//-------------------------------------------------------// PONIES AND 16" GUNS: Equestria's Warships -by An Iowa class battleship- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Homeland //-------------------------------------------------------// Homeland EQUESTRIA'S WARSHIPS WHITE HOUSE WASHINGTON D.C December 25th 1945 TWO MONTHS AFTER MIDWAY PORTAL APPEARANCE It's been a painstaking four years for the United States, now that World War Two is finally over, everyone can now easily rest without worry... All except for President Harry S. Truman. Having learned about the Disappearance of three of his best fighting ships to the unknown not only has him on the edge, but a new threat has appeared on the world... Communism. The use of the Atomic Bomb had also triggered hostile aggression from the Soviets. The last thing on everyone's mind was fighting, but the Russians are determined. If Truman can't find a way to talk Stalin out of his hostilities, then he'll have no choice but to send him 'The message' that he has the weapons and the firepower that will easily overwhelm him and his military in less than a month. The thought of a Third World War seemed likely for where he and Stalin are going down this path. But Truman doesn't care about the Soviet threat at the moment. He has a meeting with the recently returned Admiral Chester Nimitz and a VIP he had brought back with him after a being sucked down a whirlpool that teleported him and the three ships to another world. Truman had no clue how to react to this, was all this a bad dream or was Nimitz trying to communicate with him from beyond the grave! "God Dammit! How would Roosevelt handle this." The elder president cursed to himself, taking in a sip of whisky as he stares out of the many windows of the oval office, and into the beaming Capital city of Washington D.C. The office door opens as a Secret Service Operative entered "Mr President, Admiral Nimitz has arrived." "Thank you, send him in." Truman replied. the operative nodded in response and proceeded to bring Nimitz and this V.I.P to his Office. Placing his glass on his desk and sits in his chair, Truman stares aimlessly into the surroundings momentarily before opening a folder in front of him and proceeded to inspect it's content's. Some of the papers had disclosed reports from Midway about this giant dome that had appeared not far from the main Atoll. The Dome Portal had become unstable for two months after Alaska came through until it Stabilized itself a few days ago and could be approached safely by Navy Observation ships. Another piece of paper was a printed copy of Nimitz's After-Action report about his time in the Alternate dimension that he was sucked down into. After reading it, he let out a relieving sigh knowing the Mighty-Mo wasn't claimed by the Triangle of Death known as the Bermuda Triangle but held great grief and sorrow for the USS Enterprise when she was nearly sunk in a bombing raid by unknown hostiles who also attacked the Equestrians after reading a previous section that described that they are a peaceful race united in harmony and were exposed to the horrors that was war from this unprovoked attack from the Global Liberal Association. The final piece of paper contained a brief description about the VIP Nimitz brought back with the USS Alaska, the VIP was an Alicorn Princess who had the power the move Celestial bodies with just her thoughts, her name Was Celestia. She stands around the same height as an average human (on all fours), had white fur, pastel mane and tail, the basic features of an Alicorn such as wings and a horn. "-She was a kindhearted, patient and a beloved monarch, praised and loved by her people since the start of her reign more than a thousand years ago." Truman read a sentence from the paper in his head. There was a knock at the door. "Come in." Truman called out across the large office space. The opens, revealing an unscathed Admiral Chester Nimitz dressed in his full white uniform as he enters the Oval Office. He was then followed in by Princess Celestia. "Admiral Nimitz, Welcome back to the land of the living." The President greeted. "Yeah, it's good to be back." Nimitz chuckled at his statement. "Sir, on the behalf of her highness, I'd like to introduce you to Princess Celestia, Co-ruler of Equestria." "Your highness, it is a pleasure to meet you." President Truman greeted the Sun Princess. "I can say the same to you too Mr. President, and call me Tia, or whatever suits you." Celestia smiled. "Alright, Princess. So how's the first two months on Earth treating you?" Truman asked. "Very well, thank you. You had some impressive looking warships of many types around when we arrived and I enjoyed the many hospitality on my way here." Tia replied happily on how she was treated from Midway to Hawaii then to San Francisco and all the way to Washington. "Glad to hear it, your Highness. Now, I have just gone through the latest reports from Midway regarding to the giant trans-dimensional dome sitting on their doorstep, Admiral. They need to know how long it will be there?" "Indefinite, Mr President." Nimitz apologized. "Is there a problem?" Tia asked with a hint of concern. "No, your highness, it's nothing at all. It's just that the dome is sitting dead in the middle of a proposed shipping route for two months." Truman explained. "I see." Tia pondered at the thought. "Any chances we can relocate the portal?" Nimitz asked the Solar Princess. "I'm afraid not, the Trans-Dimensional Wormhole that we picked for this was the only one that can guarantee successful transitions between our worlds. Anywhere else and we've would've ended up somewhere else that wouldn't be on your homeworld." Tia apologized. "That's a shame, Midway was the turning point in the War for the Pacific... But it looks like we'll have to redraw the route around the portal." Truman shrugged. "Can't argue with that. Hows MacArthur?" Nimitz asked. As if on cue, there was a knock at the door. "Come in." Truman called out to the anonymous person behind the door. The door opens and the unmistakable form of Douglas MacArthur enters the office. "Douglas... Never thought I would see you again!" Nimitz stood from his chair to greet the General. "Nimitz?! I thought you were dead!" MacArthur almost shrieked at seeing an unscathed Admiral Nimitz with a Pony Princess beside him. "Better be buried with my men than rotting on the sea floor. That's what ol' Blood and Guts would've said." Nimitz replied. "Who is Blood and Guts?" Celestia asked. "Blood and Guts, known as General George Patton, a general in the U.S Army, best known for his command of the Seventh United States Army, and later the Third United States Army in the European Theater of World War II." MacArthur explained. Nimitz agreed. "He had a colorful image, hard-driving personality and success as a Commander. But his philosophy of leading from the front and his ability to inspire his troops with vulgarity-ridden speeches had brought great inspiration on many of our troops in the European Theater. His strong emphasis on rapid and aggressive offensive action proved effective. While he was regarded highly by his opponents in the German High Command." "He must be a great man." Tia beamed. "He was, too bad you couldn't meet the Old Man. Just heard he'd died only a couple of days ago, God bless him." "Oh dear, what happened." The Sun Princess asked, hiding her shock. "Car Accident, he died from his injuries a few days ago." "I'm sorry for the loss, were you freinds with him?" Tia asked somberly. "Not really, me and Nimitz were fighting the Japs on one end of the world, while Blood and Guts was leading his men on the other." "I see..." Tia acknowledged as silence enveloped the office. "May he rest in peace." Truman mentally saluted the deceased General. BACK ON THE ILLUSIVE ISLANDS AT THE SAME TIME... A thick morning fog envelops the small island chain in the middle of the Hoofcific Ocean, an eerie motion of silence and danger plagues the desolate wastelands. in a certain part of the main island, Dark Magic is highly active over a Stonehenge like Gorgon Ritual Grounds. A blast of light engulfs the grounds momentarily till the light died down, the form of an unscathed General George S. Patton drops the ground with a *THUD*. The Elder General groaned with pain and anger as he picked himself up from the hard rocky ground. "Argh, so much for gently being buried six feet under with my men!" Patton mumbled loudly as he stood up but froze immediately. "Wait a minute!" Patton briefly gazes down at his body momentarily as he freely moves his arms and legs around with ease. "HA! Well I'll be dammed, I'm NOT paralyzed anymore! UP YOURS MURPHY'S LAW!" Blood and Guts cheered. As the 'Old Man' calmed down, he picked up his helmet, taking a quick glance at it for damage. It was painted the usual army green colour with a white letter A on the front in a red circle with a white outline, above it were three gold stars lined up beside each other with a fourth star above the second one. satisfied put places it back onto his head as he takes in his surroundings. "Whelp... This must be heaven then. Nothing like how I hoped it would be though..." Patton shook his head in disappointment. As things could be more disappointing, several dark