed it off as she resumed eating, after a few moments of silence she tried to ask another question. Spitfire smiled as she spoke, "So did you like the Wonderbolts performance last week then Dash?" she asked curiously. Dash again didn't reply except she gave a mumble of some distant words and another nod of her head. This time Spitfire frowned, she turned to face the cyan mare, "Dash look at me" she asked. Dash didn't resisted and turned to meet two concerned amber eyes. Spitfire leaned in further, "what's wrong Dash, why are you so down?" she asked curiously. Dash put her fake smile on as she spoke, "I'm fine Spit, hehe couldn't be better!" she said cheerfully hoping the former Wonderbolt captain wouldn't see through her disguise. Spitfire though didn't buy it and as Dash turned back to her meal the yellow pegasus held out a foreleg to stop the mare as she spoke again. "Dash please be honest, what's wrong?" Spitfire asked almost pleadingly. Dash felt her heart flutter as her hoof came into contact with Spitfire's. She quickly stood up trying to keep her act going. Dash put her smile back on as she spoke, "Its okay Spitfire I'm cool, nothings wrong" she persisted. Spitfire stood up mimicking the cyan mares stance, "Dash this isn't like you just tell me what's on your mind" she asked almost begging. Spitfire stepped forward and rested a hoof on the rainbow mares shoulder, "please Dash you can tell me anything" She said as she waited for Dash's reply. Dash gulped hard, her insides were now screaming at full force for her to tell the truth, or at least something close to it. Dash's breathing started to become slightly faster she quickly tried to find an answer for the yellow mare. It was then that Dash spotted the kitchen window and saw her escape. "Dash" Spitfire said bringing the pegasus back to reality, Rainbow put her fake smile back on as she quickly made her way to the window as she spoke, "Um yeah thats great Spit look I need to go and um...help feed birds with....Twilight thats it okayseeyoulaterbye!" she said before bursting out of the cloud house as she almost broke the sound barrier. Spitfire sighed heavily as she watched the blue speck fade from the window. Suddenly Scootaloo spoke up, "What just happened mum?" she asked confused. Spitfire turned to face her daughter, "I-I don't know sweetie, I'm sure Dash will be fine though" she said comfortingly to the filly before returning to the table as she began to eat again. As she ate Spitfire's eyes wandered to the empty seat at the table 'I wish you could just tell me what's wrong' she thought to herself as she lost the appetite to eat. Chapter 5: ConversationsChapter 5 - Conversations Rainbow Dash hadn't stopped flying since she had left her cloud home, she only knew of once place where she was sure to at least get a few answers. Dash saw the huge sky city before her, she spotted out familiar places in the big city before spotting a row of houses towards the outskirts of the city she then found a certain house that was sculpted in the same shape as the other houses that surrounded it, the only way Dash knew it was her house was because of the blue mare with an shiny blue mane in a zigzag motion who was sitting in the houses garden reading a book. Dash smiled as she descended to meet her. Dash landed in the back garden, the sound of hooves hitting the ground was enough to arouse the mare sitting on a chair reading, she looked over to the edge of the garden and saw the cyan mare and a warm smile made its way across her face. The blue mare slowly trotted over to the lighter blue pegasus and gave her a warm hug, "hey my little Dashie, fancy seeing you hear" she said with a giggle Dash smiled as she returned the embrace, "hey mum" she said as she rested her head on the mares shoulder. The blue mare's smile faded slightly, "what's wrong hun, you seem down" she said in a concerned tone as she held her pride and joy close. Rainbow sighed, "can we talk, I need to tell you something" she said looking up at the blue mare who smiled and nodded before walking into the house as Rainbow leaned on her mother as she thought about how she was going to tell her mother about her feelings for another mare. -Meanwhile at Dash's cloud home- Spitfire had just put Scootaloo to bed she leaned down and kissed the sleeping filly gently on the forehead before leaving the room. As she closed the door quietly Spitfire was again alone with her thoughts, she tried to find some sort of solution to Rainbow's sudden depression but still couldn't come up with anything. She felt though that it had something to do with her, she then started to think more about telling Dash about her feelings, her head started to spin again causing her a slight pain in her mind Shaking her head Spitfire decided to go and talk to somepony who she knew would have the answers she needed, she then took off in search of the sky city. After a few moments Spitfire found the pony she was looking for, the pink and blue pegasus was charging round a cloud made obstical course just outside the city itself. Spitfire landed on one of the clouds. The pink mare spotted the pony out the corner of her eye, in a few swift motions she flipped up and onto the same cloud as she smiled towards the yellow pegasus. "Hey kid, whats up ?" the mare asked as she raised an eyebrow. Spitfire smiled, "hey Firefly, I need to talk with you" she asked politely. Firefly smiled, "sure thing kid, follow me back to my place we can talk there" the pink mare said. With that Firefly spread her wings and took off with Spitfire following hot on her hooves. -Meanwhile back in Cloudsdale- Dash sat down awkwardly on the cloud couch as her mother sat next to her, Dash kept her eyes on the coffee table as her mother spoke. Dash's mother smiled, "so what's on your mind my little dashie?" she asked kindly. Dash kept her eyes on the table as she made her now or never decision, she breathed in deeply before speaking, "mum I-I like m-mares" Dash said as she felt the weight being lifted off her shoulders some as she let the truth come out. Dash closed her eyes as she waited for what she thought was the inevitable, she thought her mother would reject her as a daughter or that she would be scolded for even thinking like that, but what happened was the complete opposite. Dash felt a pair of wings wrap around her as they pulled her close to the other mare, Dash opened her eyes and looked up to her mother who had not change her smile that was still plastered on her face, she leaned down and nuzzled her daughter's forehead. "Its okay Dashie, I guess me and your father should have talked to you about this awhile ago" her mother explained. Dash looked up at her mother still slightly shocked, "I thought you would be more...well weirded out by all of this" she said astonished. Dash's mother giggled as she shook her head, "my silly filly I don't care if you like mares" she stated as she held her prized possession close. Rainbow had a ghost of a smile as she heard her mother say those words, "but why mum?" she asked curiously. Dash's mum held back a muffled giggle as she spoke, "because its natural honey, its what you think up there and its what you think up there that makes you different to everyone else" she explained to her filly as she tapped the cyan mares forehead expressing her point. Dash started to smile, "so you don't mind then?" she asked her mother. The blue mare shook her head. "Nope, you're my filly dashie and I will always support you, now tell me who is this mare?" Dash's mother asked as she held the rainbow mare close. Dash smirked, "well you know how I've been sending you letters about how Spitfire has come to live with us?" she asked as she heard her mother giggle. Dash looked back up to see her mother ruffle her spiky mane "Well my filly sure knows how to pick them" Dash's mother said with a wink. The pair shared a giggle. The dark blue mare smiled, "so are you going to tell her?" she asked. Dash's smile faded,"T-Thats just the thing, I don't know how, what if she doesn't-" Dash was cut of by her mother "Thats the thing dashie, remember what I said about your Wonderbolts dream, you never know unless you try and if she turns you down thats to bad, but if she says yes you know me and your father and your friends will all support you" she said knowingly. Dash's smile returned to her face as the pair shared another hug, just then a door opened as another voice made itself known. "hello Blitzy I'm home" a voice said as a purple stallion came into the living room, he looked down at Dash with his golden eyes, his iconic rainbow mane hanged to one side of his face as he smiled "Hello dashie what brings my favorite filly home?" he asked as Blitz got up and hugged the stallion Blitz rolled her eyes, "I'll get some dinner, its a long story" she said as she winked at the cyan mare who blushed slightly. -Meanwhile In another part of Cloudsdale- Spitfire closed the door to her idol's cloud home as she walked into the living area of the house. Firefly was already taking up the couch with her legs resting at one end whilst her head rested at the other. Spitfire opted to take the chair as Firefly spoke up. The pink pony smiled, "So what's so important you had to come all the way out to see little old me" Firefly stated with a smirk Spitfire giggled, "well um, I have these feelings for some pony and I needed your advice" she asked hesitantly. Spitfire knew Firefly wouldn't have any good answers but she was her only true friend besides Soarin' and that stallion knew less about girls than Fluttershy knew about Everfree forest. Firefly smirked, "oh you're on the love train kid ?" she said giggling. Spitfire rolled her eyes , "Comon Firefly this is serious" she said in a slightly annoyed tone. Firefly smiled and sat up on her couch as she faced the mare, "Okay kid bring it who's this special stallion then?" she asked as she leaned further towards the yellow mare. Spitfire felt her cheeks go red as she answered the question, "It's um not a stallion its ..... a mare" she said sheepishly. Firefly shook her head as she let out a number of muffled laughs, "Okay sorry kid I'm not good at this stuff" she said. 