Chapter 14*

I heard a noise so high pitched none of the ponies could hear it but I am a changeling so it was more obvious. It took a few minutes to reach the source that appeared to be a secret room referred to as ‘the haunted chambers’. Real scary but everypony assumed that the old King’s bedchambers is haunted since he died while he was still on the throne.

I looked at the magically locking gold and silver doors that only ponies that the King trusts can enter. It took two long years for me to gain his trust but the door will open to me now. As soon as the doors opened I regretted opening the doors as they flew off their hinges into some type of portal. The room was almost completely bare except for a bookshelf built into a wall, a table bolted to the ground and a single Pegasus.

The Pegasus was actually the behind-the-scenes ruler of Equestria. His name is Kindo and his disguise was not really there, he still had his rainbow mane and emerald green eyes but his coat was a pale blue instead of its usual black. Refocusing on the portal that has forced me to grab the ground with all of my strength I noticed it was a simple orange oval.

“What happened?!” I yelled over the wind that was being forced through the portal.

“Something destabilized it. The portal was supposed to be a view-way only,” Kindo explained loudly.

“Stabilize it then,” I yelled with annoyance clear in my voice.

“Don’t you think I’ve tried!? I can’t even close it but here take my notes and see if you can help,” Kindo asked honestly afraid that it might grow bigger and take the planet with it.

Kindo levitated the notes over to me since both of us have been working on teleportation spells and my last breakthrough allowed short distance teleportation. I’ve only been here three years and I learned magic from scratch, saved the King a few times and even created new magic. When I arrived creating new magic was unheard of and all they had was levitation and limited cloud walking.

My focus was brought from the notes by my sudden sliding towards the portal luckily my instincts kicked in and my strength increased my grasp on the floor. Looking at the notes again I noticed what went wrong so I circled some parts and handed him the revised notes so he could reverse it. Suddenly the portal grew in size causing me to lose my footing and fly towards the portal’s gravitational pull.

“MIDNIGHT!!!!!!!!” I heard Kindo yell I flew towards the portal.

“Close the portal,” I told him noticing his magical grip was the only thing keeping me from flying.

“If I do you’ll be sucked in,” he pointed out.

“Tell ---- I’m sorry and I hope to see her again,” I said as I broke free of his magical grasp.

‘That’s what he can remember anyway’ Dave thought back to their memory sharing ability. It was really weird to see Equestria like that but it explains some things as well. ‘He was really depressed that nopony recognized him but I guess all changelings look alike.’ Midnight just told them the basics like the portal that ‘malfunctioned’ witch is technically true.

“And that’s everything Princess,” Midnight finished his half-truth story.

“Almost,” Kindo said from the doorway before he approached Midnight err… Yami.

“Hello. I’m Crimson” –I then gestured to Yami- “and that is my other half Midnight. Who are you?”

“Other half?” Kindo questioned causing both of us to become alarmed.

“You’ll find out in about-” I conjured a magical clock in front of me. “-fifteen minutes,” I finished as the clock vanished again.

“Midnight Shine,” Kindo whispered as soon as he got really close to Yami. Midnight replied with just a look at both me and him so I followed his lead and started conversing with the Princesses so they could talk.

  “Yes sire,” he said quietly.

“It’s been a very long time since I last saw you,” Kindo admitted.

“How long exactly?” Yami was obviously curious about how long he had been away.

“Two thousand and six hundred years tomorrow,” Kindo admitted.

“How has everypony been,” he asked calmly surprising the King.

“Everypony seemed to have forgotten about you as soon as you left and even I am fuzzy about how that happened,” Kindo admitted. Yami just froze at the thought that nopony remembered him and even the King with his remarkably great bond with time itself can barely remember the accident. Now that he thought about it Kindo’s portal closed before he went through and he smashed into a wall.

“If that wasn’t it then what was?” Midnight asked looking very upset.

The moon finished its descent and Celestia stopped our conversations to raise her sun. As the sun came into view our bodies became one and everypony had to cover their ears from our extremely loud scream.