shapes start approaching towards Patton. "Hello?" Patton called out towards the shadow figures. There was no response from the tall slender figures as they got closer towards Blood and Guts. Not liking the atmosphere, Patton searched around his waist for his sidearms, luckily, both were present. "Show yourselves!" Patton Barked. On cue, the mysterious beings emerged, or slithered out of the fog, Bringing a sight of horror to the general, but kept his calm state. In front of him were eight Gorgon Elite Commandos, their left fore arms dissolving into a jet black mist before reshaping into dark magic spears. They are female in nature, but their glowing green eyes gives away their predatory side. "My guess is you ladies are not angels?" Patton asked sarcastically. The Commandos gave the Elder General a bone chilling hiss of hunger, Patton replied with a growing grin on his face. "Very well... Alright ladies!" Patton shouted at the female Gorgons, pulling both his revolvers out into view, causing them to flinch back a little. "... Let's dance!" He pulls the trigger on his Colt Model 1876 .45 Caliber revolver, sending a .45 Caliber bullet at a gorgons head, causing it to explode like black and red confetti at Hitler's birthday party as it's body vanished in a black mist. Followed by the discharge of his Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum causing the same result to another Gorgon next to the deceased one. The remaining Gorgons gave out shrieks of pure rage and charged the revived General as more shots rang out across the desolate wasteland of the former Gorgon Nation. Author's Note Woo! What a start to part two. Didn't think I'd get this finished sooner or later! anyways, no turning back now! FULL. STEAM. AHEAD FOR EQUESTRIA'S WARSHIPS! "See you on the Naval Battlefield!" "Mighty-Mo, out!" //-------------------------------------------------------// First Salvos of Cape Hoof //-------------------------------------------------------// First Salvos of Cape Hoof December 26th 1945 Cheesecake Bay, Equestria... On the other side of the portal, things have gone from bad to worse. Two months after Manehattan, the GLA have launched a series of attacks on multiple nations and are setting up a naval front near Equestria's oceanic border. In the outbreak of the First World War of Equis, Many nations and empires came under heavy GLA attacks. To make matters worse, a Gorgon Assassination attempt on Princess Cadance had gone horribly wrong, the Assassin ended up paying the price. However, their invasion on Equestria was supposed to be launched after Manehattan but was delayed when learning that three ships had survived the bombings. Two Austalion warships and one American Battleship. Having left Manehattan only three hours ago, the USS Missouri, the Commonwealth of Austalia Navy Ship (CANS) Sydniegh and Boomerang are currently the only ships protecting Equestria's shores until either Human or Austalion Reinforcements can arrive. So far, several more Austalion ships have came in and are awaiting orders from Naval Intelligence. En-route to Cheesecake Bay, Missouri topped up on fuel from a passing Austalion Support Ship and continued onward. Standing in the bridge of the 'Big-Mo', Missouri's Commanding Officer Stuart S. Murray along with Commodore Steel Waters and Captain Shinning Armor. Backed by the Elements waiting below deck, the Austalions and their ships, Princess Luna who has been filling in for Celestia during her absence on Earth have requested them to investigate possible Gorgon activity around Cheesecake Bay or designated as Chesapeake Bay by the Humans. "Ok, lets go through the scenario one more time." Murray repeats the battle plan to the Equines. "The Aussie ships will race ahead and sweep the bay for any surprises our freinds have left in store for us. Missouri will set up a Battlestations in the heart of the bay." "While me and a contingent of Guards on shore will investigate the fishing town of Cape Hoof, which is home to the Reserve Fleet." Shinning concluded. "Alright, I'll send one of my men with you, so we can communicate with each other." Murray suggested. "Much appreciated." Shinning thanked. "I'll head off on one of the Austalion ships and give you the all clear." Steel Waters advised. "Agreed... Alright guys, the stage is set. Any questions?" Murray asked. "Sir!" Missouri's Second in Command, Joe Sheridan stepped forward. "What about the girls tagging along with us? How are they involved in this?" "Son, they may look like the Average Pony, but Twilight and her freinds play a critical role in Equestria's defense by wielding the most powerful magic there is." Murray explained. "He's right." Steel confirmed. "The Elements of Harmony are the only ones that stand between Medusa and Equestria... Even though her magic surpasses the Elements themselves... We'll find a way to beat her." "We will... Eventually." Murray promised. Steel could only nod in return. "Captain! Boomerang's Sonar is picking up five submerged contacts bearing South-West. Speed, twenty-eight knots!" Missouri's Radio Operator blared over the intercom. "Where!" Lieutenant Sheridan ordered over he radio. "Sir!" The Helmsman spoke up. "There, twenty degrees of the Port Bow!" His words caught Sheridan's and Murray's attention as they approach the front of the bridge, following the direction of the Helmsman's hand out toward's the endless blue ocean. Where out of nowhere, five faint shadows could be seen underwater converging on the three ships. At first, it looked like a pod of whales, but looks can be deceiving as the shadows rapidly approached the group before disappearing... Then out of the blue... https://img.youtube.com/vi/7YbIIUUjSGI/mqdefault.jpg :CUE ON MUSIC: Multiple columns of water shot up into the air like geysers, revealing five odd looking ships made of volcanic rock, their bows hanged in the air before dropping back down into the water. The spray of water camouflaged their appearance temporarily. As it settled down, the sight was all to familiar to the Americans. Sitting in front of them were the unmistakable shapes of Japanese Heavy Cruisers, three of them were based on the Takao class, the other two were based on the Mogami class. The only noticeable difference, the same Gorgon emblem seen on the GLA Zeppelins from when they first arrived two months ago. https://camo.fimfiction.net/OBewgd9Ig13zcGvIJdsD1uHhVphXCSvGZmJKMazUZ_s?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.modelhobby.pl%2Fimg%2Fwydawnictwo%2F_18_24_11_1mTAKAO_kamu_1945.jpg https://camo.fimfiction.net/Awq8VkY8u_UFRKU6jnInaJHyxpM8jI3iG2poqI6onlY?url=http%3A%2F%2Fimg832.imageshack.us%2Fimg832%2F8806%2Fclmogami1933templatexl2.png "Sir, what are your orders?" A now nervous Sheridan asked. Murray never got a chance to open his mouth as the first Takao impostor opened up, her two main bow turrets facing the front were trained on the Human and Pony warships and fired without remorse. The guns blared out large green fireballs from their muzzles, arcing towards the fleet. "INCOMING!" Shinning braced as the first salvos screamed overhead and narrowly missed the boomerang by eight meters. "BATTLESTATIONS!" Murray bellowed as alarms began blaring as crews dropped whatever they had in their hands and rushed to their posts. The other two Takao's opened up followed by the two Mogami's. Their salvos peppered the surroundings of the battlegroup. A salvo from a Mogami managed to get a hit on the Sydneigh, blasting a small portion of the rear superstructure of the FFG, exposing the ship's aft hangar and knocking out her Pegasai CWIS AA Gatling gun. The Sydneigh retaliated with a volley of Anti-Ship missiles and a barrage of 5" shells from her bow turret. The 5" shells simply bounced of the thick armor of the Mogami that hit the Frigate, but soon met her fate as the missile volley impacted her midsection. A chain of explosions ripped the ship in half, resulting in two separate larger explosions that obliterated the remains, leaving no survivors. "Scratch one less Gorgon vessel mates!" Sydneigh's C.O Beamed over the radio. With first contact made, all that there was to do is score a victory. The Boomerang races ahead to draw some of the heat away from the injured Frigate, the Sydneigh drops her speed to let the Missouri bring all her guns to bear on the enemy formation. Her 5" guns were the first to fire, raining a hailstorm of Armor Piercing shells on the Gorgon ships, doing little damage. The Gorgons retaliated by maneuvering into full broadside, bringing all their guns to bear as well. The Takao's fired their guns again, sending a miniature meteor shower towards the Allied screen. One of the Dark Magic shell hits the Sydneigh again on her forecastle, blasting a nasty hole in her deck. Another shell scores a hit on the Boomerang, the shells punctures her hull and into the Engine Compartment. The following detonation resulted in a chain reaction that tore her two engines apart and rupturing both of her boilers and steam turbines. "Dammit to Tartarus! We just lost our engines! Losing boiler pressure! Were dead in the water." Boomerang's C.O spoke in disbelief as her main 4.5" guns shot back at the Gorgon cruisers. Murray clutches his hands in anger. "Alright you bastards... My turn." "Main Batteries, ready!" The