Little Nightshade was tired of asking the older foals; Where did I come from??? How did I get here?????
The other foals asked that question once.. They stopped after they didn't get answers.. The one person who has answers, Mother, they were to afraid to ask her. She was very mysterious. Barely anypony saw her and the ones who have seen her in person.... Well they have been caught by Mistress Celestia's troops. Mother is usually with all the children in dreams. Little Nightshade has seen her many times in dreams. Mother always says " Together we are all lost on the moon". Everypony has heard her say that in dreams. It is 'her saying.'
Anyways, Nightshade was eventually put up with no answers. She needed them. For she felt that Mother's words were false. Nightshade was alone on the moon. One night while looking at her Mother's beautiful night she saw a strange figure wisp past her cavern door. It looked as a another pegasus but, there was an aura surrounding it's top half. It was gold. She thought it had to be an alicorn of Mother's type.
"Mother!" Nightshade proclaimed as her eyes got wide and she shot into the air and out her window.
" Mother wait!!!" She shouted after the figure. The figure halted and turned. Nightshade trembled in horror and realization. She know knew why Mother always said to hide in caves when a big creature flew by. The figure was not Mother,no, it was none other than Mistress Celestia herself.
" Child!? Who are you....calling..." Celestia paused and looked at me in horror before realizing that I was of her sister's.
"Young filly???" She said to me softly but in a tone of doubt.
" Y Yes M Mistress C...C....." She stopped to being shoved back by a different figure.
" Sister!!! What business does thou hath here???? This is my realm and you better leave before I kicketh thou royal flank!!!" It was Mother. She stood in front of Nightshade with her wings spread out blocking her view of Celestia.
"Luna, who is this young filly?????!!" Celestia said swooping to the sky and grabbing the terrified filly from behind.
"Mother!!!" Nightshade shouted. She had a tear running down her face. The mare holding her looked into her eyes.
" Young filly... You have no idea where you belong, do you??" With that Nightshade spread her wings trying to fly from the Mistress' grasp. She only held her tighter. Tears streaming down her face. " Do you!?" Nightshade stopped her squirming.
" No.. That's why I flew after you. I thought you were Mother and I was going to ask you." Mother grabbed the filly in her aura.
" Let go of my daughter sister." Luna said with determination. Celestia gasped and let go of Nightshade. Celestia was forming a dark look on her face.
" Where are the other fillies Luna." She asked with no emotion She was staring at Nightshade. " Where are they" She asked when Mother didn't answer.
" Sister.. Leave my kingdom at once. These are MY children of MY night and you can not take them." Mother said with power. She looked Nightshade then put the filly on her back. She whispered something in Celestia's ears and whatever it was made Celestia gasp in horror " For now you shall leave.. AT ONCE!" The last part she yelled so loud it shook through Nightshade's ears for a minute. Celestia looked back and forth between Mother and Nightshade. After a moment she nodded and left.
Mother looked at Nightshade and hugged her very tightly and warmly.
" Little filly... You could have gotten taken away! Now Go back to your room."Nightshade shook her head and flew out of her mother's arms.
" Mother! I had a question and I want an answer!!!" Nightshade said making her mother's eyes go wide. Finally Mother gave in and took the filly in her arms. She flew through the clouds leaving a trail of sparkly stars in view. They landed on a cloud. It was a soft cloud of grey.
Mother sat the filly on the cloud and looked at her warmly."
" Now I am gonna see you a song. Hopefully this will answer your question."
"Now Nightshade, my dear daughter of the night sky.." Mother said to the little filly who was playing with the cloud on which she sat. " I am going to need you to listen to the words carefully so you may understand."
Mother started to cough. Clearing her voice. Nightshade noticed how beautiful her mother was. Her blue coat looked like it had been stained with the night sky. And her mane..... A shimmering collection of stars resting by the moon. Her crown was black as the shadows, same with her horseshoes.
" Are you ready to listen" She asked Nightshade. All the filly did was nod. Still staring at the grace of her mother's mane.
Her mother started to sing. Nightshade felt her thoughts and eyes get very heavy. She found herself drifting as if the cloud was moving. She felt a strange pain in her stomach and everything went dark. Right before she fell unconscious she swore she heard he mother "Stay here! I will get help!!!"
I remember it like it was yesterday..... Though it was countless moons ago.
After HE was defeated, not much of our once beautiful home was left. And the two brave ones who stood up for us all. Ruled Equestria from then on. One day, the younger one, saddened by our daily struggles proposed to form a new colony! Where we would all grow strong and happy.... But the elder one forbade it....
For she felt that it would divide and shatter the weakened kingdom. Forever...
Nopony knows we are here....
Smiling beneath the moonlight remembering our dear mother.
For we will forever be....
Her children of the night..
Nightshade woke in a bed of clouds. Mistress Celestia was standing above her.
" What do you want! Where is my mother!? Get away!!" Nightshade said with tears in her eyes
Celestia jumped back in shock but then smiled in sympathy.
" Child I am NOT here to hurt you. I want to help and warn you." Nightshade was confused.
" Warn me? Why?" She asked the Mistress Celestia looked troubled.
" Luna has been.. well... condemned I shall say." She spit out.
"By what???"
" An evil mare of darkness!" All of Celestia was starting to fade " Do not trust her!!! She will plunge Equestria into Darkness!!!!!" With those last words Celestia vanished and Nightshade's vision was dark.
Nightshade woke up to a cold splash on her face. " Ahhh! Mother!!!" She jumped up shaking out her wet mane and coat.
Her mother lifted her up.
" My dear child? What happened???? You have been out for almost a week." Mother said to her
" A week?! Mother, Have you become a mare of darkness?" She asked saddened by Celestia's news. Mother looked very shocked and her eyebrows lowered.
" Where have you learned this news Nightshade?" She said with an evil tone.
" While I I was asleep. Mistress C Celestia visited me... She told me you would become a mare of darkness. And that I shouldn't trust you.." The scared filly said. Luna stood from a sitting state and walked over to Nightshade.
" You shall tell NO ONE.... Maybe you can be my apprentice in darkness. AND earn that cutie mark of yours.." She pulled the filly out of bed. " Would you like that my daughter???" Mother said with determination in her voice.
Nightshade nodded " I will serve you on one condition." She said with an evil grin. swishing her tail on her Mother's face.
" Yes my daughter? Anything" She asked as Nightshade flew onto her head and landed with her head upside down facing Mothers. Nightshade had tears forming in her eyes.
" Never betray me. Also....."
" Yes?"
" Love me" She cooed Luna had a big grin on her face now.
" Of course my sweet..."
" I will forever be your servant of the night."