'You're tellin me' Spitfire thought as she rolled her eyes playfully. Firefly quickly calmed down and spoke up again, "well then kid tell me who this lucky mare is to be getting a wonderbolt such as yourself" she asked as Spitfire blushed again "Well you know Rainbow Dash" Spitfire said in a sheepish tone. Firefly nodded, "oh yeah she's quite hot" "Firefly!" Spitfire said as her eyes widened at the mares comment Firefly put her hooves in the air, "hey I'm just saying" the pink mare replied in a casual tone. Spitfire was slightly stunned, "no not that, you're not shocked about that, you know with me liking mares?" Spitfire asked hesitantly. Firefly nodded, "sure why wouldn't I, so tell me are you going to ask her out?" Firefly said curiously. Spitfire sighed, "That's just it I don't know if she likes me back" she said in a sad tone. Firefly sighed and got up to trot over to her number one fan, sitting next to her on the chair she turned to the yellow mare, "Now kid I know I'm not your mother, nor am I the motherly figure, but since you got no one else I guess I can break out the sappy talk but just this once okay" the pink mare stated. Spitfire nodded. Firefly thought for a moment before speaking, "do you remember the training sessions we used to do?" she asked the younger mare. Spitfire pondered for a moment before nodding allowing Firefly to continue The pink and blue mare smiled, "do you remember what we used to say about doing things that you thought were too hard for you to do?" she asked curiously. Spitfire again pondered on this as she relived the memories before smiled, "yeah I do wasn't it something like you never fear falling off a cliff because Firefly is-" she was stopped by the pink mare "Eh no not that one, it was you never know unless you try" Firefly said as she put a wing around the younger mare. Spitfire was blank for a few moments before she smiled and nodded, "yeah I guess that helps, but what if-" the yellow mare was interrupted again by her idol. "No kid no ifs, buts or any of those other excuses, just tell her and even if its a no then atleast you tried" Firefly stated as she gave the mare a light squeeze from her wing. Spitfire smile grew, "thanks Firefly, I never knew you could be this helpful" she said with a giggle. Firefly shrugged, "neither did I" she said as the pair shared a good laugh, Soon afterwards Spitfire spoke up. "Well I guess I better get home before Dash and Scootaloo wonder where I am" she said as she made her way over to the door. Firefly nodded, "sure thing kid, say hi to the little filly for me" the pink mare said as Spitfire nodded and left in a flash as Firefly slumped back into her chair. "That mare" Firefly said to herself as she let out a soft chuckle. Chapter 6: Back to SchoolChapter 6 - Back to School Scootaloo opened her eyes slowly as she let her mind spin for a few minutes, her eyes tried to force themselves shut when she came to the conclusion that she was back at school today. Scootaloo groaned and rolled over in her covers as to try and get away from her life. Just then there was a knock on her bedroom door, Scootaloo then heard soft footsteps in her room as a pony came up to her bed. Suddenly Scootaloo's fluffy world was torn away from her as Spitfire pulled the covers off the mattress. Scootaloo groaned as she lifted a forehoof to rub the sleep from her eyelids. Spitfire leaned down and nuzzled her filly, "Come on sweetheart it's time to get up" she said in a soft tone as Scootaloo managed to sit herself up on her bed as she opened her eyes fully. The orange filly sighed, "I don't wanna go to school" Scootaloo stated as she folded her hooves. Spitfire rolled her eyes, "come on sweetie, I know schools bad but you still have to go" she said as she nuzzled the filly's cheek. Scootaloo yawned, and got of the bed as she trotted towards the door, "fine" she said is a slightly depressed tone. Spitfire sighed, she knew her daughter hated school and didn't argue about the fact that the filly didn't want to go to school either. Spitfire smiled as she remembered how she was when going to school in Cloudsdale, she shook her head playfully as she chuckled at her past memories as she trotted back down the stairs to the cloud home's kitchen. Spitfire set to work on making herself something to eat, she heard footsteps on the cloud floor behind her, she suspected it was Scootaloo but when she turned around she saw none other than Rainbow Dash standing in front of the doorway to the kitchen. She looked at Spitfire with a sheepish smile. Dash looked at the yellow mare in front of her with a smile, she still wasn't sure how to say anything to her though and even though she did feel less scared now than she had been before she still felt slightly worried about her new found crush. Dash gulped and decided to at least talk to the mare, "h-hey Spit, sorry for acting like a jerk the other day, heh guess I wasn't acting like myself" she said with a slight grin. Spitfire sighed and trotted over to Dash as she embraced the cyan mare. Dash was shocked and gasped slightly from the sudden contact, but she hesitantly put her hooves around the other mare as she returned the embrace happily. Spitfire smiled, "you're forgiven Dash, but if you still wanna talk you know I'm here" she said as she released the embrace and turned back to the cooker in the cloud kitchen. Dash thought about what the yellow mare had said, with a thought she spoke up, "hey um Spit?" she asked in a quiet tone. Spitfire turned around again and raised an eyebrow, "yes Dash?" she asked curiously. Dash fumbled with her forehoof’’s as she spoke, "well actually I was kinda thinking we could talk about it today maybe?" Rainbow asked hesitantly as she waited anxiously for the other mare. A light bulb went off in Spitfire's head when she heard the cyan mare's question, 'Great, maybe I can talk to Dash about my feelings' she thought to herself as a smile spread across her face as she nodded. "That sounds like a great idea, how about we meet up after I come back from the Wonderbolts today, I think Scootaloo's meant to have a sleepover at her friend's house tonight so we could talk then" Spitfire said as the cyan mare nodded happily Dash smiled, "g-great, well I gotta get going Spit, I'll see you later" she said in a more happy tone as she left the kitchen in a flash. Spitfire went back to the cooker to see that the oatmeal was almost starting to burn. She quickly turned the cooker down as Scootaloo trotted into the kitchen with a happier expression on her face. Spitfire poured the oatmeal onto the bowl beside the cooker as she quickly glanced over to the filly pouncing up onto the chair on the dining room table, Spitfire trotted over and set the bowl down before ruffling her daughters purple mane before sitting down opposite the orange filly. Scootaloo smiled as she started eating, Spitfire smiled, "So I take it you like today's meal ?" she asked giggling slightly. The orange filly nodded as she looked up at her mother, "yeah its good, although waffles are much better" she said as Spitfire laughed. Spitfire shook her head playfully at her daughter's antics before returning to the conversation, "So sweetie are you going to that sleepover tonight?" she asked the filly curiously. Scootaloo nodded, "yeah, Its gonna be soo Awesome !" the filly said in a cheerful tone as she slammed her hoofs on the table nearly sending the bowl of oatmeal to the floor. Spitfire smiled and held the bowl that was spinning on the cloud table letting it settle back down as she spoke, "thats great sweetie, so are you going straight after school ?" she asked as Scootaloo began eating again. Scootaloo nodded, "yeah, I'm going to Rarity's place" the filly explained as she finished eating the rest of the meal and sitting up on her chair. Spitfire smiled, "great sweetie, you remember to be good" she said as she ruffled the filly's mane again before getting up and taking the bowl back over to the sink. Scootaloo smiled