Gunnery Officer announced over the radio. "Light em' up!" Murray ordered. Within an instant, Turret One unleashed it's Armor Piercing cargo at the Takao to the left, shredding her superstructure into a billion pieces with lethal accuracy, her rock like hull randomly explodes into another million pieces afterwards. Turret Two thunders after One, tearing the second Takao's hull open like canned tuna. She capsizes and is too obliterated by random explosions. The third trains it's guns at the battleship and fires. It's shells raining like fire makes contact with Missouri's hull, but something strange happens. instead of striking the hull, it makes contact with a kinetic barrier of sorts. This mysterious barrier is made up of a hexagon pattern, imprinted in the middle of each hexagon was the Cutie Marks of each of the Element Bearers and their primary colour decorates their designated hex. "...Well... This is new, and odd?" Sheridan spoke in complete confusion and shock. At the same time, Turret three fires it's shells at the last Takao. The last remaining Mogami slips back into the waves and fled the battlefield, leaving a disabled Destroyer, a Frigate peppered with holes and one unscathed battleship, thanks to it's... New found trait. "I don't know how we got that, but somebody or 'Somepony' owes me an explanation to WHY my ship has an invisible barrier around it!" Murray blasted his fellow Officers and the Equines in particular for an answer, but something crossed his mind. "On second thought, don't bother. You all have done a good job today for our first victory. Secure General Quarters, Lieutenant Sheridan, you have the bridge. Dismissed." "Aye, Sir. I have the bridge." Sheridan saluted as Murray walked out of the bridge. Relieved of his sudden outburst, he starts his way towards the ward room where the Elements were stationed on the Missouri. Author's Note Hey guys, sorry this took me this long to put together. Just started yr 12 and was unable to focus due to all the bushfires that have broken out all around NSW since last week, mainly concerned about the big one in the Blue Mountains near Lithgow. The bushfires have been a real hardship for us, all ready more than one hundred thousand hectares of bushland was lost. Several hundred homes destroyed, leaving around eight hundred homeless and one person has already died trying to protect his home. For those who are concerned, I'm ok. I live in Sydney but out of harms way of the fires. Anyways, I hoped you enjoyed the first battle chapter of the story. Many regards and blessings go out to those affected by the fires and have lost so much, god bless them. "I'll see you on the Naval Battlefield!" Missouri, out! //-------------------------------------------------------// Liberation of the Gateway //-------------------------------------------------------// Liberation of the Gateway MIDWAY ISLANDS PACIFIC OCEAN January 3rd, 1946 T-Minus to phase two of OPERATION: LANDFALL... 30 minutes. On a bright Friday afternoon, the seas surrounding the main island couldn't be any busier as the entire Seventh Fleet converged onto the Trans-Dimensional Portal located in the heart of the archipelago. The fleet was due for deployment to China until Admiral Nimitz took command of the fleet and prepared all ships for transition to the Equine world. On the sandy beaches, Princess Celestia stood alone, overlooking the massive fleet as the Pacific waves rolled around her naked hooves. The sight was all too familiar to the Solar Princess, recalling the events when she first saw the Missouri plowing out of the whirlpool before her very eyes. She tried to source the cause of the Whirlpool's formation in the first place, but couldn't get anything... Not even a Trans-Dimensional Wormhole which triggers Celestia's suspicions on what or who was responsible. "Beautiful sight, isn't?" Her train of though was halted by the voice of Nimitz. "Yes, it would be, minus the warships." Tia turned to face the Admiral who was standing clear of the crashing waves. "Now that would be a sight I like to see one day." Nimitz agreed as the Princess approached him. "Indeed, I can't believe the time has already came for us to return to my homeworld." Tia spoke truthfully. "Yeah, but this time, we've got the full might of the US backing us up. Next thing we know, this war is over before we even notice it!" Nimitz suggested. "I hope so, Admiral... I hope so." Tia replied somberly as she looked into the sky, a passing B-17 catches her attention as it thundered overhead towards the main airfield on the other Island. USS IOWA (BB-61) T-MINUS TO OPERATION: PONYFALL... 2 minutes. Having boarded the lead ship of her class, Nimitz had assigned the Iowa and her sisters, including Missouri as the flagships of four separate task forces that the Seventh is divided up into. The Iowa will lead the Seventh's Assault Task Force, which is comprised of; Two other battleships, two aircraft carriers, three heavy cruisers, two light cruisers, and ten destroyers. The New Jersey will lead the Seventh's Carrier Task Force, which is comprised of; Two aircraft carriers, five escort carriers, two heavy cruisers, four light cruisers, and eight destroyers. The Missouri will lead the Seventh's Amphibious Task Force which is comprised of; Three troop transports, six LST's and two LSMR's back by the 112th Airborne. The Wisconsin will the lead the Seventh's Support Task Force which is comprised of; six cargo ships, eight oil tankers, two mobile dry docks and five repair ships. "Admiral on deck!" Iowa's Commanding Officer, Captain J. L. Holloway Jr. barked as all Senior Officers and Sailors present stood at attention. "At ease." Nimitz dismissed the others as went back to the respective tasks. "All ships reported in, ready for Operation: Ponyfall, Sir." Holloway handed Nimitz a clipboard containing a complete list of the ships serving in the Seventh, some have been transferred from other task groups. "...Good, now we just need the go-ahead from the President." Nimitz checked his mental list. As the next two minutes went by that felt like an hour, the Iowa's radioman approaches the Admiral. "Sir, message from the President." "Thank you sailor." Nimitz accepts telegram, opening the folded paper to read. After a moment of reading, Nimitz places the note down and picks up the MIC. "Attention all ships of the Seventh Fleet." He pauses and and looks in Celestia's direction, her face mixed with concern and confidence, motioning the Admiral onward. "...Operation Ponyfall is a go! Repeat, we are a go! All ships, prepare to enter the portal." ATHENS OUTSKIRTS ILLUSIVE ISLANDS 20 minutes earlier Having trekked half the main island's length, General Patton stops himself in his tracks as his eyes catches a glimpse of the city's ruined buildings. "Curious, what do we have here?" Patton spoke to himself, looking around set eyes a small trail leading up and around the city's left side. Following up the trail a few minutes later while dodging several patrols, Patton comes across a good vantage point of the ruined city. Going into a prone position, he takes out his binoculars and scans the city below. The architectural layout on the city were similar to that of Greek in design, many of the buildings looked like they were abandoned for a thousand years. Though some buildings were occupied by the many beings that he had seen a long the way, most of them were Gorgons. Below him was a structure that had the setup of a German Field Headquarters, several blocks away was a newly built port, containing vast ships that were of German, Japanese and possibly Italian in design. "Looks like my chances of getting off this rock wasn't so slim after all! But first, I gotta Headquarters to raid." MANEHATTAN HARBOR present time On the Harbor mouth, were the USS Missouri is currently stationed, her guns trained on the open sea for the past several hours as the city's floating fortress, Captain Murray has been hoping Nimitz would return. It's been two months and his ship was low on ammo and was running on reserve fuel. Food levels weren't an issue, but the Equines are having a hard time trying to replicate the oil samples and the large shells the battleship needs to use and operate on. "Sir, we're picking up a faint signal nearby?" Sheridan announced, followed by a series of hoofsteps from the Elements entering the bridge. "Stuart! Naval Intelligence says that several ships have jumped out of the portal!" Twilight shouted. This was the hope Stuart was looking for. "How long ago?" "About two minutes ago, and there's still ships coming through with some larger versions of those metal birds you guys have." Rainbow exclaimed. "How big?" Stuart asked, but was interrupted as distant aircraft engines were heard. Very different to that of the fighters salvaged from the Enterprise. Looking out in the distance, were the unmistakable shapes of DC-47's approaching from the north. Several distant poping noises could be heard from the makeshift airfield setup near the stricken carrier, green smoke slowly rising into the Equestrian sky as the transports immediately changed course for the American airfield, dropping supplies and U.S Paratroopers. Further away, distant small and high caliber gun fire could be heard ringing over the horizon. "Looks like