"The blood of love."

"Hmm, it's getting dark. I wonder if I should go check on Vinyl," says Xavier, who had been a simple man until he found himself in Equestria one day. Nopony knew how he got there, but they accepted him into their society. He befriended Vinyl Scratch because of their taste in music. As he walks to Vinyl's door, he hears something from behind. As he turns, he catches a glimpse of what looks like two red glowing... eyes?

Xavier ‒ getting nervous ‒ backs away slowly.

"Run! Get away!" Vinyl screams with warning as she comes into the light, her blood-matted face glistening in the moonlight. Xavier slowly begins to step backwards. He opens his mouth to say something, but she creeps closer and closer, and he can’t bring himself to speak.

"RUN!!" She hisses as she begins to gallop quicker after the cowering Xavier. He runs as fast as he can, but not fast enough. She cuts him off as he runs toward a house. He tries to stop and run the other way, but he trips and falls.

"Vinyl, I don't know what’s going on. Please, stop. You’re scaring me." Xavier says with a wavering voice.

"I can’t help it," Vinyl says, “I tried to avoid getting you at all cost, but the Everfree Forest is all out of animals... I need blood! I need it! I want your blood! COME HERE! GIVE ME BLOOD!"

She jumps onto Xavier, throws him at the house and pins him to the wall. "I'm so sorry. I wish I didn't have to, but now we can live together... forever." She softly caresses his back as she wraps her hooves around him, but then she fiercely bites into his neck, drawing his blood.

"Vi...Vinyl, why?" He blacks out.

The Next Day

"AHA!" Xavier exclaims, as he wakes up in a cold sweat. He walks to the bathroom and wipes his face as he laughs to himself, but as he looks into the mirror, he sees that both of his eyes are an eerie red and his canines have grown several inches longer.

Xavier almost collapses from realizing that what happened was in fact not a nightmare. Because almost all his blood had been drained, Xavier walks to the kitchen to get some water and sees that it’s already dark outside. He sees that Vinyl is in there, but he doesn't say a thing to her. Struggling against his dehydration, he gets his water. Vinyl goes about the kitchen cleaning up after having eaten dinner… It looks like it had been an apple fritter with blood in it.

"What happened last night? What did you… What are you? What...”

The pony put up a hoof, "I'm sorry. I thought you would understand what I am right away. I didn’t want to do it, but I had to. I'm so sorry, but to answer your question: I'm a vampire, and… you’re a vampire too."

Xavier freezes up, and almost stutters as he says, "So… what's stopping me from telling the Princesses about what you are?"

She laughs and says, "Yeah, go tell her that I'm a vampony, but she’d see that you’re the same as me. See what reaction you get from that. You're going to have to live with what you are now. I did this to you because... well... I love you, Xavier, and I didn’t want to kill you."

Xavier falls to the floor with tears in his eyes. His head lowers, and, looking at the ground he screams "AHHH! I'm so hot! My teeth, they’re getting even longer!"

"Well, how do I put this?" She saunters over to him. "Well, in a word, you're in heat. It's completely normal, and happens every now and again."

He blushes as she’s now inches from his face. "But I've never had sex before, so I don't really know what to do."

She replies, "Don't worry. I haven’t either, but..." She leans in and kisses him, putting her tongue in his mouth. He wraps his arms around her, kissing her. "That night, two vampires lost their virginity."

“You have to change your habits so you can live this way. You can be out in the sun, but only if you wear all black and have an umbrella or shades on. We have to feed. If we don’t, we get weak, and can’t be in the sun. Don't feed unless you need to, or you’ll end up going on a killing spree. And, lastly, every month you go into heat, so you have that to look forward to." They laugh, but Xavier can’t help but feel scared because he knows that life now will be the hardest thing to deal with.

"So, Xavier, it's time for us to feed. Unfortunately, this is unavoidable, but don't worry, I’ll be there with you through it all." She says with a smile, "Are you ready to go about to kill some ponies?"

"Haha, sure, because, you know I'm totally into doing that." He replies sarcastically. With that, Xavier and Vinyl set off in the night. "Vinyl, where are we going?"

"Well, we can't kill everypony in Ponyville, now can we? We’re going to Maretropolis. That is as far as I’ve ever been. We can get there in about two hours."

Later, they arrive in Maretropolis.

"Vinyl, I feel somewhat weak." He says with heavy breathing. "I know the sun is coming up soon, so let's find a place to sleep. Later, the feeding shall commence."

They find a cheap hotel in a quiet part of Maretropolis.

"So, Vinyl... how long have you been doing this ‘n how many ponies have you killed?" He asks almost innocently.

Vinyl looks at Xavier and almost hesitantly says, "Well, I'd been doing this for seven years before you came, so about 12 in all. And no, I'm not going to say how many ponies I’ve killed. I didn’t want to do it, but I had to... We need to get to bed. We have a long night ahead of us."

After a good day’s sleep, the sun sets and the moon rises.

Xavier didn’t get a lot of sleep, his thoughts having kept him awake all day. Vinyl gets up and gets all her stuff together. "So, are you ready?"

"As ready as anyone would be.” They head out, looking for somepony to feed on.

They search for an hour or two until they find an orange stallion and a blue mare at a small chapel. "Xavier let's go. It's now or never."

Vinyl attacks before Xavier can say anything, pinning the stallion to the ground. Xavier follows up by grabbing the mare. As he looks over to Vinyl, he realizes the horror of what is going to happen as he sees the stallion hopelessly fight back. With tremendous force, she sinks her teeth into the poor stallion's neck. The stallion’s vision fades as she sucks his life away.

Vinyl stands up, with blood dripping down her face. "Well, that was tasty."

"I can't do this...I just can't."

Vinyl pulls out a knife. "I knew this would happen… Give her to me."

Xavier can’t help but tremble as he pushes the mare towards Vinyl. Vinyl cuts the helpless mare's arm and the mare passes out at the sight of her own blood. "Now look. Does her blood not look good? You know you want it; you need it; try it; you'll see. It’s gonna be fine." He looks at the mare’s arm as the blood drips to the ground, steadily losing his willpower, giving in to his instinct.

"I...I don't.... but.... but..." he slowly smiles, jumping on the mare, biting down hard on her neck, blood gushing out onto his face, relaxing him as he drinks.

Time goes by, and Xavier stands back up, shivering because he is drenched in blood. Vinyl walks up to him, putting a hoof on his back to try to get him to relax after what must have been a traumatizing experience.

"Well, the good thing is that it only gets easier from here on out."

Xavier looks over to Vinyl with a devilish grin. "I...I want more."

Vinyl looks at him in shock from his reply.