brightly and nodded before leaving to get ready for school. Not too long afterwards Spitfire trotted over to the entrance of the cloud home. She made sure she had everything for work before calling on her daughter from the bottom of the stairs. "Scootaloo!" Spitfire said as she waited for a reply. "I'm coming mummy" Scootaloo said as she quickly descended the stairs to meet the yellow pegasus, her saddlebags seemed extra full today. Spitfire raised an eyebrow, "What's in the bags sweetheart?" she asked confused. Scootaloo smiled as she looked at the bulging bags, "oh I’m taking all the things i need for the crusades we're gonna try tonight" the filly said excitedly. Spitfire rolled her eyes 'May Celestia have mercy on you Rarity" she thought with a chuckle. She quickly turned back to the filly and leaned down so she could climb onto her mothers back before Spitfire spoke up. "So you ready for school sweetie?" she asked kindly. Scootaloo huffed and nodded, "as ready as I'll ever be" she said rolling her eyes, Spitfire giggled before she opened the door before shutting it behind them as she flared her wings as headed off in the direction of Ponyville. Chapter 7: Trouble plus Diamonds equal DisasterChapter 7 - Trouble + Diamonds = Disaster Scootaloo carefully got off her mothers back as the pair landed at the school grounds , it was still early and the first few parents were making there way to the schoolhouse. Spitfire leaned down and hugged the filly, "Have a great day Sweetheart, I'll see you tomorrow" the pegasus said to her adoptive daughter. Scootaloo smiled and nodded in the embrace, "I will mummy, I love you" she said releasing the embrace. Spitfire smiled and nuzzled the filly's mane, "mummy loves you too, now go have fun!" she said happily. Scootaloo nodded and trotted off into the schoolhouse, Spitfire grinned and took off towards cloudsdale as the sun started to slowly rise into the sky. Scootaloo made her way through the schoolhouse as she looked around at the many drawings that filled the hallway, many of which she and her friends had drawn together, she smiled at the memories before she came to her class door. Scootaloo opened the door to her classroom she trotted inside to see her two friends sitting in deep conversation as the orange pegasus trotted up to them. "Hey girls!" the orange filly said as she sat up on her desk next to the other two fillies in the class, Sweetie Belle exchanged curious looks between her and Applebloom, Scootaloo was confused by this and spoke up "Whats up guys?" Scootaloo asked raising her eyebrow. Sweetie Belle opened her mouth to reply, but suddenly the door to the classroom revealing a pink filly accompanied by a grey mare with a similar look of wealth in her features. The pink filly smiled, "Well well well, if it isn't the two blank flanks and the filly foolers daughter" she sneered as she walked into the class with the grey filly following closely by her side. Scootaloo looked between her friends who seemed to have curious expressions on their faces, she was now even more confused than she was before. Turning back to the pink filly, Scootaloo scowled, "What are you talking about Diamond?" she asked in a slightly annoyed tone. Diamond Tiara smirked, as the grey filly behind her snickered slightly, "well lets just say a certain blank flank's sister wouldn't keep her mouth shut" she said rolling her eyes. "Hey!" Sweetie Belle protested, she looked back at Scootaloo as she tried to explain. "Look Scoots I don't know what happened but my sister just came home and started rambling on about Rainbow Dash liking Spitfire or something" the white unicorn stated as she tried to get anything out of her stunned friend. Scootaloo just sat there with a blank expression on her face as her brian clicked, it all seemed clear now, why her surrogate sister had been acting so off lately, It all made sense now, but for Scootaloo the idea did seem a little off but she didn't seem disgusted by the act. Then Scootaloo started to ponder further, she smiled to herself as she thought about the prospect of Dash also becoming her mother, just then she was brought back to reality by the sound of a slightly panicked unicorn "Scootaloo, are you okay?" Sweetie Belle asked curiously. Scootaloo blinked a few times before responding. "Yeah I'm fine, but what's so bad about that?" the orange pegasus questioned. Diamond Tiara tried to contain her laughter but failed to as she and her grey friend fell to the floor in a fit of giggles. Scootaloo saw this and sighed still confused about why they were finding the fact so funny, even if the subject of 'romance' wanted to make the little orange filly choke on her own cereal she still couldn't seem to work out how it could seem funny to others. Just then a maroon mare came into the classroom with her usual happy smile which adorned her face as she trotted over to her desk, she was soon followed by the rest of the foals from Scootaloo's class. Diamond Tiara and her accomplice moved to the back of the room as the rest of the class filled the empty desk with Sweetie Belle leaving her desk to make way for Rumble who sat up giving a smile in Scootaloo's direction. Scootaloo smiled nervously before the maroon mare made her way to the front of the class and spoke up. "Okay Class, today we shall be learning about all the types of ponies and their different abilities" The maroon mare spoke before turning to the chalkboard and writing on its black surface, Scootaloo let her head rest on her hoof as she watched the seconds tick by on the clock. This was going to be a long day. -A Few Hours Later- Finally the bell for the end of the school day sounded, and Scootaloo felt a wash of relief pour over her, She hadn't seen much of Diamond Tiara and her friend since the start of the school day, however the orange filly knew they were up to something, but she didn't care she had too much on her mind right now for lame old pranks. Scootaloo smiled as she made her way out into the hallway of the schoolhouse to see her equally excited friends already ready and waiting for her with big smiles adorning their faces. Scootaloo smiled as she galloped to meet up with her fellow crusaders, "Hey guys" she said excitedly as she came up to the pair. "Hey Scootaloo, y'all ready for sum crusadin tonight ?" Applebloom asked with an energetic tone. Scootaloo nodded rapidly, "yeah tonight is gonna be awesome!" the orange filly said as she flapped her wings in excitement. As the three fillies knocked their hooves together and shouted their club name a Pink filly was giggling to herself silently behind a corner in the hallway. Turning around she opened the hatch to the lower level of the schoolhouse, as she trotted down the stairs her friend was already there waiting for her. "Hey Diamond, I've got the papers" The grey filly said happily as she passed the folder to her friend. Diamond smiled, "Thank you SilverSpoon, now all we need to do is put this in the machine" the bully said evilly as she looked around the basement of the schoolhouse until she spied a blue ink press in the corner of the room. The pink filly trotted over to the large piece of machinery and threw the contents into the print before turning the large piece of metal. SilverSpoon looked over at the pink filly, "So why are we doing this again ?" she asked curiously. Diamond looked over to her friend and smirked ,"because they ruined me, and to pay them back I'm going to ruin them" the filly said as she giggled evilly as a stack of papers piled up with a startling front page title which was signed by none other than 'Gabby Gums' Chapter 8: Love is Such a Hard WordChapter 8 - Love is such a hard word ! The sun was now setting across Ponyville, Dash was already waiting for Spitfire in her cloud home. She sat on the couch in the living room, her head was alive with images of the yellow mare as she thought about what she was going to say to her crush, she felt as if it seemed easy enough but she knew it was still going to be a risky question, even after what her mother said, Dash didn’t want to lose Spitfire Just at that moment an opening door signalled the arrival of another pony, Dash looked up to see the yellow mare in question as she walked into the cloud home. Spitfire looked at Dash with a smirk as she spoke, "Hey there Dash, so you finally decided what it is thats bugging you so much?" the pegasus asked as she made her way to the couch that Dash was now sitting straight on. Spitfire sat down next to Dash and looked at her. Dash slowly turned her head to face the mare, her amber eyes gleaming towards the cyan mare, Dash gulped, this was a lot easier said than done. Clearing her throat Dash spoke up, "Well Spit its kinda... I dunno..weird" the cyan mare explained as she fumbled with her hooves. Spitfire raised an eyebrow at this, "What do you mean Dash?" she asked curiously. Dash pondered for a few moments before responding, "well, before I can tell you I need to ask you a few things first" the mare responded as she waited anxiously for the Wonderbolt manager to reply. Spitfire was