//-------------------------------------------------------// Eruption: Destiny's Fire -by Daniel Fatekeeper- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// The Flames Have been Lit //-------------------------------------------------------// The Flames Have been Lit Calm...It's always calm before the world turns completely upside down. The ground cracked and molten stone and metal spewed from the surface, if there was a sound associated with this action, it would sound like an enormous beast rolling in it's slumber. Then came...them, they crawled from the fissure, completely disregarding the molten stone. They have been preparing for this moment, while the ponies lived, died, loved, hated, and fought, they sat and waited, waited for the day when they can once more walk among the flesh-borne. Inner Eye awoke with a start, sitting up and rubbing his eyes, he contemplated exactly what sort of messes he was expected to deal with today. Dressing and standing in front of his mirror, he practiced smiling and confidently repeating his motto. "When your in a jam, and don't have magic to help you, call us. Inner Eye: Magical Problem Resolver . Of course "us" actually meant "him". Inner Eye spent most of his life alone, so the feeling was not alien to him. From the orphanage he grew up in, too his time at the Academy, our young hero took solace in solitude. However in our present day Inner Eye had only two people he trusted completely (people who unfortunately are not pertinent to the story and therefore will not be discussed until they become so). Anyway fast-forwarding, Inner Eye skimmed through the pages of the "Canterlot Courier" wondering what sort of trouble he could get himself into, his home in it's usual state of clutter. He sat, and sat, and sat a bit more, waiting for the someone to stop by so that he can begin his day. Finally after a small eternity the bell on his front door rang in it's usual monotonous fashion. Mustering as much confidence as he could Inner Eye calmly said "Magi for hire" and waited for the response. Eventually he heard "Yea, yea I got something for ya' ". "Listening" he replied patiently, after a few minutes the Unicorn made an odd face, and began to pack his things. Inner Eye patted his current employer on the shoulder as another burning wheel of cheese sailed passed his head. "This is a...rare case. I have never seen a phenomena this interesting". "You can fix this right" his employer said nervously, to which the Unicorn simply shrugged. In truth nothing like this had ever happened before. Inner Eye launched himself into the cupboard from which the cheese flew forth, emerging later, covered in soot, and smelling of rotten milk, he marched to his now satisfied employer and informed him that the particularly nasty fairy inhabiting his home was now gone. Inner Eye solemnly collected his pay, and was three inches off of the threshold before he looked at the ceiling, murmured something and fell over. After waking up and collecting his thoughts Inner Eye was quick to inform the man that he was alright, and that he needed to leave. Not bothering to collect his pay, Inner Eye found the nearest member of the Royal Guard, and informing them that he had information vital to the princess. Two days later, he was escorted to the palace and told to wait in the throne room. A few moments later, a large Pegasus walked in and stood in front our hero. He told Inner Eye that his name was Strategy, and that the princesses where busy. Inner Eye now quite distressed begged the pony to listen, Strategy waved Inner Eye away and told him to gather some data and meet with the princesses in a week. After being escorted to his home, Inner eye wasted no time finding a bestiary and reading all that he could on Golems.  It turns out that this is not only an abnormal occurrence, that it is also a very rare one, one that often heralds destruction. "We had best prepare for war" he told himself, as he kept reading, praying and hoping that his prayers would be heard and answered, for the end of days was soon to come.
