Ensis let out a small sigh. She had finally made it out of that ridiculous forest, and had arrived to the town she had been planning to visit- Ponyville.
She looked around the the town, examining the various buildings and inhabitants. Ponies were walking around, going about their usual, daily routines. After noticing a few of them glancing at her, she became aware of how she may look after going through the forest. She bent down her head and attempted to smooth down her dark brown, curly mane. She lifted her head once more, and began to walk through the town.
She was getting a bit hungry, so naturally, she looked for places to get some food. Of course, being the mature unicorn she was, she decided to go to the bakery. Ensis entered the store, and was met with the smell of various baked goods. Muffins, loaves of bread, cookies, and cakes were all displayed, each one looking as tasty as the last. Ensis turned towards the counter as she heard a gasp.
"Oh my gosh! Somebody I haven't met! Ooh, who are you? I'm Pinkie Pie, but you can call me Pinkie!"
The bright pink earth pony hopped up and down, and walked around Ensis in circles, grinning the whole time, blue eyes sparkling with curiosity. The white unicorn frowned the slightest bit, confused the slightest bit, before answering.
"My name is Ensis Auctor. Nice to meet you," she muttered, looking around. The pink earth pony didn't pay much heed to Ensis' evident feeling of being uncomfortable, and grinned more.
"Nice to meet you, Ensis! What a silly name. Ooh, you need to meet my friends, come on!"
Pinkie grabbed Ensis and dragged her outside, and Ensis gazed longingly back at the bakery, practically hearing the baked goods calling out for her. Soon, the earth pony had dragged her to a park, letting out a yell.
"I'm here! Look, I brought a new friend!"
Several birds flew off, and a pink maned pegasus let out a small cry of surprise, before muttering a greeting to Pinkie Pie. Spotting the strange white unicorn with the dark brown mane, she lowered her gaze and hid behind her gaze, shyly.
"O-oh, hello."
"Hello. I'm Ensis Auctor, nice to meet you."
The shy pony nodded, and shifted uncomfortably, and was about to say something when Pinkie dragged Ensis off to the library. Feeling faintly annoyed, Ensis wondered what it could be that made the pony so hyperactive, but blinked when she saw where they were.
Pinkie had shoved her into a tree house- or rather, a house made inside a tree- filled with books. It occurred to her Pinkie had brought her to the library, and she began to turn to Pinkie to thank her before blinking and pausing. An owl was perched nearby, simply watching. Ensis blinked, rather unnerved by it, and was going to ask why an owl was in the library before a purple alicorn trotted downstairs, followed by a small dragon.
"Twilight, look! It's a new pony!"
Ensis blinked. Twilight as in Twilight Sparkle? The news of a unicorn being made a princess had reached as far as her homeland, and she was fairly surprised to meet her.
The alicorn smiled, before introducing herself, proving yes, she was indeed the Twilight Sparkle, and yes, the owl was meant to be there. She also introduced the dragon, Spike, who immediately turned to Ensis.
"I agree, that owl is weird," he whispered to her. Ensis nodded, before turning to them.
"Sorry, but I'm a bit tired, and need to stay somewhere, so mind telling me of a hotel or something of the sort?"
Twilight shook her head, before surprising Ensis.
"No, no, you can stay here if you like! It won't be a problem, I promise you."
Ensis blinked, before accepting the offer and being showed where she would sleep.
Chapter 2- Dreaming and Day Two
Ensis had settled down to sleep, and after an hour or two of staying awake, had managed to doze off. She found herself dreaming of a rather pleasant day back home, going around the university, talking to the professors and a few of the students, and going to get some tasty, tasty cakes from the bakery.
Around then the dream took on a more startling turn, where she was met by Pinkie Pie in the bakery and not her friend, then ran out to try and get back home, to see she was in Ponyville. Various ponies began to surround her, sneering and glaring, before charging at her, aiming to wound. She had galloped off to the library to try and find some peace and sanctuary, only to have Twilight and Spike and the owl there, ready to attack her as well. She ran up the stairs, attempting to avoid them, and made it upstairs, and went to close and lock the door before it was slammed open and the ponies of the town all charged in, forcing her to back up, up to the window, until she fell out. She let out a scream, knowing fully well she wa going to break her neck, but then woke up.
She looked around the room with wild eyes, breathing quickly and still panicking. Twilight looked down at her, concerned, and was about to ask her something before Ensis interrupted.
"No, no, I'm fine. Happens a bunch for me."
The alicorn shrugged it off, before heading downstairs, and Ensis followed, stepping carefully over Spike's tail, as the small dragon was still sleeping. Twilight got some cereal out for the two of them, and they ate in silence, before Twilight chose to break the silence.
"So, you're visiting Ponyville? Who have you met, besides Pinkie, of course?"
"There was a pegasus with a pink mane, I think she was named Fluttershy."
"Oh! That's great, then. She's a bit shy, so if she didn't talk to you, don't be offended. I think I'll introduce you to Applejack today. It would be less hassle than meeting Rainbow Dash and Rarity as well."
"Rainbow Dash and Rarity? I've heard of the latter, afraid I haven't heard a mutter about the first one."
"They're my friends. Rainbow Dash is a pegasus and she's fairly hot headed, you could say, at times. Rarity is.. Well, you've heard of her."
Ensis nodded, and the two soon finished the meal. By then Spike had awoken, and he quickly ate- faster than Ensis thought to be humanely possible- his breakfast, and the three set out to the orchard.
Ensis noticed it was a fairly large orchard, and that there seems to be a rather small amount of ponies there. An orange mare was bucking some trees, knocking the apples into baskets, and Twilight had to call out to her to get her attention. The earth pony turned around, and trotted over.
"Oh? Not from around here? Well, I'm Applejack! Pleasure to meet you! This is the my family's apple orchard."
"Ah. Nice to meet you as well, I'm Ensis Auctor. Yes, I'm from another kingdom entirely," the unicorn replied cooly, looking around. The trees went on for miles, and she could barely grasp how many apples there could be.
"Anyways, I'm about to make some apple pie. Wanna join me?"
"Oh, yes, please!"
Ensis galloped towards the house excitedly, and Applejack shook her head, laughing, before following close behind. This foreigner must sure love pie, she decided, as she entered the house and saw her getting out the stuff for baking.
They worked through the day, past sundown, making various pies and apple products, Ensis's favorite out of them all being the pie, of course. Applejack discovered that Ensis could go through at least three slices before she was satisfied, and that she became rather tired afterwards, as after they had began to eat the pie later at night, Ensis soon dozed off. Applejack went to get a blanket to cover the unicorn, before heading to bed herself.
Author's Note
Yeah, it's still pretty choppy, and I'm still unused to using canon characters.