slightly confused by the rainbow maned mare's question. She now started to worry that the problem was about her, she kept her cool for now and nodded her head happily. Dash smiled before continuing, "Well my first question is what do you think of me as a friend" Dash said curiously as she looked over to her crush. Spitfire thought for a moment, many things came to her mind but she searched around for a sentence that hopefully wouldn't be too awkward for the mare sitting in front of her. Finally Spitfire spoke up, "Well I guess you're funny, kind, loyal, fast, and much cooler than the other pegasi I used to hang around with" She replied with a genuine smile. Dash's heart fluttered at the sound of Spitfire's kind words and she felt her cheeks burn slightly as she nodded, "Okay and one last question what would you say about mares liking mares?" Dash asked hesitantly as she blushed more out of embarrassment at her question. Spitfire's eyes widened in confusion at the thought 'why is she asking me all these questions' she asked herself. Then it hit her, Spitfire turned around fully on the cloud couch in surprise. Spitfire spoke with slight astonishment "D-Dash, do you like mares?" she asked ? Rainbow's body tensed up at the question, she looked over at Spitfire who now had a look of shock on her face. At that point Rainbow felt her heart break and her mind shatter being replaced with the now rising embarrassment, she had tried but failed. Dash quickly got up from the couch, "Sorry Spitfire I shouldn't have asked that" she said quickly as she tried to put a fake smile on as she slowly backed away. By now Spitfire was totally convinced, "Dash tell me what's-" she was cut off by the cyan mare as she made her way to the exit of the cloud house. Dash waved her hooves dismissively, "Its fine Spit you just forget I said anything" she said frantically. Spitfire though was having none of it this time, she too got up off the couch and advanced towards the cyan mare. Suddenly Dash darted out of the window, Spitfire shouted, "Dash wait!" but it was too late. Grunting slightly Spitfire pulled a determined expression as she flared her wings as she said to herself 'not this time.' With that the yellow mare bolted from the house and set off in hot pursuit after her cyan friend. Spitfire soared through the sky at a lightnings pace as she kept up with the blue spec in front of her. Dash hadn't noticed the yellow mare behind her and her tears were already flowing down her face as her heart ached. She looked around for a suitable landing spot further away from town so she could hopefully not be disturbed. Finding a suitable cloud Dash descended and landed on the fluffy white surface in a heap as she let the tears fall. Dash's hopes were smashed as she thought about the recent events. "She probably thinks I'm crazy now" Dash said quietly to herself as she sat upright on the cloud and wiped a few tears from her muzzle as she continued. "Stupid, why am I so stupid as to think the Spitfire would love a hopeless mare muncher like me" Dash almost spat as she kept deep within her thoughts, not hearing the footsteps on the cloud behind her. Dash sighed, "She probably never wants to see me again" she finished as she looked off into a random direction as she became utterly silent for the next few moments. Suddenly Dash jumped as a voice spoke, "well Dash I wasn't expecting that" Spitfire said approaching from behind the mare. Dash turned around to face her, "what the fact that I think I had a chance with you" she asked in a slightly sad yet annoyed tone as she realized that Spitfire had heard everything that she had just said. Spitfire shook her head playfully as she continued, "heh, thats the biggest bunch of horse apples I've heard in awhile" she replied as she came right up to the mare. Dash felt her heart rise back up in her chest and the ache being replaced by a sea of new found hope. Dash blinked a few times, "w-wait you mean you like me too, I mean not like me but like l-" Dash was cut off from her sentence when Spitfire cupped her soft yellow hoof around Dash's cheek before pressing her lips firmly against Rainbow’s. Dash let out a muffled squeak in surprise before her eyelids fluttered shut as she melted into the yellow mare’s kiss. Spitfire kept her eyes closed as she pushed her tongue into Dash's mouth. Rainbow gasped at first but slowly accepted the advancement and copied the older mares actions, to Dash it seemed like it lasted forever and would continue to last for eternity, but like all great things they had to end soon enough. Dash let out a breathless gasp when Spitfire pulled away from her, ending the cyan mares first ever kiss, now the pair were only just a few inches apart. Dash tried to think of anything to reply to the feeling that she was experiencing as she felt her heart thump in her chest. Spitfire smirked again as she stared into the magenta eyes of her crush as she gently rested a hoof on her shoulder she breathed in deeply before letting the truth pour out,"Dash, I've had a crush on you for a while now but I didn't know if you liked me back, I was hoping to talk to you about it sometime, but when you started getting all down I decided not to go any further with the idea, but when I visited Firefly she taught me a very important lesson and well lets just say I couldn't leave the mare I love hangin" she finished with her hoof softly tracing up Dash's shoulder and coming to rest on her cyan cheek again. Dash smiled as her heart swelled, she couldn't describe the feeling other than she knew it was really sappy. Moving away from that feeling she decided to let her mind pour out as she stared towards those big amber eyes that she had admired for so long. "Spitfire, I know this is gonna sound sappy but I-I love you too, and I've kinda been feeling the same way, after the lake I guess I just went overboard and I couldn't get my mind to stop thinking about you, I went to my parents house after yesterdays dinner and I was told a great lesson too, and all I'm saying is, Spitfire will you be my mare friend?" the cyan mare said blushing slightly from embarrassment as she did. An even bigger smile adorned Spitfire's face as she leaned back in kissing Dash a lot more passionately than before. Dash leaned into the kiss as Spitfire wrapped her wings around the mare in a soft cocoon of feathers, Dash felt a smile tug at her lips as she finally felt the weight lift of her shoulders as she felt the pain of the last few days slip below the cloud beneath them. Soon Spitfire pulled back as she and Dash grasped some much needed air. Dash leaned in and nuzzled Spitfire's neck before resting there as Spitfire kept her wings tightly wrapped around her. Suddenly Dash spoke up, "So is that a yes or a no ?" she asked. Spitfire couldn’t hold in the laughter and soon burst out in giggles as Dash followed. Spitfire leaned down and lightly kissed Dash's forehead as she nodded, "of course, I would love to be your mare friend Dash" she said with a smile as the pair shared another nuzzle. Spitfire smiled as she watched Dash lean back onto her neck, a smirk tugged at her lips as her mind skipped past a few thoughts. After a few moments Spitfire looked down at the cyan mare and spoke up. "It's getting cold out here, why don't we head back hmm?" she asked giving her new mare friend her best set of bedroom eyes. Dash blushed slightly but grinned and nodded, "sure thing Spit" she said getting up and flaring her wings as she playfully trotted to the end of the cloud. Just before she left Dash turned around and smirked, "but first you gotta catch me" she said with a wink before blasting off in the direction of her cloud home. Spitfire grinned back as she launched of the cloud quickly as she darted off after the mare she loved. Chapter 9: Hearing The NewsChapter 9 - Waking up and Finding Out (edited) Scootaloo's eyes cracked open slightly as the bright morning sun intruded into her sleeping bag. She yawned before unzipping the bag and seeing her two friends mimicking her tired out actions. Scootaloo was first to break the silence in the room, "Good Morning" she said with a dull yawn. Sweetie Belle was next to speak, "Good Morning, is there school today?" she asked curiously. At that moment a set of hoofsteps could be heard from outside the room. The hooves stopped just before the door before a blue aura engulfed the frame and the door swung open revealing a white mare with a purple mane. She smiled at the three little ponies in the room. "Rise and shine my little ponies, School is in an hour" Rarity said in a sing-song voice as she trotted back down the stairs. Applebloom groaned before speaking, "Next time we're havin a sleepover at the weekend" she said as she stretched her small hooves out before getting out of her sleeping bag. Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo looked at each other's tired expressions before nodding in agreement. Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle followed suit and made their own attempts to get out of their warm and comforting beds. Once they were out the three made their way to the bedroom's door before trudging slowly down the stairs of the house. Applebloom was first to set foot in the lower level of the boutique. She scanned the room and found a set of pancakes on the house's dining room table. Applebloom stared at the delectable breakfast, she didn't move an inch and was soon knocked over by two fillies who had come down the stairs unaware of their paralyzed friend. Rubbing her head Scootaloo looked over to Apple Bloom with an apologetic face, "Sorry there AB" she said with a groan as her hoof made contact with the sore spot on her forehead. Apple Bloom nodded in acceptance and trotted over with the two other fillies to the table in the house. Jumping up onto the three chairs they saw the delectable treats, the smell wafted through the air to reach their taste buds making their mouths water. All three fillies reached for the treats at once fighting over every last piece, soon they all had equal amounts on their plates and the three fillies began to eat. After a few moments all three fillies had finished off their breakfast's. Scootaloo leaned back on her chair as she inspected the rest of the house's kitchen. It was then that she noticed a familiar headline on the paper next to the kitchen's sink. Scootaloo got off the chair and made her way over to the kitchen top, jumping onto the cabinet she glanced a look over the towns paper which read the words 'Gabby Gums has Returned' Scootaloo's eyes widened at this as she read further down the page to see the article. She was even more shocked now. Hello ponies !, its me Gabby Gums Well actually its just Scootaloo today but lets get started. Today I found out about the latest couple in Ponyville courtesy of a good friend. Spitfire and Rainbow Dash, yeah I know right my own Mother and Sister !, I can tell you've just choked on your morning coffee so I've got your attention. So did they ask me if I was comfortable about this? No they did not and if they had this is what I would have said- Scootaloo closed her eyes shut tightly as she looked away from the paper, she couldn't read anymore. Sweetie Belle and Applebloom looked over and saw their distressed friend and slowly got up and trotted over to her. Sweetie Belle raised an eyebrow, "Scoots are you okay ?" she asked curiously. Scootaloo didn't respond, she felt like crying. Somepony had just taken away her chance to have Rainbow Dash as a mother or even the chance to have her happy again. She felt the tears come to her eyelids but something else gripped her, it was fear. Scootaloo thought about what Spitfire and Dash would say about this, she didn't write the article but anypony reading it would think otherwise. She had to act fast. Scootaloo opened her eyes and rushed to the front door of the boutique, if she could get back to the cloud home in time, she could explain herself before her family got a chance to read it. Sweetie Belle watched Scootaloo rush out the door and turned a quizzical look towards Applebloom, "Why's Scootaloo acting like that?" she questioned. Applebloom shook her head, "I don't know y'all but I'd say its something bad" she answered as the pair then gazed up at the paper still sitting on the kitchen worktop. -Meanwhile at Rainbow's Cloud Home Rainbow Dash opened her eyes as she looked out the window to see Celestia's sun slowly rising into the morning sky. She then started to smell something cooking downstairs. The smell came through the cloud floor and into Dash's muzzle making her mouth begin to water. Slowly rising out of bed She made her way downstairs to the cloud homes Kitchen. Dash opened the door to the kitchen to see the love of her life just setting a plate of pancakes down on the dining table, she looked over at Dash and smiled happily as she trotted over to her. Dash smiled as Spitfire trotted over to her and the pair shared a nuzzle. Spitfire smiled, "hey, I made you you're favrioute" she said happily as she gestured to the treat on the table. Dash raised an eyebrow, "How did you know pancakes are my favrioute?" she asked. Spitfire giggled and kissed Dash on the cheek, "come on Dash, who doesn't like pancakes?" she said with a smirk as she walked back to the table with her. Dash sat down on one of the chairs whilst Spitfire sat next to her. "So then I have a question" Spitfire said as she sat down. Dash turned to look at her, "What is it?" she asked curiously. Spitfire leaned in and whispered, "did you enjoy last night?" she asked quizically. Dash blushed from her ears to cheeks as she recalled the memories, after a few moments she spoke, "maybe" she said in a sheepish tone. Spitfire smiled and nuzzled her lover, "I'm glad then" she said as she leaned back on the chair and looked back down at her own meal. Dash waited a few moments before asking a question that had been burning in the back of her mind since the day she had a crush on Spitfire, "S-Spit, since when did you start crushing on me?" she asked blushing slightly. Spitfire thought for a moment before smiling, "remember the day when we had all our friends over for that dinner party?" she asked. Dash smiled as she remebered the day of antics and nodded, she was surprised at just how long ago that had been and looked over at Spitfire astonished. Spitfire smiled, "So then, d-do you want to tell everyone now or ?" she asked curiously. Dash thought for a moment before answering, "I think we should tell our friends, but the first pony to know should be your daughter" Dash said with a smile. Spitfire smirked, "she's also your sister, and you never know she might be your daughter someday to" she said with a wink. Dash smiled and went back to eating, but soon Spitfire spoke up again, "So Dash I never asked, why do you like me?" she said leaning closer to Dash again. Rainbow thought for a few moments before replying, "I guess I just saw you and I just said...wow" she said with a slight blush. Spitfire raised an eyebrow, "why wow ?" she asked with a slight giggle. Dash smiled and leaned in cathing Spitfire of guard with a kiss, Spitfire stopped laughing as there lips met and silence fell over the room again as the pair sat there for a few moments locked in eachothers lips. Soon though Dash retreated leaving the yellow pegasus slightly breathless. Dash smiled as she leaned back on her chair, "Because you are wow" She said before returning to eating her meal. Spitfire smiled and got up off the chair as she made her way to the door, just before she left she leaned into whisper again, "that's very sweet Dash, your my wow too" giving her a kiss behind the ear she said, I'll see you tonight, I love you" she said Dash smiled, "I love you too" she said wholeheartedly. Spitfire smiled and winked at Dash before leaving the cyan mare in the kitchen and making her way towards the door Spitfire opened the door and flared her wings ready to fly to work, it was then she saw the paper on the cloud floor just outside the front of the house, she leaned down and read the title. She was shocked at what she saw. Chapter 10: Picking up The PiecesChapter 10 - Picking up Pieces Scootaloo galloped her way home through the towns center. She looked around the earth pony village in shock to see the school paper on every doorstep of every house in the town. 'got to get home fast' Scootaloo said to herself as she kept galloping through the town. Scootaloo past the town hall just as the clock struck making the small pegasus jump from her mind back to reality. She glanced back at the towns clock to see she just had an hour before school, but she didn't care. After another few minutes of intensive running, Scootaloo was finally on the outskirts of town as she came up to the fluffy white cloud house in the sky. 