The ticking of a brown wooden clock ran through my ears as my heart started to beat with it. I stared down at the scattered letters which were made into words that eventually became the sentences of a book. My claw ran across the shapes designed to be letters, finding something that would interest me. Nothing by now, as I've read these books over and over. Usually they say if you lived in a library, you'd have an unlimited amount of books.
Honestly, I've read each and every book on these shelves about three times. That's what you get when your best friend is a princess and a student of Princess Celestia. She raised me, and made me read them over and over. My green eyes flickered with the ongoing ticks, starting a new paragraph on the page. Little did I know the ticks would turn into a loud chime. It was noon, best time to stay inside. Well... Scientifically.
"Spike!" My eyes widened with surprise as I heard a familiar voice, with an alarming tone. I quickly shut the book with a thunk and stood up. I began to work my way there, half of it running through the dusty (which is partly my fault) library, the other half just walking steadily and slowly. I peak my head through the door way to see a tall mare. Her straight mane, in the colour of a twilight, was quite long and her back was turned to me. I feel a frown spread across my face as I saw her purple slim body turn towards me. "Spike? Why did it take you so long?!" She snaps at me, her fierce lavender eyes glaring at me, getting their daggers and stabbing me continuously.
"I...um..." I blink, running through my mind to find an excuse. "The floor was full of books, so it took me really long to... walk over here." Her eyebrow raised and she walked over to the door and stared at the floor. Spotless. Oh crap. Ooh crap.
"Spike." She smirked and chuckled. "Nice try, but don't be late again, alright?" I shake my head, knowing that I will always be late in her eyes.
Brilliant blue eyes. I can't look away from her eyes. They gleamed and shimmered. I know she's talking but her eyes.... They're impossible to ignore. She looked beautiful today. Oh wait. She's always beautiful since day one. By day one, I mean since we moved to Ponyville. Day one was more than three years ago. Her purple mane has always been amazing, curls that keep lopping. Her soft fur was whiter than the snow that fell on Hearth Warming Eve... And she's so elegant and graceful-
"Spike?" her sweet voice coos my name. My ears perk up, since she addressed me. "Did you listen to what I was saying?" Crap. I was obsessing over how she looked, that I didn't listen. Crap crap crap... Celestia, please help me.
"Uhh, yeah. I think...." I murmur, trying to think up of something Rarity would say. "Red velvet fabric with small diamonds?" Her red lips spread into a smile and nodded.
"That would be lovely for my new dress for my latest line! Thank you, Spike!" Thank Celestia... I thought I'd be dead...