we're back on track, Sir." Sheridan beamed. "Maybe... Prepare to send a message to Princess Luna, let her know that American reinforcements have arrived." "Aye, Captain." Sheridan heads off to relay the Seventh's arrival to Canterlot. "Suddenly, for a second I thought the next time the enemy shows up, we were gonna have to start throwing rocks at them." Stuart joked. "It could be worse?" Twilight suggested. "Agreed." Author's Note Hey guys, how are we enjoying the Christmas holidays? Well, here's the latest chapter of Equestria's Warships just in time before Santa makes his arrival here Down Under. Have a very merry Christmas and a spectacular new year from Aus. Until next year, guys; "I'll see you on the Naval Battlefield!" USS Missouri, signing off for the New Year. //-------------------------------------------------------// Saving the Enterprise //-------------------------------------------------------// Saving the Enterprise EQUESTRIAN/EARTH PORTAL "Let em' have it!" Nimitz beamed as Iowa's taskgroup opens up against a GLA blockade setup around the dome portal, annihilating various Changeling Ironclads and Minotaur frigates while patrolling fighters clear out the Griffons and zeppelins in the skies. The Seventh had only just came through the portal and already the enemy were waiting to give them a warm reception, but this time, it was Nimitz who had the element of surprise. With the fleet through, it was full steam ahead for Manehattan. As GLA cannon balls and harpoons scratch, ricochet and slightly dent the lightly armored American destroyers, they retaliate with a torrent of torpedoes while the larger ships rain volleys of shells and carrier-based aircraft cleared the skies for C-47 Skytrains and C-54 Skymasters to plow their way for the makeshift airfield for supply runs and have it converted into a strategic air base. As the enemy flotilla lied in ruins, the first ships of the Seventh were only around the corner from the harbor entrance, by the end of the day, the whole fleet had arrived. At night-fall, the USS Enterprise would be pulled off the shallow bay and temporarily dry-docked for extensive hull repairs before she would withdraw to Hawaii to be fully repaired. Escorting her back to the portal are the destroyers, USS Cassin Young, The Sullivans, Kidd, Charrette, and the cruisers, Cleveland, Chester and Helena. The carrier and her escorts had only left Manehattan just as a storm was rolling in from the east, the formation was being hammered by heavy rain and five meter swells rocked the destroyers and threatened the flood Enterprise's crippled bow. USS CHESTER (CA-27) January 3rd, 1946; 2237 Hours “USS Helena and Kidd, moving to alternate positions.” “Roger that, Helena, Proceed with caution.” “Lieutenant, are we expecting trouble along the way?” “So far, we're expecting to cross paths with a guarded convoy, some of our mine-layers and a few Austalion Corvettes. No reports on enemy movement.” “Looks like it's gonna be a long night, how far do we have till we reach the portal?” “About fifteen miles to go, we should be there by midnight at our current speed.” “Right, I'm gonna grab a coffee, I'll be back.” It would be another fifteen minutes into the mission and so far the enemy have made no attempt to attack the formation. Earlier reports from the Missouri says that the enemy had possessed warships of Japanese design, she later clashed with pocket-battleships and destroyers of German and Italian design. There had been rumors running about lately when this got out, some of the sailors say it could be just a coincidence, while others say the Gorgons had somehow had gotten help from the Axis. “I'm surprised the enemy hasn't even attacked us yet?” Chester's C.O sighed. “Or was that blockade all that they had.” “The blockade that tried to ambush us earlier belonged to a terrorist organisation known as the GLA, who are being funded by the Gorgons wreak havoc on shipping routes and blockade key port cities. We believe that they control a few key islands across the Equestrian Seas.” Chester's X.O explained. “It won't be long till our Marines are hitting the beaches again.” “USS Cassin Young to Chester, we got multiple contacts on intercept, looks like a Destroyer formation with a Cruiser flagship.” “All ships, prepare to engage!” “Whoa shit!” A sailor shouted as the enemy formation spring out from beneath the waves and immediately open fire on the American carrier force. “Incoming!” The X.O shouted a several green plasma like projectiles came raining down onto the group, most of which miss, but one shell from the opposing cruiser strikes the Helena's aft funnel, the Baltimore class Heavy Cruiser returns fire in fury. As Enterprise's escorting destroyers break off to launch some fish, the three cruisers hang back to protect the carrier and retaliates with heavy gunfire. One enemy destroyer, an Akizuki is blown sky high by a volley of torpedoes while the cruiser, a German Emden class was taken by surprise with a torpedo to her forward magazines. The opposing formation fire their volley, one shell destroys the Charrette's gun director, leaving her blind as a bat. The opposing cruiser maintains her focus on the Helena, sending more shells at the Baltimore, disabling her aft 8” and 5” guns and rupturing her fuel tanks. One shell drifts off course from the gale force winds and starts a fire on Enterprise's flight deck. The Cassin Young takes a hit below the waterline, causing minor flooding and the Kidd has her aft funnel blown in half. The Sullivans, Cleveland and Chester were the only ship left unscathed, Both light and heavy cruiser train their guns on Helena's opponent, sending a combined volley of 5”, 6” and 8” shells at the enemy cruiser, tearing her apart in three. The remaining destroyers slips back into the waves and disengage. “All ships, cease fire, they've had their smell of Uncle Sam.” “Enterprise, report?” “We've taken a hit, small fire on the flight deck but nothing serious.” “Roger that, Enterprise, we continue for the portal.” “Roger that, Enterprise, out.” "And so, our enemies take refuge in the eye of the storm. And here, we will wait for the moment to strike our foes under the cover of darkness" - Anonymous RAN sailor. https://img.youtube.com/vi/pzMvqv_3nfM/mqdefault.jpg “In the wake of the Gorgon's attempt to sink the Enterprise, U.S Naval Command established near Manehattan has ordered search and destroy operations on any hostile ship we encounter. USS San Francisco (CA-38) Seventh Fleet, 2nd Destroyer Flotilla. This however, blows any naval war humanity has seen out of the water. “Enemy ships ahead, three light cruisers with destroyer escorts.” “Sound General Quarters, prepare to engage.” “USS Allen M. Summers, moving to launch some fish.” As the U.S flotilla maneuvers to broadside, three Agano class cruisers burst out of the water with their Fubuki and Narvik class escorts and charges the group. The San Francisco opens fire first while the 'Summers' launch their spray of torpedoes, the enemy group responds with evasive maneuvers and return fire. Two Narvik's each receive two torpedoes and slowly get overwhelmed by the six foot waves while the Charles S. Sperry is hit by several shells. The San Francisco fires a volley at one of the Agano's, obliterating her bridge and Fire Control center, putting her out of action. “Captain, I don't like how this is gonna turn out, we're pretty outnumbered here.” And he was right, with the eight American ships, they were facing a larger force of eleven ships. “Can we get more support?” “Command says there should be an Austalion FFG in our A.O and the Nevada is nearby.” “Get whatever help we can get.” “Yes, Sir.” As the battle raged on, two Fubuki's are sunk at the cost of losing the Charles. “Charles is going down, sir!” “Get the Summers to pull the survivors out before the storm finishes them!” “USS Wallace L. Lind, moving to aid in search and rescue.” “This is the Austalion Guided Missile Frigate, CANS Hoofberra, we're on station, ready for long range support, over?” “Roger that, Hoofberra, first target. A light cruiser at Echo-1, over” “Echo-1, missiles away...” Back in the fight, the remaining two Narvik's are sunk with one Fubuki, the USS Laffey was forced to withdraw with her weapons system disabled. The Maddox finishes the crippled first Agano, while the second is wasted by Hoofberra's Anti-Ship missiles. The battle suddenly flipped into the Americans favor. The San Francisco claims two more Fubuki's while the Stormes kills the last one. The third Agano Disengages. “Allen M. here, we got something big heading our way.” “What is it?” Before the Summers could reply, a massive vessel exploded out of the rocking seas, it's large 14” guns turn onto the flotilla. “BATTLESHIP! Kongo class!” “All ships, engage!” “This is USS Nevada, we're engaging.” “Hoofberra, aquiring target.” The Kongo opens fire, several shells narrowly miss the destroyers while one sends the San Francisco's port anchor onto the deck. The Hoofberra sends a few missiles at the battleship, doing little damage to the 'invulnerable' sections while Nevada's heavy shells annihilates her engines. The battle would go on for another half-hour, the Allen M's launch their torpedoes at the Gorgon Battleship while it and the Nevada slug each other