Shade was a minor noble, a daughter of the powerful Pearlheart family of Canterlot. She never asked for much, simply the love and care of her family and acceptance by those around her. However, being born with a jet black coat at birth was seen as a powerful omen by those she was closest to, and resulted in shunning throughout her life.