'please please don't be too late' Scootaloo thought as she flapped her wings so she could hover up to the step of the cloud home though it took a long time and a lot of strength before the small pegasus finally made it onto the front step of the home. Taking huge breaths of much needed air Scootaloo managed to stand up on all fours before hesitantly pushing the door of the cloud house open. -A Few Moments Before- Spitfire was completely shocked at what she was reading, could her own daughter have really written this she thought. Picking the newspaper up she solemnly headed back inside to where Dash was still eating breakfast, the cyan mare looked up at Spitfire as she walked back into the kitchen. Dash raised an eyebrow "I thought you were off to work?" she asked confused. Spitfire showed no expression still shocked at the article she had just read and instead just threw the paper on the table for the rainbow maned mare to read. Dash's eyes widened as she first read the title before scanning the page beneath it. Dash turned a sad look when she finished reading and looked back over to Spitfire who by now was sitting at the chair opposite her just looking straight down at the table below. Dash tried to get her head around what Scootaloo meant, she never seemed to be unhappy when Spitfire and Dash were together, she wasn't upset when Dash and Spitfire would race together or eating next to each other, it just all seemed a bit too hazy for Dash. The cyan mare looked back over at Spitfire who was still in her thoughts. She leaned over and nuzzled her cheek softly to get her attention, Spitfire rose slowly and turned to face Dash. Dash sighed, "Spit it just doesn't sound like her" she said with sadness in her tone. Spitfire nodded in agreement, "but why would she write that?" Spitfire questioned still shaking her head in denial. Dash sighed as she thought harder about the events of the past week, she only knew of two ponies that had any information on Spitfire and Dash's relationship. It was then that Dash realized who the 'friend' in the article was and she had been with Scootaloo the whole night. "Rarity" Dash moaned as she facehoofed in annoyance before speaking again, "come on Spit we need to go and find Rarity and Scootaloo" she said in determined tone looking over at Spitfire as she got up off the chair and held out a forehoof. Spitfire looked up and nodded in agreement as she took hold of Dash's hoof and got up of the chair before the two walked down the hallway to the cloud homes entrance. Scootaloo walked into the house, she saw no signs of anypony in there. She sighed knowing her hopes of getting there in time were probably over. It was then that Scootaloo pondered on whether or not Spitfire or Dash had actually got the newspaper, her hopes raised further when she looked back at the entrance and found no signs of the school paper on the doorstep. Scootaloo pulled a determined face and set to looking round the house for any evidence of her family, she checked the living room first as she scanned the couches and other accessories for any signs of life or newspaper. Scootaloo's hopes raised further when she realized there was no sign of the newspaper in the living area of the house, but then Scootaloo's heart sunk when she remembered the kitchen. Slowly but surely the small pegasus trotted into the kitchen, she scanned the worktops before her head turned to the dining room table. Scootaloo hopped up onto the chair and searched the table, it didn't take her long to find the newspaper sat next to one of the far chairs of the table. Her heart shattered and her hopes were lost as she slowly walked along the table towards the item and inspected the page. It was outlined in big bold letters of the paper she had just read back at Rarity's house and not to mention the article that went with it. Scootaloo felt tears well up in her eyes again as she looked down to see the faint dried up tear marks of another pegasus. The little filly's legs started to shake and she opted to sit on her flanks as her eyes kept fixed on the page that was a threat to the family she loved. It was at that moment that Scootaloo felt the long accumulated tears etch their way down her small cheeks and onto the table below. Scootaloo felt like she could sit there for ever in her thoughts, but it was the sound of a distant bell from the town that aroused the filly, she turned her head to the clock in the kitchen and realized she was now going to be late for school, she didn't care though. Scootaloo just turned her head back to the table solemnly as she stared down at the paper again as long lost thoughts and ideas from many months ago came back to her as silence overtook her world. Chapter 11: InvestigationChapter 11 - Investigating Spitfire and Rainbow Dash dodged through the morning clouds as to not get spotted by towns ponies below, they hadn't wanted to reveal their relationship to the whole town in one day let alone have their own family member writing in the paper saying she hated it. Soon the two pegasi reached a cloud just outside the dressmaker's shop known as Carousel boutique. Spitfire looked around the area and saw there were no ponies in the vicinity, she looked back over to Dash and nodded signalling for them to dive down onto the front step of the shop. Dash took a deep breath before hesitantly knocking on the door and waiting for the pony to open the door. She glanced a quick look over at Spitfire who gave an uneasy smile before the door in front of the cyan mare opened to reveal the white unicorn that they were looking for. Rarity smiled, "Oh my gosh its the happy couple!" she said clopping her hooves together as she squealed like a school filly. Spitfire turned to look at Dash who smirked and rolled her eyes before looking back at Rarity who by now had stopped jumping around enough for Dash to speak, "Hey Rarity is Scootaloo still here?" she asked raising an eyebrow. Rarity put a hoof to her chin as she pondered before turning her head to see two fillies emerging from the stairs of the boutique. Rarity turned a confused look towards the two fillies, "girls where is Scootaloo?" she questioned. Both Sweetie Belle and AppleBloom looked at each other with a knowing glance before the smaller white unicorn spoke, "I don't know what happened sis, one minute Scoots was reading the school newspaper and the next minute she was out the door" she replied with a slightly confused tone, Apple Bloom nodded in approval. Spitfire sighed, this just didn't make sense at all, why would Scootaloo do any of this. Dash saw the stress emanating from her lovers amber eyes. She too knew there was something up with this whole story, looking back at Rarity she spoke up again, "Rares who did you speak to about me and Spit?" she asked raising an eyebrow curiously. Rarity's smiled faded slightly as she noticed the faces of both ponies, she then felt a pang of guilt grip her stomach she looked down as she spoke, "Oh I’m so so sorry Rainbow Dash... I didn't realize you wanted to keep it a secret... my greatest apologies darling I hope you can-" Rainbow interrupted the mare, "Yeah I forgive you Rares but this is serious who did you tell?" she asked again. Rarity pondered for a few moments before she spoke. "Hmm… Oh yes! It was this nice little filly who came into my shop the other day for a new dress...we got talking and well I might have let a few things slip out here and there but thats pretty much" Rarity finished with small smile. Spitfire was next to speak, "Rarity what was the fillies name?" she asked curiously. Rarity thought for a moment as she spelled out a few words, "I remember it was something like….T-Tiara?" she said. As the words left her mouth both fillies behind the white mare gasped in horror, "Diamond Tiara!" they both shrieked in unison, Rarity turned back to the fillies and nodded. Sweetie Belle frowned, "Sis remember all those nasty things I told you about at school, that was her!" she yelled. Rarity turned around with a confused look, "She seemed quite alright to me" the older sibling protested. Whilst the three ponies argued, Dash turned around and trotted over to Spitfire who now had a more of an angry look than a stressed one. Dash leaned in a nuzzled Spitfire before smirking,"You're gonna kill her aren't you?" she said raising an eyebrow Spitfire let some of her tension fade before turning to Rainbow, "One thing I know is she's going to get what's coming to her, but we need to find Scootaloo first, she could be anywhere" the yellow mare said with hint of worry in her voice. Dash nodded in agreement as she turned back to the argument still raging behind her, "Hey guys if you see Scoot then come and get us okay?" she asked. The three looked over to the cyan mare and nodded happily before going straight back to their argument. Spitfire turned and flared her wings and trotted away from the building before she jumped into the air and powered off into the sky whilst Dash shot off to the school, she had a bone to pick with a certain pink filly. Spitfire searched across the town and not seeing a single sign of her daughter, fear started to well up in her gut as she desperately kept searching across the town, she glanced a look across the sky in front of her and spotted their cloud house out of the corner of her eye. Spitfire knew it was a long shot but she couldn't pass up the opportunity to at least check the place before she continued her search. The yellow mare landed on the front step of the cloud home to see the door slightly ajar, a lump swelled in her throat as she put a hoof on the door and slowly opened it and was thankful it didn't make any noises when it opened. Spitfire looked through the living area of the house and saw no signs of the orange filly, she then heard a faint noise come from the kitchen. Spitfire trotted up to the kitchen door and placed her ear on the cloud surface as she heard the faint sound of whimpering coming from through the cloud layer. She quickly put a hoof to the the door and threw it open revealing her daughter sitting on the dinning table of the cloud kitchen, her small wings hung limply to her sides as she looked down onto the now soaked newspaper. The small orange pegasus looked over to Spitfire with red, waterlogged eyes as tears streamed down her face. The orange pegasus looked destroyed as she kept staring at the mare in sorrow. Spitfire felt her heart tear slightly as Scootaloo breathed