Compromise pt.2

It wasn't long until Twilight and Mirror were in the tree house. "What's going on!?" burst out Rainbow Dash.

Twilight was about to speak but Mirror cut in. "I'll tell you what's going on Dash: Nightmare Moon has returned to bring forth her endless night," he brought up getting a look from the cyan mare.

"How do you know that? Are you a spy?" she eyed him.

He cleared his throat and wiped a bead of sweat from the corner of his eye. "Me? Oh no, I would never," he felt sweat drip from his chin.

"There's no time to be pointing hooves," Twilight cut in flipping page after page.

"Yeah, there's no time to," he agreed only to get Dash off his back.

"Alright, to stop the Mare in the Moon we must head through... - The Everfree Forest - !" every-pony exclaimed as they found themselves in front of the forest.

"Y-You know, eternal darkness may not be such a bad thing," Shard bit his lip as he waited for a response.

Twilight's jaw fell open. "You've gotta be kidding me Mirror Shard," Twilight Sparkle stated in shock.

He sighed. "Fine, I just think maybe, I can compromise with this Nightmare Moon," Shard sheepishly smiled an unsure smile on her face.

"I don't think some-pony such as yourself can," Twilight said frowning to the mere thought.

Shard sheepishly smiled. "Fine," he sighed his mission coming closer and closer in reach. "Let's go," he said tipping his bowler hat and tightening his scarf.

Mirror and the others walked along the trail. Nothing too much out of the ordinary. Shard sighed as he knew he's helping the ones whom he's going to destroy. "Let's just get on with this," Mirror sighed as he walked next to Twilight.

"Ya know, folks say the Everfree don't work the same as Equestria," Applejack brought up; Mirror knew this.

"Yeah, yeah, I know, the sun and moon raise on their own, and the animals they can take care of themselves," he said looking to a shocked Twilight Sparkle.

"How do you know Shard?" Rainbow asked her eyes narrowing.

A bead of sweat dripped from his muzzle. "You know, it's one of those things," he lied he found out through a library in his hive.

"Well, did you know this?" she gestured a hoof signaling Shard to lean in. She looked left and right and continued to gesture her hoof. "YOU"RE AN EGG HEAD!" he covered his ears to the sudden outburst; he almost lost control of his magic.

Not too long after the ground gave in and a large chunk of the floor fell at a fast pace. Mirror and Twilight not able to hold on fell without any-pony to help. They were able to connect and grab a branch. "Don't let go!" Twilight yelled at Mirror. Mirror looked down and looked back. "Let go, you'll be fine," he assured Twilight only held tighter not wanting to let go.

"Do it Twi, ya'll be fine," Applejack assured holding on her other hoof.

"Are you crazy!?" Twilight squeaked as she held tighter.

"Do it, ya'll be fine, trust me," Applejack said smiling assuring the purple mare. With a sigh she let go and fell waiting for the ground which never came. She opened her eyes to see Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash holding her slowly Flutters left Twilight to just Rainbow Dash's grip as she went to get Mirror Shard. "I told ya," Applejack said a smile crept on both Twilight Sparkle and Mirror Shard.

The ponies walked along the dirt road scared as they heard noises. Suddenly a large Manticore leapt from behind a bush. Shard leapt backwards; he's still not sure about this. Twilight unexpectedly yet expectedly charged at the Manticore. Another thing came when Fluttershy jumped in front of us. "STOP!" she exclaimed loudly Shard just wanted to ignore her.

Mirror sighed as Flutters walked up to the Manticore so calmly. Fluttershy tenderly nuzzled the Manticore's paw. All of the ponies gasped as the Manticore raised it's paw - Fluttershy not moving in the slightest - Fluttershy nuzzled the paw again. Soon the Manticore showed Fluttershy the large wound on its paw were a thorn stuck out.

"Oh you poor thing," Fluttershy said tenderly. "This may sting," she gave a heads up. When she yanked the thorn out of its paw it grabbed her causing the others to gasp. Well, other than Shard who's mouth flew open.

The others' jaws dropped as Fluttershy was simply being licked by the large beast.

Mirror Shard chuckled amazed with the act Fluttershy did. "Uh... how'd you know there was a thorn in its paw Fluttershy?" Mirror asked trying not to have his jaw drop in the process.

Fluttershy smiled. "I didn't, sometimes you must show some kindness," Mirror saw as the prophesy was coming closer.

The seven ponies slowly made their way around the forest. They looked at the scary trees stopped in their tracks when they heard laughing. "Ah! Pinkie what the heck!?" Mirror's eyes widened.

Pinkie: Oh, don't you see? When I was a little filly and the sun was going down!

Twilight: Tell me she's not...

Pinkie: The darkness and the shadows they would always make me frown.

Mirror: And she is.

Pinkie: I'd hide under my pillow from what I thought I saw, but Grandma Pie said that wasn't the way to deal with fears at all!

Mirror: I feel you Pinkie

Pinkie: She said Pinkie you got to stand up tall, you got to face your fears, you'll see they can't hurt you just laugh and make them disappear! *Laugh*

Mirror: Wow, I'd wish my mom would've told me that, thank you Pinkie! I'll use that whenever need comes!

Pinkie: So, giggle at the ghosties, gofer at the ghosties, crack up at the creepy, crack it up at the ghosties! Giggle at the spooky!

Mirror: Honestly Pinkie, you know more! Just giggle at the ghosties and giggle at the spooky!!!

Mirror looked to Twilight who was dumbfounded. "I-I don't know what just happened to be honest," Mirror soon fell over alongside Twilight laughing their heart out.