with heavy shells and the guided missile frigate would throw more missiles at it. But in the end, the Kongo would succumb to her wounds, and die. Like all battles, none could be won without sacrifice, the American flotilla had lost the Charles but saved most of the crew. The Laffy and Wallace were badly damaged while the Nevada and San Francisco suffered light damage. Tonight will mark the Americans first night time victory, tomorrow will mark the start of the American/Equestrian Naval Campaign to retake the Equestrian Seas, then the Hoofcific. Author's Note Hey guys, sorry this took me a while to do, have been busy with a few RP's and getting settled back into school for the last time. It's hard to believe that it's nearly been a year since I sailed into FIMfiction, I have met a lot of good people and have read many great stories, and here I am, writing one myself! But it wouldn't have been possible if wasn't for you guys, the feedback, suggestion and historical facts you have given me had really helped me get this far, so to all my fellow readers and followers... Thank. You! "I'll see you on the Naval Battlefield, sailors, Missouri, out!" //-------------------------------------------------------// Battle of the Equestrian Seas //-------------------------------------------------------// Battle of the Equestrian Seas Wednesday January 23rd, 1946 (Earth period) ONI HQ, Manehattan 06:00 hours "In the wake of the Gorgons failure to break the building U.S blockades of the Equestrian Seas has forced a change in their tactics and have focus their attacks on our least formidable formations. Over the past two weeks since our arrival en mass we have lost sixteen ships, all destroyers, and another four destroyers and eight cruisers knocked out of action." "Damn." Nimitz shook his head. The Seventh Fleet had only been in Equestria for more than a fortnight and already things were drawing to a standstill between the U.S and Gorgon Navies. Standing over a large Everfree crafted table overlooking a large drawn out map of the Western Equestrian Seas spreading as far as north as the Equestrian/Crystal Empire border and as far south as Pinehoof Valley and stretches 12 miles west to meet the Hoofcific Ocean. Another drawn out map beside him shows all the equestrian owned islands scattered about the large ocean. "What's the status of the Eastern fleet?" Nimitz turns to Steel Waters. "Well, after what happened to the Western Fleet a couple of months back, there not keen on taking part in the conflict. Morale is at an all time low." Steel Waters sighed. "We're having the same issues with morale in the Guards. It's like if one Gorgon lands on our beaches and everyone will be running for the hills." Shinning grumbled. Spitfire, who was tasked for taking command of all Wonderbolt forces along the west coast couldn't help but feel sorry for the other two Commanders. This war had been real hard on the Equestrians, and the worst thing about it is that they weren't capable of hitting back against an enemy who was truly proving to be an overwhelming force, sure magic had helped them get this far. But this is an Industrial War, where magic is replaced with technology and machines. MANEHATTAN STRATEGIC AIR FORCE BASE USAF Strategic Operations/Wonderbolt Joint Command HQ 11:45 hours Following the conclusion of the morning meeting several hours ago, Spitfire stood on the end of western approach runway as DC-47 touches down on the opposite end. Ever since the Engineers had laid down the first tarmac, planes of many types and varieties have been flying in, from the Navy's best fighters to the unstoppable "Superforts". As the Skytrain rolls to a stop, Spitfire fixes her uniform, the rear passenger door opens, she takes her position. Looking up she eyes an elder man steeping off of the plane, dressed in his full General uniform, aged in his mid-fifties, this man is one of many that has marked his place in in USAF history. The one and only General Carl Andrew. Spaatz. Spaatz was assigned by Truman to take command of all USAF assets in Equestria and work in collaboration along side Spitfire and her Wonderbolt Squadrons. Following behind Spaatz was MacArthur who will be leading the Marines and the upcoming Amphibious Operations. "General Spaatz, General MacArthur." Spitfire saluted the two Generals "Colonel Spitfire. It's an honor to meet you." Spaatz saluted back before exchanging a handshake with Spitfire. As the trio were about to discuss business, the sirens scream aloud, fighter pilots flood the tarmac for their planes. High above the skies, radar installations keep track of the approaching threat from overseas, another Dragon raid was imminent. Due to the base being divided between the Air Force, their Navy counterparts and the Wonderbolts stationed there, both Navy and Air Force fighters have their own designated runways to take off from while the Wonderbolts could just take to the skies from their part of the base, hence they don't fly over the runways while there still in operation. Several thousand feet above and four miles from the air base wave after wave of dragon squadrons plow their way for the airfield, dodging the killer mushrooms and their newly acquired set of armour should give them some protection. Us Dragons once ruled the Equestrian skies, none of the opposing nations stood against our might, not even the Equestrian Pegasai could rival them. We were unstoppable... Ti'll they meet what those new beings called, the 'Fighter'. What else could you define a Fighter? They don't just fight, these Humans made them to simply kill anything that stand in their way, we were that one thing that stood in their way. *KA-POW* More flak coat the Equestrian skies, one shell strikes a Dragon right into his exposed gut, sending him, and his intestines spiraling into the seas. Less than a mile ahead were the unmistakable shapes of the Wonderbolts with fighters not far behind heading straight at the flight. The Elder-Dragon gave a battle cry as he and several Interceptor Dragons charged. The Elder launches a fireball at the flock of Pegasai, causing them to scatter as US fighters opened up with machine gun fire and air launched rockets. Back at base, Bomber-Dragons were attacking in full force, dropping their lava bombs on any parked aircraft that posed a threat to the GLA before diving in on defense installations and Wonderbolt targets. "Watch out!" MacArthur yelled as a lava bomb whizzed overhead, slamming into a fuel truck. "This is crazy! Was it always like this in the war?" Spitfire asked, now wearing a helmet that was similar to what the British wore during air raids. "At certain points, but the Japs never reached our Homefront." MacArthur replied. "You should've seen what London had to go through in the early years!" Spaatz told Spitfire. Another explosion rocks their air raid trench, dirt and fire embers showered around them. "Goddammit! They're getting dirt all over my medals!" MacArthur cursed. Back up in the skies, casualties on all sides were starting to mount. The Wonderbolts are having a hard time keeping the Dragons busy while fighters constantly strafe them, those armed with rockets take extra care to get a perfect aim. By noon, the enemy vanished over the horizon. The all clear was given as everyone move about to examine the damage. As MacArthur and Spaatz inspect the HQ, Spitfire rushes to the Wonderbolt branch of the base. Compared to the rest of the base, it was chaos. The recruitment center was destroyed with a large portion of the barracks. She spots Fleetfoot being loaded into an ambulance, then the body bags being layed out. This would mark the start of the Wonderbolt's darkest days. Monday 28th January 1946 (Earth Period) 00:28 Hours Following the recent surprise attack on the air base last week, the Gorgon assault has been intensifying. They know they have us pinned against the wall, sending in ships faster than we can sink 'em. But unless we can strike a crushing blow on the Gorgon Navy, the battle for the Equestrian Seas could be in jeopardy for the U.S Navy. Harmony Penthouse, Harmony State Building Manehattan, Equestria 11:30pm Tuesday January 29th, 1946 (Earth Period) Some ponies could say that standing on top of this building was like standing on top of the world, and they were right. The Elements were given special access by Princess Celestia to their own personal penthouse on top of Equestria's tallest building during their stay in Manehattan. Ever since the first salvos flew at Cheesecake Bay, Twilight was given a personal assignment from Luna to uncover the mysterious barrier that protects the USS Missouri which is currently under 'Magic Quarantine' till either Twilight or Luna can figure out why the Elements are powering the barrier and if possible, figure out how the powerful artifacts and the U.S battleship are linked? Having spent all day trying to come up with a theory to why the Elements of Harmony and the Missouri are linked. Twilight was exhausted. “Twilight, darling, you should get some rest. You've been staring out that window ever since we first set hoof into this room.” Rarity, who was dressed for bed asked with concern. “I know, Rarity, it's just... How did we get into this?” Twilight pointed her hoof out towards the busy harbor where the Seventh