shakily before saying "Mummy...w-we need to talk" Chapter 12: SorrowChapter 12 - I'm Sorry “....Mummy...w-we need to talk" These words echoed in Spitfire’s mind. She shook her head and turned her attention back to the crying filly in front of her. Scootaloo had kept her bloodshot eyes on the yellow mare until they became too heavy to hold up, as her vision lowered to that of the table she continued her crying. Spitfire quietly trotted over to the sobbing filly while Scootaloo just kept mumbling something under her breath, her voice hitching with every word. Spitfire closed in on the tiny filly, wrapping her wings around her protectively as she lifted the crying filly off the table and onto her chest. Scootaloo, surprised by her mother's actions, looked up and was greeted by a warm smile. Shocked by this sudden affection Scootaloo spoke up, "Mummy I-I thought you would be mad at me ?" she asked with slight confusion. Spitfire continued to smile as she leaned down to gently nuzzle the filly's ear and spoke, "Why would I be angry sweetheart, I know it wasn't you who wrote that article" she said knowingly. Scootaloo was astonished by this, "but how did yo-" Spitfire hushed her before explaining, "Me and Dash did a little investigating this morning and lets just say a certain filly is going to get what's coming to her" Spitfire said as she gently held the filly close, she could felt her breathing become slightly more natural. Scootaloo could feel a wave of warmth flood her body as her mother hugged her tightly. She hugged back as the pair sat there in silence as the tension seeped out of the room. After a few moments of peaceful silence Scootaloo spoke up, "so you know who did it?" she asked curiously. Spitfire nodded, "yep and your big sister is gonna make sure she never bothers you again" she said ruffling the filly's purple mane making her giggle as her trademark smile came back to her face. -Meanwhile In Ponyville- Dash soared over the skies of the earth pony town as she scanned for her destination which was the school building just outside of town. She glanced around before finding the building in question. Dash soared over the location and saw the foals playing around the grounds of the red building, she spotted the pink filly in question and dived downwards to the school. Diamond Tiara was doing her usual rounds of teasing blank flanks whilst her accomplice Silver spoon trotted happily beside her. So far things had gone well for the resident town bully, she seemed to have gotten away with her revenge plan as well as having her father off her back about the last incident she got involved in. However her peaceful day was interrupted by a loud thud on the grassy surface a few feet in front of the two fillies making them jump in fear, Diamond then saw a flash of multicolour before she found herself staring face to face with Rainbow Dash who was Ponyville’s resident athlete and speedster who also had the strongest buck besides Applejack but was still enough to knock a pony to the other side of town. Diamonds eyes constricted in size as her only accomplice galloped off to the other end of the playground, the pink filly backed away slightly before she sank to the floor under Dash's glare as the older mare rose up over the smaller filly as her wings flared. Dash leaned into so she was now muzzle to muzzle with the filly before she spoke, "I thought you might have learned your lesson after last time’s little incident, but this time it's personal" she said her tone like dripping lava as she leaned in even closer as the filly coward under her Dash continued, "I'm going to give you one warning and if you ever cross it I will make sure your cutie mark will be nothing more than a scar on your sorry flank" she said growling. Diamond managed to nod. Rainbow let the anger fill her body as she spoke up "If you ever come near my little sister again I will find you!" she said angrily before advancing on the filly further making her yelp and topple over as Dash spoke the last few words "And if you ever do anything like that again or I find you made my sis upset you'll wish you were never born" Dash finished as she left the the filly cowering on the ground as she leaned back up to her full height before she spoke again "Do I make myself clear?" Dash said with her anger coming back slightly, Diamond nodded frantically before Dash grunted like a bull before turning away and flying back off into the sky leaving the pink filly in a puddle of bright yellow liquid whilst her class gathered round her as they tried to hold in their laughter. Dash sighed as she came back up through the clouds, she soared through the skies once again as she rocketed back to her house figuring that Spitfire would have ended the search by now, she was prepared for the worst that Scootaloo might have fled the town. -A Few Moments Later- Dash landed on the front step of the cloud home and pushed the door open as she let herself in. She was happy to hear laughter coming from the living area of the house and smiled as she saw her and Spitfire playing a game of Ponies and Snakes on the coffee table. Scootaloo looked over to Dash and smiled, "Hey sis did you get the pony?" she asked excitedly. Dash smirked and nodded, "I think she got what she deserved and besides" she said picking up Scootaloo and ruffling her mane, "No pony messes with my sister" she said proudly as Scootaloo giggled. Spitfire smiled as she watched the two, Dash caught Spitfires eye and smirked as she held out a free wing as she held the orange filly in the other whilst saying, "come on Spit, room for one more" she said tempting the yellow mare. Spitfire giggled and got up to join in with the hug as the three snuggled together happily in the embrace, Scootaloo had a beaming smile from ear to ear as she thought this was her dream family and it was one she would treasure for the rest of her life. Chapter 14: Happy Birthday Scootaloo!Chapter 14 - Happy Birthday Scootaloo ! (part 1) It had been a week since the newspaper scandal and since then things had been running smoothly for the family of three, Although the week hadn't come without its problems. The first hurdle was telling everypony about the newspaper article, since its release ponies had been questioning what was happening between the three. Luckily for Scootaloo her mother and sister took care of most of the work meaning she didn't have to worry so much as she had been over the last few days, soon enough everypony learned the truth and not too long after things had settled down about the families relationship. Another hurdle for Spitfire especially had been telling Scootaloo about her and Dash, whilst it did take a long time to explain as well as talking about a lot of embarrassing moments it all worked out with Scootaloo smiling and saying she didn't care about the relationship and was just happy to be her daughter. The last jump was by far the biggest and involved Diamond Tiara and her father that she had blabbed to about the incident with Rainbow, the brown stallion was at first angry and stood off with Spitfire and Rainbow Dash in Ponyville central park for a good few heated moments before finally settling with the true story about why the cyan mare had been so angry, though Diamond had also gone to mrs Cheerilee about the incident with Rainbow after hearing both sides of the story mrs Cheerilee made a deal with both ponies that Rainbow wouldn't come near Diamond again and that the towns bully was to stay away from Scootaloo in return. So far things had worked out great for both parties. And so now a week on it was the special day that the family had been preparing for, Scootaloo's birthday. The little orange pegasus had been excited all week about her first real birthday and almost couldn't get to sleep the night before, but now the special day for the filly had finally arrived. Scootaloo's eyes slowly opened as she found herself in a world of white covers and the softness of the cloud bed beneath her, it was then her eyes came to rest on the door just in front of the bed. Scootaloo focused her eyes to see a familiar cutie mark engraved into the door. Scootaloo's eyes widened as she realized her location 'why am I in Rainbow's bed?' she asked herself. Just then the filly heard a growl from behind the white sheets of covers which surrounded the bed, her purple eyes constricted as the growl became louder and two amber eyes made themselves known to the startled filly. Suddenly the growl stopped and was quickly replaced by a fit of giggles as the face of Spitfire revealed itself from the bed covers, Scootaloo sighed in relief at the sight of her mother and the once open mouth of shock turned back to a smile. Spitfire smiled back before saying, "Happy Birthday Scootaloo" as she leaned down and kissed the filly's cheek affectionately before giving her a light nuzzle. Just then a groan came from another set of wrapped sheets on the bed, both pegasi looked over to see a Rainbow maned mare reveal herself from her deep slumber, her magenta eyes slowly revealed themselves as she awoke to