Spilled Blood, Drink the Whole Cup

Hello everyone. This is my first story on this site, and my first story that's centered more around the Politics of Equestria and the Poetry of Politics as a whole. I hope you enjoy it, and forgive me if it isn't the best story, as I am just an amateur.

For over a thousand years, the Kingdom of Equestria has been ruled under a Monarchy with two faces, but only one truly in power. Though the land has been peaceful the entire time, it has not been happy. So many people have been upset by it, because the semi-Fascist government not only allows the citizens no right to decide the laws, but gives those citizens no rights even.
Princess Luna, the lesser face of the kingdom, has always wished for the government to be that of a Democratic sort, so that the people may live their lives as they wish. However, she has never had the power to do so. Just over a thousand years ago, she had even tried to lead a great Revolution against the greater Princess, Celestia, and her foolish, blindly obedient minions. However, so few of the people were wise enough, or brave enough, to join Luna in the battle, that she quickly lost the war after a mere 3 weeks, and was banished to the Moon as punishment.
All the tomes that revealed the true history of Equestria were either destroyed, or edited to favor the Tyrant of the Sun. About 500 years after Luna's banishment, the last few Tomes of Truth were discovered by the citizens of Canterlot, in a long-lost vault hidden beneath the Castle. Soon, conspiracy theories began going around, beliefs that the Mare in the Moon was real, and that she had been forced into banishment by a damnable Tyrant.
However, all the stories were Poetry and tales of Mythical tendencies, and so were widely believed to be of Fiction. Though, that was enough to frighten the "great" Princess.
She was worried the Truth would come free, and so she took away all Freedom of Speech, Expression, et cetera. The people were annoyed, angry, hateful. However, they had no way to express it. So, they have had to deal with such frustration for over 500 years.
When Luna returned to Equestria many years ago, Celestia decided to return Freedom of Speech and the like, so that Luna would not become curious. However, with secret police taking prisoner any who seemed dangerous to Celestia's complete and total authority, there still was only freedom on the surface.
However, recently, homosexuality has been banned. When two lovers' engagement becomes illegal, they join with others who are angered by the lack of Freedom of all kinds, and fight back, with Luna at the head of the revolution.
In this Kingdom, a Fascist Monarchy may very well be replaced by a truly beautiful thing. No longer a Kingdom... No longer a nation... A United Country.