Fleet sleeps. “What do you mean?” Rarity asked with confusion. “...The war, Rarity, how did we get involved in all of this?” Twilight turned to face the Fashionista. “Twilight, you know we're not completely involved in all of that. We're here because Equestria needs hope.” Rarity trotted to Twilight's side. “What hope is there if the Gorgons have the Americans pinned to the wall? What hope is there if we can't fight a war where we had to drag an alien race into our world to do the fighting for us! It's just not fair.” Twilight shook her head. “Twilight.” Rarity places a hoof on the stressed unicorn's shoulder. “I for one might not know a thing on how war goes, but for all I know is that we're not going to win this one by sitting down and bashing ourselves just because another race from a different universe are more than willing to risk their lives to fight for our lives, our freedom, our harmony.” “You're right, Rarity.” Twilight sighed before pulling the seamstress into a sisterly hug. “Thanks, I needed some confidence to get my head out of the cloud, and when did you learn to speak like that?” “I had a friend who recently migrated to Austalia before the civil war ten years ago. Back when Patriotism was a fancy Austalion word.” Rarity remarked. As Twilight was about to continue the discussion, a series of thunderous booms shattered the Manehattan night-life as multiple explosions shook the air base followed by the wail of sirens and the thunder of retaliating shore batteries and ships anchored nearby. “Looks like Spitfire is gonna have a long night.” Twilight remorse. “The poor mare, I don't know how she can cope with coordinating the Wonderbolts with the American Air Force while the enemy are dropping bombs on her roof... Isn't she promoted Head of the Equestrian Air Fleet as well?” Rarity asked. “I'm not so sure...” Twilight yawned. “All I know is that the Austalions and the Kangaroos are finally discussing peace talks after Austalia declared war on the Gorgons, and Nimitz told me that the U.S Third Fleet led by another Admiral named Halsey will be arriving tomorrow with the Austalion Western Fleet. I'm gonna hit the hay, Good night, Rarity.” “Good night darling, now go get some rest, got a big day tomorrow.” Rarity spoke merrily. As Twilight trotted to her room, Rarity takes a final glance at the escalating battle only to flinch as a U.S ammo dump goes up, the shockwave rattles the building slightly. Looking away, Rarity too returns to her bedroom. 09:30 hours TEN HOURS LATER Wednesday January 30th, 1946 (Earth Period) Somewhere near Equestria ETA to U.S/Austalion/Equestrian reinforcements: 1 hour, 18 minutes. ETA to Gorgon/GLA Combined Fleet: 45 minutes USS GATO (SS-212) As daylight breaks over Equestria, along the Equestrian Seas a GLA transport group is en-route to a rendezvous point where the enemy was massing for the knockout blow on Manehattan. As the group of tall ships sailed on, a lone Gato class submarine was trailing them. Roughly several hundred meters back and soaring at periscope depth, the USS Gato stalks it's prey. https://img.youtube.com/vi/ZV-QF7VeSSA/mqdefault.jpg “Enemy formation maintaining present course, speed, twelve knots.” The boat's X.O in his early twenties informs his C.O. “And so far nothing of interest, thank you, Lieutenant. Send word to Manehattan HQ, tell them that enemy convoy designated 17-B has no leads.” Gato's C.O, currently manning the periscope replied. “Aye, aye sir. Hostile convoy 17-B has no leads, sending Intel t-” “Wait! Hold that order.” The boat's Captain interrupted. “Captain! Multiple vessels on sonar! They're surrounding some sort of surface-based construct?” The Sonar Operator called out. “Where?” The Captain asked. “Dead ahead of convoy 17-B, two miles away.” “We need to get ahead of this convoy. Helmsman, adjust rudder to twenty five degrees Starboard. Increase speed to twenty knots.” “Aye, aye Sir! Twenty five degrees Starboard, increase speed to twenty knots.” As the boat maneuvers around the lumbering convoy, the Captain makes an oblivious discovery. “So that's why they're being reinforced so quickly! Looks like they got their own portal...” The C.O eyes the so-called construct. It's architecture was Neo-Classical, the portal gate was four hundred feet in diameter and stood three hundred feet high. On top was a small Roman pillar with Medusa's emblem with her signature head, underneath it was an eagle with it's wings spread underneath the head. In it's claws was the Nazi Swastika. “I have a bad feeling about this...” “CONTACT! Multiple submerged bogies on intercept!” The Sonar Operator alerts the Captain. “Flush the tubes, Fire on my mark!” The Captain steps back from the periscope and takes his post as the bridge was dimmed in red light and the Klaxon blared. “General Quarters, General Quarters, all hands man your battlestations!” “Lieutenant, send word to H.Q. Tell them we've located an enemy portal at these co-ordinates; Longitude: One hundred and five degrees West. Latitude: Twelve degrees South.” “Yes sir, breaking radio silence.” The Lieutenant replied. “Enemies flushing their tubes, we got incoming fish!” The sonar man called out. “Evasive maneuvers, fire tubes one and two at the closest bogie!” “Aye, aye, Captain.” “Enemy torps, five hundred meters and closing!” “Gato, Gato, this is Manehattan H.Q. We got you're transmission. We're sending the co-ordinates you sent us to a combined assault force tailing you. Clear the area of hostile subs so that the Texas can move in and take out the portal, Gato.” “Copy that, H.Q. We're engaging the enemy wolfpack.” “Rodger, Gato, good hunting, H.Q, out.” “Looks like our job here is done boys. Helmsman, take us into the hornets nest.” “Aye, aye, sir.” “Gato, this is Hunter, we're on scene, ready to mop up!” “Copy that, Hunter. We'll keep the U-boats busy and you focus on the portal. And keep the depth charges off us will ya?” “Rodger that, Gato. Stay safe, Hunter out.” U.S Combined Naval/Air Assault Task-force, callsign: Hunter/Arrowhead ETA to portal: Thirty seconds ETA to Texas arrival: Five minutes As Gato starts it's one sub assault, up on the surface, a combined assault force consisting of eight Elco PT boats, Two Fletcher class Destroyers, five F4U Corsairs and three B-25 Mitchell's charge the blockade head on. “All Hunter units, split into Hunter groups 'One' and 'Two' and maintain attack vector!” The Commanding Officer of the USS Radford ordered. “Anyone seen our top cover?” The Commanding Officer of the USS Halford asked. “Halford, this is Arrowhead Squadron. We're coming up on your six.” “Wilco, Arrowhead. How's our approach?” “So far no surface contacts, they must be underwater. Proceed with caution.” “Portal, dead ahead!” “Hit it!” Radford was the first to open up, sending salvos at the portal. But as the shells reach the portal, a Gorgon destroyer of Italian design jumps from her underwater battlestation, catching the shells as it falls back into the water. Three more destroyers surfaced along with two Kuma class light cruisers. “Looks like we kicked the hornets nest, all ships, break attack vector and unload every torpedo you have at that blockade!” “Arrowhead, attacking enemy vessels.” As the fighter dived at the enemy formation and the bombers start their runs, one of the kuma's mid-section... Transformed into some sort of large cannon that some could mistake for an enlarged 88mm Flak gun and trained itself on the bomber formation. “Bombers! Watch out!” one of the Corsair pilots warned, but it was too late. The cannon fired, but instead of a large flak shell, it unleashed a pulsing beam of dark magic at the bombers, vaporizing two of the bombers and knocking the last out of the sky. “Holy shit! What is that thing!” One pilot screamed. “I lost control, I can't pull up!” The surviving bomber's pilot spoke his last words before his plane nose dived into the ocean. “Take out that cruiser, now!” Halford's C.O demanded. “Texas, what's your ETA?” “We'll be in firing range in three minutes, just hang on!” Texas' Commanding Officer replied. As 'Hunter' continues their assault, the Corsairs dive at the converted cruiser, firing their rockets at it's anti-air laser-like cannon. One pilot scores a lucky hit at the gun's energy core, triggering a cataclysmic explosion that sent the large gun twenty feet in the air and broke the cruiser's back. “That was for Johnathan and his crew you son of a bitch.” “Amen, Matt.” “Fire those torpedoes now!” The PT groups leader barked. The group of four Elco P.Ts emptied their four tubes each at the blockade. Several torps struck the second cruiser and left one destroyer in flames. While underneath the ocean surface, Gato had already sunk half the subs present. Either sheer luck, or whoever was operating these U-boats have little to no experience in submarine-warfare. As enemy torps miss Gato by a hundred meters, Gato fires another two torps at the pack, both striking a boat causing it to roll off course and collide with her comrade boat before sinking into the abyss. What remained of the wolfpack had exhausted their torpedoes, turn tailed and retreated for the portal. “Enemy U-Boats are disengaging, we got em' running scared.” “This is one battle I'll never forget. How are we doing for fish.” “We only got a few more