be met with the two ponies who meant the world to her. Spitfire smirked and leaned down to kiss her love on the muzzle, "Good Morning Dashie" she said in a soft whisper as she let the cyan mare make herself more awake. Dash smiled and nuzzled her in return before looking over at Scootaloo at the bottom of the bed. Rainbow smiled, "Hey happy birthday Scoots" she said still a little groggy from her sleep. Scootaloo smiled, "thanks Rainbow, thanks Mum" she said leaping over into the mares embrace. Spitfire smiled as she ruffled the fillies mane as the three sat in peaceful silence for the next few moments. After a while Rainbow spoke up, "so Scoots you wanna open your presents?" she asked with a smirk, Scootaloo gasped and nodded rapidly. Spitfire leaned down to the underside of the bed and soon re emerged with a neatly wrapped box with a golden bow on top, she handed it over towards the young filly, Scootaloo smiled and took the package from her mother and tore the wrapping paper off to reveal a brand new helmet for her Scooter. Scootaloo gasped as she inspected the box and was excited beyond words, she quickly rushed forward and wrapped her legs around Spitfire tightly, the yellow mare smiled and said "I'm glad you like it sweetie" she said ruffling the fillies mane. Dash rolled her eyes and put on her famous grin as she said, "Just wait until you see what your awesome sister got ya" as she too leaned down under the cloud bed and soon came back up with an even bigger box, Scootaloo's eyes widened at the gift and her smile became bigger as she continued to look at the present in awe. Dash smirked, "well what are ya waiting for squirt, open it!" she said excitedly. Scootaloo nodded and rushed forward to rip off the paper that had been wrapped around the present masking its contents, soon Scootaloo had ripped off the remaining strands of paper and threw the remains of the wrapping paper off to one side as she looked back to see her present, Her jaw dropped at what she saw. Scootaloo looked at the gleaming box which housed an item which was shown by an image on the box, it was a brand new scooter and was a later and better model of the one she currently owned. The small filly squealed in excitement before Dashing over to hug her older sister with a great amount of force as Spitfire watched on with a smile. Soon Dash eased the embrace and the filly went back to staring at the scooter in awe, Spitfire leaned over and nuzzled the filly's ear grabbing her attention. Scootaloo looked over to Spitfire as she spoke, "So sweetie, we've got a party today with Pinkie Pie and the others, but first would you like it if I made my favourite filly some waffles?" she asked curiously. Scootaloo smiled and nodded to which Spitfire smiled in return before picking the filly up in her wings and taking her downstairs to the kitchen as a cyan mare followed close behind. Chapter 13: Central Park Stand OffChapter 13 - Central Park Stand Off The evening light shone over the skies of Ponyville as two mares and a filly wandered through the central park of the earth pony town as they chatted about different upcoming events for the weeks ahead, the peaceful silence in the autumn was relaxing for the three pegasi as they trotted along together happily. Spitfire looked down at the orange filly trotting close beside her whilst a blue wing wrapped itself around her midsection. Spitfire smiled, "so are you excited about your birthday Scootaloo ?" she asked kindly. The little orange filly nodded frantically, "Yeah I can't wait for my first real birthday !" she said happily as she buzzed her wings in joy. Spitfire smiled and nodded as she leaned her head onto Rainbow's neck slightly as the three kept walking down the dirt path of the vast park. Spitfire had a question that had been eating away at the back of her mind for some time, after making her decision she looked up to Rainbow Dash and spoke, "So how did you deal with Diamond exactly?" the yellow mare asked curiously. Dash smirked and held back her will to laugh as she remembered the days earlier events involving the pink filly, she was about to open her mouth to speak when another voice made its way over to the three in a very hostile tone. "Hey there you are!" a voice shouted across the park making all three ponies turn their heads to the sound of the unknown voice to see a light brown stallion with a black mane and two very familiar blue eyes, his expression was similar to a manticore as he closed in on the three. Spitfire took a defencive pose in front of Scootaloo whilst Dash defended both of the pegasi as the brown stallion marched up to the three ponies and stood muzzle to muzzle with the cyan mare. Dash growled, "What do you want Filthy?" she asked in a similar hostile tone to the one the stallion had been using only a few moments ago. Filthy Rich grunted, he hated being called by his first name which only made his blood start to boil, "What you did to my Daughter at the school today was unacceptable" he shouted as he stared down with the mare. Rainbow snarled, "She had what was coming to her and if you knew the truth you wouldn't be yelling right now" she answered back as she flared her wings to protect the ponies behind her if the stallion in front of her was to lose his temper. Instead of answering back Filthy Rich softened up a little at the latest wave of news but still held his ground as he spoke, "what are you talking about?" he asked in a slightly less angry tone. Rainbow kept her glare as she spoke, "Your daughter posted that article in the newspaper today so unless you want me to go to mayor mare about this you tell your daughter to stay away from my sister" she replied closing her wings back up as she too realized no fight was going to come out of this. Filthy Rich looked into the eyes of the mare before him, years in the trade had taught him how to judge when a pony was lying and he knew that the cyan mare was speaking the truth, he sighed realizing defeat as he stepped a pace back letting the high tensions of the argument evaporate into the air. Filthy Rich nodded softly realizing defeat, "I understand Miss Dash and I assure you that this will not happen again, however I will appreciate it next time if you come to me rather than leave my child in a puddle of her own urine" he said flatly. Dash nodded firmly in response and with that Filthy Rich turned and mumbled something to himself as she trotted back off down the dirt pathway towards the village. The three pegasi relaxed as the stallion made his way out of sight, Rainbow Dash turned to Spitfire and Scootaloo and rolled her eyes as she brushed the conflict off and kept walking with the other two as she re-wrapped her wing around the yellow mare which she loved so much. Scootaloo raised an eyebrow, "So Dash, what was Diamonds dad talking about when he said Diamond Tiara was in a puddle of her own u-" Dash cut her off, "Its nothing squirt, don't sweat it I'm sure Diamond will be just fine" she said as Spitfire let out a muffled giggle as Dash kept back her own laughs. Scootaloo didn't question her sisters answer and simply just went back to smiling happily as they kept trotting down the road. After a few more minutes of peaceful silence Spitfire spoke up, "So have you any idea what you want for your birthday Scoots?" she asked quizzically. Scootaloo pondered for a moment before she spoke, "I wouldn't mind having a new scooter" she asked politely but with a hint of hope in her voice. Spitfire smiled and winked at her filly causing Scootaloo to giggle in excitement at the thought of getting a new scooter to wow her friends with. After a few more moments of walking the three ponies watched as the sun over the horizon of equestria finally dipped leaving the world to the darkness of the sky. Spitfire sighed and looked over to her filly, "Come on sweetie I'll take you back" she said leaning down so the little filly could clamber onto her back safely. After Scootaloo was secure Spitfire turned to Dash with a smile, the rainbow maned mare smirked and nodded as she flared her wings before the two shot off into the night sky leaving a very productive day behind.
Chapter 1: A New DayChapter 1 - A New Day (edited) Scootaloo slowly opened her eyes on a lazy Sunday morning.
Dash's mind was still a
Chapter 4: An Awkward DinnerChapter 4 - An Awkward Dinner Rainbow Dash opened the door to her cloud home as Spitfire and Scootaloo trotted in behind her with Scootaloo retreating to her room and Spitfire making her way to the homes kitchen.
Diamond looked over to her friend and smirked ,"because they ruined me, and to pay them back I'm going to ruin them" the filly said as she giggled evilly as a stack of papers piled up with a startling front page title which was signed by none other than 'Gabby Gums'
Chapter 8: Love is Such a Hard WordChapter 8 - Love is such a hard word !
Spitfire felt her heart tear slightly as Scootaloo breathed shakily before saying "Mummy...w-we need to talk"
Chapter 12: SorrowChapter 12 - I'm Sorry “....Mummy...w-we need to talk" These words echoed in Spitfire’s mind.