The seven walked hearing loud crying. "Oh my, hello, uh... what's wrong?" Mirror asked the water dragon.

"Oh it's hideous! I'm disfigured!" he exclaimed in a dramatic cry.

"Care to compromise?" Shard asked the dragon who didn't go for it.

"It's horrible!" he then turned showing a cut in half mustache.

Mirror slapped his hoof to his face as did Twilight. Rarity however didn't. "This is terrible! I'll fix this!" with that Rarity took a scale and cut her tail making her tail shorten in size and gave the dragon her tail making the mustache even.

"There, we can't let you going around with half a mustache, can we?" Rarity said smiling at the dragon who was shocked in Rarity's act of generosity.

"Whoa Rarity are you alright!?" Mirror exclaimed staring at her tail which is now short.

Rarity blushed and poked at her tail. "It'll grow back I'm sure," she said smiling lightly at Mirror.

Only thing that was standing in the way of Mirror Shard and his mission was a bridge that seemed to have fallen a while back. "Oh dear," Mirror mouthed as he wished he was his Changeling form so he can fly across.

"No worries!" Rainbow leapt in the air her wings flapping.

As she reached the other side of the bridge she was come across by three ponies two stallions and one mare. "Hello Rainbow Dash, we've been watching you, and we like what we see, how would you like to become leader of the Shadowbolts?" the mare offered, this was almost as good as the Wonderbolts.

Rainbow looked to her friends. "Sure, let me just tie this bridge and we'll be ready to-" Rainbow leapt backwards as the mare jumped in front of her.

"No! You must choose, it's them, or us," the ponies gave a proud stance.

To the shock of the Shadowbolts she continued to tie. "I can't let my friends down, sorry," Rainbow raced to her friends.

Mirror felt something he'd never felt before; happiness. He may actually rethink his choice of siding with Nightmare Moon.

The seven were there. Shard stopped them. "Uh... T-Twilight, are you sure eternal darkness is such a bad thing?" Shard asked looking to a surprised Twilight Sparkle.

"Are you joking!? Eternal darkness is defiantly bad!" Twilight exclaimed getting some air time.

Shard bit his lip can he honestly do it? Can he follow in this? Can he hand over these 'friends' to Queen Chrysalis? With a sigh he nodded. "I know, maybe I can try and compromise with the mare," he said under his breath as he walked alongside Twilight.

Soon the seven came to the hall holding the Elements of Harmony. "C'mon ya'll, let's give her some space," Applejack said bringing us outside the hall. A laugh came from behind Twilight as the large mare shattered the Elements of Harmony to pieces; Twilight's mouth agape. That was until she heard Applejack's voice. Her eyes lit up as she realized her friends are the Elements. "You see Nightmare Moon I don't need the Elements! For my friends are the Elements; Applejack showing honesty I couldn't believe, symbolizing the element of honesty," with that a orange apple appeared around AJ's neck. "Fluttershy showing us to be kind, showing the element of kindness," Twilight said Mirror biting his lip as he had only one chance. "Pinkie Pie showing us to laugh at fear, showing the element of laughter," three pink balloons appeared on Pinkie's neck. "Rarity as I heard her called showing us how generous she is, showing the element of generosity," Mirror shuttered thinking of his experience with Rarity. "Rainbow Dash not giving up on her friends no matter how much she wanted it," Mirror smiled at Rainbow as her talent was shown on the necklace that appeared on her neck. "Finally came Mirror Shard, wanting to compromise on everything no matter his position, showing the new Element of Compromise," Twilight smiled as Shard's jaw was agape. "And for what makes friendship complete magic!" soon a rainbow color encased Nightmare Moon with a tint of gray from Mirror's new found element.

A flash of gold blinded the ponies for a moment. As their vision was regained they watched in awe as it was their Princess. "Good job Twilight Sparkle, I saw the signs of Nightmare Moon's return - Then where were you? - and I knew you could do it," Princess Celestia said in her motherly tone. She glanced at what was once Nightmare Moon.

She approached the mare and almost immediately the mare's head rested on her own chest. "I'm sorry sister, I-I-I don't know what came over me," her eyes teared up as her elder sister spoke.

"I know, I knew you didn't truly mean it," Princess Celestia cried soon stopped by Pinkie Pie jumping in front of them.

"You know what this calls for?" Pinkie started.

Mirror rolled his eyes. "Here we go," he sighed.

"...A party!" Pinkie finished confetti going off behind her.

"Are you ready to go home Mirror and Twilight?" Princess asked winking at Mirror.

"I can't," he said followed by Twilight muttering it.

Celestia heard about this. "I humbly decree you to be the only of your race allowed to be in its original form," Mirror was shocked with how she knew he was a Changeling. "What do you mean?" he asked thinking he heard wrong.

"Go on, change back Mirror Shard," Princess said he wasn't one to deny an authority's orders.

With a flash of yellow his true form was revealed as a Changeling. Ponies gasped some fainted at the sight of his true form; of course he felt way out of place Twilight just stared at him. "And Twilight, I'd thought you'd..." she stopped as she glanced to see Twilight surrounded by her new found friends. "I see, I'll be expecting letters Twilight, about what you've learned of friendship," Princess said smiling as Twilight looked to her.

"With pleasure Princess!" Twilight smiled happily as she shook her head to depart from Mirror Shard.

Princess Luna the younger sister of Princess Celestia was gifted with a flower necklace. "It's the same with you Mirror Shard," Mirror sighed; his mother will not like this, oh well. Mirror didn't care how she knew his name.

"Of course Princess," he smiled as he watched Pinkie leap on him not taking mind his current body, soon after all the ponies began laughing loudly including Celestia.