torpedoes left.” “Guess we'll have to make them all count then...” “Hunter, this is Arrowhead, we've exhausted our ammunition and need to return to base.” “Rodger, Arrowhead, thanks for the assist, Hunter out.” “Two destroyers left!” “C'mon, lets finish these bastards!” As the second P.T group charges an Akizuki class, both Halford and Radford focuses on a Kamikaze class. The P.T group quickly closes on the Akizuki and launch their fish, while the Akizuki uses small arms and AA fire to repel the torpedo boats but is hit by three torpedoes to the portside bow. Halford and Radford bombards the Kamikaze with their 5” guns, the Kamikaze returns fire with her Type 3 120mm guns. Halford scores three hits to Kamikaze's fuel stores and Radford scores two hits to Kamikaze's gun directors while taking a hit to her rear depth charge stores. The P.T group makes another run at the listing Akizuki, the destroyer limps to broadside, bringing it's aft guns on the P.T group and fires. The Elco's were caught in a barrage of flak and bullets. one P.T was strucked by a flak shell and ignites her torpedoes, sending the front half of the boat fifty feet high and in a million pieces. Another ill fated P.T is hit by another flak detonating above the exposed cockpit of the boat, dicing the operator, navigator, radio operator and a gunner. The pilotless boat veered uncontrollably off course and collided with another Elco, putting both boats upside down and their crews in the water. Only one P.T stood against the odds but continued for her target, despite having three of her four launchers jammed from shrapnel in their firing mechanisms it would only need one lucky strike to send the destroyer up in a colossal explosion. Halford and Radford had finished the Kamikaze with a little help from Gato. “Hunter Actual to Texas, are you in range yet?” USS TEXAS (BB-35) “INCOMING!!!” One of Texas' senior officers screamed as heavy shells rain over the Dreadnought, the large guns of Texas trains onto the Gorgon Fuso class battleship named Tyrant's vain that just ambushed her and her destroyer escorts. Outgunned and with no help for miles, Texas is facing her toughest battle yet. “Negative! We've been ambushed by a Gorgon battleship, we have deck damage but nothing serious. We might not be able to destroy the portal, just make sure nothing else gets through!” Texas' radio operator replied. “With what, Texas!? We got nothing left that can do some serious damage!” The bridge crew was rocked off their feet as the first large shell slams into Texas' starboard side, below her tripod structure. While the Fuso focuses it's fire on Texas, a small portion of it's guns didn't let up on the escorting destroyer on Texas' starboard side which now lies battered and in flames. The other destroyer could only use the dreadnought as a shield against it's annihilation, waiting for the right moment to emerge and unleash her payload of torpedoes at the opposing battleship. But for now, it's the showdown of the Gorgon flagship and the Pacific Lone Star. Texas takes the draw as her 5 14/45 cal. guns fires their barrage of southern born justice at the Tyrant's Vain, scoring multiple hits along her broadside and knocking out a number of her secondary batteries. “Reload! Reload!” The Gunners Mate of turret two sounded as the gun crew rushes to reload the mighty guns. The Fuso retaliates with it's barrage of shells at Big-T, one shell pierces straight through her single funnel, several more shells peppered turret three, causing significant damage to the barbette and knocking two of three starboard 5”/51 guns out of commission. “Sir, turret three's been knocked out!” “Dammit, we're taking a beating already!” “Captain, fire has broken out in Engineering and Aft fuel stores!” 'Texas, this is USS Ringgold. We're going to use the smoke coming off you as cover so we can drop back, slip through the smoke and launch our fish, over?' “Copy that, Ringgold, make it quick! We're getting decimated.” 'We're making our move now! Focus all fire on her mid-section, that's where were aiming our torps, Texas.' “Rodger that. All guns focus fire on the mid-section.” Any guns that was still operational adjusted their aim at the larger dreadnought and fired, raining death and hatred at her enemy while the destroyer cuts her engines to get behind Texas. Most of Texas' shells stuck the Tyrant's midships, weakening most of the hull's strength. The Fuso fires back, it's shells pepper the aging warship causing further damage to turret three and her engines. “Captain, I don't know how long we can keep taking this punishment.” “Then lets just hope Ringgold's torps hit their mark or this is going to end badly.” Another series of hits rocks Texas as the Fuso's forward guns fire their deadly payloads at Texas' bow, blasting the starboard anchor off and penetrates the thick armor. 'All fire crews report to the bow! Repeat! We have fire near the forward magazines!' “Where the hell is Ringgold!?” 'Texas, this is Ringgold, we're making our run!' And out of the smoke and fire trialing behind Big-T, the small destroyer bursts forth and charges towards the Tyrant's Vain at flank speed. “Ringgold, check your course, you're heading straight at her.” 'No need, Texas...' “What do mean, Ringgold?” 'Let's face it, one of us is going home from this battle... So it might as well be you, Big-T.' “Ringgold, you're well in range to launch your fish, straighten up and fire now before she gets her guns onto you!” 'Too late, she's seen us!' And as seen from the bridge, the Fuso's whole broadside was targeting the fragile ship racing at her. “Ringgold, evasive action!” 'Negative! If we pull out, we're all dead! Withdraw, Texas. Let this Tin-Can show these freakshows the true meaning of sacrifice!' “...God bless you, Ringgold, give em' hell.” “Will do, send Medusa our regards... Ringgold out.” This would be the last conversation between Texas and Ringgold as the crippled Dreadnought pulls away, leaving the tide of the battle in the hands of the crew of the Ringgold as she stands alone, facing impossible odds. It was Ringgold's ten loaded torpedoes against the Tyrant's twelve 14” main guns and seven 50cm/50. secondary guns all glowing an eerie sage green as they charge up for the killing blow. In the last moments, Ringgold makes a hard left turn... and fires her torps. As the torpedoes were seconds from impact, the Tyrant's guns reach maximum charge and fires her last barrage as time slows down as the torpedoes strike their mark. The Tyrant's entire broadside slams into Ringgold, obliterating her in seconds, leaving no survivors. Ringgold's torpedoes tear into the Tyrant's hull and detonate her Dark Magic fueled engines, triggering a cataclysmic explosion that rips the tyrant in two. Then silence plagued the battlefield. “Captain...” Texas' X.O addressed the now troubled C.O. “This is a day I'd never thought I had to witness.” 'Texas, this is Radford. The portal has been destroyed, I don't know how, but when you took down that Fuso, the portal... Self-destructed.' “We didn't kill that Fuso, Radford... It was Ringgold's kill.” '...What happened?' “...” 'Oh, shit.' Author's Note Man this month was a rush hour! Anyways all that matters is that I finally got this chapter finished! On to the next one. "See you on the Naval Battlefield!" //-------------------------------------------------------// We'll meet at Mareway //-------------------------------------------------------// We'll meet at Mareway Sunday, Febuary 3rd, 1946 (Earth Period) GLA/Gorgon occupied Mareway Naval Base. Mareway Atoll, Central Hoofcific Ocean 01:30 Hours In the past weeks since the Gorgon defeat in the 'Battle for the Equestrian Seas' both sides have been preparing for the upcoming 'Hoofcific War'. The backbone of the Gorgon Navy had just arrived at the occupied Equestrian base and have begun preperations to convert the atoll in an inpenetrable fortress that can repel the largest of naval assaults and withstand a ten year seige by a million troops. However achieving this goal will cost time, resources and manpower. Fortunately for the GLA Slavers, they have access to the large numbers of Equine POWs throughout the atoll. Down at the captured naval base on the east end of the island, most of the piers are flooded with troop ships and supply transports. The transports aren't due to be unloaded for a few hours leaving most of the base empty with a few guards to patrol the docks. Leading an entire army was one thing but infiltrating a heavily fortified island base was completely new to General Patton having stowed away on a freighter that arrived from the Gorgon mainland, now he has to sneak his way past the guards and out of the base before sunrise but he had plenty of time. Having criscrossed though the small city of containers and eluded several patrols, an exit was finally in sight. Carefully looking around for any guards but sees none, he makes a move for the exit. From there he'll have to make his way to the military headquarters. MAREWAY H.Q. 02:00 HOURS After a brisk thirty minute walk, Patton was in sight of the island's HQ. A basic stone fort but it's structural material being replaced with the stronger Gorgon Obsidian material. At the front entrance he spots two night guards; a Minotaur who looked like he spends too much time at the gym, and a griffon who doesn't like having the jokes put on her. Not far are a couple more guards around a camp fire while Gorgon Sentries look out for trouble on the fort's high walls. The chances of getting in were slim, he'll have to find an alternate way in or convince the enemy that he's on their side. “Hey, Iron Will, what time is it?” The Griffon asked the Minotaur who pulled a pocket watch from his slightly oversized armor chestplate. “Iron Will says... Oh two hundread hours on the dot!” The Griffon simply gave a quizical look. “It's military time for two a.m in the morning, Gilda.” “You know it would be easier if you said two o' clock...” Gilda shook her head. “And isn't our new General suppose to here by now?” “You know our generals, always running late.” “Too true...” “A general always runnin' late is a bad general.” Patton mumbled. Looking towards the rear of the fort, he makes out the silhouette of dock extending back from the rear of the fort. 