The Canterlot baker's contest![EDITED]
Load Full StoryThe day was as bright as ever in the land of Equestria, as the summer day went on. A train to Canterlot was on it's way to the city it was scheduled to go to, and a pink earth pony mare was sitting in her seat, looking at the invitation she got in the mail.
"Dear Pinkamena Diane Pie,
You've been invited to The Canterlot baker's contest, held in the town square of the city of Canterlot. You've been invited for what ever baked good you best at making is some of the best our pre-judges have had in their lives. The contest will be held on the week of June 15th to the 21st. We hope to see you there.
~ The Canterlot Baker's Committee."
The pink mare smiled at the fact that someponies enjoyed what baked goods she had to offer, and she was glad to have been accepted in the contest as well. The pink mare put the invitation in her saddle bag next to her, and went back to holding onto the box she had with her, incase the train made a turn that would make her baked goods fall out and splatter across the train floor. The pink mare looked out the window at the beautiful scenery that she was passing. She was glad to see some of the real Equestria that she never saw on her family's rock farm, and was happy to see it, but was sad that she had left after so long of living on the farm. She continued to look outside the window, and thought about what the famous city of Canterlot would be like. Before she knew it, the train came to a stop, and she was at the city.
The mare got her things together. She put her saddle bag and box of baked goods on her back, and departed the train to find the town square. Where ever that was, she'd find out. When the mare got off the train, she saw two ponies, a tall lanky yellow coated stallion and a shorter pudgy mare with a blue coat and a pink mane that reminded Pinkamena of frosting on a cupcake, that were looking around, and decided to go see if they'd help her. She walked up to the ponies, a mare and stallion, and asked "Hiya, I'm Pinkamena Pie! Could you tell me where The Canterlot baker's contest is?"
The stallion caught what Pinkamena Pie said, and turned to her and said "Hi, I'm carrot Cake and this is my wife Cup Cake. We're looking for it as well, but we're also a bit lost as well." Carrot Cake said smiling.
"I think there's some signs that'll point us there dear." Cup Cake said to her husband, as she then noticed Pinkamena standing next to them "Oh, hello dearie, how are you?" She asked Pinkamena.
"I'm great!" Pinkamena said happily "And you're right! There are signs, over there! Come on, let's go!" She said, pointing a hoof at a sign in the shape of an arrow that said "Canterlot baker's contest this way!"
The three ponies walked over to the town square in which the signs were pointing, and went to the sign-in desks, and then were allowed after signing in to go to their designated booths, saying good bye to one another. Pinkamena had begun to walk to hers, and was cautious on where she'd be placing her baked goods. After some walking to her booth, Pinkamena was surprised that the booth was an entire tent for herself! Once inside the tent, she placed down her box of baked goods, and heard a bell and somepony saying "The judges will now present themselves at the stage in the front! All contestants and guests go to the stage at once please!" over an intercom.
Pinkamena did as instructed, and went to the stage to see the judges be presented. After some walking and smelling some of the best baked goods she had ever smelled in her life, she made it to the stage. There at the stage, sat four ponies behind a table. Three were mares, and one was a stallion who looked to be Pinkamena's age. The first judge stood up from her chair and said into a microphone "Hello everypony, my name's Sapphire Shores, and I'll be one of your judges this afternoon for the cookie bakers."
The second mare stood up "Hello, I'm Spitfire, the Wonderbolts captain! I'll be judging everypony who made a cake today!" The fire manned mare said, then sat back at her seat.
The third mare, and one stallion stood up and said "Hello, I'm Fleur de Lis, and this is my twin brother Fancy Pants, and we'll be judging the ponies who made cupcakes for the contest today." The mare said, then went back to her seat.
The stallion stayed at the microphone and said "Yes, as my sister said we'll be judging the cupcakes. Now, let me be the first to say, let the contest begin!" The stallion said, raising one hoof in the air to signal the ponies to head back to their tents their were designated to.
In a crowd of confusion and hurry, Pinkamena somehow managed herself back to her tent, and got everything ready. She got her saddle bag and took out a sign that said "Crème Cupcakes!" that she made herself, and placed it on the table provided, and picked up her box and placed it onto the table as well. Once she placed it on the table, Pinkamena got out the cupcakes she made, and placed them on a platter she brought with her.
Pinkamena's cupcakes were topped with a special purple colored crème that was topped off with rainbow sprinkles on it. Pinkamena sat down in a chair that she was provided from the Baker's Committee and waited for the judges, hoping that they would enjoy the cupcakes she made for them. After an hour or so of waiting, the judges finally came over to Pinkamena's tent.
Quickly getting up, Pinkamena said "Hiya! I'm Pinkamena, and these are my Crème Cupcakes! I hope you enjoy them!" The stallion stood still, awestruck at the mare's beauty.
"Sh-...She's beautiful, and.... Wow...." Fancy Pants thought to himself, then finally said "I hope I enjoy them as well, Ms. Pinkamena." Fancy Pants picked up the cupcake with his magic, and took a bite from it, and was awestruck at it's taste. "Beautiful, AND she can bake? Huh.... I-.. I never thought I'd meet a mare like her." He thought to himself.
"MMM, this is delicious Ms. Pinkamena. In fact, we may have found a winner, isn't that right Brother?" Fleur asked her twin, as she then took notice of his blank, awestruck face. Fleur, doing what she thought would bring him back to reality, slapped her brother in the face, and said "Fancy!"
"Huh? Oh yes, the cupcakes were quiet delicious Ms. Pinkamena." Fancy began "We might've found a contestant for the next round in the contest!" Fancy said, as he walked to the next tent, realizing that his twin sister was staying behind and said "Fleur, why don't you join me?"
"You go ahead brother, I'm going to stay and talk to the contestant a bit." Fleur replied, and watched her brother walk away. Fleur turned to Pinkamena, and said to the pink earth pony mare "So I was wondering, what do you think of Canterlot so far? You seem to be enjoying it from what I can tell."
"It's pretty great so far!" Pinkamena said "In fact, I think I might move here after the competition and find some stallion to get married to, who likes me the way I like him!" Pinkamena continued, and began to laugh a bit.
"Wow, looks like you've got a lot of planning with this place." Fleur said "I think you should give my brother a chance, he's a really nice stallion, and would kill for somepony like you."
"Really?" Pinkamena asked "How can you tell?" She asked, as she realized her heart was getting warmer by the second the more she thought of Fancy Pants taking an interest in her.
Fleur laughed a bit, and said "I'm his twin sister, I can tell who he's thinking of by instinct, and I've seen the look he had earlier on his face before. Like this one time in high school, he had a crush on Sapphire Shores, and ended up asking her out and dated her for a bit." Fleur said, as a bell rang for the judges, signaling them to head to the judges tent to discuss who would go to the next round of the contest. "Oh, I'm sorry but I've got to go to the judge's tent. It was nice talking with you Pinkamena!" Fleur said.
"Later B.F.F.!" Pinkamena said, waving her hoof in the air to her new best friend.
