Hayberia - October 7,1957
I sat alone in my tiny and cramped cell with nothing more than the rats for company. To me this was turning out to be like any other day in this godforsaken place. Soon the guard would come in and haul me off to the mines where I was worked all day without a reprieve then get beaten and finally thrown back in that cell with nothing more to eat then shitty stale bread and a glass of water that might as well come from an Artesian well. All of that was shattered when the sound of carriage wheels came from outside my cell, no pony ever came out here so hearing this meant that some-pony or something important was here. I raced over to the small slit with bars that is my window and struggled to get a glimpse of what was happening. I managed to find an angle that would provide me with a view of the carriage and the guard that was on patrol just beyond the entrance of the facility. I waited to see what would come from the carriage and after the longest moments of my life the doors opened and out stepped a large stallion, he exited the carriage and down to the snowy ground. Taking notice of him the guard immediately saluted as the stallion made his way over to the building that housed my cell. As he walked I tried to make out if he could be somepony I knew from the war unfortunately most of his features were hidden by a long black leather trench coat that hung down to his hoofs along with that there was the snowstorm it did not help either so I looked to his face for any hints of who he may be but that too was covered by the popped up collar of his coat and officer’s cap that bore the Solar Empire's emblem. The features of his that I was clearly able to define was his orangish - yellow main and dark green eyes as he turned his head and looked straight in my direction , still he marched on drawing closer to the door.
“Could this pony be my undoing or my salvation?”, I thought
That question would soon be answered as a heavy knocking came from the wooden door. I turned my self away from the slit and seated myself in the small chair that accompanied an equally small table in front of it. I watched as the guard made his way to the door and opened it allowing the mysterious stallion to enter. He came up to my cell and entered, now I got a look at his face and it had an impression of friendship on it but that bond was long dead.
“What business brings you all the way out here, I’m sure there are others in need of a reprieve from their work you ublyudok”, said Vladimir Silver Spirit as the stallion made his way further into the small cell and took the seat opposite from Vladimir. Hearing what Vladimir had to say turned his exposition of that happiness and friendship to one of sadness and slight anger.
“I came all the way from Canterlot and this is how you welcome old friends.”, replied the officer.
“ We were friend during the war not so now. What really brings you out here?”, snapped Vladimir as he was eager to find out if his old friend was here to end him.
The officer pulled in his chair and got within inches of Vladimir’s face before telling him.
“ I was sent here to judge if your life was still of value to the Motherland after the lies you wrote!”, quarreled the officer with a dark and modest tone before reclining back in the chair.
The officer’s conniption caused Silver Spirit to go into a rage lashing out at him for his falsehood.
“WHAT I wrote was the truth. I saw good colts and stallions throw away their lives All for what a few inches OF CITY BLOCK or A FEW ROOMS in an apartment complex just to raise a flag on a damm building!”, screamed Vladimir as his hoofs flew about the room nearly hitting the stallion that sat in front of him.
After his paroxysm Vladimir was then retaliated with the officer’s own outburst.
“ Those ponies died heros of the union! Their sacrifice assured our victory against the fascists!”, discharged the stallion as he took out a cigarette and lit it with a small zippo lighter to calm himself before continuing on.
“If you want to tell your truths so bad then you might as well start from the beginning and who knows it may just save you in fact why don’t you tell it the you wrote it.”, commented the officer as reached in the inside pocket of his coat and removed a leather bound journal that was embroidered with Vladimir Silver Spirit’s name on its cover and placed it in front of him.
“What you wrote in this book could condemn another ponies lifetimes over, your lucky it is me here. Another would have shot you by now.”, animadverted the officer.
Silver Spirit ran is hoof over the front cover of his journal and slowly flashbacks of war came and went in his mind. Those that were his friends, the ones he lost and even the one he loved passed through his mind for many minutes before the stallion spoke again.
“Well Vladimir Silver Spirit you have a story to tell might as well start from beginning.”, suggested the officer.
Vladimir merely sank down into his chair as he gathered himself before he began.
“ It was our Second Great war with the New Lunar Republic and I was deployed to help in capture of Stalliongrad.........