'Looks like I'll have to take my chances going in from the back door.' And with that thought said, Patton slips back into the tropic shrubs and sneaks his way towards the rear pier from the beach. By the time Patton reached the pier, more activity breaks out around the fort. As additional Sentries manned the wall a contingent of troops storm the pier, forcing Patton to dive under before he was spotted. Seeing what the commotion was about, A loud buzzing noise of a slightly decorated gunboat was approaching the dock. Patton couldn't see who was on the boat but it was obvious it was transporting someone important. The Gunboat's engine shuts down as it's moornings have been secured, the person of interest exits the boat with his escorts and start their way back to the fort. Peering from cover Patton carefully scans the parimiter once more before slipping back underneath the pier. Manehattan 07:00 hours Several hours ahead of Mareway's Time Zone, Celestia's majestic sun rose from Equestria's East and shines down on a fully recovering city of Manehattan. Thanks to U.S action during the 'Battle of the Equestrian Seas', the United States armed forces had once again faced all odds and successfully defeated the Gorgon Navy and prevented a possible GLA invasion on Equestrian soil as U.S, Austalion, Crystal Empire and Equestrian reinforcements arrive in time to relieve the Seventh Fleet. Standing on the flight deck of the docked USS Saratoga, Admiral Nimitz spent what free time he had this morning to take in the massive coalation fleet building up inside the harbour and the growing Equestrian Zepelin Fleet in the skies around the city. But what really got him up was to oversee the arrival of the Austalion Eastern Fleet. Joining the Sydneigh and Hoofberra are five Guided Missile Destroyers, five Giuded Missile Cruisers and one Guided Missile Battleship. “Never thought I see so many ships in one spot... let alone all being warships.” Twilight's voice broke Nimitz' focus. “It's something you'll get used to during wartime.” Nimitz replied, lighting a cigar. “I hope not, I've aleady seen a lot suffering for the past month.” Twilight shook her head. “Then lets hope this is the last time this city is attacked.” “Agreed... I see the Austalions have sent their Support Group from the Eastern Fleet.”Twilight points out towards the futuristic ships sailing past Harmony Island. “How much do you about their Navy?” Nimitz asked. “Not much.” Twilight shook her head. “All we know is that they got their technology from the Kangaroo Union.” “I thought the Kangaroos were a tribal nation?” “That's what we thought when the first settlers arrived on the east coast one hundred and fifty years ago. But at the time the nation was divided between the East Tribal-Lands who wanted to maintain their tribal ways, and the Western Union which also comprised of tribes united themselves to build a powerful nation which would become an industrial giant when the settlers made first contact with the Union.” Twilight explained. “So what happened after that?” Nimitz asked with growing intrest. “After that, the Union offered aid and assistance to help build colonies for the settlers. The leader of the colonisation mission, Govenor Geoffrey, wanted to learn more about the advanced nation. But the Union refused to reveal anything about their technology, fearing that word would get out across the world about them and other nations would try to gain access to them. So Govenor Geoffrey asked 'What would it take for us to gain access to your resources?' The Kangaroos told him to cut ties with Equestria. Geoffrey did what they requested.” “I'm guessing Celestia didn't take kindly on that?” “After that, Geoffrey sent a letter to Celestia saying that the colony was overwhealmed by Changeling Slavers and the survivors were forced into the sea. And we never heard from them again till twelve years ago...” “So it took curiosity and possibly greed to lie to the Princess just to break off and take the technological jump with a nation that they just made contact with?” “That's what I assumed at first, but I never really got time to read up on the modern history of Equestria.” “It's never too late to update?” Nimitz suggested. “I guess so...” Twilight agreed. “I'd better be going, Celestia is holding a meeting with the other top brass prior the Austalion Admiral's arrivial.” Nimitz starts his way towards the island stucture of the carrier to disembark. “I'd better head back to the Missouri, still have a lot of work to do in solving the spell the ship is under.” Twilight joined the Admiral where both disembark the Saratoga and made their seperate ways. ONI HQ War Room 12:00 Hours It's only been a few years after the Office of Naval Intelligence was founded after Austalion and Kangaroo Union warships showed up on Equestria's doorstep, but Celestia wasn't expecting it to be this busy. Princess Celestia stood at the main entrance of the War Room, alive with non-stop activity. The room is a massive circular hall fifty meters in diameter and divided between the main floor, which takes up 80% of the space with circular tables that goes all the way around the circular hall with four isles that leads to the strategic map which sits on a lower platform which takes up the remaining 20% of the space. “I'd never thought it would ever get this busy?” Celestia said to herself. “Not as busy as CINPAC though.” Nimitz spoke. “Ah, Admiral Nimitz, and a good morning to you too.” Celestia turned to see Nimitz joined by Admiral William Halsey, General Carl Andrew Spaatz, and newly appointed Supreme Commander Douglas MacArthur. “Princess, this is Admiral Halsey of the U.S Third Fleet.” Nimitz points to Halsey. “How do you do, your Highness.” Halsey shook Celestia's hoof. “And this is General Carl Andrew Spaatz of the United States Army Air Force.” “Hello, Princess.” Spaatz took Celestia's hoof. “And you remember Douglas right?” Nimitz points to MacArthur. “Ah, Supreme Commander MacArthur.” Celestia shook MacArthurs hand. “We meet in Washington when I meet your leader, President Truman.” “Thats right.” MacArthur replied. “She was in Washington?” Spaatz whispered to Nimitz in slight shock, to which he replied with a slight nod. “Anyone seen our Aussie guests?” Celestia asked. On cue, the main double doors opened, revealing a small group of Austalion Ponies and Kangaroo Officers entered the room. The flurrying activity in the room was dropped to a dead silence, some of the Kangaroo Marines gripped their weapons tightly while several ONI Agents readied stun spells and Equestrian Royal Guardsponies move to protect the Princess for when the tension breaks and everyone starts shooting. The Americans present know what was to occur if someone doesn't defuse the situation quickly. “You must be the Austalion Admiral?” Nimitz spoke out the Unicorn leading the group. “Depends who asking?” The said Unicorn faced the American Admiral. “Chester Nimitz, United States Navy.” “Oh! You must be the Aliens from the alternate world, no insult intended.” The Austalion beamed. “None taken, Admiral...” “Geoffrey, Admiral King Geoffrey Jr. Son of King Geoffrey Snr. of the Austalion/Kangaroo Congress of the Austalion/Kangaroo Republic.” The Unicorn Spoke his name which shocked some Equestrians, including Celestia. “Geoffrey...” Celestia spoke “The last time I heard that name was on a scroll sent by him to me that the colony was being overrun by Changeling Slavers.” “It has been... What, one hundred and fifty years ago.” Geoffrey replied. “Indeed. Gentlemen, we'll go over the offensive plans another time.” Celestia spoke to the American Officers before turning back to Geoffrey. “We need to talk, in private.” “Yes, Ma'am.” Geoffrey replied as both parties exited the War Room, minus the Americans. “What the hell just happened?” Halsey demanded in confusion. “I don't know... But I know somepony that might know.” Nimitz replied as he started his way out. “Where are you going, Chester?” MacArthur asked. “For a walk. Carl, can you see if the Equestrians can give us a copy of the map for us to go over privately?” “Sure thing.” Spaatz nodded his head in agreement. “Alright, i'll see you guys on the Iowa.” Nimitz left the War Room. “Just hope Twilight's caught up on her history.” Author's Note Holy shit!
